I still have faulty equipment, have had SEVERAL service calls, and still have 3 ongoing issues that I've had since the start of my contract, yet I am paying for a service that isn't doing what it is supposed to do: provide security. My installer was rude and negative to all my concerns. After I ordered an additional $450 camera/floodlight from ADT, it was up to me to have an electrician wire and install a mounting bracket for it. After this was completed I made an appointment to have ADT adjust the camera and incorporate it into my system. On the day of the appointment no one showed up and I was informed that someone at ADT, without a call, a message or an email, CANCELLED the appointment. Im sure it was my original installer whom I requested not be the one to come to my home again. Customer service did not care and refused to help me!!! read more

FYI; if you need help with anything you call into a 800 number and get lost in transfer hell. our service was activated for 1.5 years and only worked for ONE MONTH. they never fixed the issue even though I called them once a month. And by the way, they charge you for every service appointment even though it is their equipment that is broken. finally, we are moving and so I cancel the service and it took 3 hours of being transferred to 6 different people who had no idea I was transferred. I had to tell the story over and over. it is the most infuriating experience with a company I have ever had. in order to cancel I was told it would be $2k. which is ridiculous. when the service was finally cancelled I received a bill for $3400. I will never use ADT security ever again. (1) My different entry tabs stopped working and they never emailed or called to tell or instructed how to replace. (2) Quitting ADT is worse than quitting the gym. You have to wait on hold about 90 minutes. If you want to transfer service they answer right away. (3) They are also very expensive $ about double what other services offer for the same type of system. I had ADT at my former residence. When I moved I was informed that I still had 36 months left on my contract. They very "graciously" said that if I got a system for my new apartment then they would cancel the old agreement. Not only that, I was told that I could cancel at ANY time! Today, 18 mos later, I find I am on the hook for $800 If I cancel. I also learned that my system only works on 2.4 ghs. I have a 5 ghs. Internet system. They will credit me one month while I change my internet provider! If I upgrade my security system I'm on the hook for another 3 years. I have 30 days to decide if I like the system. If I don't then they will cancel THAT contract and reinstate the previous contract. They have such a racket going on I hope that they will be stopped! read more

We tried to have them out to hook up an existing system. We were told we would get a call or text and it would narrow down the time so we could be there. The call or text never came so we left for a few minutes and called ADT to tell them we would be right back. The tech came to our home and once he saw no one there he left. Next they said he would be back so we waited 2 hours and he never came. We talked to ADT 3 times about it and haven't gotten an apology or anything. We drove 4 hours to meet them and got no text or call. If the tech would have taken a moment to text or call us he would have known we were very close and coming back. If he would have called in to ADT he would also have known this. How can we count on ADT to do a good job of monitoring if they can't even communicate with a tech? I spoke to a manager who later said they would look into it and if we called back we could set it up again. I explained if they care so little as to not call us back to make it right we wouldn't be calling. So far crickets. I have been an ADT customer for 8 years. We would have told you we were happy with them until we moved homes and into a rental home. They came out and told us that 'because you are such a valued, long term customer, we are upgrading your system at no cost'. Leary, I questioned them, knowing nothing is for 'free'. They went on and on, assuring me this is how they take care of their customers who have been with them a number of years. I explained to them it was a rental, not our home and we didn't need it as we were only in it a year max. After a lot of assurance and conversations they did upgrade the system. Fast forward- 8 months later we move out of the home into our beautiful home with Vivint alarm system already installed. When we called to cancel the rental, they slapped us with an $800 bill for 'breaking a 3 year contract'. WHAT CONTRACT?? 