Had a great experience here yesterday. You know, it's a simple thing to buy a couple of sandwiches and you can do that in lots of places... but the efficient and friendly service given to me today at the deli counter by Lisamarie was above and beyond the normal. I noted that all the folks working in this area seemed busy, happy and working away... but always tended to the customer anytime one came up to the counter. Frankly, customer service can be a bit difficult sometimes, but these people greeted and helped each person with a smile and a great attitude. Especially Lisamarie. I took a long time to figure out what I wanted, but she kept an eye on me while she did other things and stepped right up when I seemed ready. She made nice conversation while making my sandwiches, and I completely enjoyed this simple transaction. AND... those sandwiches were great! I'll be back and I'll tell others. read more

This is the closest market so I shop here. My biggest complaints is that the meat dept. smells bad. Sometimes you can smell it from the front door. I can't buy anything from that dept. Also, the Deli Dept needs better supervision or all new employees. Their lack luster and uninterested in being of service. read more

This location is selling expired products. I purchased this today and just noticc Ed the "best but" date was twwk weeks ago! Careful on this loCation. To be honest, this was the second time I have this location reported. The first time was a molded chicken wings. Today is a perishable drink. This place needs to be checked. I sent an email to corporate but with no surprise, their system was down. Funny how the system was down when there's a complain coming in. I also tried to message and post on their Facebook message and apparently, complains are blocked and subject to screening and approval. So best option is yelp since I'm the only one who can edit and delete my review. Also, I have sent an email to California Health Department. I live a few minutes walk from this Vons and unfortunately shop here often. After dozens of disappointing visits I'll make this easy with pros and cons. Pros: -Love the new meat and seafood counter. -Good meat pricing and sale pricing on meat. Cons: -Seafood selection and quality is less than mediocre. -The deli closes when it wants to, it's never the same. I've asked them to post hours multiple times. The punk that's always wearing the baseball cap like a skater could care less and is obnoxious. -Produce pricing is generally very high and quality is mediocre at best. -The Lines.... it's always a 10 minute wait. Always. I've never witnessed them have more than 3 lanes open regardless of the wait. Today I decided forever more that if the line is so long that it goes into the shopping aisles I will be leaving all my goods at the deli counter and walking out. If your in management and read my review, the "your welcome" for me not leaving them in a random aisle or shelf. You can thank me by adding more cashiers. Stuff Jalapeno peppers with mix, wrap with 1/2 slice of bacon. Smoke 200/250 deg for 1.5 - 2 hours indirect heat. MOINK BALLS 1/2 pkg (6 doz) frozen beef Italian flavored MEATBALLS thaw for hour or so, wrap each with 1/2 slice of bacon dust em with some dry rub. Smoke indirect heat 1.5 hrs or until bacon is crisp. Top with a splash of your fav BBQ sauce and serve. FATTY's Weave 1 pack of bacon criss-cross on a pc of wax paper, stick in fridge. Flatten out 1 lb sausage approx 10 x 10. Stuff sausage, roll back into log, dust with dry rub and roll inside of bacon weave. Smoke for 3hrs or until internal temp is 155-160 degrees, take off let rest 30 min before eating. Stuffing and sausages: MEXICAN FATTY = Plain pork sausage + stuffing = chopped cilantro & onion, diced Serrano peppers, diced hot links, Mexican 4 Cheese Mix. ITALIAN FATTY = Hot Italian pork sausage + stuffing = chopped onion & bell peppers, red pepper flakes, minced garlic, chopped pepperoni, mozzarella cheese. HOT ASS FATTY = Hot pork sausage + stuffing = pinch of ghost chili dust, onions, garlic minced, Serrano peppers, diced hot links, hot pepper jack cheese. Maybe the rest of you should go out and be hunters and gatherers and get your own food from the wild. There's a lot of homeless around this place and the staff endures many challenges. This is a small grocery store so it may not have the brands or items that you are looking for. It felt a little cramped, but staff was friendly. It was really close to our timeshare so that was convenient. Inside the shopping complex, there were several Mom and Pop restaurants that looked promising. read more

