I'd try to slip in earlier during happy hour to beat most of the crowd because it started getting pretty packed on our way out. Our server Demetrius was very attentive and knowledge about the menu even making sure to include some of his personal favorites into the recommendations. He also offered to bring us more chips for our queso once we ran low. I really wanted the craftsmanship of a cocktail without the alcohol and fortunately they offer a non-alcoholic tequila alternative that can be used in any of their drinks. For my meal I had the island jerk tacos which surprisingly had a really good jerk flavor, the simple chicken taco, and the OTC street corn. I have been to Agave Social a handful of times now and each time has been a little different. The good: the wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant has a fun and vibrant vibe. The queso fundido is always a hit with chips that are crisp and salty goodness. The hot honey plantains are yummy! The umami steak taco, the cheeseburger taco and volcano shrimp taco are must tries. The mid: I have been there when they were slammed and have been there between lunch and dinner when they were on the slower side. The food seems to take a long time no matter how busy they are. When they are slammed, I absolutely understand why it might take a little longer to get a couple tacos and a salad however, when I was here last week, it was after the lunch rush and it took much longer then expected. The manager came over to apologize and comped our queso and chips due to the delay. When our tacos came out, they looked amazing but 3 of us had ordered the grouper taco and asked for no hot takis, yet all 3 came out with takis. Also, the hot honey chicken taco was over fried and had an almost burnt taste. As long as the food initially took, we weren't going to send anything back so we scraped the takis off the fish tacos and didn't finish the chicken taco. Will I go back? Absolutely. When my friend suggested it, I looked it up and saw that they are from the people who brought us "Shaker and Peel" and "Craft Street Kitchen" which are both places I love. We went on a Saturday and got there right when they opened (11am.) The place was wide open, and we chose a table in the "patio." While it feels semi outside, it was not too hot at all because there is a roof, screens and fans. There is a brunch menu on Sunday, but not Saturday so we chose a variety of items. I had a jerk chicken taco and the mahi taco and they were fabulous. One friend got a couple regular chicken tacos and the other tried the sides of plantains and potatoes. We also had chips and cheese, also muy bueno! We can't get Mexican without tasty bevs so let's talk cocktails. Awesome! Two of us got the margarita flights, where you get a taste of three different margaritas. This is the way to go if you want to try different things. Came here bc I got a coupon for a free app from the Yelp Event and I had never been here. I didn't know they were in the same group as Shaker and Peel which I do love. We started off with the Korean Chicken Wings. We had the sauce on the side in case it was too spicy for us. The wings were meatier which was nice but I didn't love the flavor of the sauce. It does have a little kick at the end but I was okay with that. Not too much heat. Just the flavor was not a fave. I then ordered three tacos. The volcano shrimp was my fave, then the umami steak. The grouper was a disappointment but I was trying to make sure I didn't get the spicy elements of it. I ended up getting a very plain fish taco that was the least fave. My husband got the gaucho bowl which he liked. I thought it was ok but I didn't love it either. The steak was too chewy. The other ingredients in the bowl made it better especially the pickled onion. It was nice also not to have any rice. I love a layering of flavors but there was too many spicy elements on these tacos from what I saw on the menu. I can see how it is similar to the menu and options at Shaker And Peel and definitely loved it much better there. It's in Oldsmar so it's def a distance from each other. The server was nice, but for a while she was MIA. I asked someone else for silverware, I waited a while for water refill. And a while to get my fish taco changed since it did appear to have jalapeño on it while I had mentioned I couldn't tolerate much spicy. I am glad I tried it, but it's not a repeat. Something to note, it was busy and I put my name on the waitlist and it was a very short wait but when they ask if inside, patio or first available, say inside if you want A/C because I don't realize the patio was just screened in and unless the weather is nice and not dead of summer, you will feel the heat and the sun can hit you in the eye. It was chunks of red and golden beets with small dollops of whipped ricotta and drizzled with a light dressing and topped with micro greens and granola. I had the salmon bowl. I've never tasted salmon like this... It was crispy on the outside, but didn't look battered or deep-fried. I asked the server and she said it was pan seared. The inside was moist and flavorful. It was served on a bed of rice with bok choy. My friend had the Cali bowl. It was roasted cauliflower marinated in Peruvian spices and other veggies. It was so good. Came for Taco Tuesday... stayed for the flavor! Swung by Agave Social after work, and while the place was buzzing with post-office energy, I lucked out with a spot at the bar. There was already a waitlist forming, which is always a good sign. Ordered a Negra Modelo, took in the atmosphere - music was playing at a mellow volume beneath the hum of conversation, and a few TVs were on, but it didn't feel like a sports bar. Just the right balance. From the folks behind Craft Street Kitchen, Shaker & Peel, and Zim Zari, I expected solid food--and Agave delivered. It was Taco Tuesday, so I went all in. Tacos are a la carte, mix and match, no substitutions. I got four tacos for $13.50, which felt like a great deal considering the creativity and quality. Here's the breakdown: Hot Honey Heat (House Favorite) Buttermilk fried chicken, habanero honey, garlic pepper aioli, pickles, and corn slaw on a flour tortilla. Crispy, sweet-heat perfection. 10/10 Notorious P.I.G. Pulled pork, agave BBQ, jalapeño slaw, garlic pepper aioli, and salt & vinegar chips on a corn tortilla. Tasty, but the flavors didn't pop as much. 7/10. Deep South Grouper Tajin beer-battered gulf grouper, cabbage, jalapeño aioli, tomatillo chow-chow, and hot Takis on a corn tortilla. Spicy with great texture and crunch. 8/10 Double Barrel Brisket Smoked brisket, tequila-agave BBQ sauce, slaw, jalapeño, aioli, and crispy onions on a corn tortilla. Bold, smoky, and layered. 10/10 Overall, Agave Social is a must-visit for taco lovers. Great atmosphere, creative food, and solid service. I'll definitely be back to try more. read more

Been here several times...because I love tacos. They do them pretty well here, too. The Simple Chicken, Wagyu Cheeseburger Taco, Umami Steak, and Hot Honey Chicken are delish, and the Volcano Shrimp and Notorious PIG are pretty good. They are small, and sometimes the proportion of ingredients is off and aren't as flavorful as other times, but still pretty good. The Korean Chicken Wings were so good, but the Birria Empanadas were really odd and no one in our party cared for them. They have a large covered, partially outdoor dining area that is very nice and a smaller indoor dining area, separated by a decent sized bar area. Our server was wonderful, incredibly attentive, and we were sat pretty quickly although it was a Monday night; other times I've been here it's been pretty packed. The menus smelled odd. I know it's a strange thing to notice, but we noticed a strange odor when we sat down, and it was the menus....they looked clean but smelled funky. read more

Great food, service, ambience and overall experience! Came here on a weekday for a quick dinner and it did not disappoint! We tried pretty much one of each taco prett, but my favorite was the hot chicken and the shrimp. The prices are very reasonable and it's fully loaded.
