The Cotton House is in a convenient, immaculate, central & safe part of Barcelona near subway stops. The restaurant, buffet breakfast, bar, terrace & concierge are on 1. The fitness center, Pool & rooftop bar on six. The cozy pool had 6 chaises along with tables & chairs. The fitness room had 2 cardio machines & some free weights. arrangements can be made at a more extensive gym. This historical, boutique hotel from the 1800's has 83 rooms, formerly the headquarters of the Association of Cotton & Textiles. There were cotton touches throughout the charming hotel. The 'House of Cotton' has been a landmark; as the hotel after an extensive 2005 restoration & refurbishment. We were given a deluxe madras room on the fifth floor. The room is bright, Plush and very comfortable. We have a king bed with luxurious linens & toiletries, refrigerator filled with bottled water, a safe, Nespresso machine, Electric teapot, plush robes and slippers, lots of closet space and plenty of room to open up our luggage. The toilet, tub and shower are in separate rooms off the sink & dressing area, making it ideal to share for five days. Breakfast every morning was included, we enjoyed cappuccinos, warm fresh pastries & cakes, meats & cheeses, fresh juices, platters of fresh fruits, sandwiches, yogurts .... The terrace & different dining rooms were bright & beautiful, service was impeccable. Housekeeping went out of their way to make us comfortable. Ariadne and Javier, the concierges was extremely helpful. They recommended the app Fork which is the European version of Yelp & Open Table, transportation & venues. We choose the Marriott brand because of the knowledgeable and helpful concierge that helps us navigate the city safely & efficiently.

The Cotton House Hotel was a favorite of ours on our recent trip to Spain. My husband and I debated between The Cotton House or Hotel Artes and ultimately decided on The Cotton House , despite the fact that the rooms are more 'boutique' in style, or small or European in size. We were traveling originally with 3 of our daughters so we booked 3 rooms - one on Marriott points. Our daughters had The Panama room , two twin beds overlooking the courtyard. The bathroom was weird for US standards & 'cozy' but they loved it! The rooms here are not cheap. You will spend to have the experience & this was well worth it! We were upgraded to The Vichy Suite - a bi level suite with two floors and a beautiful terrace that looks out to Gran Via to Sagrada Familia in the distance. The Cotton House is located in a great location; it's safe by US standards and you can walk to La Rambla and Gotic Quarter within ten minutes or hire a car in seconds. Barcelona Sants is about twenty minutes away and we came from there after our train arrived from Malaga. The BCN International Airport is about 25 minutes away. Upon arrival we were met with cava in Waterford crystal & water while we waited in the white beautiful lobby adorned with cotton and white leather to get our room keys. Alejandro then showed us the hotel and had our luggage delivered to our rooms & offered to make any reservations we needed; bring us more espresso pods for our in room espresso maker; ice buckets; or whatever we needed. The hotel has an in house atelier for an 'experience' of tailoring, because why not have a custom made shirt made from this historic property where cotton was once made? Each room is beautiful and the stair case is beautiful with marble. We had twice daily maid service with turndown service and the toiletries are special. We dined on property for dinner; dessert and the breakfast both at the restaurant and in our suite, Batuar, Highly recommend & make reservations for dinner. There is a private library to sit & take it all in, as well! We can't wait to return again!

The interior design of this hotel alone is almost a sight within itself. The "library" and other rooms remind one of the finest social clubs. The rooms are also nice with high ceilings, some with balconies. Comfortable, clean with a very decent breakfast. Another benefit to this hotel is its location. You are in the middle of everything if you want to explore this city. Staff were friendly but more in a NYC way than say Charleston.

This is a beautiful hotel in a great central location of Barcelona. We stayed here using Marriott points. I loved the unique cotton industry touches that were on everything from the wall decor to the room keys. The room we were given was great. The bed was so comfortable, huge tub and a balcony. There were two things that made this place not 5star worthy. First issue we had was for 3 mornings in a row, we had to tell the breakfast place, yes we did get complimentary breakfast (thanks to my husbands status). The hostesses would borderline argue about it with us. By day 3 it was very annoying, why didn't they just fix it on their system? We ended up notifying the front desk and they fixed it in the system. The second issue was with housekeeping. We were there for 5 nights and only ever got one bar of soap for the shower and sink. I kept thinking we'd get another one... I should have called and asked.

