Excellent food and great service! Chicken and cheese nachos are best in town! Super cheesy and lots of chicken! read more

Viva Mas - Mexican Near Me - Bloomington, Indiana

Very very good food and fun atmosphere! Our server was sub par but it didn't matter because the food is great. The portions are big and and the burritos are huge. I always get the pineapple chorizo and chicken fajitas and they are to die for! Try the Trio dip appetizer and thank me later. Prices are a little high and service needs some work but for a new restaurant, I will give it 5 stars! read more

The food and the service was good. The portions are huge so bring your appetite or plan on taking some home.

I have gone to Viva Mas twice now. It was okay but definitely not my favorite. I like that they put the salsa in a pourable container and give you bowls for everyone at your table. I really hate having to share a bowl for salsa so I loved this idea. But when I ordered a mushroom quesadilla and a side of steamed vegetables and what came out tasted good but was not presented well. The steamed vegatables were on a very large plate (larger than the plate for the quesadilla) and looked like they had just been thrown on the plate. Overall I liked the food but was dissapointed by the presentation. I liked Casa Brava much more and I am very sad the East location was shut down. read more

Not authentic Mexican food as most places are here, with that being said the TexMex style food was good, staff was nice, and the manager was funny, and showed real appreciation for us as customers! Go try this new eatery. read more

awful service. the waiters take forever and they are not friendly. the food comes out fast which is the only reason this restaurant deserves a star at all. i've been here on multiple occasions and every time i am disappointed with how the waiters treat their costumers. i've had to ask for my check multiple times, ask for a side of something multiple times as well to the point that it was 10 minutes after my meal came out that i got my queso. this is ridiculous. clearly waiters can't seem to understand their job description. read more

My cousin and I eat here every other Sunday for our girls day out. If we go anywhere else we are immediately regretting not choose this Mexican restaurant! The decor is gorgeous, outside seating is nicer and the food is always so good and fast! Highly recommend! read more

Food was great, flavorful spices. Chicken chimichangas, was yummy. The bean dip appetizer was plentiful and delish. The decor is a bit loud, but it is happy place. We will be back for sure. read more

Amazing food! Beautiful decor and the wait staff was very friendly and efficient. Food came quickly! We will be definitely be returning often. read more

Pedestrian. It was better than Taco Bell. That's about all I can say but since they want more words per review than that, I'll add that the service was good, the building seemed recently renovated, and it was in an easy-to-get-to location. read more

This place is horrible. First of all, the waiter didn't know the prices of any drink and basically ignored us when we asked any questions regarding the menu. Secondly, when he checked our IDs (we are all 21+) he bent mine so hard that it almost broke and it is now permanently bent so thanks for that. Furthermore, the bathroom fully has 2 toilets and only 1 door. So if you want to pee next to a stranger not even 6 ft. Apart, don't come here. And the cherry on top is I found a long black hair INSIDE my quesadilla. The waiter tried to tell me it was my hair, but 1. It was inside my food and 2. I have blonde hair. We had to wait 40 minutes for our check and saw our waiter once every 25 minutes. It was ridiculous and scarring. NEVER COME HERE. read more

Love Mexican Food, why do Mexican restaurants think that they have to be overly gaudy. This one is way over the top, but this should not effect the food quality. We were seated very quickly and the chips, salsa and drinks arrived very quickly, but the waitress seemed to have forgotten to get our order, when we did order the food arrived very quickly, to quickly to have been freshly prepared. ordered the enchiladas verdes, after the first bite my palate was overtaken by the salt. I could not finish the meal. Sorry but this is not Mexican but is a pre-packages substitute. Not a very good dining experience. read more

Went with my husband. First impression, the restaurant is GORGEOUS. The staff was friendly and service was prompt. Drinks were served quickly and the wait for our food was short. The dishes were delicious. The restaurant was clean and the prices were reasonable. Not sure Bloomington needs ANOTHER Mexican restaurant, but there is nothing to complain about with this one. read more

First time going here. It was delicious and the decoration gave off the greatest vibe. It wasn't busy but understandable during a pandemic. Our server was quick and friendly. I had the Viva Mas Fajitas and they were great! read more

The food was really good and great service. I have tons of allergies and they were able to help out!

