I recently dined at Volcano Hot Pot & BBQ and had a great experience overall. The concept is fun and interactive -- you get to choose your own ingredients and cook everything right at the table, which makes it perfect for groups or a casual night out. The variety of food was impressive. There were plenty of fresh meats, seafood, vegetables, and sauces to choose from, and I really enjoyed being able to customize my hot pot broth and BBQ flavors. Everything tasted fresh, and once cooked properly, the food was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, especially when explaining how the hot pot and grill worked. The restaurant itself was clean, lively, and had a nice atmosphere without feeling overwhelming. The only downside is they give you a time frame to eat your food -- , especially since you're cooking the food yourself. It's worth it if you come hungry and plan to try a little of everything, but maybe not ideal for a light meal. Overall, I'd definitely come back. It's a fun, flavorful experience and a great spot for social dining if you enjoy hot pot and BBQ.

Best hot pot restaurant in Broward! Located in a busy shopping center, Volcano is hidden behind several chain restaurants. Upon walking in, the interior is bright, clean, and updated. Once seated, your table can choose to have hot pot, KBBQ, or both. We only got hot pot, as cooking both is overstimulating and chaotic. They have more broth options than competitors, including Korean seafood and tom yum, and you can control the spice level. You get your sauce and ingredients at a large buffet bar. They had a variety of quality meats, including beef tongue, fatty beef, etc. My favorite is their wide assortment of vegetables-- you can tell a hot pot place is high quality when they offer unlimited snow pea sprouts! Another favorite is the fried tofu skin, which soaks up all the broth. Because you go up and grab your own ingredients, there is no need to wait for a waiter or conveyor belt. As for the service, our waiter was funny, lively, and frequently checked up on us. Although it is a pricey dinner (slightly under $35 per person without tax/tip), it is AYCE.

So excited to have found this place. So many delicious meats, mushrooms, and seafood to try I couldn't try it all in one trip. We got both the hot pot and the kbbq (seems like the best way to do it). I got the Szechuan broth spicy and it certainly was spicy , I might go down a notch next time. My one real complaint was they have Pepsi products, but that's not a huge deal. We'll definitely be back for more!

Guys run don't walk here!!! Our waiter was Richard! He was awesome! He worked his a** off. He was attentive and super nice. The restaurant set up is cute. It's bright and spacious. We ordered both hot pot and bbq. There's a huge selection of meats and veggies to choose from. Several different kinds of noodles and a few hot food items like wings and spring rolls. $37 for all you can eat steak, veggies and seafood. You can't beat that!

Not my favorite hot pot. The spicy hot pot had about 15-20 dried peppers which made it impossible to fish out the items I was cooking. I had to pick them out in order to find the items I was cooking. The complimentary rice was old. The meat was really bad quality. It was mushy and gritty when cooked. The sauce bar had the sauces lined up one in front of the other so ppl were dropping sauces in other sauces and cilantro / onion in other sauces. It should be either horizontal or staggered. Could've had more variety of items.

We ate at the Volcano Hot Pot & BBQ on a Sunday evening in the earlier hours for dinner and were greeted warmly at the host stand and seated immediately at a table and Mateo our server came by and greeted us and gave us an overview of the restaurant for our first visit. On weekends you have a max time limit of 90 minutes with weekdays at 2 hours. It's plenty of time and we had plenty of time leftover. You can opt for hot pot or BBQ or both (it's only $5 difference in price to do both). We ordered a bottle of wine for $25 and went by to figure out the buffet line setup. You can start on the back wall with light salad and appetizers and then select a few different hot pot mix in items as you start to eat the main entrees. Only get a few things at a time as you figure out what you do and don't like because they charge you for excess food waste (charge per pound). We didn't have any issue with this but I could see this being an issue if you have a huge plate of raw meat on your table and don't use it. All food quality was really good and all of the meat was really tasty and fresh. Also the buffet was so clean and presented nicely and the staff was always tending to it and cleaning up. It was an amazing experience and staff were all so nice. We look forward to returning!

