I've lived in Diamond Bar for over 30 years now. I needed a local Honda mechanic that was knowledgeable and honest, and Oliver, fit the requirements . My son owns a 2016 Odyssey, it has issues, the vehicle alarm kept going off, so much, that it wore out the battery, after replacing it, it continued to set off the alarm, he had th leave the van unlocked. He brought it to he local dealer, they claimed, nothing wrong , he took it to inlaw's family garage, couldn't find any issues. This went on for months, couldn't drive it.when he informed me about it, I recommended my local Honda mechanic. Oliver, determined it was electrical, Honda dealership would only sell entire fuse box assembly, with built in relay, at $$$. Oliver found a used box, it had to be shipped in, waiting a week later, it was replaced. So far, no more issues, it been 2 days now. Yeah for Vtec and Oliver, did a great job again. read more

I just called for an oil change, but the person that answered said that they didn't have time today. I asked how about tomorrow, and the person said no, it is all booked up. I then asked about next week, and that's when the person asked if I visited before. I said no this is my first time, and that's when the person said they only service regular customers. What is the point of the ratings if this Company doesn't allow any new customers? I'm not giving a bad rating since I have not done service here, but if a Company refuses service to new customers, then they should put up a posting/notice for potential new customers. Walked in some hours after they opened and asked for some routine service/ maintenance (oil change, tire rotation, fluid top off, etc.) and a cargo hook replacement ( in the back area) of my Pilot. Guy simply points to some random chart on the wall and asks what number I want. Not being a car guru or knowing wtf Im looking at on the wall, I simply state that my vehicle is at 20%. He states my vehicle needs an oil change at 15% and not 20%. Well for me, 20% is close enough to 15% and I'd rather not wait until 15%, as I have a lot of miles to drive each day and I don't have every single day of the week off/free to bring my car in for service. When I took my Acura MDX to see Oliver, I wasn't expecting much after two other places(including a dealership) giving me very bad news(PCM fried and they couldn't find the part), but within one 24 hours after dropped off the vehicle, not only it was done with repairs, but it's less than half of what was quoted by the previous mechanics, and more than triple the warranty on the work! Oliver is an honest mechanic. This is the first time in a long time that i left a mechanic shop without feeling like i got scammed. I have a 2006 Honda Pilot with 200k and the check engine light has been on and was reading that the cylinders was misfiring. I got the drive belts and timing belts done too along with one of the engine mounts which was cracked already. Oliver was impressed that i keep the truck well maintained. So far truck runs great. After purchasing an used Honda CR-V in 2007 from a friend, he recommended me to do maintenance at V-Tec as he always did. Oliver had been taking care our cars since then. I only went to dealer's shop for recalls and repairs under warranty. All my new cars are Honda's because Oliver only works on Honda and Acura cars. And I can't find another mechanic who is trustworthy as Oliver is. His charge is reasonable and never recommended unnecessary works. (He doesn't have time for those works either.) I am a little worried about where I can go if I move out of the town or after Oliver retires. But I will be a loyal customer of V-etc until the day comes. read more

This time I brought my RDX for routine A17 service. Made an appointment, and out in an hour. Had I brought it to dealership, it would be 2 - 4 hours even with an appointment. Oliver's knowledgeable and helpful, always go to service my Accord. Needed to do a smog test, he scanned and found two issues - the cat and evap. He told me to go for a drive, bout 50 miles, came back and the cat was good but not evap. Drove a good amount for work, came back a week later and all was good. I have been coming here for over a decade now but realized I never wrote a review. I highly recommend Vtec and Oliver. He is a very skilled and super honest (basically the primary things I look for in an automechanic). In the past, Oliver has always been upfront with what my car needs (or doesn't need) and he charges a fair price. Haha, in 2014, when I upgraded from my Civic, I even bought an Acura and took into account that I wanted to keep coming to VTEC in my decisuon. Visited this place many times. Bf (now hubby) has always gone to at least get a second opinion, while I normally come over here to top off on liquids and get a quick maintenance check. Service is excellent. The owner is on point, very honest, and tells you what you need to hear. Which means that if something can go for another thousand miles or so, just come back later and get it done after the thousand miles. He'll take care of things that are important to do, but will not do anything major unless you want it done. He knows his stuff, and can truly tell the history of a car. For example, he had an idea that I probably purchased the car used, and had an idea of how the previous owner drove the car. Very interesting deduction skills! :) Plus, he's super-nice, knowledgeable, and very professional. For seats, there are two chairs inside the office, and two chairs outside the office. Otherwise, you can do what the hubby and I do, which is walk around the area until the car is ready. Prices are very fair. Will be back. :) Be warned that he gets very busy on Saturdays (closed Sundays), and any major work to be done near the holidays will be very difficult for him to do unless you come on a weekday. read more

