Huevos rancheros
Tenia O.

I've had pretty much the full menu over the years. It's pretty good. I really like they're breakfast. Service is usually nice, but could be better. The green salsa is yum & food is pretty good. But it used to taste way better. This place has been here for years. And over time it's gone from oh yeah to alright. Every now & then I order from Jalisco using an app. From my experience, dine in is better. Using delivery service my order tends to be incorrect, items missing & yeah a lil stingy on portions at times. But it's still better than ordering taco bell. In all this is still a good spot to stop & grab a quick bite at a good price. Yelp on my friends!

Where in gods green earth can you find an amazing homemade breakfast for $4.49. You can find it here at viva Jalisco. The food is absolutely amazing, the prices are amazing, and the people are very nice. Today I got the Huevos rancheros And I was very impressed with the price in the meal. Food: Eggs were cooked just like asked, Over hard. The sauce to use was very flavorful and tangy. I like them a lot. The dish comes with a side of fried potatoes beans and tortillas. I added two sides of bacon at $.99 for each side. My total cost for my meal was around seven dollars. The food was absolutely good, after looking at the menu it looks like they have some really great lunch specials as well. I'm really excited that I found this place because I look forward to trying more things off the menu. They have a very extensive menu and from the pictures on yelp they look really good. I'm gonna have to try them out for lunch soon. Service: the people that answer the phone are really nice. My order was ready in about six minutes. These guys are on the ball. They answer the phones take your order and get your food prepared. Restaurant can really learn a thing or two from this company. They understand customer service, they understand pricing, and they also understand how to cook really good food. I am really impressed on how they run this business here. I hope the owner sees this and really commands employees because they are doing a great job. It's either family owned or they have been trained to treat the business like it's their own. Whoever runs this business should be very thankful for their employees. I'm telling you they're doing a really good job here. If you've never tried this place I suggest you give them a try. Simply on price alone but once you try their food you'll realize that you're getting a hell of a deal.

It's sort of a little hole in the wall, but the food was great. Service was ok. Nothing bad, nothing really good either. They did their jobs, which I was ok with. Complimentary chips and salsa were good. Both the green and red salsas had a kick, but not overwhelmingly so. We had chile con queso to share as an appetizer. I got the carne guisada, which was fantastic. The meat was tender and had a great flavor. It came with rice, beans, a little salad, and tortillas. I ate pretty much all of it. I also had a Dos XX michelada. It hit the spot after a long day. I got to try a bite of my friend's carnitas too. It was very good as well. Overall, it was a good experience and I'll definitely be going back.

Additional fee for paying with credit/debit card.
Alex B.

This business charges a DEBIT CARD PROCESSING FEE. 1. It's illegal to charge a surcharge in DEBIT cards. Only allowed on credit cards. But they charge it in Debit cards and they don't have to pay it to anyone else to they are effectively stealing money from customers. 2. They bait you with prices on the the menu and don't disclose the price of you pay with a credit/debit card until you get the bill. Under the current law this practice is also illegal. The price difference must also be disclosed upfront BEFORE a purchase is made.

I've been coming here for years to get Horchata, flan, and a burrito. Every time I get the same thing and every time they consistently deliver top quality horchata, flan and burritos. Don't change a thing.

Living in the area, I see so many restaurant establishments fail in this infamous corner of Bammel and Veterans Memorial. But Viva Jalisco has managed to pull it though and be a permanent local favorite for many. I believe this is their second or third location from the original Viva Jalisco on Jones and Grant and after seeing how busy it gets I finally wanted to give this place a try after a long day of soccer practice. Came in here with my kids and the service was great. I loved how our servers interact with my kids as we all attempt to teach them Spanish and they are so patient with helping them out with their second Language as they order. "Tacos deh Fajita poor-fay-vor" Since I am a more "authentic" Tex-Mex than my children I sticked to one of my classic favorites, Carne Guisada with beans and rice. (Side salad included too). Their natural waters are delicious, my personal fave are both the Limeade and Pineapple. The salsa to me is what truly defines if the place will work out for us, we love chips and salsa, I always order extra to pour all over my food and Viva Jalisco does not disappoint in their tasty salsa. Salsa Roja is not too spicy but not mild, just perfect for dipping my chips until my tongue starts getting hot. I love coming here since their prices are also reasonable and don't have to burn a hole in my pocket on a Thursday night after a long day of practice. Safe to say, Viva Jalisco is here to Stay.

