I gave this VONS a one star because of its employees!! They are extremely rude , unhelpful, and so miserable I was wondering why they are even working ? The cashier a young kid who never acknowledged me or a hello I wondered if he was mute ? And the customer service agent at courtesy counter extremely rude to another customer I heard all his business she might as well have put his situation on the intercom!! And when I had an issue I was interrogated by her as if I am incompetent!! Went to this Vons after being disgusted with the Vons in Yucaipa and the lack of cleanliness and customer service. This store (Redlands location) was very clean and organized and had a cashier (wish I had gotten her name) that was personable and actually treated me as a valued customer. I'll be back. read more

I went to the butcher counter for some hamburger meat. The butcher (I believe goes name was Ralph) came over, and when I asked for hamburger meat, he told me it was prepackaged, in the refrigerated section, and I could just go there. I explained that I wanted the meat from the counter. He told me it was the same exact meat, and he just would not help me at all. I tried to explain, again, that I did not want prepackaged meat. He told me to have a good night, and drive safely. I know this sounds crazy. It truly is. I've never had a butcher refuse to pack meat. I have asked for meat before, and been told that if I want the prepackaged meat, it's cheaper. But that the choice was completely up to me. Today, the butcher was just rude and dismissive. He obviously did not want to have to do his job. I went to another grocery store, and the butcher had no issues with packing up hamburger meat for me. I will not be coming back here. read more

Von's management, its not cool to systematically target your black customers as potential shoplifters, and setting off that "doorbell sounding alarm"over our heads as we shop down the isle. Oh yes its true because I recorded it today on my phone to let my family and friends know what it sounds like when you you shopping in Redlands Vons and you're being watched digitally as a potential shoplifter. At first, I considered that it just may be me, but look at another comment made by another minority customer on 8/4/21. No it's not just me. And its just sad to be targeted just because of the color of mine skin. I would never steal. First, I love the Lord and try and live my life according to his word, 2nd, I make over $70,000 a year and don't need to steal anything, 3rd, if I saw someone stealing in a vunue, I would discouraged them and buy whatever they're trying to take for them!!!! They are just liars posting false advertisements that they don't really have on shelf ,, and when I asked the manager he said yea we ran out of it early in the morning on the first day the advertisement was out! I love shopping at this location. Even though the building looks old and kind of dark but they have nice, large selection and their display is very eye catching.. they have a pretty good sale and specially the bakery section. woohooo... love their cake, cupcakes... Ohh... pastries.. and also the Deli are pretty fresh and good. Staff are friendly and helpful. Floral department has the worst employees.....I swear they must hate their jobs! I've been there twice on my way to my mothers house to buy her some flowers. The first time I was treated really crappy by these ladies but I didn't really think anything of it. Now today they really went out of their way to make me feel unwelcome. These ladies look mad, they are rude and none of them make an effort to help you. In case anyone is wondering if it's COVID19 stress well it's not because the first time I was in there was way before any of that happened. Vons failed again. I was supposed to be refunded everything I was charged because they never actually fulfilled my order for pick up. They only gave me a partial credit for providing NONE of my order. Just failure after failure. I can see why they were the last grocery store in California to provide pick up. I guess its just too difficult for them to get right. So now I sit on the phone again trying to get them to give me back ALL of my money. Very disappointed at the inability to follow the business model for grocery pick up. Especially when so many others are getting it right. All Vons had to do was what all the others are doing. My family has ordered cakes from the bakery for years. Sadly we picked up our last cake today. I called on the 16th of December to order a cake for the 17th and was told I couldn't because there was not going to be a decorator in that day. I ordered it for today the 18th of December. I was asked how I wanted it decorated and I said with yellow and orange balloons. When they showed it to me at pick up it looked so ugly. No standard border just several large balloons around the edge of the cake with the writing slanted in the middle. The minions could have decorated the cake better than the so called decorator I wait a day for. If not for the fact that it was a pre ordered cake and my father was looking forward to his cake I would have refused it. Never again will we order a cake from Vons read more