Irma in the bakery department came through for me big-time. I recently ordered a half-sheet red velvet cake for my Dad's memorial service. (He was a big fan.) When Irma called me to tell me they didn't have any red velvet hours before the service, I was getting ready to boycott Vons and never step inside a store again. But Irma said "I can see this important. Let me see what I can do." Walked in looking to get something made for a picnic with my family. I wasn't aware where to start but I asked Vanessa who was working near the deli department. I told her what I needed and she was such a big help! My family loved the combination of crackers, cheeses and meats. It was all so professional and beautiful. Some of their meat department guys there are not very friendly. I figure if i go to a supermarket to spend money and i am not treated with respect, i go somewhere else. Who these people think pay their salary? No customers, no jobs. The supervisor in this department should be replaced. read more

My Oh My. Vons you have seen your better days. What an embarrassment for this business. What do I picture in my head when I think of the brand name Vons? A store that is modern, clean, dimly lit intimate-like atmosphere with overly priced goods. Here? The inside is seriously lacking beauty! The interior of the store has a 1990 feel to it. Like the parking lot, the store is a ghost town, and the prices are steep! What a bummer this place was! Vons doesn't carry a variety of products like Ralphs does. For example, the Tinkyada gf pasta was not in this particular Vons. Nor was Mia's Kitchen pasta sauce. The Almond Milk is crazy high! I believe it was almost $5 for a stupid jug of that stuff. Overall, I don't think I'll be shopping here much because of the price of food & the lack of variety sold here. What do I like about this store? It's quiet. Too quiet actually. But I went late at night (like 9:30 on a Monday) so that's probably why. The donuts are good too. Nothing special, but good if you are starving & need some carbs. read more

When I used to live in Anaheim, I used to visit this location. Its a little out of my way, but with the Anaheim Packing Station, and the D-Rinks nearby, its a good place to stock up on things. They don't have the commercial brand of take out like some Vons (ie: Panda Express, Starbucks) but they do have a deli, hot soup, and hot entrees to take home. They don't have the largest bakery, but they have a decent selection of self serve breads and bagels. I actually came here for the gift cards. They do have a decent selection, including the sometimes hard to find Chevron $50 gift cards. I stocked up on Starbucks and restaurant cards, so that I could qualify for the discount at the gas station. On my way out, I went next door to Starbucks, and on my way home filled up my gas tank. Honestly the best place for flowers by far. I've visited a countless number of places for flowers and they always lack variety or they're too expensive. I always visit this store on certain holidays because of their large and fresh selection. They also have a nice bakery selection with a fresh deli area. Pricing for groceries is on the pricier side compared to the local competitors, but luckily the store itself is always clean and easy to navigate. If you don't have a Vons card, the employees are nice enough to still honor the discount. read more

I am a regular customer at Von's in Anaheim on Linconln Blvd. However, tonight I am very disappointed with the service I received. I called at 8:00pm to verify the Deli's hours, and the representative at the deli confirmed that they closed at 9:00pm. I arrived at 8:22pm tonight and was met with the representative I spoke to, as he clarified if I was the person who called about their hours earlier. He soon said the hot section was closed as of 8:00pm. I told him it was okay as I was looking for cold cuts. He then said, they just cleaned that section and it closed moments ago, this was at 8:24pm. I am left wondering what section of the deli was actually open for service as it seems they are systematically closing the whole deli before 9:00pm. I don't think it is too much to expect a chain store to close at their posted hours. It is a huge disappointment and very inconvenient to confirm the hours for store then drive all the way there to find they are closed 40 minutes early. I will think twice before heading back to this location. UPDATE-Since writing this review two store managers called concerned about the service I received and thanked me for my feedback. They are talking to the employee I dealt with, and is providing training and posting their hours, which is open till 9:00pm, going forward so as there is no more confusion. So I have lived around this store for almost two years, here's what I see: The store is fine, but I wish it had more meat, a meat counter. The number one problem is cashiers, there are not enough of them. Not once in two years has the allocation of people working registers made any sense. This leads to lines, which leads to irritated shoppers, which results in this stores biggest problem, customer service. The cashiers do not seem to like you or their job and the customer is definitely not the priority here. read more

I have been shopping here for almost a year and a half, since I moved in the walking distance of the store. I come in almost every day, since I come up with new recipe ideas every day. Today, unfortunately, has not been the best of experiences. It's a Saturday afternoon, and they only had one open lane to check out. I proceeded to the self check-out. I did have an alcoholic item in my basket, which I thought would be ok'ed, if I showed my ID. Besides the staff not letting me check out at the self check out counter, they were extremely rude and what it felt like paraded me in front of other guests. I felt extremely vulnerable, and disrespected by the staff. Even though, I'm a frequent customer, I didn't receive any courtesy or respect. This store made me feel very low, and like they were doing me a favor by letting me shop there. It is unacceptable to have a way to treat a customer, and make somebody to feel this badly just by going to a grocery store. read more