I wouldn't say this hotel is 5 star level. We were overall pretty disappointed with our stay. The bathroom floors and walls were dirty and there was a lot of dust in the bathroom, there were holes in the window curtain and the curtain also didn't close all the way. Sunlight was glaring through every morning. We had to ask a few times for coffee refills and bathroom amenities weren't replenished. We actually stopped getting housekeeping services, it seemed all they did was make the bed and fold the towels. No umbrellas at the pool, you'll just bake in the sun if you go to the pool. The gym was super tiny, they would be better off not even having one. No treadmill. Someone was in the gym when I walked in and there wasn't enough room for 2 people to be in there. If you stay on the 2nd floor, the noise from the restaurant is a bit loud. We were woken up at 8 am with the music. The Cotton rooms are pretty tiny. They have a unique shower, but otherwise the space is cramped. We upgraded to the Egyptian room, which is basically the corner rooms. They are larger, but the terraces are smaller. The Cotton room had space for 2 chairs on the terrace, where the Egyptian can only fit 1. Concierge was really disappointing. They recommended 2 restaurants for lunch in Sitges, which were both closed for lunch (we found out when we arrived). We were misdirected to the wrong train station and given timetables for the wrong day. The concierge wasn't knowledgable about bike rentals. Overall, they just weren't knowledgable at all. Better off doing research on your own. The location is decent, but I feel there were better locations. It's a short walk to Eixample and La Rambla. It's not in the heart of Eixample. I would have preferred staying there. The one positive at the hotel was the staff at the terrace bar & Bataur. They are what made our stay pleasurable. I would definitely recommend visiting the bar & restaurant, but not really staying at the hotel. The hotel has a charm and interesting history, but the rooms and amenities aren't on par with 5 star.

I'm a frequent traveler both for work and fun, and I'm also a picky traveler. Let it be known that the Cotton House might be my favorite hotel, ever. I truly had nothing at all to complain about - it's a great property in every way. Location - perfect. You're right off Passeig de Gracia so tons of shopping and restaurants steps from the hotel. A metro is a few blocks up the street. You're a 15 minute walk from Sagrada, 5 minutes to Placa Catalunya and 5-10 minutes from the Cathedral. It's far enough away from Las Ramblas that the hordes aren't unbearable. Public Spaces - stunning. Ever wanted to hang out at a really rich person's place? Have a seat in the glorious library. Or the textile room. Or enjoy the rooftop deck with plunge pool and views of Sagrada Familia. Amenities - they got 'Em. There's the aforementioned fabulous rooftop, a fitness room, the library, free wifi, quality toiletries and robes/slippers. Turndown service too (which BTW I do not get, I can totally unfold my own covers but whatever). Room - amazing. We were on the top floor with views to the Mediterranean from our balcony. Super comfy bed with high quality linens. Silent air-con. A whole "bath" room with a soaking tub and rainfall shower. We slept like babies - never heard noise from the street or other guests. Breakfast - yum! Included because I'm Marriott Gold (balla!), it's a mighty spread of fruit, cheese, cold cuts, fresh juices and a whole dessert table. Yes, I DID have red velvet cake for breakfast daily, thank you very much. Staff - delightful. Our rather sweaty arrival was greeted with glasses of champagne, as though our mere presence was cause for celebration. Really, everyone was super nice. Overall - top tier property with amenities and service to match. The best part? I paid for this fancy shit with points!

Construction view "street view rooms" (June '23) not super aesthetic...but fun to see people do daily rounds!