Man, what a place. Friendly wait staff, endless buffet options and it was clean. I'll be back. I got the all you can eat hotpot/korean bbq option and it was great. My pictures speak for themselves.

From the moment we walked in, a robot host escorted us to our table such a fun touch! Our waitress Carolina was great! We chose our base soups, then explored the buffet to pick all the fresh toppings we wanted to add to our ramen. Everything was clean, well-stocked, and super flavorful. We also got passion fruit margaritas, which were amazing and went perfectly with the meal. It was a really fun, interactive experience great for a casual dinner or a unique night out. Highly recommend if you're looking for something different and delicious in Fort Lauderdale!

I'd read about this place when it opened a while ago. We decided to try it the other evening. It was really good. This is a hot pot and BBQ restaurant. Every table has a heating element for the BBQ experience and individual heaters for the hot pots. We chose hot pot. In many hot pot restaurants, you choose the type of soup and the stuff you want - meats, vegetables, and more. Here there is a long buffet area where you choose whatever it is you want to emerse into the soup. I chose mostly seafood and vegetables though a large variety of meats were available. It was all delicious. Alex our waiter was most helpful in explaining how the system worked, in refilling our water, and just chatting. If you have room fresh fruit, some cakes and ice cream is available.

Came to try out this location since we've only been to the one in Orlando. When we came in we weren't greeted, not even a smile and we were seated. We ordered our soup bases and went to grab food. There were a lot of different options to choose from for hot pot and bbq. Some of the stuff however were not to our liking in the bbq meats. The seasoning for some of the meats were too strong and overpowering our pallets. Our service was also not that great. Our service didn't turn out the grill for us so we had to figure out how to do. We couldn't ask her either cause she took a long time to come to when we needed something. We waited about 10 minutes to get a refill on our drink. Overall, our experience was okay. The Orlando location is better than this one.

Came back the second time to bring more kids. This time 2 11 yrs old and 8 yrs old and soon to be 3 yrs old. I was charged $21.99 for my 3 yrs old who shared my hotpot and grill which he only ate a pack of noodle, ice cream and 3 nuggets. I am really confused on the 3 yrs old being charge that price. We had a great server.

Located in the Oakwood Plaza in Hollywood, where the old Sweet Tomatoes was homed, Volcano Hot Pot & Korean BBQ has lots of parking. The restaurant is bright and clean and modern. You can have a hot pot meal or a BBQ grill meal for about $33 each or get both for about $38. You have 90 minutes to eat (and cook) as much as you want. We opted for the hot pot only, because we recently had Korean BBQ and wanted the hot pot experience. Whether doing hot pot or the BBQ grill, you fetch your own ingredients from a buffet. I liked that. You're not waiting for items to be brought to you. Of course, you are warned not to overstock your plates because there could be a surcharge for too much leftover food. But it is easy enough to pace yourself. And what an array of offerings. Lots of red meat, tons of veggies, and a plethora of seafood (my favorite). There are dumplings and yams and mushrooms. There is also an area with salads (the seaweed and radish salads were my favorites). There are cooked offerings, including spring rolls, potatoes, and fried chicken wings (which were delicious and had a slight curry flavor). You choose your soup base and the pot is placed on the burner for you. You get your ingredients, cook, and then eat. Of the three we tried, we loved the Thai curry soup base and the Korean Seafood. The latter being our top choice. I overdosed on seafood: shrimp, squid, crab, scallops, lobster balls. I also had dumplings, yams, and two kinds of mushrooms, as well as quail eggs. While my food cooked in a curry broth I feasted on seaweed, a radish salad, and a curried chicken wing. If you still have room, there is a small selection of desserts. It is nothing spectacular. But the oranges were the juiciest, and there are three flavors of ice cream available in individual cups. The chocolate ice cream paired nicely with some lychee. The meal cost about $43 each, including tax and tip. And I think it was well worth it for the top-notch food we ate. Our server, Richard, was very congenial and helpful. And when my husband didn't like his soup base (pork bone), Richard gladly switched it. There is no doubt about it. We will be back and plan to introduce the place to some friends.

