As for the nail salon... I am PICKY! And I truly enjoyed this place from The phone call to set up an appt, to arriving early (got us right in after greeting) & having enough people for every pedicure chair & nail table (no empty spots!). Our two people were absolutely wonderful! They were efficient, very thorough & kind. I actually have an ingrown nail that when longer starts to hurt a bit. I was at that point & was concerned the pedicure might hurt more than normal. Not a chance! She was very thorough & yet no pains. And when I mean thorough, I mean it. She went back 3 times just to make sure my nail was handled properly (& I hadn't even yet mentioned the issue. I typically wait to see what they'll do before saying anything. This time I didn't have to ask for more work on it. It was perfect!!! I've been waiting to find my new nail place after relocating from another state. Called in for last minute appointment and headed in. I was serviced by Kief and he was great. I could tell the shop has a loyal customer base as I heard several clients coming in being greeted by name. That was nice to witness. I came in for pedicure and wanted ombré, however Kief directed me to another service that was acceptable. The staff didn't do much talking amongst each other and were instead engaged with their clients. That made for a welcoming and pleasant vibe in the shop. Been going to Michael for years would never go anywhere else, i have referred all of my friends to Viva Nails!

Friendly staff and virtually no wait time, nice atmosphere. Walked in for a foreign builder gel removal. I called beforehand and asked if they do this service because I know many salons are hesitant to remove foreign nail sets but they reassured me that they can do the service and insisted I come in. My nail tech used a nail drill and acetone to remove the bulk of the gel (Did he sterilize the drill bit? I don't know as the drill bit was already attached when we both sat down and I doubt it was.) Towards the end, my nail tech used his own nail to peel off the lifted builder gel and damaged my nail plate that I had worked so hard to strengthen and grow out. He then proceeded to very roughly file my nails with a low grit nail file further weakening my nails, and they weren't even straight at the end. The service ended with residual gel leftover on my sidewalls. 30 minutes total. $15 charged. I even tipped $5 because I'm an idiot. I'm only giving two stars because he was a good conversationalist and seemed like a nice guy. read more

I always choose Lisa for my pedicure. She is professional and kind and always has a smile on her face. Her foot massages are amazing and my toes always look pretty when I leave! The only thing I would change would be for cell phone speaker use to be prohibited for employees and clients. Listening to numerous clatter on LOUD speaker phones is just not enjoyable. I have been going to Sue for about 2yrs now and everytine had been wonderful and her husband Michael. I have always left satisfied. However there is a negative remark but in my opinion 1 time out of the many times I've gone isn't bad. Everything is clean I've never had anytime of skin infections. Great nail salon! I've been to a few others around town but I always come back. They are very quick to respond if you wanted to schedule an appointment (I do recommend that since they tend to get busy). Tim was my nail technician last time and he was very thorough with my nails. The only downside and the reason for 4 stars is ventilation, they do have small fans at their stations but when first walking in the smell of acetone and nail polish is rather strong. read more

I couldn't find a place that was open on Sunday's (we were both desperate to get them done that day) until my room mate found Viva Nails. I'm usually not the one to turn my back on my original nail place either so I was a little sketched. I got SNS on my real nails that I had been growing out and added 3 tips on 3 nails that had broken off and they had no problem doing that. The lady who I believe was the owner, did them very efficiently and ALWAYS continuously asked me if I wanted to change something or if everything looked okay as a nail tech should... doesn't always happen though! She was very sweet and outgoing and I enjoyed myself. I also got a regular white paint/pedicure. My friend did it the same time I did but I felt like the older man who did my feet skipped some routine things on mine. I was not very confrontational about it which could have been my fault but he was also not the nicest either. So if you're doing your toes, make sure you say something! All together was $68. This was my first time here. I made an appointment the day before and I went in about 15 mins early. They were not busy and got me in quick. The owner (wife) is so nice. I came here after a friend recommended it and reading great Yelp reviews, unfortunately my experience was not great. I went for a basic pedicure and while being serviced decided to add on a manicure. Michael started my pedicure and did a decent job, afterwards he gave me over to Sue to polish my toes. First thing Sue asked if I want a gel manicure. I politely said no. Sue says, your polish isn't going to last long. I said gel manicure makes your natural nails weak. No, no Sue says to which I said well that's been my experience. I can understand the business owner wanting to upsell but don't try to tell me my experience is invalid. If you have product or a routine to share that will allow me to keep the integrity of my nails after gel, then state it. Sue finished my pedicure, I move to get my manicure. Sue begins filing my nails then ask me not to flex my finger while she is filing. The file she was using was hurting a bit while she was filing, and I was just trying to endure it. However I decided to share with Sue after she asked me not to flex that the file was hurting my nails and ask if it was a file for natural nails. Sue says something to the effect of it doesn't matter what kind of nail file we have to file nails. I thought she didn't understand me, so again I try to explain about the type file how some files surfaces are harder and others softer for different type of nails. Instead of saying I'm so sorry I'm almost finished or let me find a softer nail file, Sue tells me that I am wrong about what I am experiencing. It was at that moment that I decided to end my service all together. I payed for the pedicure and left. I don't understand why the business owner would be in an argumentative state with a first time customer well any customer. I don't have time for the talk back, there are thousands of other nail salons and I choose to spend my money with a business that are friendly and don't want to invalidate their customers experience. read more

