Recently had car issues when we were visiting Gatlinburg. We were down the street from Volunteer Chevrolet when the issue started so I stopped by the service department there. The gentleman there were very helpful an walked me through what it could be. We landed on the alternator was going out. They explained what would happen before the car would shutoff. Asked if they could service it and they said they would try an work it in over the next couple of days. I left my car with them that evening. The Service Department provided great service on getting the issue resolved. The issue I have is they told me my battery would also need to be replaced at a cost of $487 dollars. The current battery was maybe a 18 months old. I questioned the cost right off the bat an they dropped the cost by $150. Then I asked them to check the battery again which they said they did and they said it still failed. I asked them if I could keep the battery and they gave it to me when I picked up the car. They did install a new battery as I was really not in a position to decline. Once we returned home I took the battery to a couple of auto parts stores an the battery checked out fine at both locations. I called the service manager at the dealership an asked how they checked the battery and he proceeded to tell me about their $8000 dollar battery tester an it said it failed an that was it. I told him I had gotten the battery checked at afew locations where I live an was told the battery was fine. The service manager pretty well just blow me off. While I am not 100% sure but I do believe I just got a battery tacked on to my bill just because they could. Costly lesson learned. read more

I made an appointment to get my 2024 GMC Canyon fixed under warranty. I took it in at 9:10 am for a 9:30 appointment. I was told around 2 hours. 3 hours later I went to check on it and they had not even started on it yet. 6-1/2 hours later I called and they couldn't find anyone to talk to me and after being on hold for a very long time, I asked for the manager or the owner. I was told they'd have to find him and he'd call me back. He called and said it's not done and that there were multiple updates that it needed and each one has to be done individually and that's what's taking so long. UPDATE: They called after 5 PM and said it was ready. I picked it up and now the speed limit register on the dash doesn't work. It worked before, but not now. Also the paperwork said it only had one update done for the radio, not multiple updates like the service manager told me. I now have to take it back again for the problem they created or find another dealer that can actually fix it without breaking something else or telling me there were multiple updates when there was only one. I wish there was a competent service department where I could take my truck to get it repaired. This one is NOT it. This is not the first time I've had major problems with them. See my other review for my brakes a couple years ago. read more

Don't bring nothing there you own !! Volunteer Chevrolet / Sevierville , tn /" See reviews online" Estimate verbal given for initial work to be done $2700 and change plus taxes if so they would get a couple hundred dollar discount off and offer it. Making it around 2544 and change plus taxes when speaking to Damien while promising you, the world tells you that your remotes will work as properly functionable as a vehicle supposed to again once parts are replaced and car is reprogrammed your lane direction thing will also work as we discussed to read the lanes that is part of it . After they had gotten done and ordered two parts one the dealership had and one they had to order in the same day Saturday having the car and Monday Casey calling to tell you the vehicle is ready for pick up puzzled not knowing that the vehicle was repaired ready to be picked up if you would like itwould be 2544+ taxes , to get the vehicle properly working where the remotes would work outside of the car and also just inside the car to start it not in a programmable console every time to start it and the lane detection and everything would work would be an additional $1700 and change on top of it. Yet not sending you the first bill itemized what the parts would be or nothing as there is no invoice on the work, but yet quoting you a price and sending it over no problem $5700 repair telling you no need it just items that came up. He just forwarded over to my phone . Telling what should be example of a service manager Kevin that he did laugh while in discussion over the phone with the customer Kevin stating that Casey did admit to laughing and yet while talking and discussing the matter with Kevin and me after a while had said oh my gosh,""!! to me on the phone I said what was the oh my God gosh for i said he said I have to agree with Casey why he was laughing.!! You just keep talking and keep going around in a circle discussing the service that they were gonna do on the vehicle for the quote amount that they were gonna give extra on top of the original estimate verbally nothing in writing no invoice no itemized estimate . which there is no paperwork no signature for the customer or to the customer. $1700 on top of the 2544 plus taxes would fix what they had promised would fix it original but yet wanted you to pick up your vehicle if you want it and it's ready . Yet with verbiage to the customer that they would put a mechanic lien on the vehicle if you didn't want to get it like a threat. ! I asked to speak to what should represent as a general manager, Nick, which never replied, never called me back as a message left for him the night before and the day of . I had to make two phone calls to the dealer to get him on the phone once got him on the phone. He said that it looked like I had an estimate for air-conditioning which nobody discussed in service at all the air conditioner or nothing was ever brought forward in a conversation of air-conditioning. I said I'm not sure what you're talking about and then we started to talk about what had happened prior to the vehicle ever being brought into the dealer. I simply basically quickly explained. I was having the vehicle towed over because the vehicle would not start. It responded lit up the dash lit up the interior example. Vehicle had no problems of such other than the mention of the lane detection was already there, and that the remotes were already fully functionable outside the vehicle and also inside the vehicle not in a center console programable pocket he said look look whoa whoa whoa stop. Stop stop.!! He said you're not gonna do this again. He said you've already discussed this with the service manager. He said you've got two options you can come and pick up your vehicle for the amount of the 2544 with taxes as was originally quoted over a phone, the additional work if you wish to choose, they gave me never no paperwork as I tried to explain he verbally made a statement of like a demand that he would put a lien on the vehicle mechanicals lien he hung up the phone on me. estimate given for the estimate given estimate no details of invoice ever given to me, I told him . or sent over to me like on my phone or nothing but yet they found a way to send over a $5700 bill to me, after the 2544 estimate originally plus taxes then quoted me $1700 and change for the stuff that they said would work for that amount of the 2544.00 plus taxes once reprogrammed all would work exact verbiage out of Damien once reprogrammed it'll take care of that lane detection everything would function properly and remotes will work.. exact verbiage from them! car will be back to function as intended They choose to do a full alignment with no authorization that I had done on the vehicle already two days before the only thing in conversation was discussion of how does the Camber adjust out the tires in general conversation if tires had any side of wear on them, that's it""!!! Called early am and ask about the Chevy Colorado to make sure it was still instock since the price on line showed $62000 with a red line thur the price and asking to contact them for the best price, When we go there we were told by cody that the sales manager said they were actually about to mark that up. so definetly a bull crap ad. Don't bother coming here if you're in town for vacation, you will not be accommodated. I stopped in due to my car randomly shutting off and then check engine light coming on. I was told by the service advisor it would be at least a week and a half before a tech would look at it even though I told her I was in town on vacation. Asked her to put the diagnostic tool on it and get the readout, then she just gave me a list of independent repair shops in the area. I immediately called and spoke with a tech at the dealership I use back home in Michigan and he said it would have been a 20 minute fix, but they couldn't be bothered to check to see how long it would take to help someone hundreds of miles from home. read more

