I had a mortgage with Vystar, and then refinanced with them as well. What went wrong? What didn't. First the good, my mortgage officer team were excellent, in particular Ryan. The rate was also below average. Now the bad...let's see, to refinance I was initially told that I would have to have a certified check...the day before Christmas. When all banks close early. I kid you not. Turns out not to have been true, but I lost a year of my life trying to resolve it. Then, Vystar continued to withdraw money from my bank account for the new AND old mortgages. That's right, they did not stop when they refinanced my mortgage. I eventually caught on after 3-4 months, when they had 40k of my money. Then..and I kid you not, after much hassle they told me that they had sent 2/3 of my money in a check...to a house in Delaware I had not lived in for almost 2 years. Keep in mind that THEY WROTE THE MORTGAGE AND REFINANCED THE HOUSE I ACTUALLY LIVE IN. But wait! I'm not done, they then told me they would not be able to reissue that check for 90 days. That's right. They could not cancel it and send it correctly. But I'm not done! No. When I called and asked for a supervisor...I was told..wait for it..it takes 3 TO 5 BUSINESS DAYS FOR SOMEONE TO RETURN YOUR CALL! Am I kidding? I wish I were. Basically , please avoid this bank at all costs. Looks good on paper, but whether it's nefarious or just incompetence it is obvious that they are not capable of performing even the basic duties of a bank. Buyer beware. read more

VyStar closed its store fronts on Anastasia Island and many around St. Augustine. They screwed us out of interest on a CD because we didn't call them in a date window around Xmas to claim it. Yeah, they should have just honored the CD matured and deposit it with interest. Long lines and lots of people running around not manning the teller stations. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this venue! The venue is small enough so that any seat, is a good seat. The staff members were helpful and nice for the most part! Parking does suck, expect to pay $30+ for parking during shows. The drinks and food were also pretty expensive, as expected. But it was a great show and I had an amazing time! read more

Horribly incompetent credit union with a bad attitude to its customers. Did an external transfer on the website and mistakenly transferred funds to my account instead of from my account. Called Vystar 5 minutes later and wasn't allowed to cancel the transaction. It's easy to see that Vystar is a backward, very conservative credit union that has less-than-caring employees and old systems that don't allow their credit union to offer help when a customer needs it. read more

The bank doesn't work when u need them to. I am closing up my account when I get out of the hospital. Today is Sept 8, 2024. All summer of 2023 the online banking site was down. On Sept 7, 2024 I was admitted into the hospital. I have a dam mtg I need to.pay by the 15th, but according to Vystar ZELLE is down. But they (Vystar) is working diligently to get this working. Anyway any idiot would know ZELLE has to fix there network if ZELLE was down. Well I tested ZELLE for a $1.00 to transfer from Chase to Florida Credit union. Guess what it worked. Dlso ZELLE is not down it's Vystar that went to crap. We all know of Vystar definition of diligently. 1 to 6 months. To hell with them. Welcome to corporate greed credit union. Wow this place changed since the merge with 123. The Merger Has Completely Ruined What Used to Be Great Customer Service! Everything that made this company feel small-town, personal, and customer-focused has gone straight out the window. What used to feel like a community-oriented, friendly business has turned into yet another cold, corporate operation that cares more about nickel-and-diming customers than providing any real service. The change in the loan process is now as bed as regular corporate greedy banks. The little changes say it all -- and they add up fast. Suddenly, we're being charged just to receive a paper statement. Something that was once a simple courtesy is now a fee. They've changed policies, added pointless "convenience" charges, and made it harder to actually reach a real person when you need help. The people who used to know their customers by name and genuinely wanted to help have been replaced by corporate rules and scripted responses. You can tell VyStar is trying to squeeze every last cent out of customers instead of building loyalty or trust. The merger stripped away the personal touch and replaced it with the kind of faceless, profit-first approach that small-town folks like me were trying to avoid in the first place. Horrible customer service. The lack of concern or care is astonishing. My husband put his ATM card in the banks ATM machine and the machine took his card. Now he has to pay the bank $5 to get a new card after the banks ATM took his card. Sounds like one helluva scam going on. The lady "checking" people in who has "white" hair just stood there fiddling her white smart watch with absolutely no concern for a Credit Union Member for many years, she just stood there. We asked if we could speak to a manager other than the "check in" lady due to her lack of knowledge, and she IMMEDIATELY responded with NO hesitation "Manger is in a meeting" I guess Vystar forgot whose money it is. As a long time member, I am becoming increasingly dissatisfied with Vystar. The conversion to the new platform is absolutely no better than what they had in place prior to this debacle. In addition, they have gone from being a credit union for the people to acting just like any other bank too big to fail. I did not sign up for a variable rate credit card when I joined them in 1989 and that has now been forced on me along with an interest rate that is jumping up almost double from their last increase. When I called today I learned they have gone from a live person to an automated recording. They offer me terrible interest rates on savings and CDs. I am left wondering just how this Credit Union is supporting me and its other members any better than a regular bank with shareholders these days.... The mobile banking issues happened during a planned conversion to a new platform. VyStar said all funds are secure. The bank is using local banking tech firm Nymbus to launch the new platform electing it as its digital banking partner a few months after investing $20 million in the company. Don't recall this being divulged prior to the implementation of new platform. read more

