Annoying, persistent door to door sales. They rang my doorbell 3x Wednesday, 3x Thursday, and 2x Friday. They even ring it super late at night. See attached photo with time stamps of 9:00pm. I was genuinely excited to move forward with Vivint and have a home security system installed at my personal residence. Unfortunately, that excitement quickly turned into disappointment due to misleading information, unexpected fees, and poor follow-through from customer support. My original quoted price and equipment package changed the moment the technician arrived for installation. On top of that, I was informed of additional fees that were never disclosed upfront--including an extra monthly charge for DVR services that had not been mentioned at any point prior. I was led to believe I was getting a complete system at the agreed-upon price, and that simply was not the case. Despite this, I gave Vivint a second chance. After speaking with multiple managers and account representatives, I specifically requested a clear, itemized breakdown of all equipment and costs before proceeding again. I was told this would be sent to me. It never was. Follow-up messages were left on read, with no response. That lack of transparency and accountability sealed the deal for me. If this is the level of communication and customer service provided before installation, I have serious concerns about what support would look like afterward--especially when it comes to something as important as home security! We've been loyal customers with Vivint for more than 10 years. Recently our door camera has become inoperable due to the mount needing to be replaced. The first time we called about the issue the solution was to send out a screw. The second time we continuously mentioned needing a new mount but because the doorbell camera is now obsolete they are demanding we replace it at our expense even though we carry protection coverage. Over 45 minutes back and fourth, being places on hold, then transferred to the loyalty department to only be hung up on because we don't believe we should have to purchase an updated version. They refused to honor the protection plan we pay for monthly because our current equipment is now considered obsolete. read more

Buyer Beware! Vivint does not stand by their equipment or service!!! We were conned by. Vivint door to door salesman 6 months ago and we've had nothing but trouble since. We spent well over $5000 on equipment and service to get started. 3 months later we needed technical service due to a faulty front door sensor. I called Vivint customer service. Customer service walked me through a troubleshooting process. The troubleshooting process didn't work. They offered to send a technician to repair the issue if I was willing pay a really high service tech fee. So now the $5000 Vivint security system that I bought to provide safety for my family and home won't arm most of the time, and my front door shows as open most of the time. As a current vivint customer I don't recommend them and as a matter of fact IMO any $300 to $400 system purchased at Amazon will give you the same features at a fraction of the cost! It is so odd reading these reviews. I have had numerous other alarm systems in the past and they are terrific. ADT was still in the 19th century with its products and services. There was none. You had to have someone walk you through how to DIY troubleshooting to no avail and then they charged a fortune to have someone come out. Xfinity was unreliable because unless you have strong internet and not a lot of things connected to it, it works. If however, you have multiple items using the internet e.g. TV, computer, phone, Alexa etc. The signal is weak. With Vivint, I have not had any problems, I love how I can see a video of someone pulling in my driveway. At night the lights on the camera go on and a sensor beeps while it is recording. It saves the video for 30 days and you can download it if you need to. I think people need to be there when it is installed to make sure of placement for inside and outside cameras. I'm not sure I understand the comments about wiring as the only wires that I have are for the outdoor cameras and the doorbell. It would be the same with any other company. As for the technicians, you can ask for an experienced installer. However, I have had a much worse experience with Comcast/xfinity installers. read more

Don't ever use Vivint! I am making sure that this goes to every social media outlet. I have been under contract with Vivint for 5 years and the service is terrible. The cameras hardly work ( they want you to upgrade) they want to charge you a $100 fee if they have to come fix a camera. I just tried to cancel my service and I was on the phone with Manela to cancel service. I was on the phone with her for 25 minutes and she would not cancel the service. She kept badgering me and kept trying to get me to extend my contract! I told her not to make me another offer just to cancel the service. She kept on and on and would not cancel the service. I was so pissed off and after all of that time she said I was rude and she ended the call. I called back and spoke to someone else. They did the same thing and then insisted that I owe them more money.....WHICH I DO NOT!! I stopped payment on it 3 days ago because I wanted to cancel. They still will not let us cancel!!! Well I guess I should have looked here before giving these con-artists my business! Well I'll add some color to these lames... 