Loved my stay here! Easy ride from airport and great location about 2 blocks off the Paseo de Gracia. More tranquil than the main drag, but super easy to stroll to the Paseo for shopping, great food and the iconic Gaudi sites. It was also easy to walk down towards Las Ramblas, Gothic quarter and other areas of interest. As a solo traveler, I felt totally safe strolling all times of day and night besides using a crossbody purse as advised. Check in was predictably crowded at the time I arrived, so I used the app to message the desk to notify me and took a light nap in the first floor library until I learned my room was ready. There is also an absolutely lovely all day back terrace restaurant - Batuar- where you can while away the hours while waiting for your room. The front desk staff was a little intense. I don't know how else to put it. Polite, but clipped, fast and concerned with getting that pre-authorization run. I did enjoy the welcome Cava, and a bottle of Bio wine and chocolate sent to the room - but would have appreciated a bit more of a personal interaction upon check in and practically speaking, a quick orientation to the hotel and amenities. Overall, all of the support beyond the front desk from concierge services whose desk I found by the entrance to Batuar to valet (they did some seamless switches when I extended my stay and switched rooms) were on point. The twice daily cleaning is also no joke. They were awesome - I used the "yes sign" or let the concierge or front desk know when I was going out, and the room was invariably turned over on return. They deserve generous appreciations. Rooms - in my opinion the Cotton King overlooking the backside terrace is my favorite. I loved the small balcony with a couple.of chairs, view of terrace and people's apartments and balconies in the distance, space for a sofa inside and the bathroom was very comfy/ample. I also stayed in a Madras King overlooking the street which was great. It has the nicest bathroom - literally a step in rain shower and separate stand-alone tub, with the double sink outside the bathroom - which I liked. The street view is fine - a building with an under construction facade across the way was not eye candy, but you did get to see Barcelona waking up in the AM. I also stayed briefly in a Madras street facing queen room, which was not as much to speak of. They will tell you the rooms are the same size, but for the bed. Not true. The King Rooms are far more luxurious feeling. Slight street noise during the day on street facing side, nothing to speak of at night. And great light blocking shades. The hotel has some amenities like they will "loan" you an umbrella (you'll be charged if you don't return it). Free coffee and spring water in room. There is also a great bakery a block down towards Paseo if you want a quick, tasty sandwich, pastry or juice and not to spend an arm or a leg. Speaking of food, back to the "hotel restaurant" Batuar: they flow from breakfast to lunch service at 1pm to dinner with great coffees, excellent cocktails and wines in between. I heard some people balking at the price of complete breakfast which was steep for Barcelona - about $40. For this 'deal' they prepare food to order such as omelettes, waffles or Benedict, as well as offer a lovely buffet, bottomless cava/mimosas and coffees and juices. I ordered it a couple of times and enjoyed it fully. There is also an a la carte option, but the buffet to me was worth it for those late start days when you want to lounge and have multiple beverages which is where cost can run up if paying individually. Otherwise, plenty of people went a la carte. The breakfast and lunch are well hosted, and Mr. Nabil was charming and kind! For lunch and dinner, go with the oysters, fish like the wild sea bass, or the baby roasted suckling pig - delicious!!! There is a very local cod dish ("cod cooked at low temperature") and local salad that also includes fish (El xato) - very local and proud dishes. They are worth trying, and while they would be acquired tastes for me, I appreciate having had the chance to sample such customary dishes. Finally, the common space decor at Cotton House from the amazing stairwell to restaurant to library was breathtaking and indulgent - a beautiful nod to the past. Overall, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

We enjoyed the Hotel Cotton House, which is centrally located in Barcelona. The Autograph hotels in the Marriott Group are in older buildings, with interesting stories, and this small, elegant hotel is no exception. It has a cotton material theme. The service was superb, from the moment we arrived. The one room was ready at 8:00 AM, and all the luggage was placed in that room, until the second room was available. By the time we came back from a tour of Casa Batlló, the second room was available. We enjoyed the breakfast in the Bataur Restaurant, and a limited dinner menu. The restaurant is opened until 11:00 PM. Never checked out the bar and pool on the top floor, but did enjoy the library. The concierge service was a plus. All in all, it was a lovely stay at this charming hotel.

I was a little nervous about booking here because the good reviews were great and the bad reviews made me wonder if I should be staying here. I was worried about the size of the rooms and the layouts in particular. However, while the rooms were a little small, they were laid out quite nice. The super high ceilings had a way of making the room seem bigger than it probably was. The service here was great though, they staff were amazing the whole time. Also if you are worried about the location, don't. The place is in a perfect spot where you can walk to anything. As other said, while the hotel is nice, I do worry about the finishes and how long they will last. The floors seemed a bit cheap, again, they look great now, but will they in a few years? I will let them worry about that though. Also, one final point, if you like a cold room the A/C here was insane! I loved it!

