Since late Feb., we have worked with three sales professionals in mens's suits all of which have provided us exceptional service. Sarah dove in when we were in a jam needing a new black suit for my husband for an upcoming wedding. John went in right after her to help us out with an exchange and an order for two items from two different stores. Today and I'm horribly embarrassed I didn't get our third sales professional's name, I walked in seeking the items that would have been delivered yesterday to find them at the store and we were able to right size everything my husband needed for a wedding next weekend. Von Maur is exceptional. Three different sales touch points all with exceptional service and optimal consistent experiences. That RARELY happens, if ever. Today, upon our repurchase, our sales professional said he was going to process us and ensure John got the credit. Integrity at its finest. I love the store experience. I love the pianist team they have - seen two now since I seem to be going there more often. :) I'm so relieved we got my husband hooked up. I'm impressed with the store, the staff, the overall experience. Bigger fan than I was in February and too many years way to late as I never tried Von Maur out until now. THANK YOU ALL! read more

You may like Von somewhat, but I like Von more. I used the lovely palatial restrooms in this department store a couple of times and I noticed that they have some pretty good deals on certain things - although they still have high department store prices on others. One of my favourite things about it was the live Piano music, which wasn't here the last time I came in, but generally I have noticed that - I hope it's still a regular fixture here as I write - and I don't know any other Mall department stores that do that so that is really awesome. read more

Von Mar has always been a favorite store for us. A little Nostrum. Always friendly service with a smile. We have purchased items in one Part of the country, ( Michigan ) and returned them in another part. ( Columbus ) . We never has any problem returning items even with out a receipt. It may be that my wife has a Von Mar Card and she spends allot here. This is on par with Nostrums only in a smaller scale. read more

This is a great store to shop at. It is one of the most upscale stores in Polaris. They always have a live piano player. The staff is very helpful. They have some great sales on shoes in the shoe room(that's mostly what I come in for). They also have something for everyone in the family and you can find great gifts here! read more

I normally wouldn't feel the need to review a department store. But I do think Von Maur needs a shout out for their outstanding women's room. When my preschooler was still a baby, I'd take my older child to Polaris so she could run around the play area and so we could walk around the mall to get off the couch without suffering Ohio summer weather freshly postpartum. I'd always make a point to go to Von Maur's women's room for diaper changes and nursing. It's quite and tucked away, clean and abundant with comfortable chairs to settle into. If someone is playing piano, you can usually hear it while you're sitting there, I probably dozed off a few times On to a more recent complement, their kids shoe department is our go-to now that stride rite is gone. They carry lots of high quality shoes, like Plae, kamik, uggs, sperry's, pediped, etc. My son wears an AFO brace, anytime we've had to size up shoes due to a new brace we've been able to find a pair of shoes that works well for us. It's so convenient to not have to mess around online trying to deduce what might work and then praying that it does so I don't have to ship it back. The staff is always friendly and accommodating when we need several sizes of many different shoes. We will most definitely keep returning here for kid shoe needs. read more

I've been a loyal customer for 20 years! In 2019/2020 this "family owned" department store has changed for the worst! What has made me a loyal customer all these years is GONE! I even moved to California and continued my loyalty to the midwestern store until the following occurred: First, they changed the minimum amount you must spend to receive free gift wrapping (from $0 to $10) AND changed the types of wrapping offered (from a noteworthy array of amazing options to THREE- white, blue, or red). Secondly, in August of 2020, they changed their return policy. You may no longer return or exchange items that are more than 50% off!!! What the heck?! Third, as of November 2, 2020, customers who want to purchase sale items online MUST PICK UP AT A STORE! Some customers can't or won't purchase a $100 pair of jeans until they're marked down to $50 or $25 and that is COMPLETELY normal! I mean, really Von Maur? During the pandemic you insist we all show up in person? And for those of us that don't live near a store with inventory...Shall we fly to the Midwest to get a good deal? I mean, we could always You call one of the 40+ stores and have them check inventory, purchase items, and get them shipped as I was advised today, but really Von Maur?! And not one single Von Maur employee has the ability to search available inventory?! Is this the Stone Age?! Are you really telling me that you expect your customers to call 40+ stores to purchase items for shipping simply because they are on sale?! You know what? Have your store! I'll shop at Nordstrom, Macy's, Bloomingdales, etc. from now on. And for the record, whoever you hired that has made these RIDICULOUS policy changes has most definitely ruined your reputation and caused a lot of lost sales and customers! I was recommended to go to the store to look for a dress for a wedding. I had never heard of the store nor bend to the store from the moment I walked in it was a fantastic experience. I was greeted and asked What I was looking for. By the time I got back from the restroom Shelley customer service in dresses had a dressing Room full of dresses waiting for me. After telling her my size and what I was looking for her choices were perfect. The store was beautiful piano player was playing the whole time I was in the store. The restrooms looked like they were made for The ritz Carlton hotel period from customer service to clean big aisle ways to fantastic merchandise I would highly recommend this store read more

