What a sweet little place in Barcelona! Location is perfect, albeit a 'best kept secret' and the rooms are small but lovely. The team is super friendly and accommodating, and they're all understandably very proud of this little gem. Everyone we encountered made us feel welcome and special. They have a cool, open atrium, a little bar with a fireplace, and an outstanding restaurant, Contraban. Our first evening, Abril made us perfect cocktails at the bar, so we decided to stay for dinner. It was absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable! We stayed in this little (kid-free) gem of a hotel the night before our cruise. The Wittmore is not too far from the cruise ship port and it allowed us a base in the Gothic Quarter to do one day of exploring (not enough in Barcelona obviously). Cabs can get you pretty close to it, but the medieval streets are narrow and cobblestone. It's in a somewhat quiet little area but a short walk to the bustling La Rambla and waterfront area. The staff seemed to have real pride in the hotel and were all very helpful, from checking us in early and storing bags, to calling us when the room was ready, helping with cab service, and walking our bags out to the cab. The room was full of little treats and a specially stocked minibar. Also, there's something next level about waking up and grinding your own coffee beans for in-room espresso shots. For the plant lovers, the restaurant and atrium has a massive living plant wall ( with a view from the room). The roof is so sweet and a great place to spend golden hour looking out at the city rooftops. Would definitely recommend the Wittmore and would stay again! read more

We stayed here for 3 nights and it grew on us. Initially, we were like, "What have we done booking here?" The room was small (mostly a long hallway of unusable space) and cramped ... although the bathroom was perfect ... almost as big as the bedroom and had the best shower we experienced on a 12 day long trip through Spain and France. Seriously, we must have showered 3 times a day because it was very hot and felt better than going in their tiny puddle ... er, pool. While the actual room was not our favourite during the trip, the hotel stay itself was among our favorourite. Overall, what won us over was the level of service. The staff were friendly and excellent ... especially the Italian overnight desk agent. Our room was cleaned spotless each day, there was a welcome bottle of Cava on ice waiting for us when we arrived and the mini-bar was all free. Seems like a little thing but each day it saved us money on drinks because they restocked 2 bottles of local beer, a small caraf of gin and tonics and cold water and juice. The best potato chips we ever tried and a small container of nuts. For a $500/night hotel, it seems like a non-factor but this was one of our favourite parts of the stay. We had come to Barcelona hoping for a bright, sunny, airy feel ... know that this hotel is pretty 'dark and moody'. When you enter, the lobby is beautiful but lots of maroon velvet and black accents. The rooms are similar. Maroon carpet and walls, not much lighting and they are cozy but feel a little 'gothic'. Each room has tall windows which open out onto a 'shaft' in the center of the building with ivy on it. You miss out on the sunlight and at night, even with all the lights on, the room is a bit depressing. The room is very tight (aside for the long hallway which included a closet for clothing (very narrow, so our suitcases wouldn't fit and we had to lay them on the floor of the hallway) and the mini-bar. There really wasn't too much space to walk around the bed and they had a small bench and a table and chair, which were so small I can't imagine anyone actually using them. There was a Marshall bluetooth speaker and the bed was pretty comfortable, if not a bit on the firm side, with enough pillows. The A/C kept the room cold enough vs. the 90 degree and humid weather outside. Oddly enough, my favourite part of any hotel room is the bathroom. This was the true standout. The shower was a huge 'bay' with a shower curtain, which didn't look too luxurious but the rainfall shower absolutely felt like a waterfall with wonderful pressure and you could have the two heads on at the same time. The sink area was smaller than we hoped but nicely done in marble and silver accents. No bidet, which surprised us for Europe, but the bathroom was separate enough to offer privacy from the sleeping room. The toiletries were disappointing as the containers were on the wall vs. individual. (I am an actual soap guy ... and hate using communal body wash.) I will say that the hotel had a nice, classy vibe. It felt much more like a hotel in Paris (with a British name) than anything we'd dreamed of in Barcelona. The roof deck was great ... it had panoramic views of the city and had enough space to stretch out. It rained for part of our trip, so the cushions on all the furniture were a bit wet, even when the sun came out. There was a shallow (2-3 foot) pool, which we jokingly called 'the puddle' and a section you could sit and have a smoke, or loungers you could lay on. We had one meal in the downstairs restaurant and a few drinks. Both were okay/average. The location is great ... in the Gothic quarter. It is VERY hard to find the hotel without a map the first time or two. After a day, it's easier to find once you are familiar with the landmarks. The Gothic Quarter is beautiful and feels a bit like a cleaner version of Naples, Italy. It's a 15 minute walk to the 'heart' of Barcelona. It seems like there are a lot of newer restaurants/bars near the hotel, although very nice ones. Bar La Playa is right around the corner ... this is a 'must do' Tapas place. If we had to do it over again, this is exactly where we would want to stay again. Historic but close to shopping, etc. The worst part about this hotel is parking and getting around with a car. The streets are too narrow to drive down for most people ... the hotel directed us to a parking garage, which was impossible to find so we parked in a small garage just a few streets over for the same price (35 Euros/24 hours) If you are uncomfortable with narrow streets and crowds, you might want to park further outside the Gothic Quarter and walk in. Those with city-driving shyness won't love the location ... but it really is the best place to stay. We did find in Barcelona the rumors about people eating dinner at 11 p.m. are very exaggerated. It was hard finding a decent place open past 10 p.m. for dinner during the week. Overall, this hotel made our trip better and we would return. read more