3 years? Why would I ever sign up for a 3 year contract in a 1 year rental? I was sold something I never needed and was LIED to. Fast forward another 6 months. I have spent over 7 hours on the phone with ADT to which they even told me they agreed with me and found a way to just disregard the bill, wipe the slate clean and no more concerns. After much relief at the fact they did the right thing, it wasn't one month later I started receiving bills again. I was told they messed up and couldn't do it after all. I own a business. If my employees had it documented in the file (which they showed me), I would have to eat the cost, regardless. I would never go back to a customer after we told them something. Our mistake. We eat the cost. I have emailed, called and since written a multi page letter to headquarters- they say we are a 'valued' customer, but they demand payment and admit no wrong doing. Just beware. You're dealing with a large company where you are not valued for your business or loyalty. They will pass you from person to person on the phone and never 'hear' you. It's just a process and you are just a number to them. No responsibility, no apologies for being sold something i never needed, no apologies for being lied to. I will pay the bill before they wreck our credit, but rest assured I will never be doing business with their un-ethical company again----- And hope you won't either. My husband got orders to deploy and I wanted to move back home but ADT is making us pay the cancellation fee still. How are you going to hear my husband is deploying and pretty much say F-U we still want our money. So now I get to stay alone with no family around because you don't want to waive the fee for us and we can't afford to pay the cancellation fee. ADT has become a predatory service that makes its money by having under-trained technicians install faulty and outdated equipment and then locking you into a contract for THREE years. No chance to cancel no matter what happens in your life (I had a traumatic brain injury and had a loss of revenue that meant I had to cut expenses. They had no concern for that.) There are so many better options for security that dont require contracts. ADT makes more money off of collections and sending there techs back out to your house to half-ass fix their shoddy installment than from actual customers. ADT is a part of my insurance companies Perk Programs, but ADT is not a perk, it's an abomination. No matter the problem you call with it's ALWAYS the fault of your WiFi that they will happily fix by selling you a Wifi booster. It's our WiFi's fault that our system is unable to complete its monthly test. It's our Wifi's fault that the control panel in our bedroom just randomly goes off line, even if there is a booster less that 8 feet away from the panel. When I spoke to a 'customer service' rep I told her I was going to lodge a complaint with USAA she straight up laughed. Etc,etc,etc. We have zero idea if our alarm system even transmits to them! I have had ADT for well over 3 years in my home. Not only does the wall mounted TouchPad not show you the multiple cameras you have bought per your package (showing video feed unavailable) but it will record movement based on raindrops from your gutters. The system cannot defer people to raindrops. Also, my neighbors car was broken into, right where my camera was pointed. An officer came to our house to see if we could get the footage and we couldn't get it from ADT. At that point, what is the reason to get it? You could be murdered and have no footage of the killer saved. Lastly, to cancel you will still have to pay the final 30 days of service AFTER you cancel, whether or not you've had them for years and you "pay off" the useless equipment they install. Shoty work btw, I have lose wires protruding and dangling out of the wall in my sons room where I've had to rearrange furniture so he doesn't pull it and cause an accident. Ahhhh yes ADT. The large home alarm system company. Also a company that just continues to raise rates without improving service. Our home system was installed 24 years ago by a different company that was bought out by ADT. Same system. Same components. No upgrades in that whole 24 year timeframe. ADT just kept raising rates. I asked for a rate reduction or at least a rate freeze because I am retired. One offer was 'yes we can reduce your rate but we need to lock you down for an extended contract'. A 24 year old system with a new long term contract. I want to say it was a 2 year contract that was suggested. My response was 'but its the same old system that has been in place for over 24 years'. It took some haggling not by ADT but by myself to get the dialogue started for new equipment. When that took place it was not a rate reduction per say but a long term contract for sure. I gave up on them. Not worth it. If you have to be the one after decades of payments on a system to be the one to suggest an upgrade then sorry you're just to big a company. I will go elsewhere. Oh and at some point in the conversation of my advising I was canceling my service the rep at ADT said. . .'we'll advise your insurance company you've canceled the alarm service'. Because as you know. . .your home insurance will go up. Hey. . .I have a new service ready for install. Too late I notified my insurance company already. As you know when you post you need to give at least one star. That's what I had to do as well. I wouldn't have given 'any' star and I would not recommend this company. After speaking with 2 employees yesterday and having someone scheduled to come out today... no one has come yet. Upon calling today to see when someone was coming- they have now transferred me 4 times. With zero help and no solution - despite my confirmed job #, given yesterday to confirm this appointment. LOOK AT OTHER COMPANIES BEFORE YOU GET ADT. This is likely