I'm going to be completely honest. i love vista mar been coming here many times for dinner, however the brunch truly disappointed me. the food was not great it was cold and was not worth my buck. the unlimited sangria/mimosa was watered down so much it tasted like water. my table of 17 was truly disappointed we left hungry and not feeling the drinks. I would not recommend the brunch (not worth the money) but dinner there is amazing. staff was amazing and the dj! shout out to the hookah prob made the 90 mins worth something. read more

I usually come here with my cousin in the summer because of the vibe and just the nice location. Was here when restaurants were fully open during COVID so dining was done outside. They set up the tables in the parking lots covered by umbrellas and there was a speaker playing music. The business really adapted as best it could during the pandemic. I will definitely say though the tables could be distanced a little bit better. They still were close. I got a lobster, steak, and fried plantain. That steak was A1. It was cooked so well that it melted in my mouth. I'm pretty particular with how I like my steak, so it's easy to mess it up for me, but this steak was delicious. It wasn't tough (literally). This place gets packed and if the dj is there it gets lit! I'm talking hookah, dancing, partying definitely can give you brunch day party vibes if thats what your looking for! Everyone here is having a good time and enjoying theirselves and that is what makes this place special! On top of that the drinks are flowing. Good place for a celebration, lots of birthdays were happening on a Sunday afternoon. There also was a photographer on site to capture some photos. I ordered the whole red snapper, fried. It came with seafood on the inside that I honestly could have done without, but it came with yucca fries, veggies and what I think was fried smashed yucca that was really good. They stated that they did not have cameras in the parking lot and said "How do we know that the damages wasn't already there. They refused to provide their insurance information. Here for a birthday celebration; and the group placed their food order approximately at 8:30pm and it is now 10:40pm and we are still waiting on our food. Didn't order an appetizer because I assumed my meal would arrived at a good amount of time. I was fooled. This restaurant is not for large parties and a large group of people. I would say there's probably over 100 people in the restaurant and within the group of 25 that I'm a part of, not one of us are eating. The service is horrible. I don't understand why they have one (1) waitress for a large party. She was confused on who gets what food while other people are eating what they order, while the rest is still waiting. The food did come at 10:55. Over 2 1/22 hours of waiting. However, they make sure you get enough alcohol in your system. I would recommend anyone that wants to come here on a weekend not to come, unless you don't mind waiting for a long period of time for your food. Nevertheless, the service is probably better during the week. The entertainment and music is good. Keeps you dancing in your seat. I would rate this establishment a 1/5. read more

