They have 3 blind older women there that need a vision plan. I've been shopping there for five years to make food for my Pham and bartend on the side. I gave my ID to the cashier with the Karen haircut and she told me that I don't look like the person in the photo. My license picture and she said doesn't look like me is a little outdated. It's amazing that at 29 this is the first time my ID has ever been rejected. I'm actually surprised that they didn't just take the idea if they thought it was fake.She hands it to two other women, with one of them being the store manager, looked me straight in my face and still says that's not you. Usually when I shop at Vons I'm impressed because the store is clean and organized. What I experienced by making the mistake of stepping into the restrooms transported me back to a truck stop bathroom off of Interstate 5 in the middle of nowhere. It was absolutely DISGUSTING. It is very obvious this didn't happen overnight. They should be ASHAMED of themselves. I stepped in there and locked the door and immediately regretted it. I don't care if I had to go or not I wasn't about to do that in this scene from Saw 6. So I snapped the attached pictures and wanted to wash my hands, yeah I couldn't do that either. So I managed to use a toilet seat cover to unlock the door and then proceeded to empty an entire bottle of hand sanitizer to undo what I can't unsee what in the actual F Vons. read more

I dropped by cons after work and had to use the restroom after a long drive. I proceeded to spray disinfectant in the towels which they provide on a cart outside the restroom. I understand due to covid it is the customer responsibility to clean and wipe before and after use, however after opening the door I was shocked at what I saw. This Pavilions has the distinction of being absolutely filled with nothing, wall to wall and treetop tall. Mind you, there are plenty of items in the aisles. However, it seems like they never have the things that I need or want. Take the meat case for example. I realize that beef prices have gone through the roof over the last year, but seriously, how hard would it be to throw a pot roast in a meat boat and slap a price tag on it? Maybe I don't want to buy frozen tripe or veal cutlets.... Just a few steaks would be nice. Or how about a reasonably sized package of chicken breasts or pork chops? I don't need a container of chicken livers, unless I'm going catfishing. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there just seems to be a tragic flaw in every department. Kudos for putting an organic island in the middle of your produce section, but it looks like go backs that sat at the front end for a while. I realize, for example, that organic strawberries will never be as large as non-organic. However, these ones look like they've been heated up to make preserves half the time. Every time I've purchased milk or dairy products at the store, they're dead in three days, regardless of the expiration date printed on the back again. This, like the produce problems, are suggestive of night crew stocking issues. This is just a guess, but from my moonlighting days working as a night crew dairy case guy wearing subzero jackets, and freezing my Schnads off, if you leave the milk out on the pallet for too long, it dies before its time. In a pinch, the story gets the job if you need a can of soup, or a packet of Sargento cheese for your kids' lunches. But honestly, for your weekly shopping trip, there are better options within a mile or two in just about any direction except north. read more

I never used to shop that much at Pavillions when i lived here. But once in a while id stop in for a few things and it was just like Vons. They have everything i need and wanted. Parking area was big with a whole big shopping center. Customer service needs to improve here. Some people just dont want to do their jobs, But all in all, I have never had any problems here. read more

It isn't perfect, but the store is clean and they have good quantities of everything and it is high quality. They also almost never seem to have too big of a line at checkout so that is very helpful. The prices are higher than what you get at some other grocery stores but they do a good job with their specials and if you use the app, you can download coupons on items that are specifically designed for you based on past purchases. Especially on the weekends, there is almost always someone selling something outside or trying to get people to sign some petition, but at the same time speaks to the fact that the store is well respected in the community and a lot of people shop there. read more