Everyone here is really nice and friendly, except the sandwich department. I went there yesterday for my lunch and Natalie was the one who "helped me"..I can tell that she hates her job. No greeting, no smile and no customer service at all... the sandwich was made with so much bitterness and no love at all!.. it was the worst experience i have from this place.. not my regular neighborhood grocery store. Usually I go here if I have just gone to Trader Joes next door and they don't have something I need. Staff seems friendly enough, though there are a few checkers and baggers who could care less and seem more interested in their own conversations that in helping you. I first tried Vons' cupcakes at a baby shower. They were perfectly moist and we loved the whipped cream. They were seriously so good that no one believed they were actually from Vons. After that I started ordered all the cakes for work functions there. Every time we get a cake from there, no one believes it's a Vons cake. We always order vanilla cake with whipped cream and fresh strawberries for the filling. That cake never lets us down. If I wanted some fancy schmancy filing or some elaborate decoration on the cake I wouldn't come here. But for a good, basic cake that's better than other local places (Albertsons, Staters, Costco), I come to Vons. read more

I was a Vons shopper for over 20 years. We easily spent over $100,000. If you shop Vons you know it isn't for their low prices as they are over priced but they have a nice selecton and clean stores. Recently I had repeated problems with some young guy in the Dehli so I stopped using the Dehli and ten the tall store manager decided to spew some unsolicited hate toward our current President. Not why I go to the grocery store so I now shop anywhere but Vons. I let them know my issues but they didn't seem to care. I guess being a $100,000 customer wasn't worth a thing. read more

Very poor customer service and product knowledge. The supervisor Vivian and coworker Petra seemed to be in a bad mood, somewhat grouchy and curt. They were not able to resolve a matter regarding a gift card. Petra said she text the manager, and then showed me a text reply from the manager that simply said "No." Not sure what she text the manager to get that simple reply but she didn't show me her text to him/her. It's a Vons. Like Ciara C., I usually only pop in here when Trader Joe's (next door) doesn't have something I need. Almost without fail there are solicitors outside each door. I went in last week to look for three specialty items and was immediately accosted by a solicitor INSIDE the store; selling family photo packages, I believe. Really? There's a reason I don't watch the home shopping network. When I go to the market, I know what I need before I even get in the car. I don't want to fight off peddlers who are telling me I need something else once I get there. Otherwise, this is your average, upscale, full service grocer-- full bakery, full range produce (including organic), pharmacy, deli, etc. The clientele can be more pretentious than that of the Trader Joe's specialty grocer next door (welcome to Redlands). The non-club prices are equally as pretentious. The bakery items are delicious. They get an "A-OK" rating because this is one of the only places I can find things like chocolate tofu. Still, they ended up NOT carrying any of the of the three specialty items I fought my way through solicitors to find last week. Pity. read more

Minus a star for being overpriced. When did a regular grocery store turn into a luxury food store? Some of the stuff they sell is twice as much as it costs at Wal-Mart. Other things are actually a bit cheaper but that's the key I guess. I just don't like that their more expensive items are just so much more expensive. Minus a star for parking. This has got to be the busiest little shopping center I've ever seen. It's a real hassle at 5pm on a weekday. Minus a star for grumpy cashiers. I get why they're grumpy at Wal-Mart. I don't get why you're grumpy getting $15 an hour to scan groceries. Awful. We wont be back .. We will travel out of the way to the new stater bros with bigger brighter aisles. Produce section had only one rack of "organic" bags to put our produce in. What a pain to find bags for the bin of tiny limes they had on sale right as you walked in! Prices are wayyyyy to high! I think Whole Foods in Orange County has lower prices... Unbelievable! $5.99 for a pkg of 2 sheets of Puff Pastry???? Only 2 cashiers on and i bagged my own groceries. At these prices, they should be able to afford extra cashiers or stockboys to bag your stuff and bring you a coffee while you wait. Very disappointed. I think they have a policy of only 2 checkers working at a time. I pop in on the way home from work because they have a pretty good beer selection and when on sale good quality beers are $13 for a 12 pack. Problem is I consistently need to wait 10 minutes in line to check out one item. On top of all that there are always trashy solicitors outside and people buying 3 carts full of junk food with their EBT cards inside. read more

So those got smashed. Also please start checking your meat depart more regularly. Every time I come here and go through the Starbucks line inside the store, something time consuming takes place. They even allow anyone to check their groceries out even if you aren't ordering. There is something very wrong with that process. Buy coffee and coffee drinks in the Starbucks coffee line, but to have to stand in line while someone check out their grocery order is absurd. read more

We have been shopping here off and on for years. We prefer this store to other stores closer to us. The selection is better, and they have fresh sushi!Today, Ron and Destiny helped us checkout. Both employees were very friendly, attentive, and conversed with us. They appeared to really care about us as customers. In the past we have had very cold receptions at this location. I hope friendly service is the new trend at Vons. Great selection and friendly service will always bring in customers. Vons bakery did a wonderful job with my Mom's Birthday cake. She said to was as pretty as a wedding cake, and the price so affordable.

