Brisket, Tri Tip, Hot Links, Potato Salad and Cole Slaw

Have been craving bbq and glad we tried Spill The Tea. We had the brisket, tri tip, and a hot link with sides. The brisket and tri tip were very juicy, tender, flavorful and you can smell and taste the smokiness of the meat. Too bad we came late afternoon as they were out of sides. We will definitely be back to try their other offerings.

    Pulled pork sandwich to go.

The food: Pulled pork sandwich! YUM! Mac & Cheese side. Sauce wasn't over powering in the pork. Came with coleslaw in the sandwich. Very tasteful. Service: food came out fast, Roberto was very nice, made sure everyone was happy with the food and checked if anyone needed anything else with a smile on his face! I'll definitely be coming back to try more food.

We ordered this before as a delivery order and my girls have been wanting to have it again. We were in the are and decided to go. First of all, the ribs were fall off the bone yummy goodness. The brisket is a crowd favorite and out of the 6 sides we can get. We got 4 Mac n cheese because my kids inhale it. Roberto the owner is the nicest. He brought out fresh muffins for us and some extra ribs since he saw the girls loved it. If you're looking to check out a new BBQ place, you have to try this place!

Pulled pork over mac & cheese and a side order of one rib and one hot link

Was craving barbecue and had driven by the spot a few times. I decided to come by today, man was I blown away. The spot has phenomenal service as a little mom pop five of one of those little barbecue spots in Texas. I ordered the pulled pork over mac & cheese and did not disappoint. Their barbecue sauce is not overpowering, and you can still taste the meat of the pulled pork. I also ordered one rib and a hot sausage the rib I pulled the meat off the bone with the fork. It is everything you want in a rib, not overly sauced just the right amount of smoke. The hot link is just as good with the right amount of kick and not overpowering spice. It served with grilled peppers and onions over the top. If you get it as a side item, this is by far one of my favorite hot links with a little bit of a lingering burn after you bite into it. This is by far one of the best barbecues I've had in a while is a definite competitor with others in the area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience was great on this place and I felt warm and welcomed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This barbecue spot is definitely someplace. I enjoyed and felt welcomed the ribs like I said before we're amazing and overall the vibe was awesome. I like that. It is sit back away from all the hustle and bustle. It is definitely a secret little spot tucked away in San Carlos.

Despite for a replacement for Emergency BBQ, I shouldn't be too demanding. I'll need to try it a few more times before I make any more definitive statements. Initial impressions were that the bbq is adequate but their focus might be more on delivery than anyone eating in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They keep the furniture and fixtures from Emergency and the Argentine food truck, but the plexiglass, breakfast focused condiments, and general cleanliness left me a bit concerned.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They didn't have any extra bbq sauce out for those who need it. They served my order on a china plate and a fork, but I had to grab paper towels from one inside table, salt and pepper shakers from other tables. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This told me they're not used to having many patrons eat in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (I don't usually use salt and pepper shakers, but the coleslaw was tasteless.) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Menu on the wall was extensive, but with all the stock photos, and fast food restaurant fonts, it didn't seem they were really focused on foot traffic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My brisket sandwich was flavorful and tender including grilled onions. I'll give it another shot on takeout instead, but not great as a first impression.

After a year or more of San Carlos being a BBQ desert (pour one out for 3 Pigs, Emergency BBQ and ECR's BBQ), we've finally got a spot that means business. The absolute showstopper? Ribs so tender they're basically falling off the bone before you even look at them. We're talking "why-do-they-even-give-you-a-knife" level of perfection. The brisket holds its own too, and the chef dropped by with jalapeño cornbread that'll make your grandma jealous. These folks smoke their meat for 18 hours - the kind of commitment we're looking for in our BBQ relationships. Finally, San Carlos has a BBQ joint worth writing home about TL;DR: Come for the ribs, stay for... more ribs. Bring napkins. Wear stretchy pants. Thank me later.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Would recommend coming to try this place! I wish I was hungrier to try more dishes. The brisket was very tender. The strawberry Nutella crepe hit the spot. The chef came out to say hi and ask if we wanted to try a Demi glaze sauce he was experimenting with. I'm usually disappointed by the Mac and cheese sides at bbq spots but I really liked that the Mac and cheese here did not have a grainy feel which probably means they used real cheese. My fiancé asked for the extra fatty pieces of brisket and they delivered although it's usually not that fatty at other bbq spots so he would have preferred more fat cut off before setting on the bbq.

6.17.2025 Good sized brisket sandwich. $15. The owner and his son are nice folks. They hook it up with portion. Flavor is great. I've had the ribs too they're not bad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Outside seating is plentiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Enjoy.

I'm from Texas so I'm pretty picky about bbq. The brisket here is great. Nice smoke ring. Cooked low and slow for a long time the way it should be. Very juicy meat, even the leaner slices. Perfect smoke ring. Well seasoned. The people working there are all very nice too.