I do my once-a-year clothes shopping at Old Navy and Kohl's, so it might seem odd for me to write a review of Von Maur, which has men's clothing but not the type I would buy. I've been dragged to this store many times by my wife, who considers it some sort of retail utopia. Some of her favorite stores, like Sephora, I refuse to go into because they're so darn boring, but Von Maur's saving grace is a comfortable little sitting area. There's no flat-screen TV or bar, sadly, but they do have a baby-grand piano and a cadre of skilled piano players that fill the store with amazing music. They usually play pop standards, but once I asked the guy if he knew "Claire de Lune." He winced and said it'd been a long time since he'd played it, but then proceeded to pump out a perfectly beautiful version of that long and difficult piece from memory. I was seriously impressed. What, you want info about the merchandise? I can't really help you, except to say that my wife daydreams about shopping here. She also likes the fact that they will alter and/or ship items to your house free of charge. That's a nice touch. read more

How did I not know about this gem? I mistakenly thought it was another Macy's-type store, so I never went in! [insert faceplam emoji] Like Terry W says, the closest comparison would be Nordstrom, but it's better than Nordstrom in some areas- but not all. The goodies: All the brands you love! Complimentary alterations! Complimentary gift wrapping! Complimentary shipping to any address! Automatic replenishment of beauty products and cosmetics purchased online! Interest-free credit card! If they don't have your item, they will order from another store and ship it to you at no additional cost. I'm certain there are more I haven't discovered, I've only been there once. My significant other bought me a coat for Christmas, from Macy's. It didn't fit properly, so off to Macy's we go. I haven't been in there for years-I don't like shopping at Macy's and attempting to return and purchase a coat reminded me why. Crowded, messy, under-staffed, over-worked employees who are grouchy, piles of coats lying everywhere, no dressing room attendant, dirty, lack of personal service... 45 minutes of coat shopping felt like 3 hours! We had to take a break, so off to Von Maur with low expectations... I was wrong. Upon entering, I see a beautifully organized selection of ladies coats, artfully arranged unique displays and piano music calms my nerves, frazzled from yelling over pop music remixes at high decibel levels at the other store. A woman greets me with a warm smile and asks how she can help. She introduces me to the store and how awesome it is. She spent a great deal of time helping me choose my items, while also assisting multiple other people. The rest of the store was just the same, the employees very helpful and friendly but not pushy. There when I needed them, gone when I didn't. The downside is... I'll have to think about that after my next visit because I haven't found it yet. If you like Nordstrom or Saks, you'll like Von Maur. The store isn't as big as others mentioned in this post, but they had everything I was shopping for that day and I think it helps keep the staff on point. I am buying clearance, but lately hand written markdowns that are made in a red pen were not accurate. Paid $17 instead of $12,when came the next time just asked the sales person,and she said it scanned $17, but it said $12, she did not do $5 sales adjustment. Fine,less then 5 min. later see a $13 shirt,came to the same sales person,and it scanned $19, she fixed that. That is the only thing, I love the deals, but they need to be more accurate,and to make sure that handwritten price is the correct one. read more