On Friday July 17th, went to the service desk at the Redlands Vons to pick up money wired to me. Found that at 730am it was too early to get help at the service desk. Came back at 830am and was asked by Manager Kegan how much the Western Union wire transfer was for. He said that Vons did not have enough money to pay out $250.00, to come back later. Returned 1pm on Saturday July 18th, and was again told by Manger Kegan that Vons did not have enough money. I explained to the courtesy clerk, that I had been in an auto accident, had drained my bank account, and was overdrawn by $300.00 in order to make temporary repairs to the car, to return home from Ridgecrest, and that part of the money was for medication that I needed. My Brother had gone to Vons in Ventura to wire the money to help me out. It had previously been suggested that I go to Rite Aide, two liquor stores, or check cashing places, which I had already done without success, due to vandalized WU phone equipment at Rite Aide, broken computers at liquor stores, unable to find check cashing places that offer Western Union. I had not come back until Saturday, account feeling so bad, did not have strength to return until then. Kegan did not care, and did not want to obtain necessary cash from any of the other registers. It was more "Sorry can't." More bogus suggestions on where else to go. He was annoyed that I had returned for the third time. I was informed that Vons in Yucaipa did Western Union. So I drove to Yucaipa and was treated badly there by another less than helpful, self-important manager. Although today, a helpful courtesy clerk checked and gave me my money, upon request, with no grumbling, no excuses, and a helpful, friendly attitude. I made certain to thank her and told my story. She was the only Vons employee who cared about good customer service, and apologized that previous co-workers had been uncooperative. When I stated that I had been shopping at the Redlands Vons, for over 30 years, even before it changed into a Vons, she thanked me, for shopping with them. Her name was Samantha. read more

Robert, you are one of the rudest people I've ever encountered. Robert, is the old man working In the service deli. His attitude and personality are hot garbage. I went to get a sandwich last Saturday, and when I asked him if there were onions in the avocado spread he was like, I don't know, let's not use it. I know you are geriatric but I'm sure you know how to read. Then when I asked him to put a little ranch on the other side of the bread, he said "so you want me to take off the meat and the lettuce just to put a little ranch on he bread"?? I said no nevermind it's fine because I didn't want to ruin my good mood. I was going to meet up with my husband, and kids; so going off on the guy would have made a scene and I didn't want to let the old fart ruin my day. Then I tried calling Vons, and I got disconnected 4 or 5 times in a row by their phone system in all departments. As expensive as Vons, is and as much money as they make, can't they afford a phone system that works?? If you go to Vons, in Redlands and you visit the service deli; make sure Robert, isn't working or else your experience will be as horrendous as mine. For those who have read my other reviews: I don't sugar coat anything or stay quiet when people are rude. But, when I speak bluntly and go off on someone who is rude on purpose, the anger and irritation doesn't completely disappear; it spills into the day and I didn't want the rude awful geriatric old man to pollute my day. Pertains to deli only:) Rest of store is great. But, if you have any deli needs, I'd suggest you go elsewhere. I'm at the point where if I see a certain somebody...I believe his name starts with an 'M' and ends with a 'T', I don't even approach the counter because I don't want to deal with the inevitable frustration that would accompany my shopping needs. Just now I settled for a semi-soggy/pre-made sandwich instead of having him make it for me.... I realize he's a 'slow' person and angry at the world because of something to do with a certain 'orientation' he has yet to come to terms with, but he works in customer service, for Heaven's sake. And the number one rule in customer service? Well, you know the drill. I've abstained from any formal managerial complaints because they are always short-staffed, but heed my advice, Avoid this guy in the deli if you can, it will taint your opinion of the entire store. read more