My car battery died and needed to be replaced. I replaced it myself at home but after installing the new battery my car wouldn't start and the computer was locked down in "limp mode". I got my car towed to Volunteer Chevrolet and they did an excellent job. They got to my car the day after it arrived, reset the computer, fixed a loose connection, addressed the theft light that had come on, pumped up my tires as they noticed they were low, and washed my car as well. They were extremely reasonable on the price, it was well under $100. They were attentive and courteous throughout. I have used them before for oil and differential fluid changes and they have always taken the utmost care of me and my vehicle. Highly recommended. read more

Second time at this dealership since moving to the area and I'm not exactly sure why they make appointments since they never have a technician available to perform the service. Now this is my second attempt at service here and have had the same results, however, there is twenty people sitting with me with similar issues. Probably won't be doing business here again but Chevrolet might want to reach out to the owners and look into this. It's a real shame too, there much closer for me than Knoxville. **Update** When you don't think it can get worse, received a call saying my car was ready, explained what they found and repaired and when asked if they inspected the brakes as ordered when the vehicle was dropped off he explained, and I quote: "He didn't take the wheels off but looked from the outside and thinks there's about 50% left and should be okay".... So in part, not only was my time not that important at first, we also find that my safety was equally as unimportant....wondering if the FTC and the NTSB would agree.... read more

Absolutely horrible is a great way to describe the service department here! Today marks 7 weeks that my truck has been sitting there and I get nothing but excuses and run around from them. I could go on and on with all the different lines of BS I've gotten over this timeframe. The same issue I'm dealing with now was first reported to them 3 years ago when I bought the truck brand new off their showroom floor! I was told "that's just what these trucks do, it's normal, nothing to worry about" I subsequently reported it as still happening over the last few years and was told, "it's nothing". Clearly, it's something! They didn't care then and they surly still don't care now. Don't waste your time or hard-earned money here! I'm a single mom with 2 little girls and to be without my only vehicle for 7 weeks with no fix or offer of a loner is awful service. Case reported to GM directly today!! read more