The app is always down for maintenance or can not show current balances. The ATM closest to me is also always down for maintenance. Every Thursday during my lunch break a van is parked at the ATM & the machine is down & I don't have time to drive to the next ATM. If I use any other ATM VyStar charges me for not using their ATM. But they're sure to charge you an NSF fee immediately if there's a problem even if the reason you under estimated your balance is because you have no idea what your balance is since the app & ATMs never work properly. With VyStar you have to go back to the old ways of keeping a ledger rather than being up to date like most banks & getting real time balances through their apps. Since there's no email access and help line has a 30+minute wait time; I'll try to get through with Yelp. The new on-line banking is inferior to the old system from a user friendly point of view. I find it cumbersome to use and paying bills has become complicated compared to the previous system. The branch offices are convenient but I worry that it's too easy to make a mistake in the on-line banking program. And it asks me if I want to stay online too often and has knocked me off a couple times now. And there's no email access to vent my concerns. If another Credit Union opens a branch nearby I'll seriously consider moving my finances. read more

Where do I begin!... First their recent app update did not update the app on my phone it's simply created a new app. I've never seen that before. Everyone else just updates their app Then the new app sign in does not allow for previous credentials. They don't work. Then they want me to input my Social Security number! Are they nuts! Do they think I'm going to give such an incompetent, ineffective, unprecedented and ridiculous app upgrade and the people behind it are so incompetent with their technology ... why would I electronically input my Social Security number when I don't trust their technological abilities. Obviously the bank has my Social Security number that's not the issue the issue is there technological expertise or lack thereof. We have been locked out of online banking! For two weeks! And Newspaper articles and PR beg us to be patient and wait in queue. But...when i called them the Recording - after a very long message finally said (I paraphrase) "The queue is too long and you'll need to call back." and then it disconnected me! I've been with these people since 1983... And people have been with them longer or less. But in today's knowledge base of technology and financial institutions this is deplorable! I know the government is looking into it but that's not going go anywhere and meanwhile we are locked out. I know companies have insurance for ransomware. But I don't know if they get insurance for stupidity and incompetence! read more

Good people at the branch & the interest rates are also good & that's where it ends. It was suggested that we obtain a business credit card when we opened our business account. The red flag was that the manager at the branch didn't want to do it, and said he would send me a link... which I had to ask for twice. When it didn't work, he was out of the office and paternity leave. Then I applied for a re-fi of our primary home - what a friggin nightmare! I sent over all of my paper via their online process & it timed out... so I had to do it all again. Then I asked if my application was complete & the response was an affirmative & then underwriting asked for the same damn paperwork that I originally sent & more. Business account is at this bank and has been since I opened in 2015 . The new remodel and customer service set up is frustrating from a business standpoint. Half the tellers they use to have and now everyone does everything. Makes no sense to stand in line to submit a loan application that's what loan officers are for . No b2b reps that I can tell as I waste time to do simple transactions that literally took minute's in the past. The latest roll out of the new app has left bill pay and account management utterly a mess . The information on the site advises you to call a call center that literally can not service all the calls it's getting. Very frustrating experience. Absolutely the nicest most professional branch I've been to over the last about 3 years. Granted with Covid for nearly a year now I've been handling most things online but so nice today, that even through the drive through, I got my favorite teller of ALL TIME. She popped up on the monitor and we were both like HEY!!!! Without skipping a beat she asked about my puppy, if she was with me in the car (yes, I have purposely brought the pup so she could see on the camera but that had to be 6-8 months ago) but the pup wasn't with me as I had other errands to run today. I began my refi at Vystar in St. Augustine on March 19th, 2020. I am nearly 3 months into the process now. I have paid for an appraiser and had the appraisal over 3 weeks ago. I have not received a single phone call, email or snail mail as to where I stand with my loan. I have sent numerous emails, made countless calls and left dozens of voicemails for the 3 people who have sent emails to me in the beginning all saying they are assisting me on my loan and not a one has responded. I did receive a call last week from a woman who told me she'd personally look into it and get back to me on Monday. It's now going on Wednesday and no word from her.......crickets At this point I'd like my appraisal money returned and I'd like to rake my business elsewhere. Do not refi at this bank. They are using Covid as an excuse. No updates, no return phone calls and I am literally in the dark of what happened to my refi. read more

