Reporting a strange interaction on service I wanted completed. I took my car to Longo Lexus 2 weeks ago and the service advisor said to keep an eye out on the water pump as it is rattling and starting to make a lot of noise but no leak at that point. Since then it has been leaking pink coolant fluid so it appears I definitely have a leak. I searched for a Lexus specialist with the mindset that I wanted to change out the water pump as recommended by Longo if I start to see a leak. I called ATC to request a quote as I knew what was wrong with it and what I wanted to replace. He said he doesn't provide quotes without looking at it regardless if the customer already knows what to replace. So he said to bring it by the next day for a diagnosis and when I asked whether my wife can wait there while he diagnosed it he responded with a scoff saying he has many cars to look at and that she will just have to drop it off. I told him this would be difficult as we don't have a spare care but that she would be able to wait if he provided a specific time he wanted her to come. He again scoffed and said it doesn't work that way and told me to just go back to Longo. I was really hoping to give a small business a shot but seems like he doesn't care to gain more business. He could have just given me a quote which I assume would be better than the dealership and I would have hired him. Would have been a 1 star but giving 2 stars to give him the benefit of doubt that he was having a bad day? read more

BEWARE! I just had THE MOST HORRIBLE experience not only with a mechanic, but EVER! The owner was belittling, disrespectful, and dishonest. He wouldn't even provide me with a written quote so that I can share with my husband! I admit, I don't know the language of cars and wanted to make sure I wasn't being taken advantage of (for some reason, I thought I was). He proved me right. He told me the work would be $850. I have NO problem paying for necessary work...but when he couldn't provide an itemized list of work (materials, labor, etc) that was a red flag. He called it a (quote) "package" which was yet another flag. I would highly suggest you get a second opinion before getting work done with him, unless you know cars really well, and he knows NOT to take advantage of you. I will never get my Lexus serviced here again. I've brought my car here before and did have a gut feeling the owner was dishonest. I needed work done, so tried him again today. As a small business owner, I like to support fellow family-owned small businesses. I should have listened to my gut. I would've saved myself a DISRESPECTFUL experience that brought me to tears. I rarely leave Yelp reviews, but was lead to encourage others to at least beware. Don't let his mild-mannered ways fool you. Honest & trustworthy. For 13+ years, Hami has been nothing but upfront, honest, and simply wants the best for you and your car. Examples over the years: I was going to take the kids on their 1st road trip with my old RX350 and was headed to snow & ice. Called ATC for any advice - lighter motor oil, more tire pressure, etc. Hami said to just bring it in. He checked the oil, tire pressures, rest of the fluids, rotated the tires (I think), reminded me to bring a windshield scrapper, and sent me on my way. "No charge. It's just an inspection." Few years later, the pneumatic struts that hold up the hood and the tailgate were kaput. Went to Hami to get them replaced. We spent time talking about how much longer I'd keep the car, why I wanted them replaced, how often I work under the hood myself, etc. His final advice: "Too expensive. I wouldn't do it. Just use a stick to prop up the hood instead." Again, I was on my way. Fast forward to my current family hauler, an AWD Sienna - I wanted an oil change before the big road/ski trip to Utah, so I called ATC. "Why'd you want to waste money? You have free service for the 1st year at Toyota. Just go there." May be Ventura Toyota never told me. But probably I just forgot. On my way again. A few weeks later, I was putting the snow tires on for the Utah trip (I have a 2nd set of wheels with "3-peak" snow tires), but unfortunately, a local tire shop (looking at you, American Tire Depot) totally over-tightened my lugnuts to the point that I couldn't get the last one off even with my 1200 ft-lb impact wrench. Hami to the rescue. Unfortunately, after 30+min, with blow torch, and breaking 3 of his sockets, no luck. Still stuck. "No, no. I couldn't get it off, so no charge." I felt bad, since he's out $$ due to broken tools. I came back with See's Candy for his family. Then, on my way again, this time to Toyota where they had to break off the bolt since the lugnut was completely seized. Thanks again Hami. And American Tire Depot... Anyway, not sure why there are 1 star reviews that describe Hami as dishonest or mean. That's the complete opposite of what I've experienced over the years. Brought car in for repair and I knew what needed