The service department is a rip off. Took my Pilot in to get checked out. Had the codes a needed the radio checked because it stopped playing sound. Was told diagnostic fee was $89 that they don't go by other codes their techs didn't pull. So gave her the codes we knew already so they'd know. Waited 2 hours and get called back. Tech says radio has "internal error" ... no kidding I knew that it doesn't work. Then told me they found the code I had given them for the cat error and said the tech said " internal error on cat". Are you serious?! They charged me $89 plus tax to tell me exactly what I told the service person checking me in. When I questioned she said they didn't do deep diagnostic cause I only wanted to pay one diagnostic fee then says they normally charge $89 per code, so it's not a single diagnostic fee. Imagine how many people they rip off with diagnostic fees alone! Literal waste of my time and money for nothing. read more

I would strongly caution anyone considering selling a vehicle to Rusty Wallace Honda in Knoxville. I had a family member who recently passed away, and I was trying to sell his Honda Ridgeline as part of settling his affairs. I sent this dealership detailed photos of the truck and explained my situation upfront, including that I live over an hour away and needed to make sure a trip would be worth it. We agreed on a price range over the phone based on the photos I provided. When I arrived, after driving over an hour, they suddenly claimed there were scratches and dents that weren't visible in the pictures I had already sent them, and used this as an excuse to offer me 3,000 dollars less than what we had agreed to. If they had concerns about the condition of the vehicle, they had every opportunity to raise them before I made the drive. Instead they wasted my entire day during an already difficult time. This felt like a bait and switch tactic, agree to a price to get you in the door, then lowball you once you've already committed the time and gas to show up. Do not sell a vehicle to this company or do any business with them. They are scammy and do not honor what they agree to over the phone. read more

The service department has the most grouchy, unhappy, unfriendly, unknowledgeable service advisers of any dealership I've ever dealt with! And because they are lost, under pressure, IDK, they are terrible at their job at the cost of their unknowing customers. A few years ago, I was told the fuel injectors needed to be replaced for ~$1400, the work was covered by an extended warranty so no cost out of my pocket. After getting home I decided to poke around the Honda forums and found out the injectors were faulty and Honda issued a service bulletin extending the warranty and covering cost of labor. I had to call the service manager to discuss and demand they refund the warranty company, which they did. Today I called after receiving an error message, keyless start system problem, and once again this should be covered by SB 10-117. I wanted to speak to a service adviser to ensure the part was in stock to repair but he wouldn't check, knew nothing about the SB and just told me I'd have to bring the vehicle in and see what they found. He was as abrupt has he could be without using foul language and had zero problem with me taking my business elsewhere, so I have. There are 2 other Honda dealerships to choose from so one of them will get this business as well as any future work that needs to be done. Rusty Wallace Honda needs to take a hard look at the service department and make some changes. I can't even begin to imagine how many people have been ripped off by charging for things that should be covered but they just don't care to check. read more

1) bought my car there two years ago, and the turbo has went out twice now. 2) they failed to tell me about a recall on the ac compressor and quoted me 900 I'm going to a different Honda to get it fixed for free .. 3) spoke to the manager via phone and remained polite but was seaking some kind of solution and when I got there the maintenance tech said "why would the manager want to talk to you, you're just going to end up dealing with me anyways" I don't think I've ever left a one star review anywhere, but if this will save someone 20,000 and a headache than it's worth it. read more

