A great, laid-back restaurant. It's a little out of the way, but it's worth it in great service and great food.

Visit #1: I ordered the Voo Doo Tots and the prime filet. The tots? Okay, these were amazing. Like, I could've just eaten those and been happy. The steak was a solid prime filet--cooked well and enjoyable, even if it didn't quite steal the show from the tots. Visit #2: I tried the Chef's Charcuterie Board (which, plot twist, is served on a plate... not a board) and the Forklift Fried Chicken. The chicken plate was a little disappointing for me. The collard greens and cornbread were definitely "not how momma made them" (kidding... kind of). Still edible, just not memorable. Both visits left me satisfied, but it's more of a "stroll back" than a "run back" kind of place. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, which always bumps a restaurant up a notch in my book. I didn't try one of their Old Fashioneds--apparently what they're known for--but I did go for the Fire of Mordor cocktail. Tequila-based, delicious, and honestly the name alone sold me. Cozy restaurant, and we had reservations both times even though it wasn't packed. Overall, Forklift is a nice spot to land for a good meal in Tupelo.

No preservatives in anything served. I had fried chicken, red potatoes, mac-n-cheese, cole slaw, white beans, cornbread, pineapple casserole, wheat bread and fried catfish. Desserts are made there too. I had fudge pie with homemade vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. Everything was absolutely delicious. The butter is churned there as well. Picnic tables are on the front porch and a swing hangs from the ceiling. There is a vintage cash register used when you make payment for your meals. There is also a store with jelly, jams and other items made there. I bought a tee-shirt. I highly recommend visiting here. Bring your appetite. Everything is buffet style. The owner is friendly. Check hours of operation before you show up. Good parking. Clean restrooms. If possible I would give more than 5 Stars. I am not a local. I am visiting my daughter and grandchildren in Florence. My daughter found this wonderful place because someone from her job recommended it. I will definitely return.
