We were in loots for dinner so we googled speakeasies near where we were to see what we can find. Came across this place and it is definitely a hidden gem. You enter through the International Beergarten. There is a bookshelf with a keypad that you enter the code in. In order to get the code, you need to check out their Facebook or Instagram page. Love all of the mystery behind the entrance. Upon entering, it was the quintessential speakeasy vibe, black walls, moody, lighting, and nice furniture. The mixologist that assisted us was Marcus. He is indefinitely on top of his game. My husband and I both just gave him our flavor profiles and he knew exactly what to do. We had two different drinks, but with the same alcohol base and all of the drinks were on point. I would definitely return and bring friends. read more

My friend recently showed me this spot and we had a wonderful time! We went in through the back parking lot and I was amazed when I walked in! The ambiance and decor is so nice and unique. I felt so classy! The bartenders were all incredibly nice. Chris was the one tending to us but all the others were happy to help and constantly asked if we needed anything. They had a small menu but they can also make whatever you ask for if you give them a specific drink or just tell them what you like. My friends and I left to go eat at a restaurant nearby and came back afterwards. When we walked in, Chris saw us and immediately named off the 3 drinks we ordered earlier to see if we wanted another round. The whiskey with banana bread was amazing!!! I asked for hurricane which wasn't on the menu but Chris made me a delicious one. I also asked for something special for my friend who was celebrating her engagement. He made us some really tasty shots (even told me the price ahead of time without me having to ask) and set her shot on fire which was such a nice touch. Things I like: I loved my experience at BABs Secret Lounge and the bartenders are great. You can order off the menu, order a seasonal drink, or discuss with the staff the types of cocktails you like and they will create something special for you. Both times I visited I had drinks created for me and I loved everything I tried. Things I didn't like: Nothing! I loved visiting the Secret Lounge, but I'd suggest coming earlier rather than later in the night since the lounge is small and can get full rather quickly. What a fun speakeasy - you can find their code on their Instagram page. They change it weekly! It is located inside the International Beer Garten in Odessa. You look for the bookshelf and type in the 4 digit code onto the keypad (make sure to hit the larger arrow button to submit and open door.) It's a small space but it looks beautiful - dark and moody, bar seating, a large table in the middle and some small chairs to sit. It gets busy during peak hours. Came on a Friday evening (7pm) and it got crowded real quick. Not quite your typical "speakeasy" place -- they play super loud music and the ambiance doesn't feel too "secret". There's only about less than 10 stools at the bar, small couch section on one end and two chairs on other. If you're coming with a group, you'll have to find a place to stand at the middle long table. The cocktails are delicious and are about $15 a piece. Cool place to check out at least once and would probably be better to come on a random weekday when it's not busy to get a better "speakeasy" experience. read more

But they seem pretty unique and the bar tenders are very knowledgeable. Iv had them make things off the menu and they add their own twist. It's a nice place to go after dinner for one or two drinks. Otherwise it's not very realistic for a date spending over $100 just on drinks. That's what I would expect downtown Tampa on Water Street. read more

We didn't enter the lounge through the secret door, which ruined the fun and had me confused as to why it was called a speakeasy; but later we discovered the actual entrance when my friend joined us through the correct door. The place is extremely small, dark, and intimate. The cocktails were delicious and creative. I didn't have a drink that I would say "uhhh never having that again". Keep in mind, there is no food on the menu. There was one bartender and he was attentive to our needs. My only gripe was the lack of social distancing during this pandemonium, which caused me to take 1 whole star away. When we arrived it was just 5 of us total. Then in a matter of 1.5 hours, a large group of like 15 people entered this tiny establishment without masks and I could just see the COVID virus swirling through the air (figuratively speaking) which left me uncomfortable and contemplating why I bothered to venture out my house. However, I did enjoy the place and return in the future when things settle down. read more

Follow them on instagram for the password. It's a great little gem inside the biergarten. Great place to take some visitors late at night. My recommendation is have a little houseparty (no more than six guests), then head over to the biergarten which plays live music on the weekends, then head inside the speakeasy if you want to impress your guests. It's a very small space and not a lot of seating (docked a star for comfort), but it's the experience of seeing the bookshelf slide open that is pretty cool. They only make mixed drinks, they are very good, and they have very limited seating. Overall, it's a nice place to go when you are feeling adventurous or want to show someone new the cool things in the area. Afterwards, you can cross the street to Glory Days grill for some great food. Best late night food there is. They were kind enough to take us in 20 min before the kitchen closed. Service was excellent and we greatly appreciate them taking our orders. I highly recommend a visit to the speakeasy, give your guests something cool to talk about. read more

I was disappointed that it was so busy and there is a giant sign on the door that says "Secret Lounge".. this seemed like it defeated the whole purpose of a speakeasy. The bartender was very friendly and he made us some great drinks. They have a list of fancy cocktails or you can request anything you'd like. We were allowed to take our drinks to the patio since it was so crowded. I had the Bonfire and it was very good. It was fun to watch him add the marshmallow and light it on fire with a torch before handing it to me. I used to love coming here when in town. Went in this past Friday it was crowded that the bar staff was rushing. Ordered a gin martini dirty and my drink was full of ice. Like 25%. And the olives were oil based so you saw the drink separate. Saw they were using pubic tonic and soda and not something like fever tree. Kinda sad for a 15-16 dollar cocktail. My husband and I stopped in after looking for some bars near us to toast to our long awaited, much needed baby-free evening & happened upon this bar in our search. There were so few reviews but all of them were glowing so we had to check it out! It's inside of International Beer Garten, behind a bookcase. We had to ask the servers how to get in & they pushed a button and the bookcase slid open to reveal a very cool, intimate cocktail bar. The stark difference in setting was dramatic. As just outside, there was loud live music but in this bar, it was much more chill & quiet. There were 2 bartenders & not very crowded when we first arrived but started to get more packed closer to midnight so we decided to dip to duck the Covid. The cocktails were strong & inventive, also expensive: our bar tab was $100 for 5 drinks but this is to be expected everywhere these days. I wish the music was better, it was mostly country with a couple songs being old school rap (which I would've preferred). I know it's hard to please everyone, so maybe a jukebox? I asked if they could make a specific drink order that saw off of their Instagram and they were out of all the ingredients and didn't really offer me a suggestion for a different drink to try or to make something similar. That was strange to me as a bartender that's kinda of your forte. The kicker for me was that once people were laughing and having a good time, the bartender shushed everybody and told them they needed to keep it down. Putting a bookshelf that doubles as door does not make a BAR a speakeasy. This place was so loud. People shouting AND music playing. Remember what you named this place? A "speak" "easy". Oh and beyond the music and the conversational noise, you can hear the band playing next door through the walls like a cheap hotel. Wait till the "secret entrance" opens up. Then the noise is off the chain! Seating.... can you put more seats AT the bar, better yet, put tons more AT the bar... how is someone not at the bar supposed to even get to the bar! Ok, put a super long table in the middle of the room so it further limits access to the bar. Hey if you get the table, you also have a spot at the bar since no one can navigate though there! What a joke! Ok ok ok. So not a speak easy at all. Maybe a mixology bar?!?! The drink concepts weren't terrible but for the time it took to get a drink, I didn't see one orange peel actually get expressed. Don't just garnish, use it. Hey, that's part of the "mixology" part. How the ingredients work together. I'd recommend this place if you don't want to get hammered at chili's but I've had a better old fashioned across the street at glory days.
