The lines are always really long and there are no self checkouts here. I think when it was Pavilions, coming here was a better experience. Lastly the parking lot is filled basically every hour of every day, not really but you get the gist. So combining these two aspects: it's hard to find a parking spot and checking out takes longer than most other grocery stores of it's size, I have to give it 2 stars. read more

This is my go to grocery store since it's literally down the street for me. We have gone here for so long that we know the workers here. One of our favorite is joe! He is always so nice!! I also have to mention their sommelier or wine steward working there. His name is Luke and he is absolutely knowledgeable about the wines. Every wine that he has recommended has been great. To anyone who wants to try to wine definitely stop by and speak to Luke. He is amazing and will definitely tell you why the wines are great! I refuse to go back and if you are at all concerned about food poisoning you yourself will not buy meat from here. 1 - THREE TIMES we have bough different meats from this store only for it to be bad. This is the closest grocery store to me but I'm willing to take my business now to Ralph's in Arcadia which is only a little bit farther only because I'm so scared to shop at Pavillions. For what we buy, this store is waaaay cheaper than Albertson's, but maybe a tad more than Ralph's. We like to go here because it's convenient for where we live, but also it's close to a lot of restaurants and shopping, AND they're really friendly. A lot of the clerks know our names. They'll great me in the aisles and say "good morning Mrs. Apple". What?! Who does that! At first I wad disappointed that there wasn't self- checkout, but then I got used to letting someone else ring me up and bagging my groceries I got over it! This store is all about service! A lot of stores don't have dedicated baggers anymore- the poor cashier has to do both jobs. Vons has plenty of baggers who offer to help you out to your car! They're not the most talented at bagging (of course I used to be a bagger myself and have high standards), but they're really friendly. 2 quick tips: 1) if you don't have the Vons ap- get it! I save a lot of money clipping their digital coupons AND they can be combined with print coupons! 2) Sundays are busy. If you're looking for se items, they'll probably be put of stock by afternoon. Final thought- I just wished their gas rewards points worked at a better gas station. 1 Star for Darlene in the deli. I'm sad I have to explain this situation, but I feel it's necessary. I was waiting for my favorite lemon caper arugula salad, and my husband wanted fried chicken. He motioned for me to go ahead and order what I wanted first, but I knew I'd have to wait because there was already a gentleman helping someone in the pre-made salad area and there isn't really room for two people to be scooping from that case. I told him to go ahead and he got frustrated with me because he didn't notice what was going on so I walked away and grabbed something else I needed. Clearly Darlene didn't realize that we were together and she told my husband I was rude. He of course told me she said that after we walked away. There was no reason that she needed to have any say, and I guarantee you the gentleman that actually helped me found me quite polite. I was totally upset about it, and went back and told her (very kindly with tact) I didn't appreciate her calling me "rude" to my husband. She proceeded to tell me, "well you are rude." I was shook by the look she threw at me and attitude she gave. Pure trash. I literally had no personal interaction with the woman for her to deduce me being rude. Darlene is clearly burnt out and can't handle customer service. She is out of line when she doesn't even need to be. She wasn't involved and by her inserting her opinion to a customer she doesn't even know was the most unprofessional act I've seen in a long time. Now I remember why I don't come to this store anymore! Everyone is so rude. They stand. Around talking, no one says Helio or even today a Merry Christmas. We were buying an item that,rang up wrong price so they went to check the price and it may have been the manager when she checked she ripped the price it was showing and said it was marked wrong. I love that this location was fully stocked in everything I needed and more but sadly they did not have the particular flavor of ice cream that the husband was looking for. The place was pretty tame and not crowded so that was great too. Unfortunately being my first time at this Vons, I had such a hard time finding things. I quickly found myself going from one end of the store to the other with no luck and on top of that, there wasn't too many workers around that would have been able to help me find what I was looking for. After what seemed longer than an hour, we checked out and after paying, the husband glanced at the receipt to find out that the chicken wings he bought were charged the full price. On Sunday night my sister took my son, who has autism, in with her into the store. While there a man, who was clearly not in the right state of mind, made some loud, threatening comments. My son became very frightened as the man kept yelling and banging on the machines, and threatening to hurt people. A young woman, with long brown hair, came from behind the customer service counter, and did all she could to calm him down. This morning, he told me that she "saved his life". He said his heart was beating so fast and she made sure he was calm and safe. Thank you to that worker for ensuring his physical and emotional safety. You do not get enough thanks for all that you do as a front line worker, and I hope this note of gratitude finds its way to you. read more

