I have been with First Florida Underwriters for about seven years now, and couldn't be happier with their service. When I gave them my auto insurance and homeowners, they saved me a bundle over what I had been paying. They actually got my premiums back down to what they had been several years earlier. Well, long story short, they put me with Auto Owners Insurance to cover my car, truck, and travel trailer. The rates were very reasonable. Then on June 1st, 2015, due to a freak accident, I totaled both the truck and the travel trailer. I found myself at the mercy of the insurance company for the first time in my life. And to my surprise, they came through with flying colors. The claims representative in Tallahassee went out of his way to pay me every cent I was entitled to under the terms of my policy. With every claim, he made an offer and I accepted because it was always more than fair. I couldn't have been happier. I would like to meet that man one day and shake his hand. As of June 26th, 2015, with the insurance checks and a small bit of cash, I'm driving a new truck, and my life is back to normal! I left my name and number and was told to expect a call. Yesterday came and went. I called back this morning and reached "Pam." She had a very demanding attitude, and put me on hold twice before even getting to the business at hand. She asked/demanded if I wanted a quote from her - or not. I told her I was wondering if she was going to apologize for no one returning my call, and she stated "No, ma'am, I am not." I cannot imagine the difficulties I would have with this firm if I purchased their product and then had to make a claim. I wanted to deal with a local business, but certainly not with Pam at Bush-Thompson. She sounds hideous!

So I called the office on Friday Feb. 23 and was transferred to Patty. Left a voice message requesting a return call, which has not occurred as of March 3. I can only surmise that this company does not either want or care about potential new business. Possibly, either the emails or submittal button on-line not working properly are the culprit. Whatever the case, the system is dysfunctional from technology to the human element. A rating of 1 is a stretch, it should really be zero if that rating existed.

The issue arose when the insurance company was changed and proper follow-up was not completed. I contacted the office more than 30 days ago to have the matter corrected. At that time, I was told that they had contacted the mortgage company and provided the required insurance information. However, approximately one month later, I received another letter from the mortgage company stating that there was no insurance coverage on the property. I contacted the office again and requested that, since they indicated they would be emailing the mortgage company, I be copied on the correspondence. When I received the email, it was sent only to me and not to the mortgage company. Additionally, it contained incorrect information: it referenced the wrong insurance policy and the wrong property. The information was being sent to the incorrect insurance company. Specifically, the house that does not have a mortgage was listed with policy information intended for the house that does have a mortgage. At that point, I simply wanted the issue to be properly handled and resolved by their office. However, in their response dated 12/15/2025, they did not state that they would take responsibility for resolving the matter. As a result, I no longer had confidence that the issue would be addressed correctly or at all. Due to these repeated errors, lack of follow-up, and loss of trust, the matter remained unresolved and ultimately led to the termination of a long-standing business relationship.
