This is a small Von's market that shares parking with CVS. We only stopped in because I told my husband that there was a sale on Tillamook ice cream this week. We recently discovered that we enjoy this brand after having to their Peaches and Cream flavor. I didn't get to browse through the store, but we found what we wanted and left shortly after. This is a small sized Von's located on Prospect Ave in Redondo Beach. They are in a plaza shared with Dollar Tree, Papa John's, Redondough (bakery), Lovely Nails, and more. Plenty of free parking available. Although this is not where I would purchase my groceries, I have stopped by here after gym visits for occasional proteins or one or two items for family members. Recently picked up hard boiled eggs from the grab and go shelf by the deli. Also saw a deal for 2 Nathan's hot dogs for $5 plus food to go tax $5.49. These two hot dogs were a good size with more protein than bread ratio and hit the spot with fam. Other items on the hot pick up shelf were rotisserie chicken, fried chicken, and pot pie. This Vons is truly terrible. And with the Hermosa Vons turning into a more expensive (but not better in quality) this Vons on Beryl is way overcrowded. Sales items are almost always out of stock. The produce is mealy and gross, often with mold growing on it. It sickens me actually. Now I will be forced to driver further to Ralph's. Oh well. read more

I live in the area and come all the time. The one thing you're sure to find is a long line. I often come to buy a single beer and have to wait 20 minutes behind eight people. The people are nice, but collectively it seems they are clueless with how to get people out of the store. People are literally lining up to give you money and you can't do that in a timely manner. I go a Trader Joe's and they have eight lines open but this place can't even get a few people through the register without a cluster f**k. I guess if you want to wait in line for crap produce this is the place for you. read more

I scoped out the portable food options and there were so many to choose from: Custom-made sandwiches, snack packs with cheese, crackers and fruit or mini pancakes with maple syrup and blueberries, fried chicken, fresh fruit chunks, etc. Finally selected a hot-out-of-the-oven chicken pot pie that was delicious and loaded with white meat chicken with no bones, bristle or skin. As a connoisseur of Vons, this is my favorite one. Especially fond of the bacon pieces, they sometimes package and sell, I have not seen any other Von's do that. I think its a cultural thing, which is accepted, but needs to go. People brining their pets into the place I buy my food, its just wrong. Some people are allergic and/or not pet friendly. I can't stand coming to this Vons. We rarely come in but when we do fairly early in the AM, there is a female employee with short green hair that floats around the store with a horrible attitude, unapproachable look on her face and worse customer service skills inside and out in the parking lot. I was double charged at self check out. My card didn't go through so I used cash then went home (then subsequently to the hospital...unrelated to situation ) and found out it also charged my card. Went in after being extremely sick at the ER and explained the situation. One of the staff was not nice and confrontational, (compounded my frustration and physical pain) so called the store manager who amended the situation. People, be nice.... Life is challenging for some of us. read more

We wanted to get a special cake for our great-nephew's 4th birthday - His BD theme is "Cars!" Even though the decorator was not there, the other employee in the bakery, that helped us, was very good at taking the order and helped by asking several questions. We picked up the cake an hour after the scheduled time just to make sure it would be completed. (Past experience working with other stores.) It was ready and was done to perfection. The decorator was again not there so I could not thank them in person, but I will be ordering our cakes from Vons - Redondo Beach from now on. This place is very disappointing to me. I won't go into the same detail I did with corporate. I will confess this: 1) the deli advertises a new sandwich line 2) the store DOES NOT order enough deli bread so they stop selling sandwiches (that are awesome) up to two hours before close (in my experience across both REDONDO. BEACH locations). I putting the regional director, general manager and deli managers on blast for this. Why even have the brand new LED menus on if you can't sell sandwiches. 3). I got an employee to sympathize with me. He decided to open a prepackaged bread roll from the bakery section and make me a sandwich at 6pm...two hours before the deli closed. It was an amazing customer service experience. I was thinking Vons was a top tier grocer. 4) I was so happy with my previous sandwich I went the very next day to get another. Again the deli had no "deli bread." I was cool with a prepackaged bread and instructed the same employer from my last experience that the replacement would suffice. He told me he was told he could not help a customer in this manner again due ti being reprimanded. He that said to not tell anyone. 5) I asked corporate to have the GM (theta not the title they use) to contact me to explain. That said they would. Instead some assistant reached out. You can't even get a simple request right. I said in my letter I'd wait for the General Director and instead his assistant reached out. I'm done. read more