I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend. This restaurant has a lot of seating. It's actually on Bammel North Houston and not on Veterans Memorial. Don't blink otherwise you might pass it. The plates are big, and the prices are great especially for lunch. For the size of the restaurant and how busy they are, they could use more wait staff. You have to remember to pay at the desk near the entrance. They have some sweet treats as well for sale on the counter. Very nice staff and the food comes out very quickly, and tastes good. I've been here a few times and if I'm in the area and really hungry I would come back again. Enjoy!

I ordered through Grubhub and picked up myself because it is near my house and when I've tried to call in orders they usually have trouble understanding me because I don't really speak Spanish fluently so to save a headache for me and then I ordered online. I went to pickup and it wasn't a long wait time to pickup the order however once I got in my car and checked my order it was wrong. I went ahead and went back in for them to remake only the tacos that they made wrong, not my entire order. I'm not a hard***. After a few minutes I got a bag with the tacos I thought they remade however once I got home I was surprised to see that all they had done was remove the stuff put on them so they had pieces of lettuce tomato and cilantro onions etc on them instead of being plain how I ordered them. They were also soggy now which really sucked. So needless to say I don't recommend this place only thing decent we're the refried beans. And to be that rude and not be able to just remake my food that they made a mistake on because even in the order it clearly stated plain. Anyways don't waste your time.

Tres Leches

I usually don't write reviews but this is literally unseasoned Mexican food save your money! I'm not Mexican but Ive had many delicious authentic dishes and this was sooooo disappointing. The food looked nothing like the menu and the tres leches was dry and looked like a regular piece of cake for $4!! I've had amazing mouth watering tortas BUT THIS ONE was definitely far far from mouth watering. My flautas had no texture it literally was soggy. Omg never again. If you like unseasoned food this place is for you.

Happy Cinco De Mayo! Met the ladies here to celebrate, & break bread…read more Thank you Jamila for selecting this original location of the Original Ninfas, to host, (our last supper, before your relocation from Houston to Florida.). A place I grew up in as a little girl in Beaumont but never have I've visit this "original" location. Stepping in to this spot felt like a restaurant in the country of Mexico. I ordered the El Henry. I absolutely loved my dish, only thing I would've chance was the cheese enchilada definitely would've swap for a chicken or beef one, or maybe even a flaunta. I really like the Mexican rice, it had little potatoes and carrots in it. Some of the best Mexican yellow rice I've had. They offer a cinco de mayo drink special. The only thing that seem to make it special was the drinks apparently were limited edition menu items. Nothing was special about the prices. The regular menu drinks were a dollar(s) less. The margarita I ordered first was peach coconut. I didn't taste the coconut at all. I swap for the peach strawberry ($14 or 15) which was great, sweet& strong. One did me just right. You get to select up to two flavors for additional $2 (for both verse each, that's a plus. Not worded on menu). If you select a third flavor an additional $2 would be added ($4 in total) I appreciate separate tickets provided after confirmation and no additional gratuity automatically added, which he got tip equally the same or more. When asked about the "empty" patio that was available, he informed us that the entire deck was reserved. Upon departing I noticed from the parking lot individual tables, of separate parties were occupying only 3 tables. It was 8 of us sitting at 2 tables. Which the table was pushed up against the wall, and one side was inaccessible, which took away spacing. Service was lovely space was really tight. Good thing some of the ladies didn't order full meals. Definitely wouldn't have been able to fit every plate.