Oliver is one reliable mechanic. I've taken my `06 Ridgeline there several times, from regular maintenance to major repair (axle, A/C, power-lock). He is always responsive and take pride in his work. I have gone back to get serviced many times and his service is quick and simple. It's important for you to call ahead because he will let you know what time he will be able to service the car and shorten the time you need to wait to get your car back. Not only is the service quick, it is reliable and I've never had any problems with getting my vehicle maintained at this shop. Finding a trustworthy mechanic isn't easy, but I know that I will be sticking to this mechanic shop. Oliver uses OEM parts and is patient in explaining things to you. He will also look out for other things to keep your vehicle safe such as recommended tire and alignment repairs even though he doesn't do that service. Just came in for a brake job and had a wonderful experience. Oliver's extremely nice, honest and is willing to listen to any problems you have or have had with the car and give advice about it. Don't have to worry about skirting around issues or BS; he just tells it how he sees it. I came in just for the brake job, and asked him to look at my AC unit, which needed its Freon gas charged after an AC condenser replacement. Came back an hour and a half later, and he gave back my keys with a huge grin on his face. I went in to pay, drove off, and saw that my AC was working again! Drove back to ask him about it, and he casually said "I just recharged it for you, no charge; it's in the invoice." He probably saw the DoorDash and PostMates bags in the car and just did it as a courtesy. Extremely considerate. Will be coming back in the future! read more

Oliver is a great guy, a really honest, fair and ethical person. He won't sell you repairs you don't need. He will even do some minor repairs for free. We have an old 1998 Honda Accord that already has more than 280,000 miles. We love the car. My daughter is driving it and Oliver understands how important it is to keep the car road worthy but also understands our budget and keeping the cost down. One time, while we were out of town, the check engine light came on. When you are a thousand miles away from your kids, it sure helps a lot when you can have some you can trust to help and take care of these things so my daughter can be back on the road. And he did not charge a penny for the diagnosis! What a guy. He is like family to me. Too bad he only takes Honda and Acura vehicles. Would have liked him to take care of my Toyotas. WORST BUSINESS.....EVER! Are you kidding me? Who's paying these people to write him 5 star reviews? I'm quite sure it's the owner himself. We were disappointed and let down by the place. RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE. My friend, who also used him, got ripped off by $3500. BE CAREFUL! Anyway, onward with my experience -- I called in on a Friday morning to inquire about getting a new timing belt for my car. Was completely let down as we arrived. Owner (Oliver) decided to be extremely rude and patronizing towards us. When we asked when he was available to help me with my timing belt, he says "COME BACK TUESDAY. " Apparently he's too busy and good for us. Really? He also says that he won't take a look at my vehicle at all. Super arrogant. I took a look at his shop. Realllllly? It's not all that. I've seen WAY, WAY BETTER, especially in the cities of LA and OC. Who the F does he think he is? Without wincing, we walked out of there and headed over to a close family's BODY SHOP even though it was an hour away. He took us in without question, without having to speak a word. All I handed him were my keys. He also didn't charge us for labor. at all. Oh my god. I literally experienced the night vs. day of service. Because of this - Oliver, at this place, will NEVER get any business from me or my family. And I'll tell ALL of my friends that I know.