The downtown Anaheim Vons that I happen to love! On Anaheim Blvd and Lincoln Ave. I have bought bagels, ice cream, chips, chicken, desserts, fruits, lettuce, gum, beverages and greeting cards here. Some items can be over priced, but with a Vons Club card, you'll save, if what you need/want is on sale. It's clean and well stocked. The clerks and baggers are jovial. I have been caught in troublesome, inefficient check-out lines before, but that is probably just my luck. Most of the time, there are hardly any crowds at this grocery store. I can skip and slide around the market without feeling like I'm in a can of sardines. All departments have helpful workers within each unit, at least from what I have experienced. I even hung out in the magazine aisle once just to kill time. It was a blast! read more

Ok I've had enough. Every time I come here, there's only 1 or 2 cashiers open like other reviewers have said or there's some kind of problem. Just got back from there. Waited 20 minutes in line just to buy some hamburger buns! No I'm not exaggerating. Cards weren't working and they literally didn't tell anyone until they were asked about it and noticed angry customers leaving and making comments. HORRIBLE customer service and everyone seems miserable all the time. The workers at the deli seem to be a lot friendlier for some odd reason. That's why I'm giving 2 stars and not 1. Never coming back. Rather drive 2 minutes more for cheaper prices, faster lines and better customer service at Wal-Mart. read more

I ordered a basic grad cake from Vons bakery but even so the colors & requests I put in were not followed. Was such an ugly cake & looked like a 5 year old decorated it. I didn't end up using the cake since it was for an MBA grad party & went to a local bakery instead to pick up a ready made one. The Vons near my house in Torrance always does an excellent job with all my cake orders so I trusted the bakery dept at the Vons as well. Big mistake. It's a grocery store. Not much you can do to make it exciting or less so (although sure, Stew Leonard's in New England is a bit more exciting) This particular Vons almost never enforces their express lanes or the 3's a crowd, so if you only have a few items you tend to get stuck behind people with massive cartfuls. Combine that with the lunch rush and the fact that they do have pretty good lunch meals, and you've spent most of your lunch in the Express line behind a few people with massive carts. To be fair, I get it. It's a supermarket. You come here to buy groceries. I just wish there was an easier way to check out if you're just grabbing a few items for lunch. read more

Three's a crowd?!? Not here. The lines are long every time I shop here at my local Vons, regardless of the time of day. Today was, sadly, no exception. Actually the worst I've experienced in three years of patronizing this grocery store. I was just in for a "quick trip" that took less than a minute to grab the two things I needed. What was most bothersome about the experience today- I spent an additional 6 minutes in line, with 7 customers ahead of me while a another 6 furthered the line behind me before the only cashier present even called for backup. It took several minutes for backup to slowly creep to the check stands, and additional time to fumble around with getting the check stands open for business. I moved on to a new line finally and the cashier (a "manager") made rude remarks to me when I commented on the "three's a crowd" sign dangling a few feet overhead. It's a "promise" you make to your customers. Keep it or drop it. But when all the customers are furious and talking amongst themselves about the situation, management, of all people, should step up. I get being understaffed, but take responsibility and BE PRESENT for the people... the customers... who pay your check. If you're understaffed use the crew you do have to serve the customer first and deal with administrative stuff later. And for God sake, be pleasant. It is a customer service role, serve the freaking customer! Like, without the attitude. read more

My Friend, "Vons is ghetto!" Me, "No way! Its located in the ghetto but with these prices it doesn't attract the ghetto." I walked into this Von's at around noon and it was pretty empty. Yeah for not having to dodge people, or wishing I can knock over their annoying little rug rats that is screaming and running up and down the isle. These are my issues with their product. Silk almond milk. I went through the entire fridge because they were going to expire in a few days. I don't drink milk that fast. I wanted plain ones but ended up with vanilla flavor since that one seem to be newer. water,. I went up and down the drink section. Juice, Tea, soda, flavored water. I finally found a case of bottled water but they only had one brand that I never even heard of. Spinach, I went though a few of them because they didn't look too fresh. Eggs, A lot of them were broken. I went through like 10 of them before I found one that I was able to purchase. There was also this nice employee, that seem to like eggs. She kept on talking about how she loves Egglands best. How they taste so good and what a great product they are. I don't know why she was giving me the spiel when I already had a carton of them in my hand. Weird. At check out they had 2 counters open, one regular and an express 10 items or less. of course I had more than 10 items and I was stuck behind a lady writing a check. I don't know what happened but they were having issues with a gift card. The clerk called for the manager and I am stuck standing there watching. Its like do i pack my cart back up and move to the 10 items or less when i have more than 10 items or do i stand there and wait? When it was my turn my friend started bagging my items because no one was bagging it. I was like, "This is not food for less!" Finally the bag girl came over and her and the cashier started bagging my items together and to speed up the process i loaded them into my cart. read more

