Very good value for money, it acts as a cheap cinema option whilst still providing good sound, seating and picture quality. The only downfall is the location isn't very accessible without the option of driving. The theatre is clean comfortable and well maintained and arranged so that everybody has an unblocked view of the screen. Although large, the cinema is easy to navigate and staff are helpful to giving direction if necessary. This has been me go to cinema and have never had a poor experience. read more

Vue Birmingham Star City. Disgusted!! From the carefree rubbish service, no guiding/monitoring of the queues, staff talking/laughing amongst each other when customers are waiting 45 mins or more, to the temperature in the cinema being so high that i struggled to keep my eyes open and kids falling asleep and others said the same. This is a hideous excuse for a cinema. Not my first bad experience here neither hence my review here. Spoke to the Manager and his response was "what do you expect on an opening weekend?" SERIOUSLY?? What a stupid response!! Well let me inform you... I expect you to have a proper queuing system which is fair and tended to promptly and professionally, I expect a dedicated service by staff members serving me with a little sense of sympathy for all the ppl waiting and getting late for their movies through no fault of their own. Which other cinema do you have to turn up over 1 hour before the movie in order to wait in a long queue whilst watching others form their own ques, it defeats the purpose of paying in advance online?! I WILL NEVER ATTEND THIS CINEMA EVER AGAIN!! The manager (an older asian guy with whitening beard in a suit), didn't care for his name tbh, made a bad experience worse with such a stupid response, standing around like a lampost, atleast a lampost provides light, much more useful than you. This was after I had already called for him before the movie started and he walked off pretending to be busy. Poor management and sick of the service. Will be telling everyone to avoid. Don't waste 3 hours of your life like I had to. People work hard for their money and if we spend it we have a reasonable right to watch our movies with comfort and ease. There are much better cinemas local, will be sticking to those. I stormed out of the cinema after the silly basic response from the Manager, he needs retraining or moving to the toilets, maybe he can be of some use there, however i doubt it. Located top floor in Star City, Vue is one of the biggest Cinema complex in UK and Europe. Has 30 Screens. Cineworld and Odeon Birmingham (12 screens) comes nowhere close to Vue. Offically opened by George Clooney when Vue hosted the Premiere of The Perfect Storm. Attended by Mark Wahlberg also before he was the megastar he is now. It is the premiere cinema for international audience, showing a wide range of films from hollywood to bollywood. with so many screens you most likely going to find showing of films that aren't showing in other cinemas. Other cinemas give most time to their big screens to blockbuster films and not much for indie smaller films. I recently watched my favourite movie of the year (so far) Edge of Tomorrow for the third time. I mostly go to Cineworld and can't remember last time I watched anything in Vue. The seats are comfy, much more than Cineworld. The leg room is big and don't feel like you're up in someone's way. I had such a good time watching a movie here and could see myself coming here more often. Wish they had an Unlimited plan like Cineworld or some sort of loyalty card. Maybe they do but I never saw anything about it or heard they offered that. read more

Oh, how the mighty has fallen! In its heyday this was the ultimate entertainment destination (not just the cinema, but obviously this was a big part of it). Gold screens, upgrades on the seating, 30 screens... now it's just a lobby of self-service machines, a sprinkling of staff working the overpriced food areas, and two-thirds-empty seating in cinemas. We bagged ourselves an upgrade to the leather seats in the cinema by switching to them and hoping nobody had booked them (luckily for us, they hadn't). No disruption during the film (to be expected as there was only twenty people watching, even though it was a Friday night) - however there was a good half hour of trailers to get through before the actual film started. Here's my thinking: in this world we are in (at least the civilised/Internet-connected world, anyway) you either pay for something, or you sit through adverts - why am I taking time out of my day here to do both? I think that Trailer Creep (pushing the film forward so you can squeeze more adverts in) is either a sign that the box offices are skint, or the box offices are making too much. Based on the lack of staff and the lack of customers, I'd say it was the latter. I have a thing with my business where I can get a cinema ticket for a fiver, and an adult ticket here is about £9, so it's a substantial saving. And the parking is free. But, you know, I just wouldn't come back here. I'd still probably go to Touchwood or something else like that. I'm not sure why. My advice for anyone who is wanting to come here, is do it not expecting much. Don't expect to be amazed, because you won't be. If you just want to watch a movie, then that's fine ... oh, and your actual film will start at least 20 minutes after the advertised time. Go get yourself a drink beforehand. read more

Starcity is massive, and the VUE is no exception. We went here to watch the Avengers, definitely a great movie theatre. Really easy to order tickets. I'm still shocked at how expensive movie tickets prices are, but hey, at least at the VUE you get really comfortable seats and a nice large screen. There were quite a few places around that I wanted to check out and dine at (like Oodles of Noodles!) but hopefully another time. Tons of things to do for kids inside the StarCity area, too. read more