Ambiance: upon walking in, it was chaos and sooooo many people standing up and sitting down. Walking around with drinks. I felt like I was in a club. A server made her way to me to take my Togo order. While waiting, I grabbed a drink at the bar and just made the happy hour cut off. Service was great as I was able to get my order and it was a large order. Everything was correct. The house margarita was ok, I wish I had gotten the hibiscus flavor. Order; Crab Tostadas Mixed Fajitas Snapper Mole Enchilada Ninfa 2 Tacos Margarita Mix The only thing I would order again is the crab tostadas and the beef fajitas. The chicken had no flavor at all. The charros beans and rice were not anything special. I was not a fan of either. Overall, we are not planning to order from here again. It just wasn't what Mark Weins made it seem like on his review. Also, whoever the driver was practically could not wait for me to turn around. Sorry, I had to take a pic. Very rude.

For drinks, my husband and our friends tried some of the margaritas from their large and unique margaritas menu, as well as their hibiscus agua fresca. All of the drinks were very pretty and it seemed like everyone enjoyed them, too! We started with their chips and salsa trio, which we all really liked. The chips were on the thicker side, but were crispy and not stale or chewy at all. Each of the salsas were quite different, and two were served warm, which we really liked! For the price, I'd consider getting the chips and salsa as a non-negotiable, honestly. For entrees, we tried the enchilada rojas, chilaquiles verde w/ chicken and beef, birria barbacoa ramen, and huaraches. My husband felt like his ramen could have included more meat, but aside from that everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. The highlight was probably the desserts, though! We got a quatro leches and two ordered of their giant and amazing churros. Both were incredibly tasty and reason enough to return for another visit in the future!

The "queso" w/carne seemed to be out of a can-it was orange & didn't have the consistency of real cheese- wasn't really cheese & was disgusting. It was $9.99. I am including a photo of the overcooked beef fajita. A senior citizen can get the all beef lunch fajita special for virtually the same price as the fajita combo here ALL DAY at Pappasitos. It definitely is enough for 2. The meat melts in your mouth. EVERYTHING is better quality than here. Teo charged $1.50 for perhaps 4 or 5 slices of lime to make the happy hour margaritas made with a gross mix drinkable. That's outrageous. It reminds me that I had stopped going long ago when they charged extra for onions on enchiladas. Come on. You don't charge extra for chopped onions! I have never been to another restaurant that does so. Some even provide carmelized grilled onions gratis. I'm convinced that a $15. YUMMY mango margarita at Pappasitos would have given us the same buzz & tasted better than 8 happy hour margaritas here. I used to love the in house made flour tortillas at Teo. Tonight they were tough & uneventful. We arrived on a week night when they were not busy. Neither of the salsas were as good as they used to be.The water pitcher didn't even have ice when they refilled the water. I have absolutely no desire to return. Why would I?

I prefer traditional homemade Mexican food but here we are. (Oh I googled and suggested this place lol) Went in for a team lunch on a Friday. Coworker's birthday lunch and she wanted Mexican. Party of 9 and we were seated promptly. They have a lunch menu and a happy hour as well as a full menu and full bar. The interior was nicely decorated. And open. There is bar seating and patio seating as well. Our waitress was Aisha and she was amazing. Friendly, helpful and patient. And able handle our large group and a few more tables with a smile. There were a variety of options. Salads, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Also complimentary chips and salsa. My Order: chicken tortilla soup, lunch fajitas combo - chicken and beef. Chicken tortilla soup (3.5/5) - it was a bit salty for me but I am not a salt person so most things are salty to me; everyone else said it was tasty, there were tons of shredded chicken, avocado pieces, tortilla strips Fajitas - combo (4/5) - chicken was seasoned well and the beef (medium rare) was perfection and so tender and juicy, mexican rice was fluffy, and normally I would pass on the beans and get extra rice but my coworker suggested the charro beans and wow, that was a win - the seasoning was great, there were chunks of meat and the texture was nice, the only thing that could have been done better is the flour tortillas - they over-charred them making them too crispy and left them with a burnt taste. A couple of people got the elote salad and raved about it. So that will be a next time try. Def will be back. Everyone enjoyed their meals and some even ordered food to go. Would recommend.