to be done. Wanted a quote. The place was empty and the owner was on the phone. Waited for 5 min until he was free. Told him what I wanted done and was questioned on my request. He wanted me to leave the car for the day so he can diagnose and pay the fee. Then he started to say I'm not a mechanic and questioned my generation. At this point I had enough and started to leave. Then he thanked me for visiting. I have been taking our Toyota's to Hami at ATC for ... maybe 20 years now....he is honest and dependable. If something does NOT need to be done, or if it can wait, he will say so. He has never tried to persuade me for some repair that was questionable to me. If there is a repair that needs to be done but it is outside of his expertise he will say so and even recommend a shop for that repair. He will explain WHAT and WHY. He will do the repair correctly and if he does not fix the problem he will do additional work at no extra charge or he will refund your money. Also, he is very personable and patient. I have several stories to tell that each proves my statements above, but just don't want to write that much detail. Highly recommend for any Toyota work. read more

I was so pleased to have been referred to this place by a 5 star YELP mechanic that didn't work on Toyota's. The owner OF ATC is a warm and honest man. It is a small shop and HAMY Is the owner and only mechanic. Unfortunately, the 4Runner was too far gone. He strongly suggested not fixing it because the cost would be higher than the value of a 21 year old car. The owner did say it might be possible to find a shop to do the work for less money. He uses OEM parts and high quality used engines. He explained that even when buying used engines, the higher quality ones cost more. He wants confidence in his work and the warranty he gives. O.K. so people always complain that they can never find an honest, reputable auto repair shop that doesn't rip you off, push you into doing unnecessary repairs, and does high quality work right? Well, come to ATC because this is the place you've been looking for. Hami the owner is a great guy and ATC is everything you have always wanted in a local repair shop. I've worked on my own cars all my life, I grew up that way so I know when someone is feeding me a line or ripping me off. Now at age 54 I don't need or want to be working on my cars, especially my Lexus so I take it to Hami. He will do what needs to be done and nothing more. If he makes a suggestion, it's for a legitimate reason and he'll only suggest "maybe next time you might want to ......" but he says it so that you are not pressured or feel obligated. If your brakes are at 20% he'll tell you that, and suggest you keep an eye on them or plan on servicing them in the near future. Things like that. I recently took my car to ATC because trunk latch closing mechanism wasn't working. Hami suggested that Lexus had a service order on the trunk that might be related to the faulty latch and suggested I take it to the dealer instead and that maybe the dealer might end up fixing it for free. When I went to the dealer (Longo Lexus), they said the latch motor or the computer was defective and gave me a $1,000 estimate to fix it!! Needless to say I took it back to Hami and he fixed it for $85. Bottom line: Honest shop, honest owner, good quality work, ATC gets my highest recommendation. read more

I recently took my 2004 Toyota Highlander here when my maintenance light came on. When I arrived I was greeted by Hami and I let him know that my light came on and that I needed an oil change. He asked how many miles, I just rounded up and said 135,000 miles. He said I needed the major service ($200). I get a call later during the day from Hami and he told me that they already did all the changes but saw that my car was actually 131k miles. He didn't want to charge me for something I didn't need so instead he removed the parts for the major service and left the minor service parts in. He also charged me for the minor service ($60)! He just said to bring it back in 4k miles and he'll do the major service then! Wow! Doesn't get more honest than this! Other places would probably not say anything but not Hami. Not that i wasn't completely sold on Hami before this last experience but let me tell YOU another story. So lately i've been experiencing ALOT of squealing in my brakes and the last time i went to Hami (about 3 months ago) he told me my brakes were good for another 3 months or so. In my head it was perfect timing so i could get my oil change and brakes changed at the same time and anything else he might recommend. i called Hami up and pretty much told him to go ahead and do the brake job and if i needed to replace the rotors or the rear brakes to just let me know how bad they are and i would go ahead and give him the OK to work on it. So, i drop it off with my friend so i don't have to wait there for a multiple hours because Hami is usually busy. Within the hour