My husband was a mechanic. His dementia now has changed everything. And Volunteer Chevrolet has been a gift. A gift. The car began to chug and some lights went on that I knew nothing about. I was frightened and my husband was confused. I called Volunteer Chevrolet where we purchased our Sonic in 2014. They listened as I struggled to describe what was happening, but with confidence, they advised me to have the car towed because of the flashing engine light. So I called USAA roadside assistance and they towed the car to Volunteer Chevrolet. It was a Friday midday. We have no other car. I began to try to rent a car. But Volunteer called me that I needed a coil pack and spark plugs. And the car was soon ready. Volunteer Chevrolet is a quality organization that is always interested in doing the right thing. A rare blessing in these days. read more

There should be a NEGATIVE star option. When the Dealership Manager (Jason) and 2 Salesmen ( Marvin and Lee) begin a process of selling a vehicle and then SELL it out from under... I would say that equates to UNethical business practices. They strung us along for over a week only to get a casual call at 6:00 in the evening to say ... sorry all we can do is apologize!" Well if your told the vehicle is in the service garage and it's taking extra time because they are sooooo busy and sooooo short staffed... honest hardworking consumers are led to believe that patience will bring the result of a vehicle. On top of this dishonest bait and switch was the fact that they wouldn't even attempt to offer an alternative or compensatory offer. Everyone knows the car industry is a ridiculous money scam and I guess this is why Carvana will soon put them out of business. Just terrible. One of the worst, if not the worst Chevrolet dealership in the country. I own 4 Chevrolet vehicles and moved to the area recently. Their service department is terrible, if you bring your vehicle here for service, expect to wait forever for parts. Then when the parts finally arrive, expect that your seat will be moved up to nut crunch setting and radio stations changed If you want to trade in your vehicle, expect an offer 40% lower than it is really worth. And if you are trying to buy a vehicle from them, expect that they only sell gold. They want 40% more for their vehicles than what they are worth. Criminals in all aspects of the dealership. (Would give 0 stars if that were an option!) I am majorly disappointed in Volunteer Chevrolet of Sevierville, TN. I trusted them with the purchase of my first new car. This is a purchase that I most certainly don't take lightly. My first issue is that I was NOT TOLD until after I had signed all the paperwork and was literally in the vehicle that I had signed on, that the heated seats didn't work. I was then told Volunteer Chevrolet themselves, would let me know when they would get the replacement fuses to put into the vehicle. I waited month after month. No calls to me about the item. Finally, I called the service center to ask about the arrival of that part. I left a message that no one returned. I called the next morning and waited on the phone for 20 minutes and no one in the service department answered the phone. I had to call my salesman, to find out what the status of the parts was. Chris told me that I would receive a letter in the mail notifying me of the part's arrival. In the meantime, the same week I purchased my brand new vehicle the camera system quit working. I had to take the vehicle in to have it fixed/updated. (This has happened 2x since ownership) When we were on vacation in September, the turbo went out in the car. I called the service center yet again. I was told it would be over 3 weeks before they could get me in. I explained that this was a 2022 brand-new Chevrolet Equinox and she didn't care. I literally have committed OVER MSRP for this vehicle, and I was told that I was basically out of luck on having someone look at it. Since they were swamped, there was NOTHING they could do! I understand that other people have their cars in the shop, but there should be something said for someone who has had their 0-mile, $44,000 vehicle, with a turbo that won't work, causing an inability to drive this vehicle that I have only had for 2 months!!!!!!! There wasn't a sorry or offer to do ANYTHING TO HELP! To hear the recording on your phone line, stating that you are Number 1 in satisfaction with customers is a BLATANT LIE to your customers! Now fast forward to the part where I get the letter for the fuses, to heat the seats, I had to have the parts department then order the parts that I was told were coming in for the car. Insert MORE wait time on behalf of the lied to customer. Once the parts are in, I finally get on the books. Mind you, no one at any point says it is going to take 3 hours to service. They mention nothing about how long it is going to take. I am going off of the description of the sales crew that it shouldn't take long to install because it is a couple of fuses. My appointment was at 9:00 a.m. I arrive at 8:40 a.m. I had a dentist appointment at 11 p.m. I should have plenty of time between 9 and 10:30 to have these fuses placed, if in fact, that were all that was going to be done in my car to have heated seats added. (Per the sales crew) The lack of communication on behalf of the service team is uncalled for, as is the miss communication between the sales and service crew. I was told at 10:15 by the service department, I had an hour left on my update to my car! To my surprise, since absolutely no one communicated ANY of this to me. I would have canceled my Dentist appointment that I was now going to miss. At no point did the service team mention to me when I dropped it off, how long the procedure would take. They never told me when I scheduled, how long it would take either. I would have made other accommodations to leave my vehicle and have a ride. I bring all of this to the attention of the service member and the lady that signs you out and neither of them said SORRY or offer any sort of explanation!!!!!! Talk about a group of insensitive people!!!! My husband calls to speak to the owner of the company to speak of our inconveniences since purchasing, to which he is transferred to 3 different voicemail boxes that are full. IMAGINE that! Can't even keep up with the calls to defend their rudeness and inability to provide the customer service they are so proud to mention they have. I absolutely will NEVER purchase another vehicle from this location and I will go OUT OF MY WAY to get services done at any other Chevrolet in the area! I see now why you all have such a LOW rating! Shame on me for giving you a chance to prove you were better than what rating you have online! And trust me I already know you don't care. To others who are looking for a good dealership, I highly recommend using someone else!!!! read more