1. This company is deceitful. They totally got me in communicating the contract terms. They told me that I could finance the equipment for 60 months, but only have a 36 service contract, with the understanding that if/when I stopped service I would need to pay off the equipment. I agreed to that, but they snuck in that 60 month term and I didn't catch it. Now of course they wont honor it. 2. Their equipment is HORRIBLE! I had to replace my thermostats, yes both, after they died. Of course just after my year warranty expired! Their cameras (yes it is their best) don't work. I can walk to my car, get in and drive away for hours, come back and the camera will show that I never left (yes the settings are right on the cameras). Of course, its going to cost me money for them to come out and fix it. 3. They are dangerous, creating a false sense of security for my family. It's better to have no security at all! I've had vivint about 3 months now after my brother signed up and referred me to them. ADT was my previous provider, and vivint is a little more per month but for good reason. The sales rep and the technician were very professional and knowledgeable. I was paying $59 with ADT and just had basic security. Currently paying $69 with vivint but I have a full Smart Home (Smart locks, smart thermostat, and a garage controller) w a doorbell camera. The main reason I switched was because of their control panel, completely cellular connection and a faster response with their two way voice speaker so they can verify the emergency right away rather than calling me to verify. Awful company. They sent unqualified installers to my house. The technician drilled a hole through my water drain line in wall and water leaked into my wood floors damaging them. They have agreed to pay for wood floors, but while floors are being fixed all my furniture has to be removed from the first floor. Also will make my house unlivable for around 7 days. They won't pay for a place to put my furniture. They also told me it's not their problem on where me and my dog live for the week. That isn't considered damage. I tried to explain it's a result from the damage. I have no family in area so now I have to try and get vacation from work and travel with my dog to nearest family member's house in Florida. I am in the military and don't even know if vacation is possible for a whole week. They also have made me do all the coordination for repairs. Eating up what little time I have in my daily schedule. I have contacted a lawyer to see my options and awaiting to hear what they say. Just adding more stress to an already stressful situation. My floors were only 6 years old and I really liked them. Stay away from this company. I got a system from them and financed it to get a discount on the equipment. A couple weeks later I get a call from them telling me my payment is over due, to the amount of $2400.00. I explain to them that I financed the system and it should be a total of $63.00/month. They agree with me, say they see that and apologize. They let me know they will submit this to be fixed. The following Monday I call them. They assure me they will be fixing this, it usually takes a few days. A few days later I get another call, same, same. Again they apologize and tell me they are fixing it. I call them back one more time a few days later and they assure me it's getting fixed and not to worry about it. Monday before Thanksgiving, I get an email stating my auto bill will be billed $23.00 on Tuesday. Tuesday before Thanksgiving, I get a bad feeling and check my bank account, $2400.00 has been removed from my account by Vivint. I call them, they go into apology mode, they see that this should have been taken care of, they will refund my account. I have literally nothing for Thanksgiving now because I have other bills coming due next week. They assure me it will be refunded. Wednesday before Thanksgiving, no refund. Again they are so sorry, they will get it in. At this point I have to call my family and basically cancel Thanksgiving. Friday still no refund so I can't grab any of the sales I was planning for Black Friday. Monday I call them. They tell me they issued it as a credit, not a refund. I go off. They start apologizing again, telling me they are going to fix this. I have just enough to cover my mortgage on Wednesday at this point, but nothing else. They tell me they are going to over night me a check and it will be at my door by noon Tuesday (tomorrow). Tuesday, no check. I call back this time the person tells me that yes, a check has been created but it takes them 7 - 14 days to overnight a check. Needless to say, I lose it. Then the person starts very condescendingly explaining to me how to go to the mailbox and check my mail, asking me if I understand how the mail works. I was able to call the bank and delay my mortgage payment a few days, until my paycheck goes in. My entire vacation and Thanksgiving was ruined by Vivint. I keep enough that I can cover minor emergencies, but $2400.00 is a big hit. Vivint didn't care at all, I was never able to talk to anyone on the executive level to get this taken care of, I was never able to even get out of a overseas call center. We had a really bad experience with Vivint. I'm writing this review to first explain what happened to us, and to hopefully provide some clarity on the cancellation process for anyone else who would like to cancel within their 3 day cancellation window. Also to note, our experience happened during the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. Two sales reps from Vivint started going door to door in our neighborhood about a week after a string of several car burglaries. They were not wearing any kind of protective equipment like a mask or gloves, and said that the deal they were offering was only good in person, so if we didn't let them come in and talk to us right then, we wouldn't have been eligible for the deal. The "deal" they were offering was to have Vivint "pay" for the equipment, so we would only be paying for the installation. What was NOT explained to us was that we would be taking out a loan and paying off our equipment. We were also advised that an alarm permit might be necessary in our neighborhood, but we shouldn't file for one until after our alarm was triggered, and then claim that we didn't know we needed a permit. It took the representative an HOUR to get our account set up because of something wrong on their end. The person who came to install the system also did not wear any PPE even though we were told they would. He also had an issue getting their system online and argued on the phone with someone for about 30 minutes trying to finish getting the system set up. After the installation, we came to understand that we had taken out a loan, which was a huge deal breaker for us, and we also realized how much Vivint was overcharging for their equipment. Their equipment coast about $2,500, while the exact same equipment