one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. We had them for about 8 years. I called because my system was defective and just wanted to cancel due to outrageous service call price. They continued to charge me for quite a while before sending me to collections. I called and told them that I would not pay for the time they charged me after I canceled. The rep then told me, "Good news sir, I talked to the collection department, if you pay $75 now this will settle the account". I asked if this was the whole account and the ADT rep said it was. A week later they call again saying I still owe hundreds minus a 75 dollar adjustment but if I paid another $75 that is would satisfy the requirments for the account in full. What a joke of a company. I have had motion detection which triggered my alarm to falsely go off at least 3 times in the last year. ADT never offered to fix it or replace the sensor. The month has finally come to me to cancel and be out of this THREE year contract and they stated I have to call them back and cancel next week, or that I would be charged for canceling early. I have already paid my last bill. What a joke, the contract IS OVER. Please do yourself a favor and never get tied up with this hoax of a company. They do not provide safety and security, just a quick collection of your monthly fee. I plan to purchase free cameras that attach to my WiFi and notify my phone, for free! I started doing business with ADT 5 July 2023. I thought I was getting a good deal for an alarm system, for my home in San Antonio Tx, However, they send out a representative that had subcontract on his blue ADT shirt meaning that he did not work directly for ADT. Once the subcontractor, begin the job it was way above his head. He did not have the knowledge needed to install or update an alarm system. They sent two other technicians out to assist him (red flags). I should put them out of my home at that point. Upon the technicians leaving my home on the 5 July the thermostats were not installed properly, there were dirty hand prints on the wall, screws all over the floor and to top it off. I had to call every day starting on 6 July all the way through 12 July before I could get someone to come back and install the thermostat properly. It was a nightmare. I do not recommend that you sign a contract with this company. Look at other companies. Once you sign the contract they are not helpful. read more

If I could give ADT negative 5 stars I would. They lied to me from the very beginning. They said my existing nest thermostats and cameras would be able to be incorporated into my security system. As Maury Povich would say "the lie detector test determined this was a lie." They told me whatever they needed to in order to get me to sign up for their service. I had a letter from ADT offering me $19.95 per month for 12 months as I was a former customer. I called the number on the letter and they transferred me or had a representative call me to get a system installed. When the installer came, he handed me his iPad and said I had to sign that before he could start installing the system. I thought it was me authorizing himto install the system. He installed the system and Then told me it would be $54.95 a month (I think that was the amount. )n I showed him the letter telling me I would get it at $19.95 per month for a year. He said he had never seen that letter. It was about 7 p.m. before he finished. He told me I would get a copy of my contract by email. He said I would have to call ADT to get it straightened out. The next business dayI Monday I spent over 3hours going from person to person. They said someone would call me. They said I would have to fax a copy of the contract cancellation to them Everything is shut down here for Covid 19 so faxing it would be nearly impossible . After spending another hour and a half on Tuesday with them they finally agreed to send someone to remove it. The installer never said I was signing a contract.. Do not recommend using ADT. They made me sign a three year contract knowing that I was not going to live in the home I was at for three years and then in order to move the system they wanted me to sign another three year contract even though I told them I might not live at the new place for three years thus putting me in a vicious cycle of renewing three year contracts with a security system that I have not been happy with. It started off bad. The install tech arrived at noon and didn't leave til after 9pm. We were given no indication the whole time of when he might be done and it cut into everyone's bed time and we were annoyed with the whole thing. There was an existing security system in the home from a previous owner; our motion detector, smoke detector and control box were replaced with ADT ones and those items were removed from the home without authorization. I was told this would be looked into by customer service when I tried to cancel but never heard back about my stolen goods. Our existing siren was used with the system instead of receiving the one that comes with the base system but no compensation was given. If it comes with one and I don't receive one, shouldn't I have gotten a discount? We're completely unhappy with the system and its capabilities. The system was sold under false pretenses