05AUGUST2016/2230 If you are looking for an electrician than you should read this. I retired from the military 8 mths ago after 30 yrs. of services to our great nation. I learned many things within the military and one I deeply believe in: "There is one thing we can never get back --- Time!" I purchased a home to begin a new life and my home had electrical issues. After numerous calls I finally made a few appointments. One electrician arrived with alcohol on his breath and another was two hours late. Giving him the benefit of doubt, I agreed with his estimate and set the repair date. Once again he was late...nevertheless, he lost my service. Being optimistic, I made more calls and finally ended with Volt Doctors Electrical Service and Repair and their electrician Chad (919.336.5984). From day one of the estimate through the day after the repairs Chad provided follow-up calls. Chad was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Once the he completed the repairs, I found NO trash left behind; he explained the repairs. After that one repair, I have called Volt Doctors for additional service and always had Chad as my electrician. I am a proud Veteran and I hear lots of negative feedback within our nation. I was in need of an electrician to do some serious upgrades to a 50yr old rental house I have. Storms/surges would fry electrical items of the tenants: TV, gaming systems, etc.... the original wiring was not meant to handle all the electrical goodies used these days. This was a fairly big undertaking- essentially re-wiring the whole house, new service panel, new connection to Piedmont Elect power line. It was pretty much a 2 day job- crews were courteous, on time, kept me informed of all that had to happen. After the job, I noticed a couple outlets or switches in obscure places they missed: they were out the next morning to get them replaced and even cleaned up some trash in the crawl space left by the HVAC crew that had installed new duct work a couple months earlier! Really feels good to have my property upgraded and my tenants property safe from electrical issues. Good folks, quality work. read more

A job well done! We have one outlet in the kitchen not working and I called for a diagnostic check and to find out the cause. The technician was willing to spend time in investigating the problem by testing all outlets in surrounding area and checking the wires underneath the house and in crawl space. We have decided to give the job to them. This job is to "correct" the job previously done (a month ago) by another electrician who is not professional to come back to fix the problem he created. I posted a negative review of that electrician in Yelp last week. I did not give a 5-star rating is because it took the technician much longer to locate our house which is right in town. The street name has an "e" after "Old" which I correctly gave to the person answering the phone. Suggest that the company buys a better GPS for the technician (with the capability to search by 'sound-like' street name). read more

I chose Volt Doctors because of their responsiveness to my initial call! The scheduling process was easy. I received text messages to provide updates regarding my appointment. The electrical issue was complicated due to a wiring issue that was done incorrectly by the builder. The electrician, Andy, kept me updated as he worked on my home, letting me know the challenge, the solution and outcome, so there would be no surprises. I love that Andy was neat and respectful of my home. The next day I received a follow up call from Volt Doctors to make sure everything was working properly. I thought the price was fair due to the level of complexity and the amount of time and expertise required. I would not hesitate to call Volt Doctors again. We have a new vendor in our cafe to begin serving our staff on Monday morning. The power cord to the food warmer was ripped and we could not use the equipment. Darryl not only came out on a Saturday, in the rain, but FIXED our food warmer, he also drilled a hole to hide the power cord, secured the cord with clips to the marble top and cleaned the work site up. He even asked the Chef and myself if the cord would be in the way! Amazing job! Dealing with Electricians for years at this site, they have never been as accommodating, polite, and turn key solution all in one. I cannot begin to tell you the positive change it was to have Darryl visit us today! The food warmer was fixed in a timely matter and he walked me through the invoice very thorough and detailed! Jeff came out to replace a bathroom exhaust fan. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt. I loved the convenient evening scheduling rather than taking a day off of work to sit at home in a 4 hour window waiting for someone to arrive. He even changed a light bulb in a difficult-to-reach area for free (which was difficult for me without a ladder). I considered having a kitchen light fixture replaced as well but felt the price was too expensive for such a quick job when all the wiring was already fully functional -- I recommend using Volt Doctors for more involved work, but for simple projects I'll stick to handling it on my own or using a less-expensive handyman. It'd be great if there was some type of "bundle" pricing where additional jobs are less expensive when you already have an electrician on site doing other work. read more

