I've been training with Jamie at Vita Cors for about a year now and I cannot recommend him enough! He is an exceptional teacher: he's kind, supportive, and really cares about helping his clients. Thanks to Jamie, I'm now stronger and healthier than I've ever been in my entire life. It is insane how much effort Jamie puts into what he does. Each week, Jamie crafts a workout plan for me based on my progress and goals: our workouts are personalized for me and no workout is ever the same. During workouts, Jamie pushes me to my limit, but does so in a way that is patient and supportive. He also pays close attention to my form and gives me clear guidance on how I can improve (and keeps track of issues I'm having across multiple workouts). On the side, Jamie has also given me lots of useful advice on how to improve my diet and life generally -- thanks to his advice, I've lost nearly 10 pounds of fat and gained a lot of muscle! Even more impressively, Jamie will never miss a session, no matter what else is going on with him. He even continued with our sessions when he broke his foot at the beginning of this year and couldn't walk: he just got on crutches and kept coming into the gym! He's truly dedicated to what he does and gives it 100% every day. On top of all of this, the Vita Cors gym is an amazing place to train: it's always super clean and tidy and has literally every single piece of equipment you will need for any kind of workout. Jamie and Layne are also constantly adding new items and pieces of equipment to the gym, so the gym always has a state-of-the-art feel to it. In short, Jamie is an excellent trainer and, more importantly, a good person. He's in this business because he really cares about helping others. Highly recommend him! read more

Best of the BEST! I recently signed up for their personal training sessions and couldn't be happier with the investment. The owners have a solid philosophy around fitness and wellness. During my consultation, they asked many questions about what brought me to their gym, my short/medium/long-term goals, previous injuries, and my nutrition/eating habits. They provided specific recommendations for our training plan moving forward. They never failed to ask me for my thoughts and opinions on any topic we touched upon. I had my first training session with Jamie today - I felt challenged in all the right ways. Jamie has a background in kinesiology/physical therapy which I appreciated SO MUCH. He incorporates this knowledge into the workout and how he guided me through it. He recommended specific, small tweaks to improve my movement through various exercises - pure gold! Also, the private gym set up they have is very nice. Quiet, chill, organized, aesthetically pleasing - perfect to facilitate focus during my workout and minimize overstimulation. Lastly, never did I feel an inkling of judgment or a critical eye while working with them. Rather, there was a constant expression of support and encouragement, which creates the best environment for me to challenge myself, reintroduce habits that I've put aside due to a busy work/school life, and introduce new habits that support a healthy lifestyle. I have a feeling that I'll have good results with them. read more

Jayme and Layne changed my life. I have been in the best shape that I have ever been since starting training with them. They are so good at focusing on my needs and tailoring the training experience to my goals. The facility is fantastic as well. I also enjoy their company as much if not more than I enjoy the training. Wish I could give 6 stars! read more

I am somewhat of a novice when it comes to working out in a proper gym. Jamie is an excellent teacher, showing me the proper techniques for the exercises and telling me what muscle groups they are targeting. He demonstrates them in a way that is easy to understand and replicate, and is always encouraging with positive reinforcement. He tracks the exercises done in each session in the fitness app so I can go back and look at what we've done to replicate it in the future. The Vita Cors gym itself has nice, new equipment and is always clean/sanitized between sessions. Jamie and Layne clearly put a lot of thought into the set up and design. Highly recommend! read more

Layne is an amazing, motivating trainer! She pushes me to do more than I thought I possibly could, and I am becoming stronger than I ever thought was possible! Highly recommend! read more

During the pandemic, Layne has helped me SOO much with physical and emotional training. She customizes each personal training session based on your needs. Here is an example: I had two injuries in the past (knee and ankle) that I wanted to recover from. Layne planned out each session based on my needs and each week, she would re-evaluate. I can tell she puts a lot of thought and care into each client because she remembers the small details and applies them to the next session. There were MANY times when I came with low energy, but she always knew how to lead the course so I don't give up. After 1 year of consistent training with Layne, I was able to test out my knee and ankle in Hawaii. After 5 hours of intense hiking, I never felt so STRONG! I was so happy to see the result. I highly recommend Layne to those who are looking for someone who cares about their physical and mental health. I resume taking her sessions because it's now part of my lifestyle. read more

