The manager at the Centralia Wa. store is rude she has a bad attitude. I was correcting the store clerk she made a mistake putting my phone number in the computer when the manager came up and said be nice I said I am she said I can kick you out I told her what I thought of her she kicked me out. I have spent hundreds of dollars at that location thru the last 10 yrs. and never had a problem with the previous management. read more

They loaned me a knee scooter for over three months at no cost to me. It was in good condition with a basket. I live by myself, and the knee scooter allowed me to cook and carry things, which was impossible with crutches. read more

They have a 14 day return policy ,they will not go over that policy even for a day! I live an hour and half each way away from them and have a full time job.By the time I was able to make it back to return an item that didn't fit that I paid top dollar for ,it was 3 days past the 14 days .They would not make any exceptions when I explained this to them. read more

it's the rainy season here in Chehalis. No surprise, it happens every year. Thank God we don't have a drought! My husband dropped off a lot of our possessions which were quite expensive. We wanted to donate instead of having an estate sale. How sad that the "employees" were put out. We could have had Goodwill pick up our possessions, easy peasy. Instead we packed everything in our vehicle. Drove to Visiting Nurses, and because it was raining (November Lewis County! Hello!) they were not happy that they had to help unload our donations...in the rain. Makes me wonder if we should have donated elsewhere. How about a thank you Visiting Nurses?! I don't know what the lady who commented 4 months ago is going on about. I'm new to the area and I've donated twice here. First time it was on a Sunday 5 minutes before closing (and yes, it was raining) it was only a bag of items but the nice gentlemen offered to help me grab anymore bags, and then said thanks and wished me a good night. Never ANY problems dropping off donations. As for the store- very friendly employees, organized too. The prices are fair, even good. Compared to the goodwill down the street (talk about expensive) I got brand new old school adidas shoes for $15. :) can't beat that. The folks that work and volunteer here do a fantastic job. One of my favorite thrift stores in the area. Some items are broken and dirty and like all thrift stores now a days, some things are overpriced. BUT!!! I never skip this one when I'm in the area. I've always found something good here. And they have great sales. :) There's a parking lot that's always had a spot open when I come, which is nice for being downtown. It can be difficult to find a cart on some visits, so that's been a small issue but overall- I recommend. The staff has always been so friendly as well. read more

There was a very pleasant gentleman with shoulder link hair that waited on me this time. He was so kind and cared about his job. I snagged a great painting and left with some wonderful pans. It's with a very heavy heart that I write this review. As a Lewis county resident my entire life, I've shopped at Visiting Nurses "Thrift" for over 12 years including the Chehalis store(s)Notice I put thrift into quotations? That's due to the HUGE markup in prices over the last several years. While I understand the need to compete with big box stores and Goodwill while continuing to raise money for their mission, the "thrift" in "thrift store" needs to be dropped from their name. Basically I find these shops to be under-curated antique shops or secondhand flip shops. There is nothing thrifty about dollar store items sold at a markup price, Walmart clearance items priced higher than the original price tag, or vintage items held in the back for the "vintage/antique appraiser" (their words) to come and price items. Old Tupperware is now behind glass cases, previously lit candles are $4.99, quilts are falling apart and marked "as is" for $24.99, children's toys with missing stickers are $7.99, and pajama sets are split up into separates and charged double. I feel for those with fixed incomes -- these prices aren't cutting it for the average Joe to walk in and stock up. I'm all for flipping and resale -- we've all gotta make money -- but usually those who do Etsy, etc clean the items, stage the items, repair the items, ship the items, and remind their customers they are important and valuable. So PLEASE Visiting Nurses take "thrift" out of your business title. read more