We have been very pleased with Volt Doctors and particularly with James F. James came out and gave us a very thorough estimate and he was very knowledgeable in all things electric. We liked the way he listened to our questions and helped us with decisions on where to place recess lighting and how many. He also replaced some existing light fixtures for us. We look forward to him returning to complete the job. The service was great, he did a good job cleaning up and made sure everything was in working condition. The first part of the work has been 5 stars. We will update this review once the work is fully finished. Update: Thanks James for your 5 star service. I was in Europe when my house was probably struck by lightening. The person staying at my house fortunately called Volt Doctors and Chad R came to the rescue. Not only was Chad polite and took the time to explain everything that was damaged or needed to be replaced, he proactively identified other electrical issues that could cause problems in the future. By the time I returned home, Chad as the primary person with assistance from Kelly and Steve had my house up and running again. I was very pleased with the work and decided to have Chad add several electrical projects. Chad is very intelligent, hard working, and easy to work with. Dwayne J Came out to the house because I had called about a AFI circuit light where my fuse kept tripping and I didnt know why. After checking all the electrical sockets on the circuit and light fixtures Dwayne recommended we change all our light bulbs to LEDs because it would not draw as much electricity as a normal bulb. He said that it looked as though there were too many connection wired into this circuit. He replaced a couple lights on the circuit with LEDs to prove his theory and recommended I change out the rest to LED and the circuit should operate normally. So far the lights have worked without tripping the circuit since he had visited. I plan on replacing all the bulb on this circuit with LED bulbs to ensure it works. read more

Brian Ellis was excellent. He was obviously experienced and an expert electrician. We had 2 issues. Our dryer was not working due to some type of electrical issue and a ceiling fan had stopped working. In quick time, Brian analyzed both issues and provided options on how to remedy the issues. He accurately and professionally resolved both our issues and provided advice on what we should expect in electrical work that may be required if we ran into a need to replace our dryer with a new dryer. Brian exceeded all of my expectations and because of him, I will not hesitate to call Volt Doctors again and hopefully he is the one the send for our service call. Top notch job!!! read more

I have used this company for several things. I had motion lights installed, ceiling fans installed and all was done in a professional and neat manner. I have also used them for repair for my air conditioning unit and Heat. I called them after hours, and the owner showed up to get me back up and running. He gave me a time frame and was there promptly. He had to follow up with some additonal repairs that were needed and again, was out there the next day of business. I would recommend Andy Clark for any and all electrical and HVAC needs. He and his team are wonderful and professional. These folks came right out when I experienced tornado damage to my home's electrical system, worked through the night to fix the problem and get my power back on. Volt Doctors went above and beyond to help my family get a serious Electrical problem fixed, WITHIN 1 DAY. The temperature was in the Teens / 20's during this problem, and my heat was affected by not having electricity. So Darryl and his team recognized my need for fast, reliable electricians to come out. We had to replace a fluorescent fixture in our pantry. We picked Volt Doctors because of the reviews and the owner is local born and raised. The technician Steve H. called in advance and was on time. We had already purchased the new fixture and when he installed it he discovered it was already faulty and made a bad hum. He pulled it back down and waited for us to return it to the store for a replacement model and then installed the new one again, and at no additional charge. He was polite and professional and did an excellent job. When your electrical is sick, we definitely recommend the doctor, the Volt Doctor. read more

Had a great experience with this group today. Great customer service. I had them come out for installation of ceiling fans and got so much more. First the tech, Steven, I will be requesting him for additional work. Really worked with me and had great ideas on additions and expansion. Second, his work was quick and sturdy. Something other providers have lacked in the past. He saw that I had a problem with my wiring on my TV and offered a great solution that only took a few minutes to resolve. James and Andy were phenomenal. James came in, accessed the issue and came up with the perfect solution where someone else had called it hopeless. He gave us a quote upfront and he and Andy also went over some other work we would like to have done and gave us the same can-do attitude. We now have a working ceiling fan and lights in our bedroom, bathroom and part of our living room plus a working breaker where we were told before it would be a major tear out and replace job. It was a pleasure working with James for having my under cabinet light replaced. I had a bit of a scheduling conflict and he worked around it with no problem. He showed up on time and explained what he was doing each step of the way. I was highly impressed with his knowledge of electrical systems. He was in an out in around 30 minutes. WOW!I don't even know where to start. Andy, Kenny and Jordon solved THE problem in less than an hour and I had 7 electricians, with a combined 200 years so they said, at my home in the span of 3 days and those "other electricians" could not find the issue! I was told by 3 of them that my home needed to be rewired! WHAT?!?! Kenny and Jordon went above and beyond their jobs and treated me like family and I couldn't be more thankful.