Thanks to Vita Cors, I actually look forward to working out. The owners, Jamie & Layne, are a husband & wife duo that have transformed their Pasadena home garage into a beautiful, full-functioning gym. They've been a game changing alternative to public gyms for me, especially during covid, as I no longer have to deal with crowds, germs, and long wait times. Their equipment is new, clean, and it's clear from the moment you step foot in their garage that they take great pride in offering a high-quality experience to their clients. During my workouts, Layne pushes me just enough so that I walk away feeling my best. She actively listens to my needs and tailors our workouts to specifically target those areas, throwing in fun new exercises along the way to keep things interesting. I've also come to learn that she's an amazing baker, so I love chatting about nutrition and healthy recipes with her after workouts. I really can't say enough great things about Vita Cors, their energy is incredibly welcoming, they're flexible with their hours (great for the working moms), and they'll meet you at your level no matter where you're starting from. I highly recommend to all! read more

VITA CORS - Layne and Taryn 2021 - Trainers Near Me - Pasadena, California

I highly highly recommend working out with Vita Core! I've been training since December with Jaime and Layne for a 500+ mile bike ride this summer, and this is the first time in a gym environment that I feel like I'm really learning how and what to do. I love that Jaime and Layne are both focused on health and longevity as opposed to aesthetics as a primary goal. They are so patient and encouraging, but they also challenge me to improve...a lot! Whether you're just getting started or already know the ropes, these folks are just the best. read more

It's easy to tell when somebody loves what they do, and Jaimie and Layne are the precise case of just that. When you walk through the door you're warmly welcomed and asked about any injuries or specifics you want to work on. I've been to a few classes here: not only are the coaches fun to be around the community they've built here is awesome and inviting. Onto the work out: we went through 3 rounds of deadlifts and presses, then switched moves to chin ups, jumping lunges and pushups. To finish, we used bands just over our legs for duck walks (squat and walk) and side stepping with the bands. The killer - that I couldn't accomplish - was a gymnastics style move, holding a tuck on rings. I was mercifully given a move to work the triceps instead :) Because each class is kept at a low cap, each person receives strong attention to detail from the coaches. Little tweaks that haven't been pointed out elsewhere have been recognized here to make a huge difference in the muscles I'm working. Love this hidden gem!! read more

Since settling down in the San Gabriel Valley area two years ago, I've been bouncing around from bootcamp to bootcamp, to get a sense of what is available in the area, and also what is conducive to my daily routine. Some were a bit far, some were too crowded, and some were a bit.. pretentious, it didn't feel like an inviting place to work out. Then I came across Vita Cors. I've been doing the small group classes with Jamie and Layne for a month and it's been such a great experience. I can honestly say that I've never been a part of a fitness community where I really, genuinely felt the trainers cared for each and every one of their clients. The subtleties of a casual conversation regarding work, or weekend activities, the latest gossip, the conversations are diverse and inclusive. They really do get to know each and every person that steps through their doors. The workouts themselves are always different, fun, and challenging. As Jamie and Layne gets more familiar with each of their clients, they are able to adapt to each person and adjust the difficult and level of guidance accordingly. They always have the appropriate weights set up ahead of time so there is no waiting around, nor do you have to run around getting whatever equipment you need for the exercise. Definitely would recommend to anyone, of any level to give Vita Cors a try. Cheers! read more