Now that I've lived here for more than 6 months, I have to say THIS PLACE SUCKS! We have yet to buy everything on our list in one trip. Their ice cream and yogurt sections are very poorly kept. They always run out of anything that's on sale! Get your shit together, Pavilions! They CONSTANTLY have solicitors outside. My uncle and I have each complained to the GM about it and he just laughed it off. On the rare day that you can get inside without being hassled, the cashiers bug you to donate to some charity or another. They announce it over the intercom whenever they get a donation. I don't mind donating a measly dollar to prostate cancer research, but being asked every single time can really add up. They should be able to track it on your rewards card or something. It's so annoying! Also, avoid the bitchy gay dude in the deli. He's so rude! He ignores us and never listens to anything we ask for. Avoid the girl in the deli with long hair. This is the premium grocery store in town, and the prices are a bit higher for a reason. As a former employee, I'll talk about it. The price: The price here is higher, but you're paying for the service as well. If you want to save money, buy stuff from deals exclusively. They have $0.5 for big Gatorade bottles a couple of times a year, and great deals here and there. Best part is - if they're out of something, just ask for a rain check. Even if they run out of it during a deal you can get it at the same price the next time even if it's no longer for sale. The service: Top notch. Same cashiers for years, some even decades. They know their stuff and people love them. They have a few new ones here and there, as well as supervisors and courtesy clerks who occasionally check groceries. Want your groceries taken out by a courtesy clerk? They'll do it. Want your watermelon cut into slices? They'll do it. Want your pre-packaged meat cut? They'll do it. Want your that fish that you bought and decided to return after the expiration date because you "decided you didn't want to cook it?" They'll do it - even if it's morally wrong of you to ask that. Accidentally picked up a not-part-of-that-discount item? A cashier just might discount it anyways. They want to please you. Service over cheap prices is a theme here. The cleanliness: Bathrooms are checked every 30 minutes and cleaned every hour during the daytime. If you find a bathroom messy, it's because someone decided to trash it within the hour. And people do this so often and don't give it a second thought. The back: People think there must be some huge warehouse behind the store with 10x the amount of goods. Unfortunately, there definitely is not. Any items from the packaged goods aisles will have little-to-no backup supply, so asking "do you have any in the back?" really achieves nothing. It's honestly just pretty small selections of goods, maybe 25-30 boxes max per aisle. Feel free to ask on dairy, beverages, and fruits, though. Supplies of those are often available. The verdict: I have it 5 stars because I know the place. It's really customer service oriented and the managers will do anything to make sure you have a good experience here, sometimes at the cost of a profit margin. I go here because it's the closest supermarket, but perhaps I should rethink that. Having been a courtesy clerk as a teenager (Hughes Family Markets, bought out by Ralph's), I was trained well on customer service e.g. call every woman "Miss", offer to carry bags to the car, greet all customers and never socialize while at the checkout stand. This morning, my checker Mina was very courteous to the 20-something white male hipster who was signing up for a loyalty card. However, when it came to my turn, there was no greeting, no eye contact, nada. I made the effort to chirp, "Good morning", which was ignored. We stumbled through my transaction and as I was leaving, the customer behind me was greeted with "Hola, como estas!!!". Um. I usually do my grocery shopping at the Ralph's up the road, but I found myself on the other end of Foothill yesterday and decided to get the makings for my top-shelf sloppy joes at this store instead. The thing I'd forgotten about Von's (and Pavillions) is how fast they get you through the check stand. They always seem to have plenty of checkers--unlike Ralph's. At this location, both express lanes were open, as well as three other lines. They had all the ingedients I needed--including the ground buffalo--and I was in and out in a flash. I think that makes it worth the extra five minute drive. read more

This grocery store is pretty disappointing. First, I'll point out the positive which is that the store is pretty well stocked. That's kind of where it ends. Compared to other grocery stores, the items do seem a bit pricier. If you have coupons and are part of their rewards program it might be ok. The most frustrating thing about this place is that they do not have self check-out options. Fine, if you don't have self check-out, please make sure there are enough cashiers to accommodate all your customers. Every time I go here, I end up having to wait for a while, even when I check-out at the Express Lane. What finally did it for me is that my husband and I bought some Cliff bars there. It wasn't until my husband went to open one the next day that we saw that they expired 4 months ago! Why is Pavilions stocking expired food and selling it to their customers? At least Ralphs discounts foods that are start to expire instead of leaving it in the regular foods section. Makes me wonder what other expired foods are in the regular food section. The best feature of this Vons is the convenience. But have you ever stopped to think of all the money we're throwing away by shopping there? Even with their discounts, I get a lot more for my money at other grocery stores. I love the fact that I don't have to wait in line too long. Even though the older checkers look worn out and beat up with carpal tunnel and tendonitis braces, they manage to pull together a smile. The deli sandwiches are actually quite good as is the sushi. Its also good to find a nice selection of organic fruits and vegetables. I have nothing against homeless people and I help out when I can. There must be a homeless shelter near the store because its not uncommon to see an interesting group of people hanging out at the tables or in the parking lot. The other day I drove behind the building and I promise there was someone sleeping in the trash bin area. I heard there was actually a group of them living on the roof until Monrovia PD busted them. Lately it seems like the whole shopping center is turning into a ghost town. Cost Cutters, the optometrist, the dentist, the UPS Store, the chiropractor, Card Heaven...all gone! With Yogurtland moving in, Cherry on Top and Baskin Robbins are in trouble. Anyway, if you're in a hurry this Von's works out. But if you seriously want to save your hard earned money, compare with Trader Joe's and Stater Bros. read more