NEVER buy a used car from Volunteer Chevorlet. We bought a 2006 Honda Accord in March. The salesman assured us this was a safe and mechanically sound car. "We could never sell anyone a piece of crap after our inspections" were his words exactly. We have driven less than 1000 miles with it and were not due for any preventitive maintenance (said the dealer). We were trying to get the engine fixed for the second time and our mechanic is telling us we need a new engine... that costs more than we bought the car for. This could have all been avoided if they checked the spark plugs before they resold the car. When we brought this to Volunteer Chevorlet's attentention two months ago, they refused to make any effort to even care about this problem. Stay away from Volunteer Chevrolet. My sister in law just purchased a used 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport with 35,125 miles on it. She was told by the salesman the asking price on this vehicle was $35.000.00 and she ended up getting it for $27,388.69, I was stunned. Come to find out through CARFAX this was a rental car out of Indiana, with an original Manufacturer,s suggested retail price of $27,450.00 new. You do the math, she traded in her 2006 PT Cruiser for $4,000.00, with a $10,000.00 cash down payment, and ended up financing $18,478.67 after all the add on's. The vehicle had only one key, no floor mats, and no owners manual. When she asked to test drive the car the salesman said she could on the lot but not the highway because it did not have tags. When she returned the next day to complain about all the road noise inside the vehicle, the service manager said the tires were out of round, which explains them not wanting her to not test drive it on the highway. She was also told by the salesman she would get a $1,500.00 discount because her husband was a Veteran, which she did not get. You can find this same vehicle on line at other local dealerships with less mileage from $18,000.00 and $20,000.00. Its a shame that this dealership is allowed to remain in business and take advantage of the elderly and Veterans. My advice to anyone is to stay away from the CON ARTIST at Volunteer Chevrolet. Shop around, get all the facts and find a reputable dealership. read more

I was recently on a family vacation in Sevierville, and my shifter cable broke in my Chevy Suburban. This was as I attempted to reach my rental cabin high in the mountains. A local tow company picked up my vehicle and told me it was going to Volunteer Chevy. I called thee next morning to get the particulars, and they'd diagnosed the issue and told me it would be a day before they could get the part. The next day they called and informed me it was ready for pickup. I had no way to get to them, and they told me to take my time and it would be there when I was ready. For someone from out of time, the extra time and effort from them was welcome. Once I arrived there was a huge monitor reminding me of a military discount! Worst service ever, they played too many games and made us come back multiple times only to find out they had another secret Fee, sometimes hundreds of dollars, that they hadn't mentioned even though we asked multiple times about the bottom line. Also a side-note, the salesman's name was Marvin, who liked to use condescending baby-talk such as "ruh roh, forgot about dat" and "I'm sowwy." We just wanted the price on the sticker, we weren't asking for anything other than that. Fuck this guy. read more

I'm a part time resident in Sevier County and have brought both my Equinox and GMC Yukon to Volunteer Chevrolet for warranty repairs and standard required service. The best I can say is whenever possible I wait until I get back here to have the service performed at Volunteer. Once when I thought the repair was simple part replacement their technician found an underlying problem causing the breakdown. They corrected the problem under warranty and provided me a vehicle while they obtained the parts. It is unrealistic to believe that all dealers will have all parts for all models. What is reasonable is that Volunteer has a system to obtain most parts in about 2-4 hours. Their technicians fixed it in less than an hour once they had the new GM parts. Given the complexity of today's vehicles their service staff are not mechanics, they are truly technicians. The amount of specialized equipment required to properly fix the new vehicles and the training required to operate it is extraordinary. When I have the choice I go to Volunteer. PS I travel over 800 miles to go to them. read more