from a competitor only cost $700. Vivint offers a three day cancellation period after your installation because they are LEGALLY required to. After this, you are locked in to your contract and the only way to get out is to pay off all the equipment. Vivint does NOT make it easy to cancel. We called three time to try to find out who we had to send our notice of cancellation to and we were either put on endless hold or actually hung up on. (If you want to cancel your service with Vivint and are within your three day window, email a copy of your Notice of Cancellation to documents@vivint.com.) After we sent in our notice of cancellation, we received a generic email back stating someone would reach out to us. After a week, we hadn't heard anything from Vivint, until we got an email stating they had attempted "several times" to contact us, and since we hadn't responded, we now owed them the who $2,500. Looking back, we realized we had received ONE phone call from Vivint, and when we answered, the person on the other line didn't say anything, we after a few minutes of trying to get a response from the other end, we hung up. I immediately called someone in customer service, who said that we could not cancel since at this point we were outside of our three days, and I had to argue with him until he looked through our file and eventually found that we HAD submitted our notice of cancellation in time. His system booted him out halfway through the process of him cancelling our account, and he had to do everything again. The technician who came to uninstall our system was 45 minutes late. Again, he wasn't wearing any PPE even though we were specifically told he would be. He did not put our doorbell back together, so we had to do that on our own, and he also left the Vivint sign sitting in our yard. I know this is a really long review, but there were so many issues throughout our entire process, and I want to be thorough so others who have this experience know they aren't alone, and hopefully the company can address some of these internal issues. Everyone we interacted with was extremely unprofessional, the sale representatives manipulated us and were not honest about the services, and we were almost locked in to the contract because of a lack of transparency on how to cancel services. Horrible I've paid and paid I can't get anyone to come out The cameras only seem to last 1 year I made them come out by threatening to leave them because we were going away for three months. They were to install another camera and check all cameras replace one and make sure weld be secure. Two weeks gone and the panel battery needs to be replaced. It says the panel is malfunctioning. The alarm has gone off twice and police dispatched. My inside camera is flashing like a disco light. I will be discontinuing the service as soon as we get home read more

A Vivent salesman came to my door and I politely told him I wasn't interested. He came back later and I pointed out he'd already been by and I pointed out our neighborhood was posted no soliciting. Later, after dark, I saw someone skulking beside my neighbor's house. I confronted him and it was the same salesman. I told him again he couldn't solicit and asked him to leave. He said he was licensed to be there and go door to door. I called his bluff and explained I had been a police officer and no license permitted him to break the law. He said EVERYONE had told him he couldn't be there, but he still kept going. I saw another salesman on the next street over and neither wore a mask or attempted to social distance. I wish I didn't sign up with this company. Vivint sales guy showed up at my house at the beginning of the pandemic with no mask on although my door has a "No Soliciting" sign on it and talks me into signing up. The biggest mistake I've made EVER. I was told that I could cancel anytime before 3 days if I wasn't happy with the service. I tried to cancel after they installed it on the day of. I had xfinity Home Security at the time also. I told the salesman that I wasn't going to cancel that until I knew that I was satisfied with Vivint's service. The install guys cut all of my other cameras cables and put Vivint's in those locations. 6 cameras cables cut for no reason. So then I called the salesman to ask him about it since he said to call him if I were to have any issues. But instead of trying to rectify the situation he made up some excuse for his install guys. So since right at the beginning I can tell that this isn't gonna work out. I tell the salesman that I'd like to cancel the service. This is on the same day as the install. He tells me I have to call the customer service number. EVERY TIME I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER AND EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THAT I WAS CHOOSING TO CANCEL THEIR SERVICES BEFORE THE 3 DAY THING WAS UP, THEN THEY WOULD JUST HANG UP ON ME. So the 3 days pass and I'm now stuck in this terrible contract for 5 years. My doorbell camera, my wireless door lock, my garage door opener stopped working within the 1st 4 months. They tell me that "they can't send someone out to fix/replace this stuff because of covid. But yet they didn't seem to have a problem doing it when everything was shut down because of it. It took 6 months for me to get a what they call reimbursement for my xfinity cameras. Which they only paid $100 total for all 6 of them. I can only replace one for that. The quality of the vivint cameras is terrible. Every time a car drives by the cameras in the front freeze. So I got some extra money and I decided to call Vivint to see how much it would be to just pay the penalty and the rest of the contract so I wouldn't have to keep dealing with this company. I had Vivint for 10 years but cancelled in 2017 because of rate too high compared to others. Then today (9/14/21) the panel starts beeping ever minute or so. Called to find out how to stop. Was in middle of call when got disconnected (giving benefit of doubt that I was hung up on). Waited for her to call me back as had given home & cell #s to her & she had repeated them back to me. Listen to this load of business bad practice! So the previous homeowner (bless her heart) had Vivint home