Crispy Padak Chicken (Lunch)
Michele T.

Lunch specials! I chose the Crispy Padak Chicken with fries and coleslaw for $15.99. Took a while for our orders to arrive, but the order came with 3 BIG drumsticks which were served crispy and piping hot. Good flavor to the drumsticks and the order itself was quite filling.

Similar to the location in Sunnyvale that is very popular. I usually get a FULL order of oven-baked boneless chicken with the Vons sauce on the side. The spicy Von's sauce is really good if you like spicy food. The honey Parmesan fried chicken drumsticks are also really good, they are like a treat of savory and sweet together. I would order from DoorDash again.

Order for pick up of 88$ with a side if sweet potato fries for mom and they were selling us a burn sweet potato fries with no shame

B. Crispy Fried Chicken (Half)

This time we tried the crispy chicken with soy garlic flavor. We got the half order and that was easily enough for two. We chose the mixture of wings and drumsticks. The chicken is very nicely breaded and really crunchy and I liked the soy garlic seasoning. I preferred the wings as they are a bit crispier. We got a nice table outside and some sodas to enjoy our chicken. Was a nice satisfying lunch and would come back again for some more fried chicken. Overall I liked the fried chicken better than the oven chicken.

I m truly disappointed with my fellow yelpers. How can anyone rate them 3 or more stars? Aside from the service, there was nothing good at this place. 1. Their kimchi fried rice was a joke. No kimchi whatsoever, basically, white rice mixed with kimchi juice. 2. The rice cake was way too spicy and was deep fried... what??!! It was really dry and some were even hollow from overcooking (picture tells a 1000 words) 3. The garlic chicken sauce had no garlic flavors and was overly sweet. Chicken was dry. 4. The honey butter chicken was basically sprinkled with powder butter and sugar...yuck! Not to mention the chicken was also dry

The cheese buldak here is sooooo good. The chicken is kinda spicy, but the layer of melted cheese helps to cut down the spice. It's perfect for a cold night. The garlic chicken here is also crispy and tasty.

Extra Spicy Sauce (a must-try if you love spicy food like I do!) and radish (a perfect accompaniment to the chicken!)

Never disappoints! I absolutely love this Korean fried chicken spot, Vons Chicken is my favorite chain! The downtown Redwood City location is amazing; I'm not sure why, but they always cook the chicken to perfection, with the crispiest coating, and the sauce is absolutely amazing!

I was looking for a korean chicken place in Redwood City and stumbled upon Vons Chicken in downtown. My friend and I wanted to try it out since it was close by. It is a small restaurant and they have outdoor seating. It seems like most of their orders are takeout. Cheese Buldak (5/5): This was pretty good. The chicken was nice and tender. It was spicy but not too spicy. I loved the rice cakes in the dish. It came with a side of pickled radish and a slaw. The portion was good for the price as well. It did take a while to come out of the kitchen but understandable because it probably needs to be broiled to melt the cheese on top. This is definitely going to become a go to spot for chicken! The service was good as well. They have an online ordering system if you want to do pick up.

Soy glazed Crispy Fried Chicken and onion rings.

I came here once back in 2022 and wondered why I'd been missing out on such a phenomenal joint all this time. Their chicken is made to be perfectly crispy, chicken is juicy, and the seasoning hits all the right notes for me. When we came back with our kids in 2024, they weren't terribly impressed by my selection BUuUT they were gaga for the Soy (garlic) fried chicken. As in we had to order another batch of that. So it really was a win for all of us. Great customer service every time as well! (FYI the picture is of our Husky puppers enjoying their time in the outdoor seating!)

Crispy Yangnyeom Chicken Half

I stopped by to try their lunch deal which was 15.99. I got the crispy yang-nyeom sauce with two drums, two wings, and fries. The sauce was sweet and you can adjust the spice level which I ordered the medium. I think the next time I come here I would order a more savory sauce just due to taste preferences. I also should've got the sauce on the side since it wasn't as crispy due to it. The fries were crispy and not too salty. I did a pick-up order but the worker I interacted with was nice. There is not a lot of seating indoors but more outdoors.

Redwood City downtown is kinda small and half of the stores have closed down but they do try to have a variety of different cuisines. I appreciate all the shaded outdoor seating with some streets being closed off from traffic. Parking is $1 per hour. It's nice to see Von's here and the lunch plate is not a bad deal for $15.60. The spicy wings have a good amount of heat. I prefer the flats vs drumette. Flats are juicier and drumsttes were more dry like breasts. Also ordered the Crispy YANG-NYUM Chicken for $20 you get half a chicken and I decided to go with combo which is 5 drumsticks with 3 wings. Their spicy level could use another level to kick it up a notch for spice lovers like me. All in all, the amount of food was good. Von's chicken always has a nice crunchy coating and their chicken is perfectly marinated. Service was attentive. Wait was minimal. Place was casual. This is definitely one of the better options in Redwood city

Sooo crispy and soo good! Came here with a party of 5 on a Friday night. We wanted some good fried chicken and this place didn't disappoint. Dining area was a bit small and ordering can get overwhelming if there are a bunch of people in line waiting for their to-go orders. But we ordered a good amount of chicken and fries to snack on. Highly recommend the boneless ssam chicken as it comes with tons of veggies and pickled radish so you don't feel too guilty eating fried food at the end of the night! We also had tteokbokki (rice cakes) which I thought were okay. I try to be mindful of my waste and didn't like that there were tons of disposable containers used to store our ketchup, coleslaw, and pickled radish. But the food was still amazing for a solid 4 stars! Our total came out to $160 for a group of 5. Great deal for the feast we had.