Wow gotta say I'm disappointed i was never once greeted when my husband, kids and I walked in, not one staff even said hi or acknowledged that we were there, a noticed a few staff talking amongst themselves, I was very interested in a fancy perfume but not once were we waited on so walked down to Sephora in the mall and was helped right away, this was my first visit to Von Maur and definitely my last if I'm going to spend that kind of money I want actual customer service. My sister came in from Chicago for the weekend early December. I suggested we seek out Polaris mall to see Christmas decorations and music. Much to our disappointment, the mall was not decorated. Many of the stores had very minimal decorating as well. Then we went into Von Maur! Thank you. We loved it. The decor, the music, the displays - Everything! You saved the day. This was the 2nd December I was able to shop in Columbus. MY husband had business downtown but I knew I wanted to return to this lovely store. It was WONDERFUL! Granted it was 10:30 AM but soft creams floors, red shaded table lamps, Christmas trees everywhere, free gift wrapping and a piano playing, and A lot of women willing to wait on you --and the women's bathroom!!!! ! WOW! I purchased 2 full price lovely items and I still felt like I got my money's worth. Kudos to them! read more

Beware of Von Maur. They will not return your purchase, even if it's a merchandise defect and you have a receipt. I found this posting online with the same story this week: I purchased a dress for my 4 year old to go to a dance from Von Maur. As she wore the dress the seams in the straps came out, while she was at the event. I made an attempt to exchange for two other dresses of greater value then the dress and little sweater I originally purchased. I could not believe that the manager denied my the exchange, even if the dress had a hidden defect that came out as it was worn ONCE. It was a manufacters issue for not stitching the dress properly because there was not enough material after the seams to hold in the stitches. Manager tells me she will not take it back beacuse it has been worn. I had the orginal sales receipt and everything. This is bad business practice and I hope people who read this will be weary of any purchase from these types of stores. This is not a WalMart Dress for under $20.00 (and they even hold up better then this and would take it back if it was defective especially accompanied by receipt) this is a nice store a man playing the piano on the main floor and with a pricey tag to go with. Personally I hope they go under soon with this kind of customer service (or lack there of). BEWARE of Von Maur. My daughter and I have been shopping at Von Maur for years and have always been so impressed! Clean, open, inviting atmosphere makes it such a pleasure to shop! The associates are very good about approaching, as needed. The dressing rooms are attended and always spacious and clean. The best part is the genuine markdowns are the REAL DEAL! No perpetual sales, coupons, doorbuster games, just several racks of merchandise, marked down by a human with red ink! Ahhhh, so refreshingly old school! Once the girl came around the cashwrap to thank me, invite me back and hand me my shopping bag (yes, always a handled bag!) I was hooked!! The restrooms are white, huge and you feel like you're in a palace! And...I have always applauded them for not conceding to the early bird, ridiculous, holiday hours, as well! Their employees seem happier and appreciative for it and it really translates! Way to go Von Maur!! Von Maur is a outstanding shopping experience. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. The free gift wrap is another plus for this store. They carry unique giftware and the ladies in this department are so helpful. The clothes are well made and if you need alternations again it is a free service. The racks is not cramped full of clothes you can easily navigate the racks and walk through the store in comfortable. I feel relax and enjoy my shopping experience at Von Maur. My over all experience with the product is great. Customer service is lacking in the shoe department. Staff are poorly trained, slow to approach customers and if there is a problem, they do not seek a solution. Recently, I returned UGG boots that tore at a non stress seam. The sales person stated it was normal wear and tear for a boot worn only for 3 months. No help was offered and I had to call the UGG cust. service where I received overwhelming help and a new pair of boots. The shoe department manager of VonMaur is sorely lacking the skills of customer service. Nordstroms has always received my concerns with equal concern and numerous ways they "can" help. If the only advantage VM has to offer over online stores is customer service, they are in trouble. As for me, if I am buying high end shoes, I am buying at Nordstroms. VM lost my business. read more

I actually like Von Maur as a store. It has a good selection of clothes that are nice, but still a bit more affordable than Nordstrom. Overall I like the fact that you can pick up some good deals on their sales racks. The only thing I don't like is that some of the staff don't know their product very well. I recently tried to buy a men's shirt and I knew more about the product than the clerk did! Not good. Also, there's a janitor that starts pushing everyone out of the bathrooms a good 15 minutes before the store closes. For that fact alone I docked one star off. read more
