First time eating here and it was on a Taco Tuesday. They had a discounted menu for Taco Tuesday so we took advantage. The $3 tacos were great and for me, 3 were all I needed to leave full. Obviously you should get an appetizer like chips and queso or anything else in the menu as it is all good. The only feedback I have is about the nacho chips which are a bit too thick for my liking. The rest of the people in my party felt the same. Service was on queue and their recommendations were spot on. Oh, do t forget about the drink specials for Taco Tuesday. I didn't have any food so this review is solely based on the vibe and the bartender I wish I remembered her name she was short and cute and knows how to shake up a drink!! We wanted something different and she recommended a jalapeño margarita I'm not a huge fan of jalapeños but I was willing to try it and to my surprise it was actually good. I enjoyed the bitter sweetness with a Lil heat, definitely different but good enough for a try. My girlfriend on the other hand wasn't a fan so like the good man that I I fully supported her by finishing her drink . Next time I'll have some food and give this joint a full review. PS: we did have chips and salsa, well honestly speaking if I wouldn't go to jail for assault I'd throw this plate at the chef!!! The Chips were harder than Pre-calculus course wasn't expecting this at all and didn't touch those chips. Fantastic drinks. They have so many drinks that seem "skinny", basically made without mixes, which I love. I wanted to try so many of them. My friends got a mimosa and it was a huge pour. They are not skimpy on the drinks here. I tried a Smoky Mango Madness and a Royal Hibiscus. Both were delicious and I'd absolutely get it again. I was surprised they only had one bartender, who was also our server, at noon on a Saturday. The restaurant wasn't that full though, so maybe they will staff up later. Our server was very sweet though and handled our table of six pretty well. We were here for brunch so I got the egg bowl. I wanted it with duck confit, but they were out so I pivoted to shrimp, which was still good. It was a good amount and very filling. The décor of this place is so fun. It's bright and festive. This place may not be hopping all night long but when they open, they do a great job in every aspect. I recommend you come out on a taco Tuesday and taste all the different flavors and all the different variations of tacos you can get ~ with a discount! Even appetizers are percentage off... New concept, probably still working out kinks? Chips are the heavy, hard, sometimes crack-your-teeth type. I hope they change this to something that is more enjoyable and doesn't weight you down with oil...we couldn't finish the guac because the chips were too much to overcome. Guac was good. Queso was good. But at $14-$15 EACH, they need a different price point, perhaps by adding them as a side option. Quesadillas were also expensive considering the generic assembly. $4 for a small cup of dry rice was disappointing. Beans were fine. Tacos were good, but again, super oily. My whole party wished there was as a more classic salsa and chips, as opposed to the pure liquid sauce. In short, we love the concept but wish the classics were more on point. And $95 for a small family lunch (without alcohol) definitely won't be a routine option! read more

We've been to Vudu Taco twice now & unfortunately, it's just plain disappointing. We went for the Tuesday night special & the hose margaritas were watery. The traditional carnival tacos were really fatty, almost inedible, and the service was really, really slow and inexperienced. I also think sharing a kitchen with the Italian place next door, while innovative on paper, actually works. The owners should probably taste their own food and think hard about making changes if they expect to stay in business. read more

Location always good, drinks always good, same cooks as old restaurant. Ive had food poisoning twice in my life and once from Catch and now Vudu tacos. Took 1 bite of a pork belly taco and i knew it wasnt cooked enough- soft and raw. Got sick from undercooked shrimp so on a caesar salad when it was Catch. Great tacos and great service. The atmosphere was nice, but the acoustics made it really loud when it got busy. It was nearly impossible to hear my friend across the table. We got the fish, shrimp, pork belly, and chicken crunch tacos. They were all really good. It made me wish I had ordered more! We also got the house margaritas, which were bogo before 6 pm. Good 1st experience at Vudu Taco a recently opened restaurant that opened in West Park Village. The Taco establishment splits the space formerly occupied by longtime West Chase favorite Catch 23. In the makeover the seafood restaurant space is now split so that a portion of the space is VUDU Taco and a larger space is devoted to an Italian Pasta restaurant Memo. Have made a couple of visits to Vudu Taco at this point. Made a visit during the soft opening and then again on Grand opening Day. We had drinks, a Margarita and I had a Key Lime mojito which was perfect. As an appetizer we had the Guacamole bowl. Nothing spectacular there. Guacamole was a relatively simple recipe. Fresh and an ample portion but a simple recipe which to my taste made it somewhat bland. Chips ok, portion adequate for two. Main course was the Wet Burrito with ribeye steak as an added protein. This was very good. Lots of choices for fillings and sauces so something for everyone I think. Vudu Taco is open for brunch on the weekend so I will be looking to try some of the egg centric breakfast dishes. My second visit was on the day of the Grand Opening. Much more of a crowd. Music in the bar Vudu Taco dining room. Lots of folks no doubt like the music but my preference is to sit a bit removed from the music. Lots of fun for some but a bit intrusive for me. As