I really wanted to like this place, but after three visits i have given up. The food I have had as been fine but the drinks have been almost undrinkable 2/3 times, and the service has been bad each time...maybe its because we have had the same waiter each time. The service has just been super unreliable with the waiter disappearing for 20 minutes at a time or demanding our drink order within 30 seconds of giving us the drink menu. The cocktails have also been either okay or undrinkable. The frozen margarita i got was okay, nothing special, but the margarita my friend got which was one the rocks (despite her asking for it frozen) was awful and tasted like plastic. There are much better places in town to go for mexican food, and with much better service. read more

Came to Viva Mas for a first visit, based on good Yelp reviews. The actual experience was very disappointing. Service was slow, even though the place wasn't crowded. Meat for the fajitas was overcooked, but the biggest mess was the Albondigas--meatballs wrapped around hard-boiled eggs. The menu photo shows four of these to an order in a white chipotle sauce. The actual delivered dish had ONE-AND-A-HALF meatballs, each wrapped around a slice of very overcooked hard-boiled egg. I pictured something like Scotch eggs and got something like a dog's dinner. When I talked to the manager about it, he offered to make me something else, but as disappointing as both of our entrees were, I didn't want what they had to offer. But hey, they were kind enough to leave the unwanted item on the bill at full price! Mas indeed. You can skip this glorified Taco Bell. (And in the spirit of full disclosure, I am a former chef of a Mexican restaurant, so I know good Mexican food from bad.) read more

We tried this about 2 nights after they opened and it did not disappoint! The food was awesome...I had the seafood enchiladas and they were the best I've had. I gave 5 stars based on the food we ate but our service was definitely a 1 star from out original waitress...we kept asking the other waitress in our area and she was more than gracious due to ours being too worried about taking behind the bar. But overall it is a great place to eat! read more

This place slaps so hard. By FAR the best Mexican food in Bloomington. I also got very drunk off of one margarita. It was the best lunch I've had in so long. I will dream about the carne asada tacos and margarita until I die. read more

This is certainly a welcome addition after Casa brava closed on the east end. Very nice service, nice menu options, and reasonable prices.

First time coming here and the food was fresh. I had the fajitas with shrimp, chicken and steak. They were so good. Well seasoned and the single portion is humongous. It could feed two. My fiancé had the pollo especial and he also loved his food. The restaurant is very colorful and the decor is gaudy but cute. Overall the food is good and atmosphere is also nice. We went on Sunday so we also got to take advantage of the $1.99 draft beer. read more

Good service. Nice outdoor dining. Reasonable price. Food a little salty but it's Mexican

Been here a couple times now and I haven't had a bad thing yet. The service has been pretty decent for the most part. Definitely will be one of my new go-to's read more

The food - specifically the meat in the food - was waaaay to salty! First and last time we'll eat there. Going back to Casa Brava, La Charreada, and/or El Ranchero, sorry! read more

Good food but terrible service!!!! I have to keep typing to leave a review so I will again say this is terrible service. I've had my to-go orders wrong and then still had to wait once I drove back. Dining inside now and our server is not attentive at all. read more

I went to Viva Mas with two of my friends on a Saturday afternoon. The service was incredible and very quick. The food came out minutes after we ordered and was by far the best Mexican food I have had thus far in Bloomington. The lunch specials were priced very well and I will most definitely return! read more

Tonight was my second visit to Viva Mas. My first visit was delicious - got the veggie lunch special with mushroom quesadilla, rice and beans. Everything was piping hot, service was great. Tonight, however, was absolutely terrible. I got a veggie quesadilla, rice and beans to play it safe. The quesadilla had sautéed spinach and tomato only. All of the food was cold when it came out to us. For some reason the beans tasted sweet? I thought I'd order a margarita to try and get something enjoyable out of the evening. I got the frozen peach once. It came already almost completely melted, and 75% of the drink was plain syrup not mixed in. My first sip was warm peach syrup and even after mixing it up it was plain terrible - melted completely and tasted like straight syrup, no tequila. My boyfriend ordered the cherry cheesecake chimis as one last attempt to get something good from this trip - they were cold and the filling was pretty flavorless, I don't think it was actually cheesecake. The cherry part was literal cherry jelly from a jar. I would not recommend any of the aforementioned items. I think this place is a safer bet during the daytime when they are more well staffed and are preparing food fresh for every order. But, if you have a favorite Mexican spot and go to order in town already seriously don't even bother. I will say, the interior is gorgeous. Kudos with the remodel, but this place needs some serious quality control. read more

This food was amazing. I think owned by the same people who own El Ranchero on the south side, and I love both places. I ordered the shrimp tacos, our food came out in what seemed like 5 minutes, and they were to die for! I also had some of my friends nachos he couldn't finish cause it was all just too delicious to pass up! So I was extremely disappointed when I wake up last night with excruciating abdominal pain due to food poisoning!! I almost called an ambulance it was so painful!! I thought I was going to die, I was doubled over and I couldn't even talk to my boyfriend to tell him what was going on. I broke out into a terrible cold sweat, shivering, and my hands got extremely clammy, then next thing I know, I was losing fluids from both ends man. I NEVER call into work but I am so weak, my guts are in knots, and I have to run to the bathroom every 10 minutes. It made me question whether or not all the other times I thought I had food poisoning was actually food poisoning and not mild indigestion.. so you will get your food fast and enjoy the food while you're eating it.... But the risk of feeling like this again is probably going to have me avoiding Mexican food all together for quite some time... read more
