Dr Vold told me I had cataracts. He recommended premium replacement lenses for me at cost $6,000 over and above what my insurance covered. I agreed and the replacement lenses were ordered and an appointment was initiated for burning my natural eye lenses out and installing these new lenses. Upon arriving for the installation appointment I was placed on gurney and Dr. Vold came in and lazered my natural lenses out. At this point all I could see was light nothing more. Now I'm left alone for over 2 hours wondering what was going on? A employee was walking by and I asked "what is going on" Why am I just laying here" She replied we are waiting for the new lenses to come up. (I was on the second floor). Another 45 minutes go by and a lady comes in and says the lenses will be here shortly. I'm thinking how long can it take someone to bring these up to the second floor. Come to find out they didn't have the lenses!!!! They were waiting for FedEx to deliver them. What if they never got there that day. I was totally blind! So the procedure was completed and the vision in my right eye was poor. I was previously seeing 20/15 out of that eye and now I'm only seeing 20/40. He ordered the wrong power lenses! Dr. Vold said no problem we will perform a PRK procedure on the eye to correct the vision in that eye. I get rescheduled 4 times for that procedure before this can be done. PRK is reshaping the outer surface of your eye. The procedure is completed and now I can see nothing but light out of this right eye! He says well it will take a while for the eye to settle down. He had broken the seal on my over 20 year old Lasik flap allowing tears to enter under the Lasik flap plus the flap was out of position from the improper PRK procedure! ! Three weeks go by with appointments every week during this three week period. I had Lasik eye surgery to correct my vision over 20 years ago which Dr. Vold was aware of from the very beginning. Now I'm told cells are growing underneath this over 20 year old Lasik flap. If left long enough the eye would lose complete vision. Now he schedules me to lift the over 20 year old flap and scrape the cells out. He performs the procedure and I can still barely see out of this eye. He sets me up for an appointment for about 2 weeks away. The appointment was on a Friday. Dr. Vold himself inspects my eye and said all of the cells under that Lasik flap are gone, It's clear! Already by then I knew I needed to see another eye doctor and a specialist! I had previously made an appointment with Dr. Langley in Tulsa for the Monday right after the Friday Dr. Vold said there are no cells under that flap but I now was seeing about 20/50. I go to my Tulsa appointment and Dr. Langley says under the Lasik flap it's loaded with cells the will destroy your eye. Dr. Langley did an emergency surgery right then and ordered a Lasik flap removal kit from his nurse. He lifts the flap and scrapes all of the cells out, finds one edge was folded over and repositions the Lasik flap correctly and pressed very hard to seal the flap down so tears wouldn't enter under that flap! He told me a corner of the flap was torn off by Dr. Vold (fortunately not in the vision area) and the flap was not positioned properly either. Followed by Dr. Vold had no business lifting a 20 year old Lasik flap. That should only be performed by a Lasik specialist with years of experience. A few months after that the retina detached in that eye because of what Dr. Vold did while installing the new lens from the cataracts he said I had. Now I'm not even sure I had cataracts at all! I contacted the medical board claiming malpractice! I was told they have had several complaints about Dr. Vold but never enough hard evidence to prove malpractice! read more

Vold vision is not the place to trust your eyes with. I had cataract surgery done there by Steven Vold. I paid the extra over $6,000 for the best lenses that would improve my near vision without wearing reading glasses. Dr. Vold installed these lenses himself. One of the lenses Dr. Vold ordered was incorrect and under corrected my right eye. On my follow up appointment he said "No Problem" I will just do a PRK procedure which resurfaces the exterior of the eye to correct your distant vision. That procedure was scheduled and then rescheduled twice. Finally I get a call scheduling the PRK procedure again for my right eye. I arrive for this PRK procedure and it is performed by one of Dr. Vold's female associates. After the procedure the sight in that eye was gone. All I saw was colored light and I was told that was normal right after the procedure. I was frightened!! My vision did not come back. I go back in a few days still without vision in that eye. I had Lasik surgery procedure on both of my eyes over 20 years prior to this procedure in another state by another doctor which had turned out perfectly and Dr. Steve Vold was made aware of that on my first cataract appointment with him and had recommended these premium $6,000 additional cost lenses. Upon my follow up appointment from this PRK procedure I see another one of Dr. Volds associates and he tells me there are cells growing under my Lasik flap in that eye which will "eat" and destroy that Lasik flap in a very short time and they need to be removed. The reason for these cells growing underneath this Lasik flap is the lasik flap seal on my eye was broken during the PRK procedure. I am then scheduled for an appointment with Dr. Steven Vold himself to scrape this cells out from under this Lasik flap. During this procedure he has two trainees observing and he lifts this over 20 year old flap, scrapes out the cells and replaces the flap over my eye. I get some vision back in that eye after this procedure but still not functional vision. He said it will take time. I'm then scheduled to see Dr. Vold the next Friday. I now have major distrust in Dr. Vold's ability regarding my eye. I make an appointment with a specialist in Tulsa Oklahoma for the following Monday. I go to my Friday appointment and see Dr. Steven Vold himself again. My vision is still almost none existent. After the examination he says everything looks good and all of those cells are gone. I then go to my Monday appointment in Tulsa 3 days later on Monday and he's says there are multiple cells underneath that flap that will destroy the flap quickly and I would be blind in that eye in a short time and then nothing could be done at that point to restore my vision in that eye. The Tulsa doctor does an emergency surgery on this eye during this appointment. I'm moved to the surgery room. He orders his assistant to go get a Lasik flap removal kit. After this procedure this specialist tells me he scraped off abundant amounts of cells that were under the flap. Furthermore the previous doctor that removed the flap (which was Steven Vold himself) misplaced the flap back on my eye as it was not put back where it was lifted from plus the flap was folded over on the edge in one spot and he tore one edge off. He said fortunately the torn off part is out of the vision area so it won't affect your vision. In closing he stated it would take a specialist to even attempt lifting a Lasik flap that is over 5 years old much less than one that was over 20 years old. He further said he had no business even trying to lift that flap. He should have sent you to a specialist plus whoever did the PRK didn't do it properly because that procedure should not break the seal on an over 20 year old Lasik flap. My vision after this specialists procedure was 20/40 due to all of the swelling and all of the mistreatment it had received. After several follow up appointments with this specialist the eye showed all cells were successfully removed and the seal of the flap was restored so tears could no longer go under the flap and start growing cells that would destroy the flap and cause blindness in that eye. In the following months my sight kept getting much better. After months my sight was 20/30. Then the retina detached in that eye from how the new lens during the cataract surgery had previously been preformed by Vold and needed to be reattached. During that procedure the left was examined and showed the retina in my left eye was also ready to detach as well as a result of the cataract surgery. In closing Dr. Steven Vold is a Glaucoma specialist and should not be performing any other eye services other than for Glaucoma patients. Without the Tulsa eye specialist I would be blind in my right eye under Dr. Steven Vold's care plus he lied to me saying there were no cells under the flap after he removed the flap and scrapped them away. I called the appointment number listed for the Bentonville business because I had an eye that was swollen and red and I wanted the doctor to take a look at it. I had to leave a message, because no one answers the phone, and explained my symptoms. It took 24 hrs for a return call and then an appointment wasn't available until 3 bus. days later. Unbelievable! This was not an eye exam for glasses, it is someone with an issue with their vision. Not helpful at all. I would not recommend going here. read more