a longtime resident in Westchase and a frequent patron of Irish 31 and Catch 23 when one restaurant or the other has live music I usually land up across the street at the other restaurant. The distance makes the music perfect for me. Not a criticism, just my taste. Great server Danielle on my 1st visit. Very knowledgeable and polite. A little hectic because they were hiring and I think waitress had to cover tables inside the building and on the patio. I rarely choose to eat inside if I have a choice. Generally prefer the ambience and the people watching. One thing I noticed was the lack of umbrella's to protect from the sun which can be brutal when it's overhead or around dinner time. There is still a covered area which in the Catch 23 days allowed patrons to eat outside under protection should a midday rain strike. Not sure but in talking to a friend who had dinner at Memo the covered area with an awning was on the Vudu Taco side of the building. My friend who also prefers dining under the sun or stars wanted to avoid the sun to a degree but was told that the wait staff for Memo did not the make the walk to the Vudu Taco covered portion of the outdoor seating. Not a deal breaker I guess because one can simply opt to sit indoors if the heat or sun is oppressive. Our server Danielle was moving over to Memo once the restaurant is fully staffed. The service was disastrous, received the wrong order, at the wrong time (appetizer came after main course) and to boot the wrong appetizer was delivered. Asked for a cup with ice, waiter never brought it and I had to walk up to bar to ask for it. The table was unbalanced and we almost lost our beverages. Regretfully we will not be returning! I visited Vudu Taco this weekend, and it was beautiful weather to sit outside on their patio. When I first walked in, I was immediately greeted by a server, and he told us to sit wherever we wanted. When we got to the patio, it seemed like there were more high-top tables than low-tops, which, for me, as a shorter person, was a bit tricky to get up on. Nevertheless, I did, and it was okay. Our waiter came over quickly and asked if I wanted anything to drink. I ordered a margarita and a water. Soon enough, they came out, and the margarita was the best one I've had in a while. The taste wasn't too strong in terms of the alcohol, yet it had the perfect balance between it and the lime flavor. Shortly after, our waiter came back and asked if we'd like to start with any apps. We were really hungry, so we decided to get to the point and just ordered entrees. I ordered three battered fish tacos, and he ordered a chicken bowl. To be fair, a nice thing would have been to automatically have three tacos instead of buying them separately, maybe even a better deal. Once the food came out, I was excited. The tacos looked very good and the fish included within looked tasty and it was a good amount. On the other hand, my boyfriend's chicken bowl was lack luster. He wasn't pleased with the portion size and he didn't feel that he was getting the bang for his buck. However, we ate, and the food was good. I really enjoyed my tacos, the sauce that was on them was perfect and the inclusion of the mangos was a great idea. Super excited to try this place. This restaurant is one of two restaurants that used to be the old Catch 23 and has been split into Vudu Taco and Memo's. We love supporting restaurants in our area, but what a hot mess our night out was. The restaurant was not super busy. They literally only had a few servers, and these people seemed to be doubling as bartenders at times. We ordered drinks. Everyone's drink arrived except my husband's. It was forever before the server came back. Did not remember that he forgot the drink. Okay, whatever. At least another 20 minutes go by before they brought his drink after yet another reminder, and the server telling him oh we don't have that, and this was still after several reminders. Then the few servers they had constantly kept trying to deliver other people's orders to our table. That was getting old. I ordered another drink because this is seriously how long it took to get anyone to come back. Never brought it. But brought a drink for my friend that she did not order. Again, WTH. Food arrived. Order was mixed up. We just dealt with it. Still trying to drop food off for other tables. Then they finally bring my drink. Wrong drink. Omg. Seriously, so frustrating!! Finally after all of this, and when I am 3/4 of the way through my meal, and after asking other servers, finally get the correct drink. It was delicious, but what an ordeal. Never have a server checking back on us. Food was average at best. Chips and salsa were decent. Drinks were very good when you could finally get them. Food was semi cold. Decent, but nothing to brag about and overpriced. Received our bill. We asked the server to split our bill with the other couple. He obviously ignored that and just brought ours. Comped the beer that my husband finally got after over 30 minutes. Did not comp the insane screwup with my drink or even say anything about it. We just paid. Never asked if we wanted anything else. When I say I have never had a crazier ordeal about mixups, probably the worst we have ever experienced in a restaurant. Ever. $75 for an average meal and horrible service or lack thereof. We left a tip. Not sure why. Will not be back. We went next door to Memos after dinner for a few more drinks. Outstanding drinks!!!! Great service from the girls working at the bar. Very friendly and attentive service, and what you would expect from a great bar. But....the servers were still trying to deliver someone else's food to us at the bar. WTH. Would go back to Memo's. Will not step foot in Vudu again. It's a shame. The place is obviously poorly run, poorly trained employees, and obviously no one cares. Just the strangest restaurant experience ever.
