The work involved exstensive renovation of the exterior stucco and the painting of the entire two story building. The work also included the renovation of the wood trim on the second floor windows, and the installation of aluminum wraps on the window sills. They painted the interior walls and stairway of the apartment entry area; and repaired and painted the drop ceiling in one of the offices. Also, they did low voltage telephone wire clean up at the rear of the building and upgraded the telephone wiring for the whole building. This project included upgrading the framework and installing a new patio cover. New Casle Remodeling provided us with a detailed estimate of the proposed work. They started the job on the date which was set in the contract. And they finished the job within the proposed timeframe and on budget. The owners, Randy and Bruce, were very efficient in managing the project. The construction crew, lead by Otto, were pleasant and efficient and gave attention to the details of the job. They were very professional in their work and diligent in leaving the job site clean at the end of each work day. We highly recommend New Castle Remolding for any type of exterior or interior renovation and we will definitely use their services for future projects. But as multiple problems surfaced we found a highly recommended carpenter to help us out. He quickly determined that our dream house was a nightmare and that we would need more than a carpenter to fix it. He recommended the best and most ethical contractor he knew, Tyler, at GoodHands Builders. We had to wait a few weeks to get on Tyler's schedule, but once we met with him we were impressed with his creativity, knowledge, and honesty. He is a straight-shooter who carefully explains what work needs to be done and why. He worked with us to find the best solutions for our needs and budget. We gave him a list of over twenty items that needed fixing and he offered to charge us cost-plus since it would be so hard to estimate so many small jobs. That seemed very fair to us. Work began and we received electronic bills every two weeks with transparent details that aligned with what was happening at our house. GoodHands workers/crews/subcontractors were respectful of us and our property. They showed up on time, worked hard, and cleaned up daily when finished. We had two guys who worked at our house six days a week for over a year. I felt totally comfortable being alone with them and leaving them alone when I wasn't home. They demonstrated the same integrity that Tyler did. (They once returned a ten dollar bill they found in the street near where my son's car had been parked shortly after he had left.) In addition to the crews who were here, either Tyler (the owner) or Stephen (the project manager) stopped by daily to make sure everything was proceeding smoothly. When workers found problems (like a screw through the copper piping in the bathroom, walls that were supported by 1x2s instead of 2x4s, cracks in the foundation, showers that didn't drain because they were level instead of sloped, improper water proofing underneath the tile, concrete pavers that rose up causing tripping hazards because they were used to hide a decaying driveway, and a shear wall that wasn't) the crew communicated to management and together they worked to find a solution and only then would Tyler or Stephen bring it to my attention. So while each of these surprises cost us money to fix, by the time I was told about them there were already solutions for us to chose from and plans to fix it. At one point, we realized that we were going to have to tear out the entire primary bathroom and redo another shower because of the flipper's previous faulty work. We decided to borrow from the adjacent bedroom and make the bathroom larger and add a custom closet so we'd have something good to show for all of the time and money we spent on repairs. We discussed multiple layout options with Tyler and he would prepare drawings and estimated costs for each one. The end result is a truly stunning bath and walk-in closet. Everyone we know who has worked with a contractor says that it has cost them more time and money than they expected. At then end of their projects, they all talked about how much they hated their contractors. They were right--it did take more time and money than initially expected. Some of that was due to supply chain issues related to the pandemic, but most of it was related to the shoddy workmanship of the seller and the surprises he left us. None of it was due to the contractor. Before, during, and after the work was was done, we didn't hate our contractor, we felt incredibly grateful to have found him. He saved our house, our sanity, and our investment. When we found new problems we felt fortunate to have someone we trusted to take care of so many unexpected surprises. After the repairs and remodeling were done inside, we again hired GoodHands to remove a cheap plastic lattice and metal structure outside and replace it with a custom-designed cedar pergola stained to match the house. As I write this, we had an electrical problem in the kitchen and thought we needed a couple of outlets replaced. One of the crew checked it for us and found plastic pieces inside the disposal that tripped the GFI switch causing the outlets not to work. It was just a small example of how GoodHands continues to save us time and money. I don't know how they came up with the company name but with GoodHands Builders we really are in good hands!

By the end of the investigation of problems we had every French door leading to a deck replaced and 50% of our hardwood floors. Tyler came highly recommended from our mediator and he wasn't wrong. Goodhand was very professional and kept us understanding what was happening throughout the whole process. They completely interfaced with our insurance company to get the budget for the build to the right level and would always go back to them when something new was discovered. To say there were road bumps is an understatement....what made us so happy was Goodhand would never settle for just OK. if they found an electrical problem when they opened a wall it absolutely had to be fixed. I know a lot of contracts who just sweep problems under the rug but not this team. Does the best come at a price? I think the answer is always yes. I'm sure you can find a cheaper alternative out there but if you want your project done correctly with professionalism this is your 1 stop shop period. Highly recommend!

Read the report and paid plumber for my own independent inspection. Found out there were root intrusions between the drain pipe coming out of the house and up to the septic tank. I specifically requested to replace that pipe because I wasn't comfortable with having "minor root intrusions" as they coined it. Minor intrusions for me means the pipe is broken and dirt is going inside and roots are growing Six months after, we had a sewer back up inside the house and found out they didn't replace the whole pipe and also learned after digging by the company we hired that one segment of the pipe coming out of the house had holes and was never replaced.

Found Cavalier Builders through Yelp and they came to the rescue! The entire team is amazing and while big home projects are often stressful, Sharon and his team made it a positive experience. The biggest thing for me was that they were able to complete the work (including clean-up) within the timeframe we agreed on. When we consulted Sharon with our project, he had a "can do" mindset and really listened to what I wanted while also giving solid advice. I've had bad luck with contractors before and been gaslit at times, but Sharon's approach of having an actual conversation and putting the customer first made us go with his team. While most remodels require you to acquire materials on your own, Sharon connected us with Tile and Shower door folks (and they also had nothing but good things to say about him). I appreciate how he'd always check in to make sure we have all the items ready (i.e. vanity, toilet, etc.), and he'd always drop in to check on the progress. Eddie and his team were absolute professionals and do everything with care and precision. Really liked how he'd always double-check things with us down to the smallest detail (e.g. paint colors, door hinges, etc.). Pricing, I'd say they're within average of the estimates we received. Totally worth it and highly recommend them. Next time I have another big project, I'm definitely reaching out to them.