If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. This is an upscale Vons as the Pavilions I have frequented in other areas have more exotic items. Sure there's a Bank, Deli, Starbucks, Bakery, etc. but it's missing that extra "pizazz" that the other Pavilions have. On that note, why is there a Starbucks when about 100 yards away, there's another Starbucks in the same shopping center? These things, like Jimmy Hoffa, are a mystery to me. Anyway, off on a tangent... So...I like my Sauvignon Blanc wines. Crisp, refreshing, not oakey, drier. Why do they have like 10 cold bottles of Chardonnay in the refrigerated section and not 1 Sav Blanc? It would be nice if they had a wine chiller being a Pavilions and all... On to produce. I do not like buying my produce here. Many times, there are rotten pieces of fruit and the lettuce is usually limp (all kinds). There also aren't as many exotics (different mushrooms, nice organic fruit, etc.). All in all, we go back here time and time again for all the basics. Wow, people actually drop 5 stars for this place?! It's always been OK at best. Then they did their remodel what seemed to last for months where they closed at 9 or 10 PM each night.. which might not matter to most people but seriously interfered with my attempts to shop there. But I looked past that, I understand it had more to do with my bizarre schedule than them. Recently, the service has been terrible at times. I'm talking lines running sideways into the produce section and all the way down past the starbucks.... are you kidding me?? And then when you finally get to the one or two checkers working, it comes as no surprise they're irritated, impersonal, and rude!! If this happened once, I wouldn't be too concerned, but I've seen this happen multiple times, and each time they call for help over and over again and NOBODY comes out... what gives?? I have a far walk from my car to my front door. I don't mind being charged for extra bags Checker- ok Still over fills bags Me- please put my milk in bags. I really have to walk far and it's easier if everything is in a bag. Checker- ok Leaves other things like beer and potatoes out of bag but puts 2 gallons of milk in 1 bag. Like others, I love the selection and convenience of this market to me but I've learned that the staff there, from the top down, are inadequately sensitive to the needs of those disabled in a way that makes carrying groceries challenging. I'm a disabled vet, age 65, but my foot/ankle disability didn't impede my walking about until I had surgery on the same foot about a month ago. Since then, I have been at Pavilions at least five times - first with crutches, then with a cane - and not once was I asked if I wanted help out with the groceries. One weird side fact - I've sometimes, in the past, been offered help out with groceries, when I was NOT obviously disabled. After the first few times, I told the manager about it, and he said he'd ensure there was refresher training for his staff. I guess that didn't happen, because since then I've been to the store twice, including today, with no offers of help. I'm not as concerned for me - my foot will heal and then hopefully I won't need assistance for another 20 years - but there are many others with similar or worse conditions who come into the store all the time. Checkers need to be more alert to the needs of the disabled. read more

I will start with the deli. What an absolute joke!! Rude people, not enough staffing. No matter what it seems like I always have to wait at least 15 to 20 minutes. Typically when they run out of something it takes weeks and weeks for them to get it back into stock. In this upscale community you think they would have a nicer store, and somebody that pays attention to when they run out of items..Primarily in the frozen section. This store is like a clone of the one in Glendora, and the Glendora store is not a Pavilions. I am writing the while the "sequence of events" is still fresh in my mind. I went to the store today to get some beef. The compartment was empty and one of the butchers was "slicing some up" (not the first time that I have heard this). Completed getting my other items and still no beef. While I am waiting, the two "meat heads" are having a conversation about drug-testing (subtlety is not their strong suit) while they see me wait. After 30 minutes, I gave up and went to the check-out. After the merger with Albertsons is completed, it is my hope that these guys are shown the door since they don't care about customer service. read more