Not my first choice because of the prices . Monrovia is screwed when it comes to grocery stores. But this place will do in a pinch. My low rating is for the pharmacy. They are very slow! Unfortunately my meds got switched here after rite aid closed and I dread coming to get my pills each time. Thanks to some of those pills I haven't gone off yet. It's ridiculous at times I tell you. The amount of staff they have is enough to definitely not have to long wait and lines each time. One time the girl said 10 mins to get my cream together . I left for 15 to read magazine and finish shopping . Got back and of course it's not done WTF it's a cream,label it and hand it to me not rocket science here ugh. I'm switching soon to CVS down the street Ok so they still too high even tho they switched to Vons from "pavillions" but the other day I got the best bowl of strawberries ever in the cut fruit fridge in produce . They were so sweet and I had my doubts cuz strawberries in general are hit and miss no matter where u get them . I also like their store brand of sodas 12 packs were 4/1.99 or 2.50 each is a good deal we got diet orange,diet lemon lime,diet caffeine free cola and another diet orange saved a bunch $ there. And they have their own version of la croix as well. I mean I find a deal or 2 in here when I come but to me it's a rich people store not quite Whole Foods but not winco either lol. Mostly I like that it's cool in the store they have tables near the Starbucks and free WiFi yass . The service really shines here. I needed a 40lb of water softener pellets and I also bought one of their healthy beautiful plants . I knew I could count on help you my car with these heavy items. Other local stores have really cut back on staffing - not Vons. I know I won't wait in line long and I am able to find staff to answer questions. They also pick up the phone if you call. All this may cost a bit more than other discounters in the area- and it's worth it. Their expanded organic produce section is also a plus. read more

I was so frustrated. I bought a 5" chocolate cake , and a small square chocolate cake. I wanted Happy Birthday on the square cake and Dad on the small one. Told the girl I wanted to see the writing before it was boxed. She brought them both sealed. I looked in side the box and you can only make out the B in the word birthday. I asked her if he can re write it. She took it back with an attitude. The decorator came out and wrote it on a clear strip which was better. He said " sorry it's just late" it was 4:30. When I chose the cakes they were both on the shelf that stated they were chocolate cake, not white. I asked just to make sure and she said yes. Well guess what, it was frikin white cake! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. VERY rude cashier lady. She was very aggressive and negative to me and my husband IN FRONT OF my newborn baby. I later called customer service to report her negativity and she was DEFENDED by the manager who would not listen to what I had to say. She said she would "talk to her" but she obviously didn't care. Great pharmacy staff. The staff knows my name and they are super friendly. I've never had issues getting my medication and they are always so helpful with calling my doctor if I run out of refills. The actual grocery story is another issue. The prices are way too high for the area. There is seriously another grocery store just 5 blocks away and they sell the same items for half the price. I would definitely recommend coming here to get your meds filled, but you should never do any shopping here unless you hate saving money. read more

I have had to post some rough reviews of this location, but I have to come back and give credit to a business that improves. The produce department had some pretty poor looking products, but since I expressed my concerns to the manager there has been a significant change. During my recent visit it looked like a completely different produce department (in a good way), the selection was good and everything was neat, clean and fresh looking. I've also noticed improvements with the butcher section, normally I felt like I was more of an annoyance to the butchers but in recent visits they actually offered to go beyond what I had asked for and went and custom cut my meat request. The main issue with this location is the staff. Generally, the attitude is lazy, and sometimes rude. The only reason why I'm not rating one star is because I understand it's difficult to work in a grocery store these days, especially in light of the pandemic. With that said, If you're looking for a far more positive environment, go to Trader Joe's. I miss the days when this location was a Pavillions. Back then, everyone seem to care more. There are never enough cashiers during the afternoon hours when people get off work. I've lived here for 3 years now and it's like this during the day and late at night. I shop here and the Ralphs 2 miles away and I never seem to have this issue with Ralphs. I have even filled out the Vons online survey to express my frustrations and offer the suggestion of self check out like Ralphs. Overall, this location is pretty clean and much more organized compared to their Pavilions location in Arcadia. I read in another review not to buy their pre-made cakes here. I wish I read that a week ago because the cakes here are really really dry. I also saw a "Yelp Loves Us" sticker on their entrance door.. Do yelpers really love this place??? I normally wouldn't order a cake from Pavilions, but they were the only place that offered a half sheet of carrot cake locally. Their prices are more than double of what you'd pay at Sam's Club, but then again they don't offer carrot cake there. Being the crafty person I am to save money for my company, I was going to get a vase and balloons from the Dollar Tree, but unfortunately that day their power was out.... The balloon station by the flowers surprised me, they had a large decent selection. I even found a regular vase for a few bucks too. Can't really praise the flower selection because everything was overpriced. Overall I'm just glad that I was able to get all that I needed in one location dispute the final prices. A nice pavilions on the medium size of most pavilions but always updated, well stocked and clean. Friendly neighborhood service and plenty of parking. Small bakery section but good size delis. The older Asian cake lady is really nice and I have ordered a couple bday cakes here that were nice and good price. Nice produce section as well. I frequent this Pavilions often enough since it's the closest to my home. There is one redbox kiosk machine by the entrance that is closest to the produce section and is usually pretty busy on weekend nights. Anyways, Pavilions always has special $5 specials on Friday nights. And since the Monrovia Street Fair is on Fridays, I will stop by this Pavilions to stock up on my essentials and usuals (fruits, vegetables, etc). Sometimes there are long lines at the register here and sometimes not, so really it's a hit or miss. Service from employees at the cash register have always been quite friendly, really have never had a bad encounter. There is a Starbucks inside this store which isn't normally crowded. But there is also a Starbucks in the same plaza as this store (along with Cheeries on Top, Wendy's, Hon Sushi and Blaze Pizza). There is also free WiFi in this store but often times it's a bit slow. And lastly, there is also a pharmacy at the back of the store, between the meat section and produce section. read more