I first heard of Vita Cors through a friend who has been a client for almost a decade. As someone who has always struggled with being consistent with working out, I knew I needed to find a professional to help me to become more disciplined with keeping up with taking back my physical health. What I didn't expect to find was community and mental support with every session that I walk into. Jamie is a professional that carefully tailors individual workouts to fit your goals and needs, but lovingly pushes you a bit further because he believes that there's always just a little bit more in each and every one of us. Both he and Layne light up the room every time I come in and consistently feed me positive energy and support with every rep, every pull, and every pull. When I first came to Vita Cors, my goal was to "lose weight" and wanting to become more in tune with my body. What Jamie has helped me to shape is not only a positive attitude towards fitness and health, but these days I am just in awe of how the human body is able to take on so much physically. Not only that, but Jamie and Layne do take the time to talk about my life and consistently ask how else can they support me both in and out of the gym. For that, I'm eternally grateful. It's a steady journey but I feel revitalized with my life long journey into fitness and I honestly can't wait to come in now thinking "how much MORE can I do today?" And if I can't, that's okay! If I'm just even 1% better than the last session, that's leaps and bounds than where I was just a year ago! I honestly thought I would just learn a few exercises, work the weights to the best of my knowledge, and then go sign up for a commercial gym. Maybe I will, but for now I will continue to go to Vita Cors because I love the support they give me! I cannot recommend Vita Cors high enough!! read more

At the beginning of 2020, I started to take my fitness goals seriously. I gained 50 lbs. from my pregnancy and it was difficult for me to lose the last 15 lbs. My goal was to simply get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. As a working mom with a one year old son and a nine to five job, it was really challenging to find the time to workout.  I met Jamie and Layne at Vita Cors in February and taking their personal training sessions and small group classes have been the best decisions I made in my fitness journey. Not only did I lose 10 lbs. within three months (during COVID-19 era) by taking their classes, but because of Jamie and Layne's philosophy, knowledge, passion, and mentorship in sustaining a healthy lifestyle helped me tremendously. I achieved my goal by consistently training and eating more wholesome food. I really have to thank them for their constant check-ups and making their strength and conditioning classes challenging, tailored fit, dynamic and fun. Currently, I am taking their live online classes (via zoom) with my toddler hanging out beside me. He does not mind watching mom working out (sometimes he joins in on the fun), but he definitely throws a fit when I start my real job and sees me on the keyboard. Lol. As personal trainers/instructors, they are always prepared with workout equipment (in-person sessions) and routines (even if an exercise needs to be adjusted due to certain individual's capability/injury), teaches you the fundamental and technical aspects of an exercise, personable and empathetic, and they genuinely care about their clients. I have never felt pressured to buy packages from them (as we all do when we go to regular gyms) and I also thought they handled the COVID-19 pandemic fluidly and professionally by moving to online courses and not risking our health by returning to gyms during the re-opening phase. I am happy to be back to my old self and I feel a lot stronger than before, both physically and mentally. I am obsessed with strength training and I know Vita Cors will help me achieve my new fitness goals. I definitely recommend having Jamie and Layne as your strength and conditioning coaches. read more

Whether you're new to exercise or have been active and working out for a long time, Jamie at Vita Cors will find the right programming that will push you to do your best. I found this on Classpass while I was visiting the 626 area for a few weeks, and I've loved the training sessions ever since I had my first one. I'm sad to leave this awesome workout! I've been taking the Small Group Personal Training sessions. Jamie and Layne get to know every single client and their goals. Although you'll be working out with around 3-6 people, each class is geared towards meeting an individual's goals. Jamie will push you to lift heavier and challenge yourself, yet will make sure you're doing it with the right form. At the end, you'll realize that you can do so much more than you expected. The workout is a functional, full body circuit -- different every session -- that's programmed to train each part of your body. I love the flow of each class. We work towards strength (squats/deadlifts/pullups/bench press), conditioning (jump lunge, jump squats), and functional movements (my new favorite - sledgehammer!!). I already feel stronger in the 2 weeks that I've been training. On top of that, Vita Cors has grown a great community of folks interested in health and fitness. Other clients in the class are very welcoming and makes you feel like you've known them for a long time. This has everything awesome about group workouts and I can't rave about Jamie and Layne more. I look forward to every single workout and I highly, highly recommend Vita Cors to anyone! read more