Fun fact, don't use the internet to get an "out the door price" because it doesn't mean anything. These people are trying to turn cars over as fast as possible and fail to get vehicles serviced and inspected PRIOR to putting them on the internet. At the end of the day, a car, I thought costs X, was not leaving the lot until I spent $3K more than the original quote due to tires that zero tread and a strut, that I discovered on a test drive, needed to be replaced, which increased the price of the car. Drove my 2016 Honda Civic from CA to TN, air conditioner worked fine. The day I got into town, it stops working. Strange, right? Well, the summer is almost upon us so I just found the closest Honda dealership, and it happened to be Rusty Wallace Honda. So I go to the service center on a Sunday, the fellow (Steve) tells me it'll be an hour or so before they can get to lookin' at my car so he has me have a seat in this comfortable waiting lounge (with free snacks!) After looking at the car, Steve lets me know my A/C has a major problem, they've gotta order a part. Car won't be ready until mid week. Not even 10 minutes later, they've got me in a loaner (2019 Honda Civic, beautiful car), and I'm out the door. Then, three days later, they call up and say "Hey, your car is fixed." I drive the loaner back, they hand me the keys to my new car, I say "How much?" They say "Nope, it's under warranty." Now THAT, is service. We'll be back. read more

Would have given this place negative stars. Worst experience ever. My wife researched a ford edge and found one she wanted at this dealership. She paid a little over 11k for the vehicle. They are super proud of their inspection but missed the fact that the ac/heat didn't work properly. They offered to fix it(as they should) and drove it to the ford dealership in dandrige, TN. A couple weeks pass and we haven't heard from them, so we called and left messages with the service department. Someone finally contacted us back and told us they had to order a part and it would take a few days to get it fixed. Heard nothing back another week later so we had to aggressively call to get someone to tell us something. They said the part was delayed for a few more days. This went on for 2 months! We had to show up in person and had to raise our voices to get someone to actually call the ford dealership to find out what was going on. Turned out they put us off on purpose for no reason. My wife got her vehicle 2 weeks later. We had put gas in it before they sent it off for service and got it back nearly empty. Fast forward a couple months when the weather started getting hot. My wife noticed the ac was acting up. We took it back to the dealership. They have had our car for almost three weeks giving us the same run around. My wife was told the vehicle would be on the lot Friday and she could pick it up. BTW, they didn't diagnose or fix anything and offer her 6k less than what she paid for the vehicle. So she is waiting to get the car and they can't find it. Now they are driving her to dandrige, TN from Knoxville so she can pick it up. There is literally no care about customer service or support from them. Once you buy something they don't want anything to do with you. They give you a runaround if they have to do something and put you off for no reason. I highly recommend going somewhere else. These people are awful. read more

I had very pleasant auto buying experience with this dealership. I started in Internet, where Gym Aycock gave me a very competitive quote ($1000 less) as compared to other dealership. I met Gym and told him that I am not ready to buy car today but need some information on their out of door prices. I been shopping around several other dealerships, and when they know you are to find out prices, their attitude becomes reluctant and start to say sticker price is their best price. Despite knowing that I am not gonna buy car that day, Gym was very enthusiastic and patient to show me all the car features, nice and long test drive and even work out the out of door price. He was not pushing at all at any point. I really appreciate their way of doing business. Other dealers started high and reduced prices with much haggling. Gym's price was low, convincing as compared to other dealers. Also, when i suggested I am looking to take loan from outside bank rather than Honda, they were totally fine with it. They did not tried to sell honda loan offers with low APR's n all. Apart from low price they offer 7 years/100,000 miles warranty for all new cars, lifetime loaner ( which is free 24 hour courtesy car ) while your car for service. I definitely recommend getting internet prices from these guys and work with Gym when you buying new cars. read more

