The al pastor is absolutely outstanding--packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, juicy, and just the right amount of char. Add the fresh toppings and salsa and the whole thing just works. This is the kind of place where you order a couple tacos, take the first bite, and immediately realize your only mistake was not ordering more.

OK, this is big. There is a new #1 in my heart for Bloomington Mexican food. And it's Tacos El…read morePastor. It's new to Bloomington, new to me, and has moved into first place in a town with many many options. Tacos El Pastor is so new I had to have Yelp add the restaurant. They have a food truck as well I believe, but this is the restaurant located where Juanita's used to be. The menu is typical of most places with all the options you'd expect, the interior is decorated like the others. The service was great - but it was empty so let's hope it continues when they get known in town. The food. Well, the food was simply better. I had the Fajitas Little Mexico, which is their version of combo steak-chicken-shrimp. There was an abundance of meats, plus perfectly cut onions and peppers. I ordered without tomato so don't know how those would be. It was flavorful, hot and delish. The side plate was the usual, with perfect refried beans, the lettuce and cheese, and rice. I opted for both flour and corn tortillas (I would guess that was an add-on but forgot to look at my receipt) - both were piping hot. All in all, best in town. I had debated between fajitas and the chimichanga and luckily my wife ordered the fajita chimi and I was able to rescue 1/4 of it from touching the sour cream 'just in case' she didn't finish it. I know her well, and it was a HUGE chimi. There was no way she was finishing so I planned ahead. She loved it. I did too. It was stuffed, big, and fried perfectly. The beans and rice were on the side, and the chimi had the steak, green peppers and onions. All in all, again, best in town. SO the only problem? When I return do I order fajitas or chimichanga? I'd like to branch out but I know that won't happen. I need my fix again. El Ranchero Southside, let it be known there is a new sheriff in town. We'll still visit because you're close, but I'll be heading downtown for at least half my Mexican dining from this point forward.

I travel for work and try new places everyday but have never ever had a better waitress than Evelyn. They have so many decorations and murals that make things seem even more friendly and inviting. The only thing that could be better is the food. The chips and burrito all kinda just tasted really soft but and lacked a kick. It wasn't bad though. This place also has amazing specials! I garuntee Ill stop here again one day

Obviously prepared in advance, they were bland. No flair. For $15 you get beans and rice and tortillas-- except they forgot the tortillas. No real presentation values. Slow service despite being almost the only ones in the restaurant. The stuffed chilies were.... greasy, their (red) sauce bland. Blah. We understand food costs are rising, but here, the quality is going down. I shrug. Lots of competition around town. The upsides are that it's clean, nice restrooms, and very polite. Downsides are slower service, and no flair. We don't drink alcohol, and didn't sample their drinks. Maybe those are good. We'll never know or care.

And lately, our orders are always messed up somehow, whether we call them in or order online. They'll forget the queso, or we'll order a chicken chimichanga and somehow end up with beef. My coworker ordered through DoorDash recently, and they messed up her entire order, forgot her cheese sauce, and then somehow charged her extra later through the DoorDash app. I really want to love this place, but between the Fabuloso-flavored food and the consistently messed-up orders, it's getting harder to justify.

I've been here for breakfast and lunch and both times had a great experience with delicious food…read moreand good service. Between my two visits, I got the vegan arepa, Venezuelan breakfast plate, tres leches cake cup, and regular and horchata matcha lattes. The vegan arepa was very tasty. It was a little difficult to eat because the arepa was sliced so thinly that it didn't look sturdy enough to pick up, but it was too crispy to easily cut through with a fork and knife. Still delicious though. I had meant to order with the pink sauce but forgot to specify and got what I think was the guasacaca instead, but it was so good that I didn't really mind. The Venezuelan plate was the right balance of simple and flavourful. Great acai bowl. Tres leches was very sweet, but I enjoyed it, and it was a nice individual portion. The regular matcha latte was pretty good, however the horchata was so sweet that I thought it somewhat overpowered the matcha in the horchata latte. I also tried the açai bowl and fresh-squeezed OJ that my family ordered, and would also highly recommend both of those! Whether you're visiting for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, there's a ton of variety including Venezuelan, Mexican, other Latin American, and USAmerican dishes, and some vegetarian and vegan options. The atmosphere is cool with the fake plants on the ceiling, and they had fun Latin music on. The waitress we had both times was friendly and professional, and the food was reasonably quick to come out. Recommended for something different in Bloomington!

I thought Feast tamales were good, but Bivi's is AMAZING. Super authentic - tastes and looks like the homemade ones I've had. Sometimes I just come by to get salsa (8 oz for $5). The roasted diablo salsa (roasted tomatoes, caramelized onions, garlic, habaneros, cilantro & sea salt) is my favorite salsa EVER. It's spicy and very cilantro-y. I think it's also called roasted diablo because it's a very, very deep green..almost black. I usually get the combo (2 tamales, rice, beans & salsa). You can't go wrong with any tamale but my favorite was a special order tamale - shiitake and cheese. I know that sounds weird but it was amazing. The rice & beans are delicious too - a little salty but delicious!