The only things I don't look like why is it I often get stalked by conversation from people inside store shopping trying to get me join there business as I'm shopping. Another there been times when walk away from shopping cart to go to restroom or something come back to nothing not finding shopping cart after it was full of stuff I was gonna buy. I want to be happy with the store because it is clean and in a nice location. I WAS happy with the store until I had to deal with one individual. The first problem was during the holidays when they for some unknown reason rearranged and moved the gluten-free pies I was looking for. I hunted for them and finally asked someone (someone who is in charge of ordering items and should know), and was told they didn't have them anymore. He didn't seem a bit concerned with helping me with the issue either. His attitude was rather flippant, like a silent "oh well." As I was walking around the store some more, I found the pies. Does Vons really want to lose a sale to an employee who just doesn't care enough and tells the customer that an item is gone when it's not? There were plenty of them. The next problem has been the eggs that I have and buying for literally MONTHS because they are pasteurized in the shell and safe to eat raw. I have a number of serious health conditions that require me to be diligent about the way that I eat, and raw eggs are one of the best ways for me to get protein and certain nutrients as I include them in my smoothies. I don't trust an egg that is not specifically handled for Rod to be safe. Suddenly they disappeared. Thinking that it was temporary I didn't say anything the first time, and then when I asked the cashier I was told who to talk to you - as it turns out the same person I had dealt with who didn't care about the gluten-free pies I was looking for. When I finally caught this individual face-to-face and asked about the eggs I got a song and dance that I am still fuming about. To begin with he told me that they weren't selling well enough, which is interesting because I wasn't the only one buying them. He gave me an explanation about how he has to order them by the case and if he only sells one or two out of it then it's not worth it. Then in a rather condescending offer he basically said but since you want them I will order them. He definitely made it clear that he was making an exception for just me, which left me wondering if it would be a one time deal. That would not help me much since I need them on a continuing basis. I wanted to make eggnog for New Year's Eve, and I was told they would be in that Saturday. I drove all the way from San Bernardino to get them, only to find they weren't there. I had to ask why, and weight, and finally one employee told me that he said he would order them a couple of days from then. Why did he tell me to come get them on Saturday if he wasn't planning to order them until a couple days after Saturday??? Is my time and gas money not important? Is my need for the product not important? When I called back SEVERAL days later, I was then told that they still had not been ordered and the excuse now was that he was having trouble getting a hold of the manufacturer. Finally I gave my phone number and said please call me when they are in so I don't have to keep bugging you. Several days later, I still have not heard anything. The message I get from this is "We don't care about having your business." read more

I can't say enough how much I loathe this store. Not just this store, but Vons in general. How people can afford to continue shopping here is beyond me. Any place that hassles you to get their "card" when you're trying to buy one or two items is a place I won't visit again. Needless to say my few experiences at this location have not been positive. In May I had to hop in to get a gift card to a friend who only has a Vons nearby to shop at. They have a massive wall o' gift cards that you can shop through & I noticed their Vons section was empty. (Go figure). I searched the store & the only employees I could find were the check out people, or people behind the bakery & deli. I finally stood in what I thought would be a short line to talk to the check out clerk when the two people in front of me pulled out their WIC cards. Wooonderful. As they purchased mass amounts of frozen pizzas, sodas, potato chips, chocolate milk and candy for their youngins on WIC I still waited for assistance. When I finally got to ask the clerk rudely said 'They're on that wall over there' then proceeded to scan the items that belonged to the person behind me. I explained they were out of stock & lovely employee woman loudly sighed, told the person behind me she was "Sorry but I have to help her" then walked over to the wall, where she got to see for herself they were, in fact, out. Then she made a show of going to every register to see if there were any on those stands (which I had told her I had done & there weren't). Finally, a manager came out, sold me a card & held it hostage as he tried to talk me into joining the Vons Club. I kept saying I don't shop there & wasn't going to join but he wouldn't just give me the card! Instead he rambled about the benefits of joining. I finally threatened to call corporate right then & there if he wouldn't release what was mine before he gave me the card. That was by far the worst experience here but after that visit I vowed never to return. If there's something I can't find at Trader Joe's I either figure out how to bypass it or will go to any other store than this one. read more