This review is for the deli. (Obviously the management as well). The deli food is disappointing to say the least. I have buyers regret 9/10 of the time. Is the deli understaffed? Do you not care? The food is dry and gross. My biggest complaint is the fried chicken. Tonight we got our chicken home. THREE very hungry teenagers picking through 16 pieces of chicken, picking it apart searching for an edible bite. It was burned, dry and flavorless. It was literally chicken jerky. Please, there is a shelf life under the warming lights. You ARE far exceeding that life. This is by far the worst Vons/Pavilion deli I have come across. You are however consistent. I come here At Least once a month and really once I slip and fell and the employee didn't even stop to see if I was okay. My coworker agreed with me. I was more embarrass but really... Overall customer service here is not up to par not just because I fell. I am not a sue happy person , don't think if you ignore it that means you didn't see it. I fell right in front of you with the wet floors which I had to tell someone to clean up. The bakery person is nice and helpful. They don't have enough Nordstrom cards at 25.00. Oh I once applied for a card and that was a long process to wait for the person to help you get the form. I turned it in and nothing for months I had to return and ask about it because I called the main office for them to tell me they haven't received it. This review is for the pharmacy only. 5 years ago THIS pharmacy was THE BEST pharmacy around. Move forward to 2019: they now keep no stock of commonly used prescriptions on hand (ie. High blood pressure, diabetic, diuretic). Every month, without fail, my spouse or myself get text messages indicating one of our prescriptions is ready, only to find out they only have "a few" (5 or so) of them in stock. It's weird that they have notifications to let us know that are prescription to get automatically refilled are due, but they don't have notifications to remind them to order them ahead of time. I have moved all of my prescriptions to Walgreens, and my husband's in the process of moving his. Walgreens doesn't have the best history either, but at this point it's far better than Vons. At least they make it so you can get all of your prescriptions at one time, instead of having to going back sporadically several times throughout the month. read more

I think this store is very nice. I love their new Just For You on-line savings plan. It does take a little pre-work on my computer before going to the store but is worth it. I have saved 35-45% on grocery bills. In addition we are a gluten free health conscious family so I'm not about to be buying items like pop-tarts because they are $.10 a box. That is one thing I have hated in the past with discounts and coupon promotions. Their Just For You on-line program is intuitive and manages my purchase history and provides discounts for things I have bought in the past. I really like this particular location...after they remodeled it, the set up closest to the door became one of it's finer, more attractive points. The meat section still has the 'old' set up...but I don't frequent it, so I don't care. There are SO many easy to navigate through areas to pick up convenient ready-to-eat items...from the soup to the sandwich 'bar' to the muffins/donuts to the florist. Pavilions gets three stars because they are much better done some grocery stores in some aspects and much worse in others so they end up being average. But the main area they are really lacking is price. Pavillions seems much more expensive than other grocery stores while not offering the unique offerings that Trader Joes and Sprouts offers. The things that are a bit better than your typical grocery stores like Ralphs and Albertsons offer are the produce, deli, wines/spirits and other exotic/unique items. Some isles have lots of variety while others are lacking. Cereal, sodas lots of variety, but bread is really lacking though they do have fresh baked bread they make throughout the day that is really good. They do have a pharmacy and a Starbucks inside the store so you can get your meds, coffee and groceries at the same place. So overall if you don't mind spending a bit extra and want higher quality name brand or exotic items then Pavillions may be your spot, but if you hate paying more or need to save on your typical items than it's not. read more

The store has a great selection however the store itself has very poor service. The restroom is always beyond disgusting. It is as bad a truck stop or gas station. It is always out of supplies and very dirty. For mothers who shop with little girls this is very frustrating. Also, there is rarely anyone working in produce to assist and the bagging clerks have no idea how to bag your groceries. They put cereal boxes in my insulated bag and all my frozen in regular bags. The workers are all very careless including the management. When I gave asked for assistance to the restroom as they were not usable because of the filth and no tissue ( I was pregnant and had my young daughter with me) they took over 10 minutes to send someone and seemed inconvenienced for asking. Pavilions stores should not be so classless. They are not a discount store and should have a much higher standard of service. read more

I've felt for some time that this store has pretty much given up on the COVID safety rules. There's no apparent effort to know how many people are going into or out of the store (as there once was); sanitizer by the carts is hit-or-miss, inside door there may be paper towels but usually no sanitizer; people are wandering all over; no effort to help people navigate the checkout lines; people enter and exit through the same doors again. Mask wearing is spotty. Won't bag groceries in reusable, clean bags from home, for no clear reason, but baggers will dump everything back in the cart after checkout -- this feels more like a way to avoid even minimal customer service rather than anything safety-related. read more

Other than these two areas of strength, I can't say anything star-worthy about this store as it is severely lacking in other areas... The bakery. A couple of their staff are just plain rude and/or uninterested in keeping their jobs (because I know I'd fire them if I was the manager) The produce section...the produce manager and staff have problems with their eyesight. They walk right by the ROTTING FRUIT ON THE SHELVES! Not once, not occasionally, but REGULARLY! I've been a regular customer...visit that store 3-4x/week (but no longer!)...and I see rotting fruit and/or veggies every...single...time...ugggghhhh! When I told two produce employees on two separate occasions, they said; "Yeah, the manager who orders the fruit does a bad job." and... "I'll let the manager know" And that was 2 months ago.
