On clearance and HALF OFF. Treat for me.
    Ebenezer's Anni L.

I had to go here to find the sugar free Raspberry Syrup from Torani. I was almost out of that flavor and the others I took with me when I had to move from Saline last December. Why would I need it you may ask? Snow cones. EBS LOVED snow cones. He LOVED them enough to have an industrial 100 lbs an hour ice shaver on the condo's kitchen counter. He had downsized from the 300 lbs an hour one he had before he divorced and moved out of the family house - that one was in the garage and left for estate sale. The 100 lbs one is now on my kitchen counter. Now, I love snow cones, but he really did. I just thought it was ONE of our strange ways we were alike UNTIL I saw Crazy Rich Asians and saw the scene at the food court. I understood a little more than. I have never been to this store before, but as I walked around, I knew where EBS got some of favorite food. Lots of interesting things to blow money ON. It will be a while for me to visit again since I brought all 3 bottles they had. But if you enjoy snow cones also. This is the place for the syrup you use.

I steer straight toward the back where the food section is. Got a bubble tea set for 55% off (included two huge straws that fit boba!), guava syrup for pancakes, and a Belgian chocolate bar with sprinkles, mini M&Ms, and peanut butter chips. And an adorable Betty White tin of mints!

World Market is probably one of my favorite stores since it has a bunch of random international food items. Their food section is like an international convenience store from countries around the world. They also have really nice household items that are reasonably priced. During any holiday they have really cool items to purchase too. Around Christmas they have a large variety of advent calendars that can be candy, tea, chocolate, hot sauces, popcorn, alcohol and other types of food. They sell out quickly though. As of December 2021 they do require masks when inside the store and have complimentary masks in the front if you need one.

I found some cool things at World Market. It's got some upscale food and furniture but most are priced reasonably. There's lots of alcohol which makes it a must stop. It also has other good stuff for gift ideas. There's other of these stores but this was the best one around. I will buy most of my stuff at cheaper stores, but this place has some good values. This World Market is pretty fun to walk through. It has, like the name says, products from around the world. It's not cheaply made shit either. They have an excellent beer and wine selection. It's not overly expensive for most of them. They also have a pretty nice selection of furniture, which has discounts on some of it. I won't always buy something. It's a good store if you have no idea what you want and looking for random stuff to give to anyone. There is plenty to make someone want to check it out.

I just purchased a cabinet from them. Cheap, no, but comparable in price to similar items, including from the online sites that don't allow you to touch the item before purchasing. It was exactly what I needed for the space, so splurged a bit. I had a relative meet the delivery team 6 weeks later, and one door on the cabinet wasn't sliding perfectly. He worked on it 30 minutes but ultimately could not get it to be up to the standard of the model in the store. Within one week, they had a replacement delivered. They were very communicative about delivery times and gave a 1 hour window so we didn't spend half a day waiting around. I agree with some other reviewers that the in-store staff aren't overly warm, but I have always been welcomed with a hello and they were more than helpful when I have asked for assistance. In one of the pics I saw a little beehive Christmas ornament so thought I would go check it out (my mom is bee anything crazy). I wasn't sure where the GPS was taking me but once I saw the beatiful mural on the side, I knew where I was heading. Really friendly staff and some really cute gifts here. I was promptly greeted when I came in and was offered some coffee or water. I had to pass as it was a quick stop but I really liked the vide here. The shop had a bit of everything including clothing, candles, jewelry, and all sorts of gifts including some gorgeous drinking glasses. Definitely worth browsing just to check it all out. Overall, it looked like the general price point is on the higher end but nothing too outrageous for a boutique shop. I did find the ornament I saw in the picture but I know my mom already has the same one, or one that could pass off as its twin anyway. So many cute gifts and would totally visit again even though I didn't find something this trip. I really had to resist buying something just to buy it (holidays and all) but they have so much cute stuff.

However, I found the prices to be a turnoff. I saw several items that seemed to be vastly over priced. And it made me a little suspicious. For example- pulleys. I couldn't find one under $125. But I have bought several of the same quality for $40-$70 apiece. Similarly- old doors. Some of the doors marked $425 can be easily found elsewhere for $50-$100. Certainly some were worth the price but I was shocked at how many plain wood doors were marked up that high. All this being said, I don't know much about what the Columbus market will bear and they do have some truly amazing stuff here. I saw a phenomenal stained glass window- appeared to be from an old church? And glass door knobs- they had a ton of those as well as other hard to find hardware... Bottom line, I might stop here if I have my heart set in something in particular but it will have to be an investment piece... And something super special...

Even the music is period so as I was shopping I felt a little like I was in a tv show or movie- it was surreal. (Esp because I was born in the 80s ;)) However, for me I didn't find anything to take home, and I think it was because the prices were a little beyond what I felt comfortable with. For example- there was a jadeite Bowl in the front display case, and it was priced at double what I paid for the exact same one the day before at the Country Living fair. There were also two other smaller bowls marked jadeite but I don't think they were... and in the back was a statue marked $16 and I have a similar one I rescued for half that in Maryland. In fairness I'm not from Ohio so I don't know what the market will bear and I don't love all mid century modern I tend to like some of it... But the store is immaculate, and all the items are immaculate- and that doesn't come cheap. For example- I saw a pristine teal blue sofa set- two chairs, a large sofa and a loveseat in better condition than some new couches I've seen in show rooms. And a hanging silk Hollywood regency lamp that was delightful. And some of those little plastic serving dishes that are so hard to come by... I think I would come here if I was looking for something in particular from the 60s or 70s. Or if I was shopping with a friend looking for high quality authentic mid century modern furniture.