he calls me back and tells me my brakes are fine! i still have about 30 - 35% left on my pads and that i can just change them with my next oil change. He also let me know my suspension was totally fine and that the truck was perfect as of now. I don't know any other mechanic that would do this, i basically threw money at him and said to go ahead and do it and he threw it right back to me. Hami is the most honest and genuine mechanic/human being that i have met in my life. I already was a customer for life, but now i am actively referring him to ANYONE i know whether they drive a toyota, lexus, scion, or any other make of car. If you're looking for auto repairs on your Toyota, Lexus, or Scion I would definitely recommend this place! Their service is great! I was relieved to find an honest and trustworthy place for my Toyota so close to where I live. I've had shady experiences with car mechanics in the past, esp. as a girl, where I've felt like they tried to play up on my ignorance of cars without thoroughly explaining things to me and overcharging me. In fact, prior to discovering this place, I had stopped by at such a place (it was the closest thing nearby when my car started exhibiting problems) and they charged me $50 bucks or so just to get it check that they said would be "free" if I decided to have them fix my car. However, at ATC, the owner doesn't do any of that stuff! Not only would I have gotten a free checkup for my Toyota at his place, but he was nice enough to show me the part I was getting replaced and to explain to me how it functioned when I had asked. His prices are very fair & reasonable. He also ordered and used the original part for my Toyota. Customer service was great! I needed a ride to get to my work place nearby and his wife was kind enough to go out of her way and give me a ride! I'm definitely coming back to this place for my car repairs! read more

I called and ask how much will labor be if I provide oil and oil filter from the dealer (Longgo Lexus). The person insisted that there Oil is from Japan and that they wont guaranty anything if I use the motor oil that Lexus and Toyota uses. The shop probably thinks that I'm so clueless or stupid. The priority of this business is to make as much money as they can and to take advantage of the people that doesn't know about cars that much. I have a Lexus GS350 2015 F sport, BTW. I understand we all need to eat and make money. Called him over the phone and asked how much it cost to replace an alternator for a Toyota Avalon. Not willing to give me a quote over the phone and told me to tow my car in. When I arrived he said it will cost me $1400 to replace an alternator. Are you kidding me? He has 4.5 stars....but I guess it's all from family and friends or pay people to give him review. I asked him how much is for the parts and he got defensive saying that he doesn't want to argue. Ummm....I think it's a reasonable question. He told me to go away because he doesn't need to explain his pricing to me. Needless to say, I left and found another place that will do it for $400 for parts and labor. Don't go here. Rip off and bad attitude from the owner. According to yelp this place was a "FIND": better price & service than a dealership. But buyer beware 1) his 30k major service was actually $50 more than the dealer's. I guess the latter dont include power steering & brake fluid exchange (not flush) so ok if true. However 2) he insisted on an oil pan reseal & water pump replacement for a total of $1200. I've done both before & these prices are on the upper end. Now he showed me visible pink residue but the water tank never runs low and the car drove down from NorCal with no probs. The main thing is, if there's never any motor oil on the ground, how bad can a leak be? I can't believe he was that insistent, especially with an older car and NO oil stains. He has his points, but good thing I know a thing or two about cars and what's necessary. read more

He also let me know I had to get something fixed because there was a leak but I cant afford it right now so he just refilled it for me as a shortterm fix, no charge. Everyone was right about him being honest about what needed to be done in the near future. He said I needed new tires soon and he was kind enough to refer me to a tire co that had the best prices as well as an Alignment shop. I should've done a review for this shop a long time ago, but at least now I can talk about 3 experiences that I've had here in the past year instead of just the first. My wife bought a used is250 and during the dealer inspection that was done at longo Lexus during the purchasing process (they also did the required smog check for title transfer) from a private seller, worn brake pads was the only problem noted. About a week after the purchase, I took my wife's car to this place since they use oem parts and because of all the good reviews. First, the work was done immediately (it was Saturday) buy one of the