This two star is for the two employees. I'm sorry, I used to love it here. Been shopping here for more than 10 years straight, customer service used to be superb. Now a lot of the old employees started leaving one by one, and service started going downhill. It has now officially all rolled down. It started in the beginning of the year when this female heavier set employee at night refused to go price check when I said it overcharged, she said she already everything is already calculated I have to pay first. After I paid she said either go back in line or ask manager, I was so shocked because I'm not even out of line yet. And she said I HAD TO PAY FIRST. When I went to the manager, he was kind, and old employee. He asked what happened, I started explaining and she loudly said in front of everything "she's wrong what she paid for is the price." She was literally trying to embarrass me. Well after he priced check she says "well was I right?" I replied for him and said "no actually, you weren't". And no she did not apologize or anything. The manager Natalie is rude to customers and staff. Butcher won't cut meat with a bone. Doesn't make sense.

I will start with the positive. Some of the employees working the check out lanes are great nice and friendly people. That being said some of the overall service in this place is lousy especially at the customer service desk. Often my wife or I are left waiting for extended periods of time. The other day I asked an employee where the person behind the desk was and the reply I got was, "I don't know over there," and then she vaguely gestured behind her without looking. I've worked the service industry plenty. Including grocery stores. It doesn't take much effort be a little bit more helpful. Unless I absolutely have to I don't go to Von's. There are plenty of stores in Monrovia that are far more helpful read more

This store never disappoints. The customer service is always bad. Bad attitudes at the check stand. Tricks on pricing they want to argue about instead of making customer happy. My neighborhood market! Well stocked, clean, and nice staff. Produce is always super fresh and they have a nice variety of organic produce. Deli sometimes needs more staff available. The lines are always really long and there are no self checkouts here. I think when it was Pavilions, coming here was a better experience. Lastly the parking lot is filled basically every hour of every day, not really but you get the gist. So combining these two aspects: it's hard to find a parking spot and checking out takes longer than most other grocery stores of it's size, I have to give it 2 stars. read more

This is my go to grocery store since it's literally down the street for me. We have gone here for so long that we know the workers here. One of our favorite is joe! He is always so nice!! I also have to mention their sommelier or wine steward working there. His name is Luke and he is absolutely knowledgeable about the wines. Every wine that he has recommended has been great. To anyone who wants to try to wine definitely stop by and speak to Luke. He is amazing and will definitely tell you why the wines are great! I refuse to go back and if you are at all concerned about food poisoning you yourself will not buy meat from here. 1 - THREE TIMES we have bough different meats from this store only for it to be bad.