This place is a beautiful hotel with a restaurant that has been recognized with a Michelin star in 2024. Most of the staff is extremely helpful. Especially, Aria the House Manager, Julian the Concierge and Marina our waitress. They were outstanding! This was a fancy and quaint stay. The food was exceptional. Especially the breakfast. They stock your room with extra cold water to keep you hydrated. The minibar is included and restocked daily. The rooftop pool has exceptional views. The air conditioning in the room is phenomenal. The bedding was lush and cozy. The pillows were like air. The room has been sound proofed and the shutters black the room out. The only downside I could find... very little luggage/clothing storage. Absolutely recommend this gem. We met a couple that checked out and went to airport for travel to Mallorca. Got to airport and their flight was canceled. Not knowing what to do, they returned to the Wittmore. Unfortunately, they were fully booked. The concierge, started making calls to help them with lodging. Even when it was raining and a late hour in the evening, they found accommodations on a private boat that would transport them to Mallorca. Outstanding customer service. read more

First time visiting Barcelona. Didn't know what to expect. I used Hyatt points to redeem a "tiny room". Experience is based on this. Location: Located in Gothic Quarter inside of the old city. It's built within the buildings. Small boutique hotel. Need to walk a block to get to the street to get taxi. Walking distance to La Rambla and Cathedral Barcelona. Service: Friendly attentive staff. One annoying part is they want you to pick up and drop off your room key at the front every time you leave or arrive the hotel. Daily cleaning service and turn down service as well with nice dark chocolate at bedside. Atmosphere: Again small boutique hotel vibe. Def an adult only type of place. Dark and mysterious. Room: Again we got a "tiny room" using points. Def would recommend not to get this one if you plan to stay. The room is so small that you can't walk to your side of bed without crossing over your opened luggage. Sink counter space is minimal. Again the room is dark, not many lamps. Mattress not comfy unfortunately if you care about this a lot. Overall, it was a decent due to good location and friendly staff. But probably won't visit again due to uncomfy bed and dark atmosphere. read more

The Wittmore could of written the book on running a successful Boutique Hotel. The soft, warm, romantic low lit lighting from the front entrance to the guest rooms, a lounge area and bar that is part library like you are sitting in your own living room with a beautiful fireplace with a drink, bottle of wine, or cup of coffee in the morning. This Hotel has so much CHARM. We had a recommendation to book this hotel right in the center of the Gothic Quarter, walking distance to Las Ramblas, El Born and even uptown to the upper end stores. It took only a half hour to even get to the harbor area and waking further, 40 minutes to the beach area. All the staff here, was TOP NOTCH, friendly and helpful, with knowledge of great eating places, museums and all the sites. They were not afraid to override a place that had been recommended to us and tell us of something better, like they knew what we always wanted. So much credit to Luigi, Gabriel and Guillem and all the others that treated us like family. We absolutely would not have had a better trip than if we had not gotten the recommendations and constant directions to eventually get to know Barcelona like we did. In fact, funny thing, we always looked forward to coming back to see them and greet each other. This is not a big lobby, but boutique and small, and when you walk in they are there waiting. Incredible. The rooms are warm, cozy and laid out perfectly. There were windows built into doors with drapes that opened up to overlook the courtyard next to the lounge as we looked down, with a wall of vines on the left from top to bottom that gave us that garden feeling. There were about 4 double doors that we could completely or partially open to the garden and lounge area downstairs. At night the doors were open to let the fresh are of Barcelona cool the room. A separate couch area, roomy bathroom and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Stocked refrigerator, even with fresh lemon and lime and a cutting board. The service and cleaning of the rooms were consistently kept up with a whole lot of extras. My wife and I got a nice piece of chocolate every night, a couple nights fresh fruit and always fresh bottles of water at each of our bedside tables. Getting to the front the entrance of the hotel was a little tricky because this IS a boutique hotel hidden in the narrow streets of The Old City. A cab had limited room to drive right to the entrance, but leave it to the hotel staff, they would walk us to the corner or get the cab driver to come in the lobby and get us. The restaurant, amazing, beautiful and so cozy. We ate breakfast there the first morning. Everything was fresh, eggs, bacon, salmon and avocado. Delicious. And such friendly professional service. One night we enjoyed the rest of our wine we brought back in the lounge area in front of the fire, then went up to the room. I can not mention enough how crucial The Wittmore was to the success of our trip. We learned the city faster, ate at great recommended places or ones they confirmed to us we picked the right place. Opened in 2016, only 22 rooms, no smoking tucked away "inside the wall". After you get dropped off by your cab, you need to walk about one block down the narrow street to the hotel. Everything about this place is first class. Fantastic rooms, both quaint and stylish. Let's just say you get what you pay for. We used our Chase points for the room (so you have another option if you don't want to pay cash). In fact, we used our points for the room/breakfast package. As a side note, the meals were excellent. We had drinks in the library and also on the roof (beautiful views!). In addition to awesome accommodations, the entire staff was friendly, informative and helpful. For all the cities we visited in Spain, this by far was our favorite hotel. read more