Vue Cinemas - Outside of the Vue - Cinema Near Me - Birmingham, XWM

I was given two free tickets to Vue cinema so my partner and I decided to pay a visit last week. We decided to catch an early showing so that we could go out for a drink afterwards. Despite arriving at 6.30pm on a Friday evening the cinema waiting area was already pretty busy. Parking was quite difficult, but we had no problem getting our tickets and heading to the right screen. Seat numbers are allocated at this cinema but we were given a choice of where we wanted to sit when picking up the tickets. The actual theatre wasn't particularly crowded which was nice. The screen was very large and the seating was comfortable. The arm rests also lift up allowing for a sneaky little cuddle. There are 30 screens at this cinema which is pretty impressive, but it does mean that there is probably some variation from theatre to theatre. Part way through the movie I decided to get a drink but the queues for the snack counter were far too long. I did feel that on a Friday night they could have done with additional staff to help keep the queues down. Further investigation led me to a drinks machine but it was unfortunate that I had already missed ten minutes of the film by then. read more

Large cinema complex within Star City. The best thing about this cinema is that there are a large number of screens which enables you to choose between a bigger selection of showing times than at other cinemas. The seats are fairly comfortable and there is a useful cup holder between each seat. One main complaint is the lack of staff serving at the popcorn counter and ice cream parlour. I had to queue for 45 minutes to get a drink which was really frustrating. Both counters only had one member of staff and at one point two more members of staff came over and started messing around with the till that was currently in use which delayed the process still further. I would recommend this if you can't get tickets at the Electric (best cinema in Brum!) but allow plenty of time if you want drinks or snacks! read more

A massive cinema with loads of screens you are bound to find something here you want to see! They do a kids am at the weekend where it is £1.50 for a child and adult to go and see a film that is a fairly recent release, for example next week I plan to go and see Journey to the Centre of the Earth, which was only out maybe 2 months ago. Huge cinema with so many films showing at so many times that you can literally just turn up and you know something will be on. Plus they are they only cinema in Birmingham to show so many Bollywood films (usually at least 5 at a time). Also on weekends, kids screenings are free for adults and less than a couple of quid per child - bargain! They have a Gold class area here, this has its own bar and large luxurious leather seats, all of this costs more and is only with certain films, but well worth it for a treat now and then. Queues can get pretty long in half terms and after 5pm, but you can avoid this by booking over the phone or online. read more

This cinema's pretty good. I go here for the bigger film releases, to the Gold Class. It's a bit more expensive, but you do get free pop corn, there's a special waiting area with a bar. Alcohol can be consumed in Gold Class. You get a full lazy-boy style arm chair with LOADS of space and electronic controls for the seat. The picture is good, the sound is amazing. It feels like there's a subwoofer in the seat. You also get ushered to your seat! Over 18's only, so less potential immature distractions than normal! read more

It takes a lot to really annoy me but this cinema really did. You have to buy the tickets at the food stations now so of course the queues are ridiculous. The staff were going at snail pace and the customers took ten years to make a decision. I find it unfair that someone who is simply buying tickets has to wait behind a bunch of people in front who are ordering their body weight in sweets. The seat allocation thing really annoys me too. I also just saw a couple bring their newborn child into the screening clearly showing how idiotic and selfish people are. read more

Not a fan of Star City, and would only visit this cinema if nowhere else was showing what i wanted to see. However, the Gold Class cinemas with their reclining chairs and private bar, elevate it from one star to three stars, if there's something i want to watch in comfort. read more

I love this cinema. I have only been there once as I do not live in birmingham but it was a really pleasant experience. The staff are polite and helpful. They have a lot of screens so there is not massive gaps between each showing of a film. the seats are comfortable and the screens are bag. it is very clean and looks new. They have all the facililties (toilets, candy king, food, etc.) . I would recommend this cinema. read more

I really like most Vue cinemas that ive been to, and this is no exception. I love the decor and styling of these places and i find them very welcoming and comfortable. Vue prices tend to be pretty reasonable by todays standards, and from memory i think most films ive seen here have been around the five or six pounds mark (though they do have discount days and special offers from time to time as i recall). The range of films they show goes from childrens movies and animation to the latest blockbusters and more arthouse films, and everything gets rotated fairly quickly although not before you get a reasonable chance to see that must have movie. Theres a good range of drinks, popcorn and other hot and cold snacks available at sensible prices. Parking is easy and theres always been space when ive driven there. Highly recommended. read more

Vue cinema in Star City is an excellent place to watch all the new films and in particular it is known for showing Bollywood films. Vue is one of the largest cinema's in birmingham and is ideal for a family day out to watch a animated movie, or horror or even action. I quite like this cinema. It's a bit out of the way, so I tend to only go to it if I have to - if it's showing something that none of the other cinemas are showing, which is usually only the case with free preview screenings. It's decorated really interestingly, with huge matinee displays of old film classics, and art deco weirdness about. Price-wise, it's about the same as any other cinema. It has a lot of screens and a lot of choice, though it does tend to be mainstream and Bollywood rather than European movies or American/British indies. The staff are very helpful, though the ticketing system can be a bit difficult to get to grips with. Buying your ticket from the popcorn stand seems odd. I went there recently for a free preview screening of The Hangover (excellent film) and the place was so full, people were turned away. The manager actually gave them free tickets for another film though, which was a fantastic gesture. I'm looking forward to this Gold Class the other reviews mention! read more