workers. While I waited for the rear pads to be replaced, (I already knew the front pads didn't need replacement and that was the first thing the owner said - yup, honest shop) I chatted with the owner and we discussed different maintenance techniques and tips about the Lexus car my wife had just purchased as well as different oils and even diesel mixtures. I have a company that requires the use of commercial trucks with diesel engines and frequently work on them, so I'll say that I'm quite familiar with automotive repairs (while I can and do on occasion do my own maintenance, I prefer to leave the maintenance of my personal vehicles in the hands of others, although by the time I take my vehicle to any mechanic, I've already diagnosed the problem before hand by using my personal scanner and whatnot). So I'll just say this, this guy knows what he's talking about and for as long as my wife owns her Lexus, we'll be taking it here. They changed the pads, charged a fair price and I was on my way. Fast forward a few months, my wife was getting her oil changed at one of those quick oil change shops and was told she should have her transmission fluids replaced. So I called ATC to ask about this and the owner told me that these cars didn't require this. Sure enough, after doing some research on my own, my wife's is250 doesn't require a transmission fluid change/flush like most other cars. Again, this guy isn't trying to hide anything from his customers just to make a buck. Finally, my last experience with ATC will tell you all you need to know about the owner. So I was working out of town when my wife called and said her car wasn't starting. So I called ATC and said my wife would be there soon to get it checked after a jump start from AAA. The owner said he would be leaving soon to pick up his daughter from school but would be back (basically giving me a time frame so my wife wouldn't have to wait). Well, my wife ended up arriving just as he was about to leave and guess what, the owner stayed and diagnosed the problem - bad battery (my wife said she felt bad because she heard him answer his cell phone and could tell that his daughter was calling and he was telling her he was almost on his way, this man cares about his customers, no question). In the end, they needed a day to get the battery, but since a Lexus dealership in Ontario had the part, my wife took her car there to get it taken care of asap. Let me also say that the owner noticed the bad battery was a AAA replacement and mentioned that my wife should call them because the warranty might get her another battery free of charge, or at least at a prorated charge (turns out transfer of title voided this warranty). Nonetheless, the owner went out of his way to take care of my wife's car problem, tried to get her as low a price as possible on the part, and even after all that charged her NOTHING for his trouble. Again, they are getting my customer loyalty. This guy knows what he's talking about and wants to take care of his customers. That's all you can ask for in a mechanic or any other business owner. I know this was a long review, but this shop and the owner deserve a long and thorough review. It's the least I could do after all he's done thus far. read more

I was shocked that I didn't spend more changing an engine. After getting top-notch service and a good deal, I don't think I'll take my car anywhere else. I was looking for a reputable place to take my Lexus for maintenance and found this place through Yelp. I have to agree with other Yelpers that Hami the owner doesn't push any unnecessary repairs to get done. I got the minor service which was an oil and filter change, tire rotation and brake inspection/tightening for about $80, cheaper than the dealer but probably on the high side for an independent repair shop. Had a problem with my engine light coming on and wouldn't pass the smog test. My Lexus was close to 200K miles and I thought it was going to be something costly to fix. He determined that it was just a matter of cleaning the throttle. Charged me a cheap price and told me to drive around and see if the check engine light comes back on. I've been driving around for a couple months and the light still has not come on and my Lexus drives fine. This mechanic is honest and will save you a trip to the dealer. I came here on the advice of a friend and a relative. I was told by a Toyota dealership that I needed to replace my rack and pinion and transmission gasket. I knew I needed to get another quote after the dealership quoted $1200 just for the rack and pinion. Hami took a look at it and did not believe the entire rack and pinion needed replacing. A few hours later, my rack and pinion was fixed and my trans gasket was replaced for a fraction of what it would have cost for a full replacement. I waited for my car in the lobby and had a chance to speak with his very pleasant family. This is a very honest man with a very nice family. read more
