I can not write enough great things about Universal Tires! Where do I start?…read more I came in around 11 to get a price on 2 tires. Mr. Ray, the owner, greeted me by asking my name. (He did not forget it through this whole process.) After getting my tire size, we realized they were not in stock. He advised me they will be in about 3pm today. Since I am visiting the area, I took this as an opportunity to go shopping. While I was out, my car broke down(ish). It started to sputter, shutter, and stall out. I've been traveling, its an old car with high milage so this action did not catch too much off guard. Anyhow, I made my way back to Mr. Ray in hopes he could not only put my tires on my car but help me figure out why I am stalling out and not going over 30mph. I came to a slow roll into his shop. "PUTT PUTT PUTT" and my little Mazda Tribute cuts off. Mr. Ray did not hesitate to try and help even though he said this was out of his specialty. He pushed the gas petal to the floor & a huge cloud of black smoke came out of the back. In conclusion, he put on the tires I needed, checked my oil/topped it off (at no cost), did an all around inspection before I left. What made it ABOVE AND BEYOND service (besides the top off on oil) was the fact he called a muffle shop (as he suspects I had a cat. converter issue) to get some quotes on help. Not only did he call for quotes, he had one of his mechanics FOLLOW me to the shop to insure I got there safely since my car was stalling out. (Follow me to the review on Bob's Mufflers. They are just as awesome!) This shop goes ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty. While shopping for tires, this is the place to go. By the way, 2 tires, after balance and rotation only cost $240. That is for Goodyear new tires. ;) (At Walmart, my tires were $87 each at lowest cost, not including putting them on. That goes to show you how great his price is. )

Indeed, the car was attractive, very competitively priced, and clean. The shop had an excellent of making her look lovely. They performed an alignment, put on new tires, and replaced an indicator light. I thought Amir, the salesman, was polite and did a good job answering my questions on Messenger. It promised to be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. There's no tenderness like before in your fingertips... After I arrived at the dealership the love began to slip away. Amir was simply too busy for me. Over the course of 2 hours, I only got about 20 minutes of his time, and half of that was signing paperwork. I was left to do the research, test drive, and inspect the car on my own. You're trying hard not to show it but baby, baby I know it... When we sat down Amir got stone-faced when I tried to get a lower price (he wouldn't even lower the $599 documentation fee). I would normally appreciate the "no haggle" approach but he also wouldn't deliver on my most basic requests (like ordering a second key or floor mats). You lost that lovin' feelin' now it's gone, gone, gone, whoa-oh... the gas that is. I drove away with a 1/4 of a tank! Amir was friendly and assured us that the car had been thoroughly checked out at their body shop. Ten days after purchase, the battery was no good. Long drive from FV to Raleigh, left the car overnight, borrowed a car from a friend to get to work. Long drive to get the car back. A few days later the engine warning light comes on. Back we go. They keep the car overnight and replace a sensor. Long drive back the next day to get the car. Both repairs covered under their warranty but both had $100 deductibles. Very expensive car when you add all the gas and extra expenses for a car that was supposedly checked out completely. I'd recommend using a different mechanic to test one of their cars before you buy it. I have sent two emails to them beofre I posted this comment but they both came back with a message saying 'undeliverable'.

They align my tires with no cam bolt kit and sad I can go another year on my tires with no problem. I was a lot happier.

They are honest, hardworking, kind, and very knowledgeable. Do they make mistakes? Sure. We all do. Could you get a better deal or a different diagnosis somewhere else? Again, sure. You should always get a second opinion before doing major work. On anything. Just as you would with a medical procedure.