as the limitations and capabilities were not fully explained. Also the website says 6 month money back guarantee but the fine print reveals that is a lie as it only applies to the monitoring fee. The sales rep also did not tell me the equipment remained property of ADT despite paying almost $1000 to have it installed. Also trying to sell the Ring doorbell to me for $30 more than you can buy it directly from ring for is really shady and I called the sales rep on it and got him to price match, so he said. I don't think he really pricematched because the original quote was $885 before tax and the final work order says $860 even though he said he'd knock $50 off. Also I wasn't told Ring had a separate fee to keep clips on the cloud. Our system was installed on Wed July 11. Over the next few days the security system continuously disappointed me. The garage door opener doesn't always work. The front camera keeps going offline. The outdoor cameras only take 32 second clips and have a 2-3 minute delay between clips according to customer service which makes them basically useless. An item was swiped from our rear deck in plain view of the camera; a clip was recorded due to being activated by motion, but by the time it actually started recording the item was already gone. I called on Monday to try to cancel and was told Saturday counts as an ADT business day so I would be unable to cancel since it had been longer than 3 business days. I consulted with legal here at Fort Campbell and was told that's BS. I was told by customer service since it'd been 4 business days that I'd have to pay the 75% of the remaining monitoring fees to cancel. Its pretty rotten to stick someone with a bill near $2000, not counting the initial $1000 install, knowing they are unhappy with your product and service so soon after becoming a customer. I was later left a message saying someone would be reaching out to me about other options for me as far as cameras go to try to suit my desires and needs, and that I would be given a credit for them but never heard back from anyone. All the "special deals" and individual pricing of items makes it impossible to tell how much you're really paying for anything. Its price manipulation like when you trade in a car to a dealer and they raise the sales price of your new vehicle and bury the evidence by changing the numbers. Originally on the quote I was told the garage door opener would be "free" due to all the other stuff I was having installed. Great. Why does it say its $98 on my final work order? On my original quote was an indoor camera which is $50. I told the technician we were opting out of the indoor camera but the final bill wasn't adjusted. I will be writing bad reviews all over as well as working with legal and other departments at Fort Campbell to get your company on the list of banned establishments that military are not allowed to do business with unless this is resolved by giving a full refund plus compensation for my missing items read more

I truly enjoyed my services with my ADT system I had in Florida, however, fast forward 10 yrs from then I feel like ADT has lowered their standards for a dollar. Let's start with: They have hired what are called "Authorized Dealers." Worst mistake ever; these are the most lying, conniving people I have ever seen. They throw pitches to scare you or make it sound like your realtor sent them. I closed on my home and 2 weeks later had a guy in my driveway. Fella tells me that he is an Area Sales Manager for my location and that I got all these incentives for buying a home in his area...blah blah okay so he says ADT and I'm like Oh ADT ...he happens to be from a Company called Safe Haven Security an Authorized Dealer. The technician who performed my install...I should have just went ahead and kicked them out of my house when I had the chance and the more I think about it ...Dang I'm kicking myself What an Idiot! He installed all my contacts crappy and I haven't been able to turn on my system 400 bucks later. Safe Haven completely ignored all my request for repair ...the Area manager never made an attempt to fix and I received no resolution. So they sat on my problems for 6 months and then turned my contract over to ADT and now all my contacts have been fixed and I can set my alarm properly but to say I had to spend 400 to get to set an alarm is BS! When I told ADT about this today I get a I'm sorry I'll get a technician out today...have a great day. The ADT technician was the most helpful person on the planet today. Although you get to keep the system, you cannot use another company other than ADT for it, so if you leave ADT, it is useless. Very poor customer service. I would guess that ADT has been the worst company I have ever worked with. Where do I start? * Exorbitant fees and impossible to cancel (expect $1000+ to cancel) * Many, many issues with the system - multiple false alarms, multiple police fees, multiple police fines for false alarms * Customer service ignores you (20+ minutes on hold). Act like you're a new customer looking to sign-up and they'll pick up right away. * When we had the alarm reinstalled after construction, they completely screwed it up. Still not working... I'm sure I can think of a few more issues, but this is the gist of