The decor inside and out is typical over the top fun theme park style with a rotating visual menu of the donuts while you wait in line...I went for the voodoo doll basically a glazed raspberry filled chocolate covered stabbed with a small pretzel..was fairly tasty but not spectacular so for the price I may try another time I'm visiting one but not in a hurry to return! We were eating dinner at one of the restaurants in Universal's CityWalk after a long day at the parks & we saw one of the tables next to us w/ this pink box. After we finished dinner & were heading out, we saw another group of people with the same pink box. Our server ended up telling us there was this donut shop not too far away, also in CityWalk, and that they have some phenomenal donuts. Every single time we visit Orlando we MUST stop by to get a donut! They are great, place is always clean, staff is great as well. They have a small gift shop, which is great.. a little pricey but not horrible. At times there is a wait, yet depends on the time of day you go. I ordered glazed , chocolate iced and raspberry. The doughnuts are all fresh and warm Glazed- 5 warm, sweet and fluffy. Chocolate iced- 4 I had this doughnut the next day. Maple Cream Doughnut: Although I believe Voodoo Doughnut now qualifies as a chain, the original location was founded by Portlanders Kenneth "Cat Daddy" Pogson and Tres Shannon in 2003. I finally had the opportunity to visit a location in Chicago last year and this spring I snagged another doughnut while vacationing at Universal Studios Florida. Located in the City Walk area of the resort; Voodoo Doughnut is easy to spot with the building's conspicuous pink coloring and the foodie equivalent of the Iron Throne, an enormous doughnut throne. Their maple cream doughnut is a raised yeast shell filled with Bavarian cream, topped with a thick layer of sweet maple frosting, and decorated with a mustachioed face. It was a bit disappointing that the employee that packed my doughnuts set another doughnut directly on top of it as it smudged the design. On the plus side, this was a delicious doughnut thanks to the thick layer of sweet maple icing/frosting, fresh texture, and legendary amount of Bavarian cream. The massive amount of filling was thick, creamy, and had a faint vanilla flavor. But when we arrived, the service was quite poor and unwelcoming as well as the donuts being stale and honestly quite gross. I had to try it and see what was up with this donut. I tried the voodoo doll which is basically a long John filled with raspberry and a pretzel on top, the other was the mango tango which is mango jelly filled. Both yeast donuts. They do also have cake donuts Mehhhh! The voodoo just tasted like a Dunkin Donut Long John with raspberry in the middle. Nothing wrong with Dunkin, I do like their long Johns, but the line is like saying this donut is everything and people are walking around Universal City Walk with pink boxes like it's their new baby.