I found Vita Cors through ClassPass, and this has been one of my go to spots for strength training. Jamie is very knowledge and makes adjustments to anyone who is injured or has medical conditions. He really tries his best to gently motivate, yet isn't annoyingly aggressive like some other trainers. I highly recommended Vita Cors! read more

I have been working with Vita Cors for the past six weeks. I have lost three inches around my waist within this timeframe! Every workout has been challenging and carefully thought out to work on my "problem areas". I train with both Jamie and Layne. Both are professional, knowledgeable, encouraging and overall great people. The facility is super clean and the weights and machinery are super nice! I appreciate the 1:1 ratio (I do privates) and the attention to detail Vita Cors displays every session. COVID info: they require their clients to be vaccinated and both trainers will wear masks when working with their clients. I appreciate their COVID sensitivity so much! I've been looking for a training facility that checks all my boxes and finally found Vita Cors. read more

I have been with Vit Cirs for over a year! My trainer is Jamie and I can't say enough about him and how he has helped me change my life! I have two bad knees and I have a walker! when I first came to him I could not do anything! He has worked with me and now I am so much more stronger and Mobil! We are on a journey together to be able to get my knee replacements! He goes far and beyond to help you and takes the time to see what fits your needs! My son and my neighbor also go to them and both are doing great! read more

We started training with Vita Cors in January 2023. Mark found Vita Cors online and inquired about coming to our home gym for training - once we saw the Vita Cors gym and the ability for two of us to co-train with enough space, we quickly decided to use the fully equipped gym they designed. We moved forward with Jamine and Layne because they customized our sessions based on what we wanted to accomplish. Our focus was on strength, balance and overall health benefits as we are aging. We have seen the effects of "not moving" as you grow older and wanted to take specific action in order to continue to do the outdoor activities we love. We have always exercised, both in gyms & at home - we have found that the knowledge they have and expertise in "how" to accomplish specific training goals far surpasses anything we've ever done. If you want a comfortable, efficient, made to order health plan, get started with Vita Cors. read more

I have been a VITA CORS client since May 2018 and I will say it was the best decision I have made for myself. My goals: to rebuild healthful habits that I lost touch with while obtaining new ones, to better my strength, stamina, flexibility, form and to incorporate staying active slowly but surely into my life as a positive source of energy on a daily basis. VC has helped me by weekly challenging my physical abilities at my own pace, I stay connected with myself about what my body needs as fuel because of what I do during my sessions with VC. I appreciate the art form of my own body and with that in mind, VC has helped me complete every movement in proper form which makes every exercise uniquely likable. Having Jamie Wang as a personal trainer has been a great journey thus far. He is knowledgeable in his craft, flexible, mindful of your fitness and wellness goals, motivating, knows when to challenge you to push further, keeps the workout routines interesting and according to your goals, professional in running his business, and his positive energy makes me do my best and beyond. I am at peace with where I started, where I am now and where I will be as I continue on with VC. read more

I have been working with Vita Cors (both Jaimie and Layne) for over a year and I discovered them by chance through ClassPass. I have loved their workouts so much that when ClassPass stopped working with them, I ditched ClassPass and have had the most meaningful fitness journey! I have numerous old sports injuries and VitaCors personalizes workouts and gives direct attention to ensure that I'm building a strong body and able to show up for my future workouts. I am now overall much stronger than I have ever been thanks to Layne and Jamie and our ability to build fitness programs that are sustainable. If you are looking for trainers who are passionate about what they do, knowledgeable and great human beings, Jaime & Layne are where it's at. I would personally strongly recommend Vita Cors to any friends and family looking for a trainer. I'm hooked! read more

