On days when I want to send special mail to family or friends, this place is right close to the local post office. They sure get a good crowd most of the time I've been there. Their service is fast, friendly, and heat up sandwiches pretty quickly. To be Frank, however, the tomato caprece taste can feel capricious when you know you can do the same at home, so when we go somewhere: it's nice to expect something a bit more authentic and flavorful: which goes to show that rushing anything too much, especially a beloved sandwich that they also make in Barnes and Nobles quickly --can take away from the flavor--and that goes with friendship and family relationships, as well. To do a good thing, people fix what is there. To do a great thing, cooks, or people in general, try new ways to make the classic even better. Today I had the pleasure of visiting Vito's with co workers for lunch and I have to say that from the second I walked in to the second I walked out I was treated with exceptional professionalism and service. As I approached the counter I was met with a bright smile from a young worker. She proceeded to ask what I would like and took my order while maintaining a smile. This is important and I believe she knew it. I ordered a small meatlover calzone that was prepared to the T. The dough was cooked to a perfect crisp which in turn helped all interior ingredients reach the perfect temperature for a perfect bite everytime. Thank you much! We've been ordering from Vito's for 20 years and have always been happy, however tonight will be the last time. We placed an order for a pepperoni pie, a Brooklyn pie, and a broccoli white pie. What we received was a plain pie, a Brooklyn pie and a broccoli white pie. We called to let them know and the person who answered the phone apologized for the mistake and asked if we wanted a refund or a replacement pie. Since it was late and the game was already on, we just asked for a refund. A few minutes later, we get a call from someone else at Vito's saying their policy is to not refund so they could either send us pepperoni to put on the pie ourselves (!!) or a whole new pie. After some back and forth, we agreed to just take the new pie. In the meantime, which was 30min, my children who were waiting for the pepperoni ate some of the plain slices. At 840, the doorbell rang and the driver handed over the pepperoni pizza and said "my boss wants the other pie back" to which my husband responded "the kids were hungry so they started eating". The driver shook his head and walked away. What a disgusting display from a so-called neighborhood pizzeria. First of all, why didn't the person on the phone say they wanted the other pie back? Secondly, what were they going to do with the other pie? Was it going to go to someone else's house who ordered a plain? Might I add, this was the second time we ordered from here TODAY alone. When I moved back to Lawrenceville, the search was on to find a great pizza place. Vito's seemed to fit the bill. Lately, the quality of the pizza has gone down hill. Last night, we picked up what was basically a flat cardboard circle sprinkled with a bit of cheese and tomato sauce. This is completely unacceptable. I should have looked at it, but I was coming back from a trip and the family was hungry. We called it in, picked it up, and came home to this. Vito's Pizza at the corner of N. Main and W. Delaware in the heart of Pennington, NJ, looks nice enough and has friendly staff, but it failed to make a good first impression. I stopped in for a light dinner before crossing the river to home in Bucks. Great location and a decent layout for a pizza parlor. I just wanted to try their eggplant parmesan submarine and a slice of regular pie as an app. I found a seat at a small table in the dining room, and watched families coming in and out. Seemed like a wholesome crowd. I could see why Vito's was a popular place. It just may not have been my night, or I made bad choices, but my food wasn't what I hoped. The slice had good firm crust and a balance of sauce and cheese, but was overly salty. The eggplant looked great on the plate, with lots of melted parmesan cheese and red gravy atop that, all cradled in a toasted torpedo roll. My approach to big sammies is to go at them with fork and knife first, to clearly taste the contents and separately chew on the bread afterwards. I found the sliced nightshade heavily breaded to a thickness greater than the encased eggplant. Although sauteed, the coating had little taste, yet overwhelmed the intended star of the show. I couldn't taste anything but sauce and cheese. I took a bite of the roll. It was average, and not worth the calories. I felt the heaviness in my stomach for hours, despite consuming only half. I was meeting some friends for a bike ride on a cold January Sunday afternoon. After the ride, we stopped in Vito's for quick lunch. Vito's is clean and pleasant inside and has a lot of seating. The staff was very friendly and efficient. I was pretty hungry and just went with two slices of the plain cheese pizza. The pizza had very good flavors and the crust was on the thinner side and crispy. It was a not the best pizza I have ever have ever eaten, but still very, very solid. Vito's has hot and cold sandwiches and some salads. It is a really good place to stop by when your in the area and want something fast but decent. Pennington is also a cool little town. 3.5 star for Vitos. read more

Will glady drive 25 minutes from New Hope to get Vito's pizza. One of my favorites is the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Thinly sliced chicken, mozzarella, bleu cheese and the oh so tangy Buffalo sauce. I prefer their Plain to any other pizza in the area too. It's what I think of when I think "pizza party". Cheesy goodness. If you are there to order slices, get the Buffalo French Fry. French fries are coated in Buffalo sauce then spread across the pizza and topped with bacon, cheddar cheese and ranch dressing. If this combination was on a shoe, I'd eat it. Their sandwiches are really good too. My go to is the Vodka Chicken. It's topped with mushrooms and Swiss cheese, smothered in vodka sauce - served in a fresh, house made focaccia. Overall, the food is fresh and palatable, so I keep coming back for more. read more