security installed 2 years ago. They had her take out a loan for the equipment of which she still had $800 to pay off when I bought the house. She paid off the loan and authorized a "takeover" for me to take over the account. So, I've been calling since we moved in. Usually 2-3 times per week. First CSR told me it could be done right away and he'd call me that Friday. (That was first week I was here) Next CSR told me they had no record of that convo. Next CSR told me they would process the Takeover and I'd receive a call. (No call). Next CSR told me Takeover not processed. She "processed" it and said I needed to pay for tech visit. Oh! Did I mention first CSR said tech visit would be over the phone and no cost. He just said it would take about an hour. I escalated and she got a free in person tech visit. OR DID SHE?!? She said they would be in touch in next few days. That was last week. Today I decided it was Groundhog Day and time to irritate myself. I called Vivint. Takeover not processed and this time they say it is not complete until tech visit. The last few reps said takeover had to be processed before tech call or visit. This CSR tonight, like the last said she'd escalate and call tech scheduling. While on hold I decided to read Yelp reviews. You see, I knew this was a less than stellar company after seeing them on #undercoverboss so with my free time on hold yet again I decided to read more. By the time the CSR came back I asked her about canceling the service all together and told her why. She said that it is still under contract for 3 MORE YEARS and to cancel the entire amount would have to be paid in full! I told her that there is NO WAY I'm taking this on when they can't even process an order to LET ME TAKE IT ON!!! If I could give zero stars, I would - just based on the hard up-sale they did when trying to cancel. Beware of the contract and you have to give a 30 day written notice of cancellation, which is not the problem - the problem is the account manager that asked me over and over and over about renewing the service for $10 off a month for 6 months (definitely not worth locking into another contract with these people!) and he would not take no for an answer. I had to stay on the line with him and repeat myself over and over and over because he could not disable the system either and had to transfer me to someone else! Be sure to call them back and make sure they read the cancel date back to you. You will have to disable your own system as they guide you through it and then be prepared for more calls that someone tapered with your system. The worst customer service. Never again! read more

To whom it may concern: I called to set up service for home security over a week ago. I took off of work to be here for the installation. I understand things happen but I feel your policy needs to be changed in events such as mine. I was called at 8:06 am to be informed my tech was in the hospital. I called back after 9 am central time and was told a message was sent to have someone come out but "just in case" I would be scheduled for the next available date on 2/27. I was also told to cancel my electrician for the door bell camera because there was a new way to wire the doorbell. After calling back I was told the notes said I called to confirm the 2/27 date and there was never a ticket put in to have someone come out today, 2/15. It seems to me at the time you all were notified of your techs hospitalization someone else should have been disbatched to my home. I called again and was told more than likely no one will come out today but I'm in the queue for an earlier installation date. It is unacceptable that I have signed a contract, paid the first month, lost money because I'm missing work and your company will not go above and beyond to make sure my services are installed today. I was lied to by the first tech and I'm not receiving the services I expected. To make things right I would appreciate you having someone come out this evening because although you will comp me a month of service I'm not getting back wages lost or time wasted. read more

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR VIVINT SERVICES. it has been a nightmare with Vivint. There's so much information they DO NOT tell you when you are signing up. Where do I begin. Anytime you need to troubleshoot issues with your system you have to spend hours troubleshooting on your own before they will send a tech out and you better pray they will not charge you for said tech. You will have to troubleshoot the devices in the ceiling of your garage so make sure you have a ladder handy. If you cancel your services then that 2k or more you spent on their equipment goes bye bye as well. You can no longer use your smart home devices remotely. Only by the panel now. So no more opening your garage or doors while away. No more alerts on your phone or able to talk through the doorbell when someone is at your door. Which they don't tell you that either when you are canceling. I went a month with my system not functioning properly which led me to canceling my services and now I can't even use an app to see my doorbell camera. I am so disappointed with Vivint. Please save your money and yourself the headache and go with a different company. I sure wish I had. I will be telling everyone I come into contact with to not go with Vivint. We were initially pleased with Vivint and thought everything was going great when we ordered our system over the phone. When the installer came to put our equipment in, he told me to "forget everything the salesman on the phone told you." He said they work on a points system. He then tried to upsell me on the equipment to the tune of $500. After we worked that out (we did not buy the extra and ended up feeling like we didn't get what we really wanted), the problems really began. They have been taking money out of our account systematically for things we didn't purchase (you have no choice but to do an automatic debit for monthly payments so they have access to your money). We want out! I feel like we have been deceived! In the span of 12 days, they took money out of our account that adds up to more than $300! And this is not the first time this has happened.