Cotton House is a beautiful historic hotel with an extremely unique stylized feel. The staff was incredibly accommodating--the concierge floor is open long hours & the staff goes above & beyond to help guests. The common spaces (library, restaurant, sitting areas, staircases, etc.) & exceptional staff are largely what make Cotton House so special, but there is also a lovely pool/roof deck, gym & spa. Guest rooms are somewhat small (no smaller than should be expected in any large European city) but very smartly appointed with well-planned & intentional use of space. We visited as a part of our honeymoon & were appreciative of the very kind in-room gifts we received from each of our 4 hotels in Spain. Cotton House however really went above & beyond--decorating our entire room with wine, candy/treats, and multiple handwritten messages. We were beyond impressed from the minute we entered the room! The location is also perfect. Very central for all of Barcelona's major sites (everything is walkable) but off the tourist path enough to provide a tranquil environment. Cotton House is one of the most unique & wonderful hotels I have experienced.

Beautiful, well-appointed building, lobby sitting areas, restaurant, etc. Staff were friendly and very accommodating with bag storage, delivering bags to our room before we returned, restaurant recommendations and more. The rooftop is big with pool, bar and a number of seating areas for a 360 view of the city. Relaxing place to sit with a drink. Spa in basement is nice with all amenities. You have to reserve use and it's capped at 30 mins. Rooms are decent size allowing for suitcases and still moving around room. Bathroom is clean and has everything needed including heated towel rack and bidet. Although robes weren't included we found some at spa we used for the remainder of our trip. Lobby is very spacious and comfy, and there is live music in Thur-Sun. Great place to relax with a drink after exploring all day. Breakfast was extensive and a nice start to each day. Included made to order as well as plenty of ready made options for all palettes. The Not as Good We reserved both a superior and classic room but couldn't tell the difference for an additional 130 euros. The front desk said the superior had "more light." Potentially but not sure that was described as difference for what we paid. The rooms lack power outlets. Nothing by bedside. USB by desk but no USB-C or Int'l plugs. We had phones plugged in behind chairs, tea kettle sitting on floor, laptop in bathroom... The subway is underneath the hotel and even though we're on the 4th floor it was loud with lots of vibration. We had Do Not Disturb on for our entire trip but staff entered regardless and made up room. Not a big deal but surprised us and meant we had to put our belongings away every time we left not knowing who would enter when. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we would come back but many hotels we passed by looked like good options as well.

TLDR: Come for the rooftop views of Barcelona, not so much for the stay…read more While Barceló Raval's rooftop offers one of the best panoramic views of Barcelona, the hotel itself is giving knockoff of the W. They try to give off that sexy, mysterious vibe, but as soon as you step into the room, the green ceiling, cheap fixtures and damask wallpaper give it away. The hotel is reasonably "affordable" for its location (near the Gothic Quarter and La Barceloneta), but definitely in a sketchy area. I highly advise walking outside the hotel at night, as you'll find the rough crowds your parents warned you about. The nearest metro station is about a 10-minute walk, and to get there, you have to cut through some of the sketchiest alleys. I booked through Expedia and was upgraded to a room with a view, a bottle of mini wine & an extra bottle of water. My amenities weren't so great from the moment I opened the door. Since my room was pretty high up, the room was stifling & those views were blocked by a stainless steel mesh. FYI: your room requires a key card at all times if you're trying to use electricity, which includes air conditioning. The shower initially felt luxurious--spacious with a giant waterfall head and solid water pressure--followed by lush bath towels, but that impression faded once I noticed the pockets of mold and grime in the corners. Sleeping was also a challenge since walls are thin and anytime the guests next to me entered their room, it sounded like someone was entering mine, which kept me paranoid and on high alert. Rooftop: the rooftop not only offers panoramic views of Barcelona, but also has a bar and pool, though hard to even suggest the pool is an amenity since it's more so for aesthetic than functionality. On the roof, it's not an open floor plan, so you'll have to walk around the building to get a full 360 view. For those who are height deficient such as myself: prepare for obstructed views because of the high railings (great for safety, but not so much for those under 5'3).