I am fiercely possessive of my favorite thrift stores and was hemming and hawing over whether to bring this one to Yelp's attention. Visiting Nurses for a long time was my ideal: - Tucked into an unassuming part of a seldom visited (on my part, any way) town whose large location I imagined to require a Thrift Store Treasure Map - Stocked with an exciting assortment of vintage items not automatically marked up to here, with the ladies' clothes hanging in an enchanted closet so that you feel like you've wandered into a fancy old lady's bedroom - Visiting Nurses! I imagine nurses in capes with red crosses embroidered on the lapels wearing the pointy caps my mum wore in the sixties, gathering in tight bunches in the parking lot I find my greatest thrift store windfalls have taken place my first time in a store, so it feels all magical--my heart races and I kind of start panting. I KNOW. But we're talking treasure! Shift dresses and needlepoint samplers and shoes for my huge feet and beautiful drapes. Provided to me by VISITING NURSES. The first time I went I had to sit down. So it has become my Seattle trek tradition, since it just happens to be roughly at the halfway point and they're open on Sundays and sometimes you just have to stick your nose in a fancy old lady's closet and breathe in all that flower-print polyester. Sadly, the only reason I'm sharing all this is because the Visiting Nurses haven't lavished their usual love and generosity on me the last few times I've been. And they've taken out the fancy old lady's closet and placed the somewhat dwindling vintage stuff on rounders, ruining my fancy old lady fantasy. There are lots of treasures still here, mind, but I think personally my luck has dried out. But maybe you could go! And the visiting nurses will wink at you and bestow their magic! I recently moved to Centralia Wa. and found this thrift store whilst walking around.. they have a large selection of clothing, kitchen items,furniture, odds and ends and probably more than you can imagine ..kids/baby clothes, home decor, bath/kitchen/dining room/bedroom and even garage! I am going today and want to check and see what they may have in outdoor/patio/garden dept. The staff are very kind and courteous and helpful. They have recently opened a new store in Chehalis, Centralia's "twin" city, about six miles south on Market St. Both of these store are easily accessible by bus and WELL WORTH the visit........ read more

My LAST trip to visiting nurses was last fall. While I was standing in line waiting to pay for my items the workers were talking and laughing about a lady that had came to the door asking if she could have some shoes that may not have been good enough to sell but that may have gotten tossed into the trash. It was a typical wet, rainy and cold day in Western Washington. Apparently this woman had no shoes or socks on and may not even had a coat on. I understand that giving one possibly homeless person something may lead to more people coming and asking for help. OH WAIT, isn't this organization for charity? Anyway ... after listening to the workers talk and laugh about the situation, myself and the lady in line behind me asked where this woman was we were going to buy her what she needed. Sadly we couldn't find her. If the workers couldn't or wouldn't help her, we would. It's sad that a charity organization could not help a person when they were asking for it. Even had the workers themselves gotten together and pitched in maybe two dollars each from their own pockets, this woman could have had socks, shoes and a coat. Whatever the reason, the management and workers were cruel and heartless in their talk and finding humor in the womans situation. NEVER again will I walk through a Visiting Nurses Thrift Store door. ~This review was started last winter and I JUST realized I never finished it~ To this day I still have never walked through their doors. read more

I have shopped at this store for over 3 years. I have really noticed within the last year and a half that the items put out in the store are not nearly as good as they used to be. For a while they were checking items on ebay and selling them for what you'd expect to pay online--the prices were absolutely outrageous for a thrift store, especially since these items are donated. read more

I am a frequent thrifter. I enjoy a good bargain and finding an unexpected treasure. I live in the area and I've been shopping at both locations for four years. My first purchase was a mid-century dresser. I don't like shopping there as much as I once did. At the Chehalis location I was overcharged; though I did receive a refund when I told the clerk about it. On another occasion, recently, I wandered into the dressing room at the Centralia location to try on some tops and I was pursued by a clerk who thought I was shoplifting. I've stopped in regularly at least three times a month for four years and enjoyed supporting their charitable organization. It would never occur to me to steal. Needless to say I was embarrassed by the confrontation especially as I was half dressed when the person accosted me. I imagine that theft is problem for them; I would only hope that staff could differentiate between regulars and others. As a consequence of these experiences I don't shop there as often or buy as much. For the sake of the people that they support I would hope that they review their service guidelines and strive for courtesy at all times. read more