I discovered Volcano Hot Pot on a whim one day and it probably changed the trajectory of my life. I've been back numerous times and each time I've gone, it's been fantastic. This last time I went (on Halloween) I finally remembered to take a photo (albeit, not a good one). I almost don't want to tell the rest of the world about Volcano because it's a special spot. Go hungry, be brave. Try different things, make a yummy sauce to dip it all in. But don't overdo it (no food waste lol). Go to Volcano Hot Pot once and you'll be back.

It is great. Love the hot pot. In fact, I would just go for the hot pod. The bbq is not bad but nothing to write home about.

I was excited to see they had Neapolitan pizza - my absolute favorite. When done right, I can legitimately eat it everyday. It was also a Wednesday and they have "Weiner Wednesday" - all beef hot dogs with various toppings. We ordered the Margherita pizza, with a side of prosciutto and extra basil, a char and cup pepperoni pizza and two hot dogs - one regular and one cheese and beef. I also ordered two flights and tried the majority of the lighter beers and IPAs. I liked all the beers except for the vanilla sundae IPA...that was an interesting concept but a bit too sweet for me. The Pilsner was my favorite - super crisps and delicious. The staff were super nice and attentive and the decor is fun with a lot of string lights. The pizza was delicious- I am so picky about pizza and it was so good. I wasn't expecting a brewery to have legit Neapolitan pizza but they did. The hot dogs were tasty took on a sesame hot dog but which I thought was a nice touch. The only thing I wish they'd done differently was toast the hot dog bun. It got a bit soggy while I was eating due to the toppings. This is a popular brewery but it still felt really chill. Bathrooms were clean and kept up. Honestly would be here all the time if I lived in this area. Very highly recommend!

The beer selection is seriously impressive. I tried two different IPAs and both were amazing--super flavorful and paired perfectly with the food. They also have a huge variety of sours and other options, so there's something for everyone. Now the food... next level. The pepperoni pizza was easily some of the best I've ever had--crispy, flavorful, and just done right. We also got their most popular wings (can't remember the name, but trust me, you'll know them when you see them), and they were incredible. The flavor was super unique and honestly unlike anything I've had before. We finished with the pretzel bites and cheese, and even that stood out--the cheese sauce had a different twist that made it way more interesting than your typical version. If I had more room, I would've ordered even more because everything was that good. Hands down one of my favorite spots we hit while visiting Florida, and I'll definitely be back. Highly recommend checking them out.

I've lived in Hollywood for over 25 years and have visited Boston Johnny's several times throughout…read morethe years, hoping it would become my "local" spot. I actually stopped going for a while due to consistently poor service, but a few weeks ago I decided to bring some friends and give it another try. Unfortunately, it was the same disappointing experience. The bartender truly sets the tone for a place -- and in this case, it completely missed the mark. We were ignored until we flagged her down to place our food and drink order, despite there only being a handful of people there. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt and assume she was having an off day. It didn't improve. My friend ordered a simple tap beer and didn't receive it until halfway through her meal -- with no apology. It felt like pouring a draft beer was an inconvenience. To make matters worse, I handed the bartender $40 to cover a $15 tab, and she kept the change without clarification. We were also charged for drinks we never ordered or received, so definitely review your bill carefully. Another surprise: if you want lettuce, tomato, or onion on your burger, each item costs an additional $1. That felt excessive for basic toppings. The most concerning part? There was a cat walking across the bar and around the food service area. I love animals, but that's simply not appropriate in a food establishment. It's unfortunate because Boston Johnny's has the potential to be a fun local spot. However, the atmosphere feels unwelcoming and careless. I gave it three or four chances before writing this review, and the experience was consistently the same. I hope ownership takes notice before more locals decide not to return. We won't be back.