I LOVE Vita Cors! I'm in my 40's and never was good at regularly working out or taking care of my body aside from walking my dogs and eating healthy. I joined over a month ago because I had it with feeling like my strength and physical abilities were declining and I was afraid of worsening my knee injuries. First its a clean, well-laid out gym space. Second Layne and Jamie are such good, kind-hearted people! A must for me. They were just what I wanted in terms of coaches who were personable, competent, and could easily adapt to curate the training I personally needed in order to work with and remedy the injuries I'm facing. I really needed coaching that was kind, firm and could effectively cheerlead me so that I would not only enjoy the work out but also want to keep coming back. In the short amount of time I've been there, I am so much stronger, have gained a better understanding of what works for my body and how to work out without further injuring myself, and have way more optimism about what I can physically achieve with maintaining these workouts. My hub joined shortly after me and has also been loving and appreciating his workouts with Vita Cors. read more

I'd say that Vita Cors offers one of the best workouts, ever. The exercises are always challenging and new, it never gets boring, and time flies. I think what sets Vita Cors apart are the owners/trainers, Jamie and Layne. They are both super friendly and they take the time to get to know each of their clients -- I'm always amazed at how much they remember about everyone, including the amount of weight he/she should lift and adjustments to exercises to suit individual fitness needs. There's a sense of community here, which makes working out that much easier and more enjoyable. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Thanks to Vita Cors, I've become the biggest fan of personal trainers. Seriously, this duo has taken me to a whole new level of physical fitness. Their expertise and personal attention have reminded me that I have muscles in places I didn't even know about. And even though I have a shoulder injury from an old biking accident, they have found exercises and drills that help me to build strength and stamina while protecting the parts that don't feel so great. I feel so lucky that I found them through ClassPass! read more

I have had the weirdest relationship to fitness throughout my life. I viewed working out as something that I had to do to 'get the extra weight off'. I also had a couple of bad experiences with personal trainers- one who promoted disordered eating and another who was *very* sexual with me. After years of forcing myself to do workouts I hated and the super-bro trainers, I swore off working out and going to the gym. Fast forward- I met Layne & Jamie, not through any gym affiliation. I immediately loved them and we became friends. I made my stance on working out and fitness known. I explain that I think there is a negative culture surrounding gyms/fitness and that it is unhealthy, and they AGREED! They listened empathetically and told me that they both had issues with the way the fitness industry works. After a couple years of friendship I decided to try their classes to, you know, be a good friend and support their business. And guess what, y'all? I freaking loved the workouts. They are the perfect mixture of challenging and fun. Layne & Jamie are so kind, but know when to push you. They have very realistic and healthy goals for clients. For the first time in my life, I can picture a future where I work out regularly. And also, I look damn good right now (for real, these workouts have changed my body). You all should hop on the Vita Cors train before I become a mega celeb and have them on a retainer. read more

In addition to foundational moves, you can also have fun hitting tires with a sledgehammer or do some hurdle jumps. read more

I've known Jamie for about 5 years now, and have trained on and off with him. He makes you feel very comfortable even when you have any trouble doing an exercise or two, pushes you and finds an easier yet still challenging way to make sure you don't over do it. I've recently started training with him again but this time with what is now Vita Cors, and have met his partner Laney, super cool and she even works out with you for an extra push sometimes! They make a wonderful team, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone trying to get, stay or become a better, stronger version of themselves. Also, their group classes are super affordable! If you can afford one on one, I reccomend that best. Otherwise the group classes are small and still work the hell out of you! Book a session, you won't regret it! read more

I've been training with Jamie for 10 months now, and I've learned SO MUCH about lifting and my own body. He's great with listening to my needs, listening to how my body responds, and creating comprehensive & challenging training plans based on what I can do to meet my goals. I'm finding my groove again, which feels really good! I've found a new confidence in the gym, and see progress on a weekly basis- which really helps with wanting to stay consistent! He's really great at both pushing me to my limits, but making me feel comfortable and in control of my own pace. He's also an open book and answers any and all questions I may have for him. They're constantly re-investing in their gym set up, to keep workouts new, interesting, hard, and fun! Cannot recommend him and Layne enough! read more