For service, I would definitely recommend working with David H. or Chris N. A few weeks ago, the ignition switch in my 2005 Civic went out, and they were very good to me. I called a few places to check prices and get recommendations of different methods of fixing the problem. David H. was very patient with me. I probably called him about five times, talking with him about prices at other places and the methods other people wanted to use, before I eventually decided to go with Honda. David H. never tried to paint me into a corner about anything. He gave me the information he had available to him and made suggestions based on Honda practice and his personal experience (the combination of these two were invaluable). Once I had finally made my decision and took my car to then, David H. was off, and he suggested I finish up with Chris N. Chris N. was equally kind and helpful. I had been talking with them about the prices the cheaper places had quoted me, and I sincerely believe they did their best to get close. I believe the final number at Honda was about $60 more expensive than the local repair shop, plus they fixed a problem with my seatbelt buckle switch (that the other place was going to charge me $350 for) for free. I have had less successful services at this shop in the past, but I would feel confident going back to work with either David H. or Chris N. again. My wife and I were following my daughter and a friend driving from St Louis to the Smokey Mt National Park last week on Saturday, May 29th. We stopped for fuel in Nashville and 30 minutes later my daughter reported the car "would not go"while on the highway. She limped it along the shoulder to an exit. I could not find anything obvious. It seemed to have no issue after restarting it. We called Rusty Wallace Honda to see if they could look at it if we dropped it off on the way to the park. They were open late on Saturday and Sydney said we could drop it off and they would look at it on Monday. We were surprised they were open and dropped it off, and headed to the park to hike. They told me Monday they could not find anything wrong but wanted to have another tech look at it to make sure. On Wednesday I expected to be told I needed to replace something for $500 or more and would have gladly paid it. We went to pick up the car and when I asked what I owed for the time it took to check it out I was told by Jay the only payment needed was my signature (I am not making this up). The story doesn't end there....fast forward to today, Saturday, June 5. We were headed back home and during the drive my wife got a call from an 865 area code. It was Sydney. He said he was going though his notes and wanted to check to see if the car was running OK and if we made it back home!!!! My wife thanked him and told him we were on our way. First thing they ask if I had a appointment, I said no that I was told didn't have to have one. Then they tell me that they have to have a appointment to work on it. Then goes on to tell me before I do that, I need to get 4 new tires and have that aligned before binging it in. He didn''t even drive the car. Customer service here is top notch. Waiting area is nice, clean and there are free snacks. Steve Hagar was wonderful and easy to work with and helped me get the CR-V I have always wanted. There was no pressure in the whole process, even with the upsells of the extended warranties and protective finishes. I have bought 3 new Hondas now and previous dealerships push those upsells quite vigorously. Brian in the finance department was great to work with as well. I will begin by saying we did have a good purchasing experience with this dealership. The problem is 100%with the service department. They have repeatedly tried to overcharge us for oil changes, covered completely under our lease agreement. The final straw came when we brought in our recently purchased Honda, an older model for our son. The air bag light was on...we were given a quote of over $300 for seatbelt replacement. Upon a bit of research the Accord for this year was 100% lifetime warranted for all seatbelt work. We took to another dealer who very gladly offered this information and happily replaced at zero cost. Calls to the service manager were not returned. read more

So I bought one of my cars here and that experience was not bad, the issue I have with the place is the service department. For example, I came in for an oil change and the guy told me 30 to 45 minutes, I asked for a curtesy car and he told me I could only get one if I was here more than three hours, ok , that's not what they told me when I bought the car, but ok. It's now been 1 hour and 45 minutes and they are done. This is not the first bad experience I have had here and each time I don't go back for 6 months or so and it never gets better . Came in for routine service (Oil Change) with my friends' 2017 Honda Accord. It has 8200 on the odometer. After sitting in the lounge for 20-30 minutes, I was approached by an older gentleman that told me I needed a list of things. I told him if he was aware of the mileage on the car and for me this was just a little over the top for me. He tried to sell me a bunch of services and I wasn't too happy. After he left, I called my friend and she told me that this was something they've always done. I tried locating the gentleman and didn't see him at his desk, I asked one of the ladies that sit by the door and was given a rude reply that it wasn't their job to "keep up with the advisors". I took it to another place for a 2nd opinion an they told me that everything they listed off to me from Honda was perfectly fine an explained to me how they rip people off there, especially women. Also when they popped my hood the engine oil cap wasnt even on. It was unscrewed an sitting on my engine. I was lucky when i drove it to the other machanics it didnt fall off!! Pricing very high and only when another dealer made a better offer over the phone did they try to sell a car. The salesman Brian Brown was very nice but he is not the person who makes the deals or determines company practices. Use caution in dealing with this dealership.