First timer trying this Korean Fried Chicken spot in the heart of RWC. I've seen it else where but not locally so when I saw it, I said we have to try it. We ordered at the cashier and we were seated outside on the patio on a nice day, along with my dog. We ordered the crispy fried honey butter and real garlic chicken and cheddar cheese balls. I was shocked how no one told me how good this fried chicken was. I love me some fried chicken. Now that I've been here I will be back!

We shared the 20-pack family meal, which came with 20 wings, 3 flavors, 1 large fries, and 2 dips. We added some mozzarella sticks and fountain drinks. Ordered on the kiosk and the food was ready in about 15 minutes. For the wing flavors, we got the salt and pepper bone-in, regular buffalo boneless and mango habanero boneless. My favorite of them all was easily the salt and pepper. The jalapeno and onion garnish just takes it over the top for me. 10/10 would order every time. The fries and mozzarella sticks were just alright though. While the wings came out hot, the mozz sticks and fries were room temperature, with the fries being a bit floppy. Overall, still a really solid spot to grab wings. Definitely a place I wouldn't hesitate coming back to when I'm craving wings.

So, I can't speak about the dining in experience but I do need my location to be clean and organized. Which this location was. I have read how some customers were not happy and found this location to not be up to standards. But I saw it to be clean, organized and the staff to be working hard and facilitating customers orders in a very timely manner. The counter, floors and staff were very nice and professional. Finally, my four piece meal was satisfying to say the least. I was given a leg a breast a wing and a thigh. As my side, I got red beans and rice and two biscuits. Way more food than I needed, but it was totally worth the value. The crunch in every bite of the chicken skin was so satisfying. It was super crunchy and moist. Not dry, or feeling as though it was under a heat lamp for a long period of time. The spice level is perfect and the biscuits paired well with the jam that is offered as a condiment. Overall, it is great meal! The size/ portions of the side dishes have really downsized from what i remember. But the main meal make up for it. Overall, the meal really good and filling. Only downside was the size of the side dishes. But still a positive experience.

I parked in the parking garage near the movie theaters (horray for free 1.5 hours parking!). I arrived on a Friday morning, right around opening and we were seated immediately. We were given an iPad to order and after noticing there were none of our (somewhat niche) favorite dishes, we ordered the Combo for 4 people. The combo came with hot and sour soup and baked BBQ pork buns, along with our choice of additional dishes from a set list. We chose the six-piece soup dumplings, tofu eggplant, Chinese broccoli with beef, beef chow fun, and the Portuguese egg tart. I thought that the hot and sour soup was hot and barely sour, but it was loaded with meat, tofu, and wood ear mushrooms. The BBQ pork buns tasted great and were interesting; it was a mix between a pineapple bun and a BBQ pork bun. The Soup Dumplings were good, but annoying to eat. Because they were steamed in their own foil wrappings, we were not given soup spoons. It was hard to peel them out of their wrappers while still preserving all the juice. The dumplings were very tasty and the wrappers were just the right amount of structural integrity. The tofu eggplant dish was much too sweet for our taste buds, but it wasn't terrible. The Chinese broccoli with beef dish was very good. The beef was velveted very nicely and was very tender. My only complaint would be that the Chinese broccoli was barely cut, so be sure to chew if you get this dish. The beef chow fun was a bit of a let down; it was kind of bland, but it did feature the same large chunks of beef that the Chinese broccoli beef featured. Finally, the Portuguese Egg Tarts were silky and very flaky (though they did have a strange fruit surprise in them). Overall, I would return for their lunch combo. It was great value (in this economy) and the dishes tasted good. The staff was very friendly and promptly filled up our waters.

The server got us sat right away and was friendly. We decide to share a bunch of plates including the pan seared baos, different stuffed rice balls, stuffed scallion pancakes, fried wontons, cucumber salad, purple yam chips, chicken & corn dumplings and Mongolian beef potstickers The pan seared baos and the stuffed scallion pancakes were our absolute favorites. The baos were crispy, rich and juicy. The stuffed scallion pancakes were like tacos with the flakiest and most satisfyingly chewy taco shell. The meat inside was well seasoned and tender. These two dishes in particular are going to be must orders anytime I return. The cheesy kimchi rice balls and purple yam chips were both hits at the table as well. The chips they have made and come out in no time so you can start snacking right away. The rice balls were nice and crispy on the outside than soft and gooey on the inside. They had that bright kimchi flavor. The cucumber salad was good too, the main flavor of them was cilantro so if you don't like cilantro then you should skip it. The fried wontons were standard but satisfying. They did their job. Finally the chicken and corn dumplings and the Mongolian beef dumplings were the weakest of what we ordered. They got mixed reviews from the table. Consensus was that both were pretty bland overall and didn't compare to the other dishes we enjoyed so much. As far as the food there was a lot to love and a couple dishes we'd switch out for something else next time. But we also don't go in expecting to love every dish and are happy to have gotten so many dishes that we do love.