it. Hint: use NCA or any other alarm company you can. Buy a guard dog. Build your own alarm system out of tin-foil, string, and bells. I don't really care what you do, just don't use ADT. Total bait and switch. They come to the house - hey, we will give you all the equipment free! All you have to do is pay for monitoring at XX dollars a month. Guy comes out to install your system - "well, these sensors aren't very good - they only work if someone opens a window, but if they break the glass, nothing. Now for an extra $300 I can install good sensors that include glass breaking. And it's only another xx dollars a month to monitor". So you say yes. Then when installation is done, "sign here for your THREE YEAR contract". Funny, no one mentioned that three year part, but you go ahead at this point. So the first time you cook anything on a high temp on the stove, the fire alarm goes off and the fire department shows up. After 7 or 8 false alarms, many conversations with ADT support or whatever it's called, and lots of visits from the FD, I'm fed up enough to take the fire alarm down and throw it in the river. We all know where this story is going.....I had a system installed in June. The night after installation, I armed my system, and went to bed. The alarm immediately went off. Confused, I walked to the key pad, disarmed it, and set it again...repeated motions.....until I discovered that the closing of my bedroom door was setting off the glass break detector...Frustrated, I called ADT the next day. They sent a technician out the next week. The technicians solution was to put a piece of TAPE over the microphone. He left, and ADT sent me a $167 bill for his time. I laughed, got angry, tried to cancel at that time and get my money back and was informed I was not allowed out of the contract. I don't need to get into more details, but here I am 3 months later, stuck with a company and product I have zero faith in. All that is owed back to me is $304. Really? For such a large corporation, you would think that's pennies compared to the money they are making daily. But no, they would like me to suffer and remain binded to them. So I have been a loyal customer of ADT since 2006, over a decade. I have had no memorable issues with the company until now, which was instigated by my move two years ago. Like other customers who've posted on here, I was bamboozled into a three year contract at that point and promised the dream of hassle-free transfer of service if I needed to move before the term expired. Well, fast-forward to my experiences today which have proved these promises to be nothing more than empty ploys to keep me in an endless cycle of captivity to ADT. Despite the dire circumstances which first compelled me to attempt to discontinue my services after 14 years of loyalty, ADT has refused to release me without charging me an exorbitant early termination fee, because they are only counting the past 2 years as relevant under the "new" service agreement. They are effectively strong arming me into giving them my money no matter whether I leave or stay with them. ADT is the worst security system. All they do is kick back and collect their money. My alarm had gone off numerous times with no calls from ADT. They were great when they first started out but have become sloppy and lazy while people trust them because they've been around so long and claim they have a great reputation. I'm on a 3 year contract for a set rate and every 6 months they try to raise my rates. I moved one time in the past during a 3 year contract and I was forced to renew my contract for 3 more years because it's either cancel with penalties or renew it for 3 years. I recently moved out of my rental and bought a new house and continue to pay ADT for the 6 remaining months to avoid paying for the penalties which is more money than the monthly payments. I haven't lived at the rental for 5 months and they haven't even noticed or addressed it. They disgust me. Never will I use ADT's services again. Do not get ADT. You will regret it. read more

An ADT representative (Faith) contacted me last week through my review. She determined that, when I upgraded my system, the salesman created another account and signed me up for monthly EasyPay without my knowledge. Thanks to Faith for fixing this. My bank did get my money back for me. The salesman will never set foot on my property again. It's really too bad that I had to post my review to get any action from ADT. Up until last week I was getting totally stonewalled by customer service (????). Since talking to Faith, I have received multiple phone calls from ADT about the problem. I've been an ADT customer for well over 15 years and this the only problem that I've had. Some idiot has undone the work that Faith did. I am now back to having two account numbers and getting bills for the new account that the idiot salesman created to get a commission. My annual bill is coming up and I am on the verge of buying out of the contract so I don't have to put up with this garbage. read more

Beware. ADT Protect Your Home uses high pressure, misleading telephone techniques akin to used car salesmen.

Customer service was rude. Will not recommend ADT. Go with somebody else before they lock you in with bad service for 3 years.
