Great pizza - 4 stars!…read more How can you resist trying pizza from a company with a rocket logo and a big cartoon pizza with a cute Chijuajua face in the middle? I know I couldn't resist. I hunted them down tonight at Aegir Brewing in Elk River. I ordered 2 pizzas, one to eat at the brewery and one for later. I got two because I had a feeling they'd taste great. And I wasn't disappointed. I got the "Dude Man" and the "Cool Man". Despite the name, the cool man had some yummy spicy heat - yow! I love some heat. Good stuff. Both pizzas had a nice wood fired mottling on the crust. I could taste a generous amount of high grade Mozzarella Cheese. There were some nice little details too, like a light drizzle of honey on the crust...savory with a hint of sweet...a nice touch. My only (minor) criticism is both crusts were doughy and floppy, a little undercooked. They only needed an extra minute or two on the heat. I'm willing to cut them some major slack, however, because it was only 17 degrees. They were cooking everything under an open air tent canopy and they were all wearing winter puffer coats. Wow, the Red Rocket crew is dedicated and tough - they're definitely native Minnesotans! Red Rocket is pretty new and they told me a food trailer is on order and being built-out right now. Stop by if they're in your area. You won't be disappointed. Thumbs up! -Maxx

Flavor and texture wise it's a really solid pizza, I would definitely recommend it. It was so filling and cheesy. We also tried the red and white wine. They have outdoor and indoor seating, which is a big plus in the summer. Some of the reasons: why I am not giving it a 5/5. It's because we waited a close to 50 minutes for the pizza. And the pizza is definitely more on the pricey side, which I am okay with, but I think waiting that long for one is too much.

They make a wonderful butter crust deep dish pizza that is smothered in toppings. We decided to go simple - with pepperoni. The amount of pepperoni they put on this pizza was amazing! Let me back up though, we started with an order of cheesy garlic bread donuts. What could be wrong with that combination? They arrived and were the size of golf balls. So garlicky, so cheesy, so yummy! I will admit, it was a rather long wait for the pizza and I was starting to feel a little hangry but when it arrived, it was worth every minute of the wait. So delicious and filling . One piece was all any of us could eat. Was just as wonderful the second day. The inside of this place is charming. An old Mario video game kept our 7 year old entertained. The music was a little loud and hard to hear over but this is clearly a place that neighbors know and love. We will certainly be back to try other items....or maybe stick with what we already know and love. The best part? You are right around the corner from Nellie's and everyone knows that ice cream fills in all the cracks after a good meal! If you are looking for a great neighborhood experience, I highly recommend Mario's!

I came here for lunch... then again a few days later! Lol. Atmosphere/Appearance: Located in what I thought was Excelsior, is actually Tonka Bay right off of some water is this gem. It's in a plaza with a few other businesses and a part of a private parking lot. The inside isn't too crazy. You walk in and you are greeted by grand smells of pizza cooking in their huge steel ovens! The menu is overhead and the dining area is to the left. I remember a lot of exposed wood, plastic benches and just a classic looking pizza joint. Service: I can't remember the young lady's name, but Sydney or Candace come to mind. Lol. Whoever it was that took care of us was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. However, all you do is just place your order at the counter, take the number they give you and go sit down then wait for you food to be brought out to you. Drinks are self-serve as well. Food: Throughout my visits I've had the chance to check out 3 of their wing flavors and a couple of toppings on their pizzas. The wow factor here is about big the slices are. They literally don't even fit onto a single plate. The edges hang over rim of the plate. Lol. So for lunch you can order the pizza + salad combo and it totally fills you up. The wings are also enormous and quite delicious I might add! I'd definitely get them again. Cajun and the Buffalo were my favorite, but the BBQ wasn't too bad either. Value: A single order of wings will give you 6 and it'll cost you $10.00. Double your order for $16.50. Like I mentioned, they wings are huge so I think this is a pretty good value. Any time a day you can get a cheese slice + salad + drink for only $12.50. Toppings will cost extra of course. In conclusion, I loved this place. However, coming for lunch and eating heavy makes for a slow rest of the work day. Lol. I ain't trippin' though, sometimes that's what's necessary!

Its become some sort of weird storage area which is such a shame. You can tell this place really used to be the place to go for a slice. That did kinda detract from the experience. This feels like it's somebody's little dream or hobby project. They make the pizzas with love and care, expect it'll be about 20 minutes, more if they're busy. That isn't long but it feels long when you're hungry! On the other hand, they're perfect little pies, a good meal for a hungry person or strong snack for two. They are also DELICIOUS. I loved their mushroom white pie in particular, very strong herb and garlic notes atop the umami and crispy crust. The wine is fancy for a dive bar atmosphere, and that was super fun. The bottle prices are much better than the glass/ tap, if you want more than one glass you may as well buy the bottle and take leftovers home. The price is steep, nearly $70 for two pies and a bottle of wine, but that's what staff and rent cost in this district. That puts them in a weird space -- they're not family friendly bc no space, they're too expensive to be a weekly thing, but they're not fancy enough to be a splurge. Enjoy while you can, I'm worried this place may not last.

Their specialty is interesting variety of elevated pizzas baked on a cracker thin crust. The restaurant has modern aesthetics with a small indoor dining room w/ a party room and a patio area. I liked the modern setup and the lighting inside and outside the building. My party and I came here for their pizzas as they were highly recommended. The restaurant was somewhat busy but we got a table right away. We sat indoors although patio area was considered. Our server was friendly and helpful. Their food menu had a nice variety of pizzas. Their drinks menu had a nice selection of beers (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). I knew what pizza I wanted to try as it was a recommendation from the party we came with. It was the 'Smokey'. We took a bit longer to order as we were trying to come up with a second pizza to complement 'Smokey'. We decided on the 'Diesel'. Our order included an Italian salad, an 18" Smokey, a 12" Diesel, a kids meal of spaghetti with marinara sauce, and a few beverages. The Smokey was roasted pulled pork, pickles, fresh jalapeños, red onions, cheese, and bbq sauce. The Diesel had pepperoni, fresh Jalapeno, spicy Arbol chile red sauce. The pepperoni was the charred cup kind. We also asked for honey on the Diesel. The food came out promptly starting with the salad, then the Smokey and followed by the Diesel. Everything was fresh and delicious. The salad hit the spot. The house Italian dressing on the salad was light and refreshing. Both the pizzas were flavorful and delicious. My favorite was the Smokey. It had everything I wanted in a great tasting pizza. Starting with the thin and crispy crust (which was perfect and held the toppings firmly), the Smokey's toppings came together for a strong flavor profile. I loved the pairing of pulled pork, pickles, jalapeños, red onions, and bbq sauce. I couldn't stop eating it. But I had to have the Diesel too. Diesel was perfect with its charred cup pepperoni, jalapeños, and spicy Arbol chile sauce. The honey added a bit of sweetness to complement the flavor but I prefer hot honey over regular. We had a great filling meal and enjoy our dinner at this pizzeria. Additionally, we had their house baked chocolate chip cookies and they were scrumptious. Soft, chewy goodness. I definitely recommend this pizzeria to anyone who enjoys good, delicious pizza with good service in a nice atmosphere setting. Check them out.