I would like to advise customers, that you should be careful when buying Value Corner Fat Free Milk from Vons on Beryl. Though the expiration date on the milk says March 25, it was turning on the 19th and definitely sour on the 20th. This also happened last week when I purchased milk there. I am a Smart and Final shopper, but because my mother is not feeling well and I have to shop for her, I didn't want to go to two places to buy groceries. I have never been happy with this store since their remodel, over 10 years ago. I will go back to Smart and Final for myself. This is a good VONS location, nice staff and a spacious well stocked supermarket grocery store. I've never had a problem here before. Parking is very very easy in the big lot, this is located near the Dollar Tree Store, and even has a CRV redemption recycling center nearby towards Papa John's Pizza in case you wanted to bring your bottles, cans and plastics before/after you shop at Vons. read more

The service desk attendant had to ask manger to set up phone to make a call out because my cell phone was in the purse along with cart key, house key garage door opener and i.d. I HATE leaving bad reviews but every once in a while I'm forced to. It all started when a couple months ago I bought an apple iTunes gift card from this location. I tried to add the funds and it said it was not a valid card. So I talked to apple and they said because it was a 3rd party purchase (vons) I needed to go through them. I said ok no problem I have all the proof that I didn't do anything to bring this about. I went to the front of the store and waited patiently. Some employee was on the phone then looked over at me rudely and asked what I needed. Should of been what May I help you with but I guess manners aren't taught anymore . Anyways getting off track. I said well I literally bought this gift card hours ago here and it's not working. She dismissed me and said they are final sale and got back to her phone call. I said wait a minute I spend money in here to get a gift card what about the money I just spent?! She rolled her eyes and said call corporate. So rude! So I walked away and proceeded to call corporate. The lady on the phone was soooooo much nicer and could sense my frustration. Let's fast forward to today. Same employee was "helping" the only checker open because it was long so I asked are you open ( while in that line waiting) she said I am helping her out I said okay and thought to myself well that doesn't answer my question but sure I'll continue to wait here as I watch the lady in front of me almost unload her entire cart . She proceeds to call next in line so I walked over to her . She looked at me with her beady eyes and said I SAID NEXT IN LINE! Ummm I wasn't raised in a barn! the lady in front of me clearly was already unloaded so I was NEXT in line. She didn't say two words to me the entire time. So twice I have gone here in the last couple of months. I'm a pet sitter and try to find the closest grocery store to where I am staying. First time I went in for a money order, someone will be right with you meant 20 minutes. I went back today, left with nothing. The one item I tried to scan didn't have a legible bar code on it. The person manning the self checkout tried to help. She then had an associate come and take the item back to the seafood counter for a new label. Ten minutes later nothing. She said let me go see where they are. I left...horrible customer service at this spot. read more

This is for the bakery department. We ordered a cake ahead of time, even got a call week of confirming everything we wanted on the cake for pick up day. Fast Forward to the day we were set to pick up the cake. We go in, and they said we had the wrong Vons. Once we showed them the confirmation number, they said " oh the decorator had called out sick". Ok then why wasn't there a phone call ? They didn't have an answer just said to try another Vons. I understand people call off, but communication is key, which in this situation was lacking. read more

4 stars for their awesome Bakery section. They have a great selection of bread, cakes, cookies, cupcakes and other pastries that are very good. They make really good cakes. They do classic cake flavors like red velvet, tiramisu (so good), chocolate cake and etc. My favs are the Tiramisu and Lemon Drop Cake. Icing is not too sweet and filling is not too sour and tangy. It's just right. GET IT! Don't forget to check out their big tray of cookies for $5. I always get it for work. My only complaint is sometimes I feel like they don't have enough staff working on the floor. Times when I need help looking for something, I can't find any staff around unless I bother the cashier who is always busy. read more