I began small group classes with Jamie in September. I took advantage of their "one week free" offer and haven't regretted it at all! After our initial consultation, he totally supported and understood my goals to develop a more healthy lifestyle and improve my eating habits. He's also sensitive to my physical limitations and, while he doesn't let me get away with slacking, he's quick to offer modifications. Oh, and if you're consistent, you will definitely see results in your physical appearance and in your improved conditioning & strength. If you need help achieving or maintaining your health and fitness, VITA CORS will not disappoint! read more

This fitness duo is unstoppable! They build such strong relationships with their clients and truly listen about goals, strengths, and challenges. I've been attending Jamie's small group training sessions for about two months now.  I originally discovered Vita Cors through Classpass, but I ended up liking it so much that I canceled my Classpass membership and signed up through Vita Cors directly!  The classes are circuit workouts incorporating strength training with free weights and other gym equipment as well as conditioning exercises, and they are different every time and tailored to each participant's fitness level.  They are appropriate for all levels of fitness and experience, and Jamie will happily make modifications to various exercises as-needed based on each person's goals and abilities. Jamie keeps the classes small so he is able to give personal feedback and instruction to everybody -- the maximum class size is 6 but the largest I've attended so far was 3.  On a few occasions I've even had the class all to myself!  Jamie is friendly, welcoming, and encouraging throughout every session, and I always leave sweaty and excited to come back! read more

I've been regularly attending the small group training sessions with Jamie and really glad I found a new spot to improve my strength, form, and endurance. I found them via Class Pass and knew I would be back after my first class. What I really like is their approach to how they do class. Although they are group classes, they are limited to a small group of 3-5 people max. It's almost like a personal training session, as Jamie tailors the workouts and repetitions to each person's goals and/or limitations. Jamie and Layne are very down to earth, and focus on positively motivating you during your session. If loud bootcamp style instructors are your thing, you may not like this class. Think guided meditation, but for strength and conditioning. You won't be pressured to move from one circuit to another as fast as you can, but they won't stand in your way if you do want to pick up the pace or make a move more intense/use a heavier weight, as long as it's safe. Jamie will always demonstrate the moves and check your form, offering immediate corrections if something is uncomfortable or potentially unsafe. I am glad they are in my neighborhood so I have no excuse to not put in some good hard work to earn the thanks of my future self. read more

They offer the best online strength training/HIIT experience. I've taken A LOT of classes and no one else compares. They tailor the workouts to each person and offer modifications to those who need them. The trainers are fantastic and the community of people who show up are great especially during this pandemic. read more

I have been a Vita Cors client for the last 3 months and cannot recommend it enough! Jamie Wang is an amazing personal trainer. He's super knowledgeable and supportive, and takes the time to explain what each exercise he teaches does for a particular muscle or muscle group. I began training with little to no knowledge of any basic exercises. Through our sessions, Jamie's really helped me learn foundational exercises, focusing on Bench Press, Bar Squats, Lat Pull-downs, Bicep Curls, Deadlifts, and many more. Jamie's also been really diligent about tracking my progress: he takes body measurements at regular intervals, and sends me notes after each session about how I can improve on the exercises I did. And he's also always full of knowledge on the best diet to have to ensure maximal muscle growth. As a result of training, I've seen a good amount of muscle growth, and can already lift 3-4 times what I could when I started. I'm super excited for the progress that lies ahead! read more

I have been training with Jamie for a year. He is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely cares about his clients' health and wellbeing. The workouts are always specific to your level and your goals. He is extremely attentive, encouraging, and makes working out fun! The training sessions are always different which is great because I get bored quickly. I'm in decent physical shape but really need the push and focused workouts. With the private training sessions, you are able to take any of his small group classes which he sometimes leads with his wife. The small group classes are practically like private sessions with the amount attention and tailored workouts you get! read more

The minute I walked in I was impressed that Jamie asked about any injuries and from that point on he remembered and catered work outs to my capabilities.