I liked opening the windows every afternoon and sitting on the chaise and reading. There are refillable water stations on each floor by the elevator, which was a small but big perk to me. Awesome water pressure and temperature, kind, attentive service by staff, and incredible rooftop bar made this a fun place to kick off my stay in Spain. Small gripes: As a short person was the bathroom tub was a bit tall for me to climb into and out of. There was not a true fridge/freezer in the room; the staff was kind enough to store something in their freezer for me but it felt too out of my way to ask them to do it too often for me. The lobby bar drinks were fine but nothing to write home about. Overall though this is such a great hotel and I'd absolutely stay here again. It feels luxe but had very reasonable rates, even right after Easter which is peak tourism. The rooftop bar is very much worth a visit, beautiful views of the city and a fun, lively vibe. I cannot recommend this hotel more!

I had thought having our hotel in this area would have been a mistake, knowing about the pickpocketing and protests from locals regarding tourists. Yet I found it so convenient to many attractions within walking distance, just a block away from the metro station, souvenirs in the shops, with late night spots if you're hungry, and being close to a few markets. The room was spacious and modern. We slept well in their comfortable king bed. We were given slippers and a bathrobe along with the typical amenities like hair dryer, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. There was even a bathroom scale! Something I rarely see in hotel rooms these days. Our package deal included breakfast at their daily buffet. And it's one of the better buffets that actually has a made-to-order-eggs table. I love that there's a personal chef for those who like their eggs a certain way. They had many Spanish cured meats, cheeses, fruits, salads, pastries and bread, cold cereals, yogurts, coconut chia seed pudding, churros and chocolate (though it was not like a churros shop), and even congee, blended smoothies and power green drinks as well as fresh squeezed juices. We were impressed to see a few different items changed on a daily basis to keep the buffet fresh and new. I liked it better than the buffet we had in Madrid, despite it having a better hotel rating. The front desk staff was super helpful when we needed a family metro pass for 8 trips verses getting an unnecessary unlimited pass. That saved us money! She directed us to the metro station up the block and had us buy a family T pass. This was only €12. You would scan and let one person go through first while keeping the pass to scan yourself in. You can scan multiple times because it is for a group and not an individual pass. If I visit Barcelona again, I wouldn't hesitate coming back to Le Méridien! It was perfect for all our needs!

Since it's in the narrow alleys of Gothic, arriving at the front door via taxi is difficult, especially if the streets are very crowded. However, it's pretty easy to walk to from the main street if you're OK with walking about five minutes. When we left for the airport, we were able to coordinate a taxi pick up with the front desk. Fortunately, it was also a sunday, so the streets were very empty. It took about 15 minutes for the taxi to arrive, but it was easy to get out of the narrow streets. The hotel itself is nice. Check-in is on the mezzanine level. Our room wasn't ready, but they were able to store our bags. We grabbed lunch at the rooftop restaurant and the food was objectively decent. The main draw of the rooftop restaurant is the incredible view where you can see all of Barcelona and the towering cathedrals. Service was friendly. On a different day, we tried there spritz hour, which seemed to be marketed as two spritzes for €12. However, we each got charged €12 which I think was the price on the menu anyway so I don't know what happened there. The hotel room was cozy. Bed was very comfortable. The layout was a bit odd if you imagine that the room is a U-shape, the bed is the bottom of the U, which makes sense. However the bathroom was split up with the toilet on the right side and the sink and shower on the left side so after you use the bathroom, you would have to walk to the other side of the hotel room to wash your hands. It's not like the room is big, but it's just kind of odd for layout, especially if like luggage is dispersed across the room and you have to walk through all that.

Our room faced towards the water and we enjoyed the views whenever we were there. We were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and were given a nice treat and note welcoming and congratulating us. So thoughful! We took advantage of the breakfast every morning, which had a nice selection of cooked entrees and buffet items.