It's been two weeks, and a lot of normal features you would expect from a bank website no longer exist on Vystar's new platform. You have to call customer service to make an immediate CC payment, you cannot download previous statements in a csv or Excel format, and a limited recent history is all that is available when looking at previous transactions. The big mistake Vystar made wasn't getting duped into creating a crappy new version; it's when they knew they were screwed and had no back up plan to immediate revert back to the old software. Vystar will say the old software was outdated; however there was a lot more availability on the old software, plus the missing features mentioned above were available for each user. read more

I have been with VyStar for several years now for most of my online banking. It wasn't until recently I started having problems with their banking. Needed a new debit card sent to me and after over a month of requesting, getting confirmation from multiple reps, it still to this day has not arrived. The customer service I have experienced at this bank has been extremely poor and it is obvious many of the reps do not have a clue of what to do when things are out of the ordinary. If you are serious about your banking and actually care about your money, please reconsider another bank that actually knows the ins and outs of online banking, has a solid website and customer support service, and can actually deliver promises. This is quite possibly the most "Florida" bank in Florida. Always under construction, terrible operating hours, and almost always unavailable when you need it the most. I am so dissatisfied with the customer service in this branch. I have been a customer for so many years and the way I was treated today was so awful. I waited in the drive through for over 30 min. When I pulled up, the canister was pulled away, I filled my slip then call for the canister Samantha accused me of just pulling up and that she herself saw me. She continue by letting me know that the bank closes at 5pm. And at this point it was 5:20PM. Then cut me off the mike.I understand that as an employee you have a life. Absolutely worst experience ever so far. Hoping it improves. Everyone was pleasant, but policies and procedures are absolute ridiculousness. Half the time the customer service people on the phone do not speak english that is understandable, the chip on the credit card never works at all (forcing me to keep a backup credit card on hand), after spending 10 minutes jumping thru "security" question hoops on the phone I cant even accomplish the most basic account management tasks.... its completely amateur hour. I have been with vystar ever since I started using a bank. I personally loved it and told even my boyfriend to join. I walked in to the location in st Augustine today like I have always done even throughout Covid. Today they stopped me at the door and told me I had to have a mask on. I told them I had a doctors note and couldn't do that. So then another person walked up to me and told me that I could use their drive through. I said I don't feel comfortable doing that since I have never done that. He told me they would help me. I don't want to do that at all. Like I said, I'm not comfortable doing that. If I had I would have done that already. This company clearly has changed and is now discriminating against people who have medical issues! I guess I have to change banks now. read more

For a number of reasons Matthew provided my family with our one and only bad experience with Vystar in the 13 years that I have been a member. I seriously considered closing all of my accounts but Samantha saved the day! She was compassionate, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. We so very much appreciate that Samantha went above and beyond to rectify a situation that shouldn't have been a situation in the first place! My personal experiences with Vystar Credit Union, is a interesting one to say the least, Back in 2019 I used a V.I.P. Check for a new car, however it was a totally a nightmare, the personal banker totally messed up what supposed to be a simple transaction. Personal Banker add death and disability coverage's for both my wife and myself after we discussed stating that we did not want to have my wife, however after receiving the coupon book, we discovered that the coverage's after going back to the credit union and having them redo the loan with the correct coverage's, now we are trying to get loan documents to prove that the 2 previous loans had coverage's and the balances were rolled into the new loan and Vystars has refused the documents so I can file a appeal on the my disability claim.