I really want to give no stars. Another one and done for me!!! My family and I decided to try to switch it up this New Year's Eve, get dressed up and enjoy a nice dinner out. So, we found this place. Foolish of me to not look into it fully being that we planned 2 weeks ago. This was a prefix menu, one price $100 for adults and $50 for children and the added entertainment they advertised was a bonus, especially since we had 3 children in our group. Sad to say It was an all around disappointment; ARRIVAL: We were seated in a seperate room other than main eating area. The lighting was extremely bright. We asked more than once to dim the lights if possible, nothing. We also double checked to make sure the entertainment they offered would be available for our viewing needs, although they said yes to us, we got to see nothing!!! Thankfully the kids come prepared with tablets & drawing kits to keep them busy. -SERVICE: The waiter was barely available for us after he took our food order. Especially getting a drink. The entire 4hrs there some of us just had one Lychee Martini. Soda and beer orders were forgotten and we had to remind him more than once. We attempted to go to the bar but they were only servicing the waiters needs no individual orders. -FOOD: We ordered about 9ish and food started to come out by about 11:15ish. I had the steak and lobster which both were cold. The lobster was horrible and rubbery. The steak was just ok. Not one person at my table was happy with the food. Other options were fish and paella. Kids had pizza also cold. -HOOKAH should have been available in one area of the restaurant. Not everyone wants to inhale that and it def isnt kid friendly. Understood that NYE can be an insane evening to handle. However, if you are an establishment and this is the type of business you run then PREPARE AND DO BETTER!!! We had our parents 58th anniversary celebration at Vistamar, the staff was unbelievably accommodating for all our last minute changes. Mike was especially helpful! (Always ask for Mike when having an event!) He went above and beyond to make sure the facilities were excepcional. He made sure to check in on us throughout the party and that we had everything we needed. Hats off to the chef, the food was exceptional, all of our guests raved about it! I recently held a birthday party at VistaMar in the smaller private room for 45 people and was very happy with the food and the service. All the guests loved the food which was seafood paella, pernil, arroz con gandules and roast chicken. Everyone raved how delicious the food was. I was also pleased with the service. The waiter and bartender kept checking on every table and bringing the guest fresh glasses of soda, beer, wine -and sangria. Overall we had a very good time and loved the food, drinks and service. We ordered the Alaskan King Crab legs and an order of Steak & Shrimp. For the sides we had mofongo and Maduros. Everything was perfectly seasoned and prepared. My drink never comes out bc at least 2/3 drinks I ordered the bartender could not make.. these drinks were on their menu. Appetizers come out.. everything is wrong. Food comes out... sides are all wrong. The food was not the best.. tasted rushed, stale and over cooked. Def overpriced. No offer to discount and we did complain. I'm big on hospitality. I've worked in many restaurants. I'm always big on managers/owners greeting their guests. This manager did no such thing- you would think he would greet the moms or idk something. Such a nice spot for brunch! Their brunch is all you can eat buffet with unlimited drinks for $40. The food was delicious; not very often buffet food is that good! The drinks were really goid too, the sangrias were strong! The only reason why I am giving them 4 stars is because of the drinks; if you decide to have mimosa as your 1st drink, that is all you can have, you can not switch to another drink. Also, although the service was good, It would have been nice to know what was actually part of the bruch drinks; it was not until we were about to leave that I looked at the menu from another table and saw they had beer as part of the brunch drinks, which is what my dad wanted (we had no nenu of what brunch consisted of and a drinks menu at our table). If you celebrating something special here make sure you got patience. I celebrated my wedding dinner here, I want to say a lot of cons more than pros. I do want to acknowledge the good, got complementary champagne glasses, the space is beautiful and they were helpful in the beginning but once I paid for the space event (which was before the event ) they stop paying attention and disappointed me in many ways. 1.When talking to event manger on Monday ( a few days before my event), I expressed my concerns about the coats for my guest, and was told they will be a room where my guest can do coat check as long as they don't leave any personal items, on the day of the event my guest were told no coat and no closet to hang their coats. 2.When bride and groom arrived no chairs were on our table , table 1 had to give up two chairs to put on the bride and groom table. When telling event manager this issue, she debated with me and said her team set up 49 chairs, clearly there wasn't because we were missing 3 chairs and I was told more than 50 people was here, which I quickly stopped the party and had everyone sit down in their assigned table to prove to the staff there was exactly 50 ppl, including myself and groom. I didn't appreciate when I said "no way a guest of mine took my bride and groom chair" and she replied "believe it they most certainly did because my team set up 49 chairs". I was very bothered by this especially since I'm sharing a big day of my life here at Vistamar, a place that I loved and have been coming to since it was Don coqui to now Vistamar to show my support. I had my groom's family travel from Long Island to share this lovely place on city island. I will Admit I messed up on my part and forgot to count the photographer as number 50, However to avoid any discrepancies during the event I had address this issue to staff around 2pm on the day of the event, which they had time to fix because the event started at 7pm, unfortunately we had to go through that. 3. Another discrepancy was closing the bar at 930, I paid extra for three hours from 730-1030, the issue got resolved almost half hour after 930, event manager did allow the bar to open 20 minutes extra after 1030 for the inconvenience, however I feel like we ended up losing because the event was over 11pm. When The bar closed exactly 930 That was during height of the party which left My guest Dry and confused, personally this an embarrassment to me. 4. For an event space / restaurant they should allow cake to go on the fridge until the event starts right ?! Nope! I brought the cake early and they told me they cannot put my cake in the fridge . Event manager ignored all my concerns and never apologized for any of the inconveniences. read more

Went here this past Monday to celebrate part 2 of my niece's 21st birthday celebration . The overall experience was pretty cool. The captain's name was Mike and despite being almost as young as my Neice, he handled the demands of the young partygoers with ease. Ppl tend to drive past Vistamar due to the idea that the best of city island is further down the strip. Not so much so in my opinion. It's really about how ppl treat you when your paying for the best service possible. I enjoyed the experience and I would advise anyone who new to city island to be open minded when choosing boat rentals and places to dine. Social distancing rules and closures are strictly enforced so please get there before 8pm. The average wait for a table at a restaurant there is 1:45mins. For boat rentals you could be waiting for up to an hour or more if your waiting on a captain. Most of all give yourself enough time to have fun :) read more