We stayed at the Wittmore on the 1st part of our time in Barcelona. We wanted to stay in Old City as it's more centrally located and convenient for the places we want to see. It's a small boutique 5 Star hotel that is only 2 years old. There are pros and cons. Pros: - centrally located and convenient location in Old City - new, boutique hotel with excellent service and attentive staff Cons: - the hotel is very dark. I know this is the look they're going for, but it's so dark in our room that it's hard to do or see anything even with all the lights on - small room - location is a bit hard to find. Have to tell the taxi to drop us off in front of the main post office, then we walk to the hotel which is located at the end of an alleyway. For me, the biggest factor that is kinda a dealbreaker for us and prevents us for staying here again is how dark the hotel is. It's almost too gloomy and morose. For that reason, I can't really recommend this place. read more

Phenomenal boutique hotel in the gothic district of Barcelona! The staff was so incredibly helpful, warm, and inviting. I accidentally booked our tickets for the Park Guell for the wrong day and the concierge went above and beyond to help me rebook and even printed our tickets. There was a demonstration in the streets impacting buses and streets so another employee walked us all the way to the Main Street to flag a taxi and ensure we arrived on time. Simon at the bar makes amazing drinks. If you go, you must try his Old Fashion. The rooms are cozy and well appointed with beautiful patio views. Just wish they had floor length mirrors. The only downside is that this hotel can be hard to find, especially if it's your first time in Barcelona and you arrive at night like we did. Once you find your way around town the location is perfect. Great experience, highly recommend and worth every dollar/euro! read more

My husband and I stayed here on the last night of our honeymoon in Barcelona. We stayed in a lovely Airbnb apartment for 11 days and thought it would be fun to stay in a super posh hotel for the last night (plus have the benefit of scheduled taxi service for our early morning flight). This is officially a 5-star hotel with very attentive, welcoming staff and beautiful surroundings. The food in the restaurant is lovely and your room will be fully stocked with any kind of amenity you might need, including condoms, interestingly. However, if you enjoy sleeping or are sensitive at all to fragrances, you will want to stay somewhere else. Our room had a nauseating perfumey smell akin to walking through the duty-free area at the airport. It turned out that the housekeepers spray this perfume *every* time they clean the room, so when we complained, they sent housekeeping to clean our room, change the bedclothes, and *not* spray the perfume. After that, the smell was maybe 50% better and I managed to tolerate it. As for sleeping, be prepared to hear loud music from the restaurant and courtyard until 1:00am. Every room looks out on the courtyard, so none would be immune to this. With the windows and shutters closed and two phones playing white noise, the music was still disruptive to our sleep. I ended up wearing ear plugs and finally got to sleep. I'd like to note that we are not old fuddy duddies, we just needed to sleep because we had a 7:00am flight. We expected that a 5-star hotel would provide a comfortable and restful experience, but were rather disappointed. We should have just stayed at our Airbnb apartment! read more

This is a very special place. The Wittmore is right in the middle of the historic beauty and mystique of the Gothic Quarter walking distance to great restaurants and tourist attractions. However, what makes this hotel is the service and the front desk staff, which are world class and second to none. The concierge and front desk staff take the time to get to know you and anticipate what you might want whether it's an item for the room, a booking at a tourist attraction or a reservation at the best tapas place in town. Luis, Luigi and Berta were particularly outstanding and went above and beyond at every junction to be helpful and professional. Every time we would come back from a restaurant recommended by one of them, they would take the time to ask what we liked and didn't like and were ready with another recommendation and reservation (incorporating our feedback) the following morning for dinner that next night. We've stayed at a lot of top notch hotels and this was one of the best luxury hotel experiences we've had in any city in the world. read more
