The rate was also below average. Now the bad...let's see, to refinance I was initially told that I would have to have a certified check...the day before Christmas. When all banks close early. I kid you not. Turns out not to have been true, but I lost a year of my life trying to resolve it. Then, Vystar continued to withdraw money from my bank account for the new AND old mortgages. That's right, they did not stop when they refinanced my mortgage. I eventually caught on after 3-4 months, when they had 40k of my money. Then..and I kid you not, after much hassle they told me that they had sent 2/3 of my money in a check...to a house in Delaware I had not lived in for almost 2 years. Keep in mind that THEY WROTE THE MORTGAGE AND REFINANCED THE HOUSE I ACTUALLY LIVE IN. But wait! I'm not done, they then told me they would not be able to reissue that check for 90 days. That's right. They could not cancel it and send it correctly. But I'm not done! No. When I called and asked for a supervisor...I was told..wait for it..it takes 3 TO 5 BUSINESS DAYS FOR SOMEONE TO RETURN YOUR CALL! Am I kidding? I wish I were. Basically , please avoid this bank at all costs. Looks good on paper, but whether it's nefarious or just incompetence it is obvious that they are not capable of performing even the basic duties of a bank. Buyer beware.

I've been a Bank of America customer for over twenty years, both personal and business. More than…read more$200K moves through my accounts every year, and not once--ever--has there been a hint of fraud, overdraft, or dispute. I've stayed loyal through mergers, fees, and policy changes because I believed this bank valued long-term relationships. After what just happened at this branch, that belief is gone. I sold my RV for $35K and helped a friend purchase a 2004 Thunderbird for $12K. We went to Truist Bank, only 0.3 miles away, where their branch manager, Stacy, issued two cashier's checks--certified, verified funds. I walked them straight into this BOA branch to deposit them, as I've done countless times. The teller, Marie, was professional and kind. Then the system "recommended" a seven-day hold. I asked why. She said "fraud prevention." I explained that cashier's checks are guaranteed money--the very reason they exist. She said $12K would clear the next day and $7K of the $35K the following day. Frustrating, but fine. Then I asked for a manager. Enter Chris, the assistant manager, with an attitude that screamed indifference. Before hearing a word of context, he started repeating "fraud" like it was a script. I told him my account is spotless--twenty years, zero issues--and that labeling legitimate customers as potential criminals isn't customer service. I asked him to call Truist's branch manager to verify the checks. He refused, saying he was "not allowed." Then, smirking, he told me I could "just cancel the checks and go back if it was a good bank." That comment alone summed up how little he cared. When I pointed out that the system only recommended a hold, not required one, he claimed "management can't override it anymore" and blamed "a new 2024 law." He couldn't cite the law or explain it. He said he'd call the internal department that might lift it--then shrugged and admitted, "They won't." I've managed teams for years, and I would never speak to customers with that tone or lack of respect. The next day, nothing cleared. Not the $12K. Not the $7K. Days later, the entire deposit is still frozen. No follow-up, no explanation--just silence. That's not fraud protection. That's mismanagement hiding behind automation. Look at the reviews for this branch. Like so many others, not one five-star rating. That's not coincidence--it's culture. This is what happens when leadership replaces service with scripts and accountability with algorithms. If a 20-year customer depositing certified checks from a major U.S. bank gets treated like a liability, what chance does a new customer have? I've defended BOA for years. I won't anymore. When the hold finally lifts, I'll close both my personal and business accounts. It takes minutes to open new ones elsewhere--at banks that still believe in human judgment, not automated suspicion. Bank of America once stood for partnership and progress. Now it stands for policies without people, and managers without empathy. To anyone reading: choose a bank that values you. And to Bank of America Corporate--this review isn't just feedback. It's a warning. Customers notice, competitors notice, and the public notices. Your systems don't just hold funds--they're holding back trust.

I have been with Ameris for MANY YEARS…read more(2008) PRIOR to that Prosperity Bank. 2.5 months ago I had a certified check in my name they refused to process since my account was 3k shy of the check. Granted I had a significant balance over 6k but they stood on principle... fine. Now I have great standing. Have Ameris Credit Card, great credit and nothing nefarious. Flash forward to today when in error - rushing - i endorsed the back of a check made out to me (very very small amount compared to my actual account) incorrectly. I did not lie. I did not try to hide it. I came in and spoke with them and explained i was rushing and endorsed for my business not my personal. Now you would think I could void the endorsement and write the correct endorsement ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING I WAS ONLY TRYING TO DEPOSIT NOT CASH IT. NOPE. Now upon deep diving I have discovered it is not policy. It is not law. I can mark out my incorrect account and put the correct account. Add to it what is in my bank account would cover this particular check 5x over. But no. Almost 20 years I have been with this bank and the same long curly haired lady that dealt with the previous issue had the worst attitude. She was rude and treated me like I was trying to scam the bank. 20 years, making a deposit that is aprox 1/5 of what is in my bank, walking in on camera, with ID and treated like I am some shister. I called customer service and they confirmed there is not a rule regarding this. However there is a rule that says "for minor errors you can void the endorsement and re-endorse" which is exactly what I was attemptijg to do. I even offered to pull mu other bank up so they could see all deposits as well as pending deposits to give them an "added piece of mind" but again they refused to deposit my check. The kicker was the on duty manager with long wavy dark hair and wears glasses said "I remember you" from the certified check fiasco. I dont know but 20 years, no NSF, CARRY a decent balance, have safety boxes there, direct deposit income for 10 years (ironically the same number accidentally put on the back - accidentally endorsed for my company not me personally ) after all that the best they can do is say "banking practices" not policy. Personally I think the lady was still mad that I told her it was ridiculous about the certified check. Waiting on the branch manager Lisa to call but doubt the ignorance stops. After 20 years guess ill be looking into moving banks.

Sue Ferrel, the assistant manager at this branch is a disgrace and an embarrassment to this bank!…read moreIncompetent, disrespectful, and has no clue of what customer service actually is. She couldn't work out how to deposit a simple e-check I received from work, so, instead of trying to assist me, she simply refused, and when I inquired further into that, she told me off with a sarcastic and offensive tone of voice. I, then, went to the VyStar Bank, who had my e-check printed and deposited within 2 minutes. I returned to this branch to move most of my finances to VyStar, and attempted to speak to Sue Ferrel about her attitude and rudeness towards me, but instead of a simple apology, the woman snapped, got aggressive and confrontational, started shouting how I was the disrespectful one, and provoked me into a verbal altercation. She actually stood in the lobby shouting at me: "SHUT YOUR MOUTH!", then started with threats how she was going to make more trouble for me if I didn't shut my mouth........She was so vile and horrible, that i told the teller I wanted to close my account completely. Sue, then, hollered for me to "GET OUT!", but I stood my ground and refused to leave until I got all of my money out of that bank. I told her that I will file a complaint with the corporate office and they'll be able to see the entire altercation, her behavior, and the things she was saying on cameras, Sue, instead, chuckled out loud and happily shouted: "OUR CAMERAS DON'T HAVE MICROPHONES!", which explains why she felt so comfortable and safe in behaving that way. I'm appalled and disgusted by this woman, Sue Ferrel, how she handled my situation says quite a bit about her character and personality. This woman should not be allowed to work with people or be in customer service! I've filed a complaint with the head office, I've spoken to Ms. Angela regarding the "investigation", it's been 3 weeks and I haven't heard back from anyone. This just shows that Ameris Bank does not value their customers and are negligent and careless about how the customers are treated by their employees. I've also filed a complaint with the BBB regarding how poorly this bank handled my situation.