I'm extra nice to the staff there during this Sh't show. I really do appreciate them for going to work. I feel bad saying this. But there's a bagger guy here who always makes comments or asks a lot of questions or talks a little too personally. I guess he's probably dealing with some kind of milder mental illness, maybe Aspergers? I feel sorry for him... But he makes me feel a teeny bit uncomfortable. A few times he's been really insistent about talking to me after I'm already walking away and I really just want to be left alone. The seafood sucks. Steer clear. As far as these complaints of rotting cilantro and whatnot, though-- I usually have no problem checking my own fruits and vegetables for rotting or whatever *before* I put it into my cart? Geez, I don't know about you guys... you have eyes and a nose, right? If it doesn't look good, don't buy it. Ain't that hard. Don't bother trying to go to the deli/bakery for service. It's a joke. If there's even anyone there (we waited 15 mins on a Saturday with manager paging help repeatedly), you will be treated like you're some kind of bane of existence for wanting to buy food. Bakery department review- When looking for a coworker's birthday cake this morning, I was blown away by the unsanitary habits of the bakery and bakery manager! I'm a slight germ freak so my expectations might be higher than the average person but wow I can't believe what I saw. I'm half awake but I can't imagine Vons would be ok with their bakery manager eating items directly from the baking pans on the racks in front of customers. What's worse, we made eye contact and I nervous looked down before being approached by a bakery employee with the cake I requested. Sadly, I had to refuse the request because I'm not certain it was made within the standards of the health code. I've previously worked the bakery department of Albertsons's so I have experience with the standards of a clean and sanitary area. They need to fix and revise their procedures pronto!!! read more

Overpriced, but most chains are; the only way to make up for cost is service and this store is found wonting. Majority of the staff puts out the absolute bare minimum effort. Last time I went there, the bagging duty ended up being split by the cashier and myself and then the bagger finally showed up at the end. As a result my bags were strewn all over the bagging counter. The bagger stood there watching me and mouth-breathing as I struggled to reach across the counter to collect all of my bags. Some of the staff is borderline creepy too. Lines are always long and there is never more than 2 lines open. The ones that are nice and helpful are amazing but they're rarely there. I shop here only because I live two blocks away and I can walk. But I find that I talk myself into driving somewhere else more and more often. which says a lot because I have to walk 2 blocks to a parking structure and give up my premium parking spot. So I live within walking distance and I thought "great Vons next to my place!" This is just not a very nice Vons, the store is small and the selection is lacking. The Meat department... they don't have a meat counter ? They don't have a case where you can get fresh product? They have Deli and a Bakery though. The wine Selection is very limited and they don't stock any wines over $35.00. The lines at the register are always extremely long (10 people in each line) they only open two lines, the customer service is lacking and the staff is no where to be found. If you want quality meat go to Wheat and Sons at the packing house which just opened, they are an amazing butcher. read more

Stopped in late night after being stranded in Downtown Fullerton. Decided to stop in here before going home (walking from Downtown to Orange was not fun)... so I hiked it here, saw folks at the bus stop out front and checked the bus schedule. I had 18 minutes, so I went in to grab a water and a snack for later. Took me about a minute to grab my water and some fruit. I walked to the register and found a line that looked like Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins was handing out free babies circa 1997 in West Hollywood. Does that make sense? So I sat there. Waited. Looking at my watch. No other employees being called up. Other team members walking behind us, looking at the line, but not taking the initiative to get a checkstand running. People getting annoyed. The whole bit, I don't have to spell it out. Long story short, I was so thirsty from the hike from Downtown and wanted my water, but sure enough, I missed my bus. Story ends on a solid note, because here I am writing this review, but at the same time, I figure they could have some better organization here with regards to schedules and opening up a new checkstand... maybe hiring a couple more folks? read more