My nail tech was an older gentleman in a real hurry. He drilled my nails way too much and skipped steps in the SNS process. He polished OVER my cuticles, so after one week of growing out they look like badly applied press-on nails. There's a rough edge where the polished nail is growing out. Also he was very impatient if I didn't know how he wanted me to hold my hand while he worked. I've been getting SNS manicures for at least 10 years, and I've never seen anything like this. Yesterday my daughter and I visited Viva Nails for the first time. We just moved to Lexington and after lots of review reading on Yelp, we decided to give Michael and Sue a try. We couldn't be more pleased! We both got acrylic fills with gel polish. Michael was detailed and gentle. He listened to exactly what I was looking for and checked in with me several times to make sure he was doing what I wanted. My nails came out great. The fill was all the to the nail bed, thin and shaped just as I asked. My daughter had Sue work on her nails. At first my daughter wanted to have all her nails taken off and a new set put on as she was very dissatisfied with how they looked (done at another salon out of state). Sue asked her what she didn't like about them and suggested that it would be less expensive for her to "fix" what she didn't like about them. My daughter agreed to let Sue correct the problems (way too thick and shape was too wide). Sue did exactly what my daughter wanted and she couldn't be more pleased. Not only did she save her money (fill vs new set), she wound up with her nails looking exactly as she wanted! Viva Nails followed all Covid -19 guidelines. They had you use hand sanitizer when entering, masks were required for everyone, plexiglass shields were installed at each work station (including pedicure bowls), clients were spaced out so they were farther than 6 feet apart and they thoroughly clean each space after use. You also had to purchase a file and buff set ($2) that you take home with you and bring back to use the next time. This way the only nails touched by the equipment are your own! Have had nails for over 30 years and being extremely picky, I can whole heartedly recommend Michael and Sue at Viva Nails. read more

My mother & I were customers across the way at Model Nails for 18 years. We absolutely loved Michael! The owners sold to a new couple and it changed drastically to the point we could no longer go there. After finding a temporary average salon we decided to start flipping through Yelp to find a new place & found Michael! He and his wife Sue bought this place, renovated & opened their own salon! Today was our first visit & we couldn't be happier! We both had SNS nails & pedicure. The pedicure was the best I've had in forever! Tom gave an amazing foot & leg massage; & my toes look super cute! I never felt like he rushed, he took his time & I felt like he strived to do a thorough job. Michael did my SNS & of course it was a stellar job. I decided to ditch my ombré pink & white to go with a more fall appropriate color and did #247 instead. Michael also took his time, I never felt rushed, and I am MORE than happy with the results. I won't front and pretend that I'm not persnickety, but as a paying customer I've always felt that you deserve to be treated well and get great service. You never should feel like your tech is only there for a paycheck or that you are cattle being herded in & herded out. I can tell that Michael learned from what went wrong across the way & is putting a concerted effort into making sure his customers feel appreciated for their business and satisfied with the service they receive. Previously I didn't like to let others do my nails, but I watched as his wife Sue and another gentleman worked today and saw that they both did a very thorough and precise job as well. Came in yesterday to get my toes done, and my nail color was bumpy. Came back to get them fixed and got them repainted and this time i decided to a powder gel for my hands. As soon as we were done with my hands I looked at my feet and I had bumps...again. The girl that was helping me mentioned it to the manager I guess and they were laughing because I want my nails smooth. I pay close to $40 for a pedi...I don't think that's unrealistic expectation. They put another top coat to shut me up. The bumps happens when the nail polish is old. This officially is the worse place to get your nails done. It's confirmed. If you want to waste your money and go get angry come here. Unbelievable! Now I have to go somewhere else to get this fixed. read more

My wife has found her new favorite place to get her nails done. She doesn't get her nails done at a salon very often, maybe once every few years for something very formal, because she's never been really satisfied with the results. Until now. This is the first time she's ever really been happy and satisfied with going to a nail salon. I picked her up from here when she was done and she spent the whole drive back gushing about the good service, the friendly staff, and the great job they did on her nails, how she's never had her nails done so well. They were very accommodating. She called to set up an appointment, they told her that if she came down right now, they had a vacancy and she wouldn't need an appointment. She got a manicure and pedicure and was totally satisfied. I spent the rest of the day afterwards hearing about what a great experience she had. It's a little hole-in-the-wall place in a strip mall, but they do great work. Apparently Michael and Tom there are particularly good and she wanted to make sure I gave them a shout-out for their excellent work. It was only my second time there, but he still remembered my wedding was up soon and details about how I liked my nails done.