I had a great time and tasty sandwich meal at Spill the Tea BBQ . I had a Tri- Tip sandwich at a reasonable price. The cook restaurant was very nice, and friendly. It made feel good about eating in a good restaurant. Very delicious food for a fair price. I highly recommend it.

The food and service was great. Only downside was that the coleslaw and Mac & Cheese were a little on the dry side. Boyfriend wasn't a big fan of the bell peppers in the corn bread. It wasn't horrible, it was just meh. The brisket and ribs were really delicious, as was the potato salad and the beans! We'll definitely come back again when we're in town.

Ok so this place is top notch! I didn't know about this…read moreuntil my husband said he wanted brisket tacos! Was this even a thing? Yelp search to the rescue! Going by this one item we headed off for lunch! Apparently a lot of others had the same idea. As this place was busy! We drove over, found it easy, parked in one of 3 of their last spots and got in line. Line of 6 moved like a flash. Friendly staff took our order. While we watched a man pull apart lovely looking meat in back. I couldn't stop at brisket tacos, I also ordered Mac and cheese and a peach cheesecake pie slice! My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach! You get two tacos, on the most amazing tasting, fluffy flour tortillas. The meat is piled high! I got full off the pile of meat before I got to my tacos. I'm not a big meat person, so when I say the brisket was out of this world I mean it. It had the perfect fat to meat ratio (which for me is not a lot of fat) to go box please! Desert to go, latter eaten and it was so good! My new go to BBQ place! Yummy yummy!

The brisket was some of the best I've had in the Bay Area while the mac n cheese was super creamy. That visit was 5 stars but that was back in 2024. This latest experience was some of the worst brisket I've had in the Bay Area and would be rated 2 stars. The brisket was dry, chewy, and sliced in the wrong direction (with the grain instead of against the grain). I also tried the pork ribs - meh and the Dino ribs - tender but very fatty instead of juicy and seasoning seemed to be just salt - a lot of salt. The sides of brussels and kale slaw were also just fine. There was way too much vinegar on the kale slaw. There was live music but the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk much less think and we were sitting pretty far away. While I enjoy live music, it would be great if there were parts of the restaurant that was quieter for those looking to talk to their friends or who don't enjoy the specific band that evening. Bartender was a cool dude and staff in general are nice.

We originally had another place in mind, but the wait was over an hour, so we just decided to add ourselves to the waitlist at 7:30PM on a Saturday and we were seated within 20 minutes. Loved the decor and reminded me of a street style eatery. We order a variety of different skewers, but my favorites were chicken gizzards, grilled gristle, and beef tendon because of their textures. I was pleasantly surprised that I also enjoy their shishito peppers and A Choy. It has been a while since I've had skewers and it brings back so many memories. We also ordered fried bun with condensed milk for dessert and it was delicious. The buns were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. So glad we stopped by to give this place to try. Just a heads up, they only accept phone reservations for groups of 6 or more. If you have fewer than 6 people, it's walk-in only. Ordering is done through a QR code where you can add items to your cart. I actually liked that multiple people in the party can scan the QR code and add items themselves instead of having one designated person order everything or having separate carts that no one else can see. The only downside is that it can be easy to accidentally over-order if someone adds something you were already planning to get, so I recommend reviewing your cart carefully before submitting. Since this is a skewer restaurant, you probably won't get super full from just ordering skewers, so I recommend getting some main dishes as well if you want to feel satisfied without spending too much on just meat. Service was pretty quick and the skewers came out in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, they were sold out of a few items we wanted to try, which was a little disappointing, but maybe that's a sign I'll have to come back again. Everything we did try was delicious. The skewers were well-seasoned, and they also have extra seasoning available at the table. They allowed us to bring a birthday cake, stored it in their freezer for us, and provided plastic forks and paper plates, which was a nice touch. Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would consider coming back when I'm in the mood for skewers. I don't think it's somewhere I'd crave all the time, but I have no major complaints. Parking can be a little difficult, but luckily we were able to find public parking at the garage on Flores Street.

I came with a friend and got seated immediately. In terms of service, there wasn't too much interaction with the staff since you order via QR code, but they will come over and put your receipt on the surface of the table and check off your items as they bring them out. Initially, my friend and I thought they grilled the skewers on the plate at the table; however, it comes pre-cooked and grilled, and the plate itself is there to keep your food warm. I looked under, and it's "powered" by a bunch of tea candles. Between both of us, we ordered some skewers of enoki mushrooms (which was my favorite, super tender and flavorful), some beef skewers, a beef skewer with lychee (super unique), beef tongue (a bit tough for my liking), and chicken skin (extremely crispy, somewhat hard to pull off the skewer). I want to call out again the beef with lychee since this was an item I do not see often. It was interesting because the beef was seasoned well and when combined with the lychee, it added a refreshing note; however, the lychee's textural profile was similar to fatty beef, which personally threw me off a bit as someone who tends not to like fatty cuts (if you are a fan though, you'll like this). Overall, this spot is an okay place to check out if you're in the area. Parking in this area of San Mateo is limited, but the restaurant itself has a lot of tables, so it can be good for bigger parties.
