I have been intrigued by the building and this gave me a great reason to go check it out! I am giving this place five stars mainly because of the building itself! It is a great example of historically inspired architecture. It blends in perfectly with the motif and architecture of the historic downtown Grapevine area. The brochures in the visitors center are very organized and cover not only the Grapevine area, but also Fort Worth and Dallas as well. There is a nice working train display in the lobby. Grapevine leans heavily into its railroad history. Right now there is a very large space dedicated to Mayor William D. Tate's Jubilee Celebration of 50 years in office.

This is a great place to stop for information, be it local, or state-wide. There are several large racks with pamphlets on all sorts of great places to visit. It is staffed by friendly and helpful people, that can make recommendations on food, places to stay and things to do. I drop in occasionally, just to see if there is anything new. One of my favorite things to pick up is local maps. Two of my favorites are the "Granbury Cemetery Map" and the "Moments-in-time hike & bike trail" map. The woman at the counter was very welcoming and let me know what they had to offer and events coming up that particular weekend. I was asked to sign the "guest book" it was electronic and asked a few questions that I guess were to better gauge who was passing through town and why. It only took a minute or two. I loved that they had a few rooms set up with history information about Lewisville with pictures and some old memorabilia. They also had a few display cases down the hall with different object and attraction info for each. There was a map along the hall with historic sites, I wish they would have had a paper map that had them all listed for a walking tour. I didn't see one, but maybe I over looked it. They did have quite a few brochures for not only Lewisville but also for the surrounding areas. There were restrooms near the back and even a charging station for your phones up front! The only thing I thought was odd is that it's closed Saturday & Sunday which is typically when visitors are passing through.

Actual charge was 10% over spot/wholsale rate. They advertise heavily on the AMEX name but on the receipt it is Samso's Express Money Transfer, Inc. For a $1,000 I received 700 Euro. If at the actual rate on the Internet I would have received 769 Euro. Personally, I feel like I was ripped off.