Vito's grew up with me, or rather I with it. When I was younger, Vito's was always a treat after a long day of school. Barely able to peer over the counter, a couple of slices of cheese pizza and powdered sugar zeppoles were perfect. Covered in white stickiness, and grease stains painted on my clothes - Vito's was the best. A couple of years later, growing into myself and everything else - Vito's was the cool hang out. I'd cram into a booth and people watch with friends. I'd also by this point, picked up the girly habit of blotting off the grease of my pizza with a napkin. Grease soaked napkins piled next to my vegetable pizza and water - Vito's still hit the spot. Spring break from College; when I returned to visit my family - Vito's was the obvious choice, as soon as I got of the plane. Their gourmet buffalo chicken pizza, topped with blue cheese dressing - and lots of garlic was a new hit. The menu had definitely expanded alot since elementary school, as well as Vitos. No more napkin blotting. Bootilicious blared on the radio, as I ate. Years later, a college graduate - a trip to Vito's would be the result of a lost Poker game. Armed with 200 dimes; - I traipsed down to Vito's, intending to purchase a large pepperoni pizza - for the Poker Champion - my brother Owen. The same pizza guys were there. There were even faces I recognized from middle school retrieving their take-out. It was all so strange and unfamiliar, yet strangely so familiar. And then, as I basked in the nostalgia of it all, I was promptly awakened by a thick Italian accent: "Excuse me miss - I'm cool with the 200 dimes and all; but you're short 34 cents." Damn you Owen. Whenever I am in Hopewell I have pizza at Vitos! Vitos is, in my opinion the flagship pizza place of the town. They have excellent Grandmas/Old Fashion pizza, with the thick slice and sauce on top of the cheese. Tried their rice balls, so delicious! And the prosciutto sandwich, with cheese, spinach onions and balsamic, oh, you would think you have died and gone to Parma! The place can get busy for lunch and taken over by highschool crowd, but dont let that stop you from going. They expanded their building a while back and can handle a crowd. 2017-update, still amazingly consistent. Recently I've really enjoyed the Jersey Strong salad. A gigantic Jersey tomato and cucumber salad with oregano, Croutons and small cubes of Parmesan. I could eat one of these every day of the summer! read more

Came here on a recommendation from a friend who is a Pennington-ite? I liked the atmosphere of Vito's. It was comfy and cozy. I also ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich on my friend's recommendation. The sandwiches they have are served on their own baked ciabatta bread. Vito's also has many different types of pizza from Sicilian to Chicago Deep Dish. The sandwich took a bit to get made, but it was probably due to the amount of phone-in orders since I got there just before lunch. The sandwich was delicious. Soft, tender, juicy chicken, yummy cheese, creamy blue cheese, moderate spiciness, and a tasty ciabatta roll. I'm definitely coming back here again if I happen to be around. I almost didn't come to Vito's because I was tired and it seemed like a long drive from Ewing. Boy am I glad I did. Very friendly staff to start with. They were busy and I was staring at the menu trying to figure out what I wanted. No one rushed me. The person behind the counter answered all my questions, gave me recommendations, and let me take my time. The salad was just what I needed after eating road food for the past couple of days. The pizza was terrific. Great combinations for toppings. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if it came from a brick oven. That is the only reason I didn't give them 5-stars. If I could do four and a half I would. Lastly, it had that small town local pizza joint feel. I swear the counter staff knew everyone that walked through the door. Great little town too. I wish I could have spent more time in town to explore. read more

I've known Nate since I was a teenager going into the Hamilton Square shop. I remember when he opened the shop at Kings Fairground and then Pennington. I hope Nate and the family are well. I don't know if the heavy set kid working there today is part of the family or just a worker, but his customer service sucks. My wife and I were waiting on sandwiches. I was eating a slice of pizza. I asked this kid if they could bring the sandwiches outside because we wanted to sit outside. He tells me they'll leave them on the counter. I wasn't in the mood to be confrontational, so I let it slide. I left a $5.00 tip when I paid the bill. For what? So they could do their job and make our food? Don't be an idiot kid. First time here this weekend. I had HALF of Italian cheesesteak, an order of fries and a beverage. I think I paid $12 after tax. It wasn't just ok. It was wonderful. It was enormous. Sandwich was piping hot. Bread was toasty. Meat was lean and plentiful. Fries were generous and crispy (those were not quite hot so I assume the timing of my two food items could have been better- hence the absence of a fifth star). I will be trying other things on the menu anytime I find myself close to Pennington anytime remotely close to a mealtime. read more
