My fiancé and I had a wonderful stay at the Red Gate Inn!! We stayed in the Yellow Rose room and loved it. The hosts were so sweet and accommodating. The home is absolutely beautiful and full of southern charm. Parking was easy and check in was seamless. We got a great tour of the entire home and loved hearing about its history. Thank you Paul & Sharon for sharing your home with us! We hope to be back soon!

This place is amazing. The house has old style charm with all the amenities you need. The staff is super friendly and the breakfast was out of this world. We stayed in the desert rose room and the bed was super comfortable. The grounds are also amazing with lush trees and plenty of room to roam or sit and have a glass wine or a cup of coffee. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a first class B&B. It's close to downtown McKinney and they can even host events.

MOM had a great time! Me too. Melissa and Uncle Paul took great care of us at their RED GATE INN!

What is nicer than having a great breakfast to start your day? What is nicer is having a GREAT breakfast to start your day, made by someone else! MY BIGGEST FAVORITE THING was how wonderful Uncle Paul and Melissa were to my MOM and me. They anticipated our needs, wants, and desires and really focused on us having an awesome experience. They filled us in on fun things to do in McKinney, as well as Dallas. They gave us suggestions, finding yummy meals and entertainment. They checked with us to see if we had any food allergies and made yummy breakfasts every single day (YAY). Other Favorites! 1. Fancy tub 2. First-floor bedroom (we did not have to go up and down stairs), even though they have other beautiful rooms upstairs. 3. Fancy shower 4. "Secure" Wi-Fi (I hate unsecure Wi-Fi - secure Wi-Fi puts me at ease) 5. Peaceful environment (AHHHHH) 6. Nature! Plants, shrubs, trees, wood 7. So yes, I could have rented a house and been the hostess myself, but believe me, THE RED GATE INN, was the best outcome for me. The price was right on target. This vacation was an enjoyable rememberable experience for me and my Mom. 8. I GIVE THE RED GATE INN my highest rating! I give them a 120 on a scale from 0 to 100! Blessings and have a wonderful vacation!

I booked the room -- the Anthony Suite on the top floor -- a year in advance. This place has a decent refund policy with enough advance notice, so if you are considering the Nethery Estate, book early. There are not a lot of rooms here and it appears from the pictures inside of it that groups/families tend to rent all of them for events, so it can fill up quickly. The estate is a nifty place. It is an older style home, but well kept. You park in the back and are texted a code for the gate to get in. The key to your room is left outside on the back porch and you go to your room as you would like. Definitely a colonial style home with a suit of armor next to the stairs (that's true). If you look closely around, you will see several references to Harry Potter, which my wife enjoyed finding and we looked around. Our room was awesome, with a nice couch and TV in front of it, a small table to sit at to eat, a comfy bed, and a separate bathroom with a cool tiled shower. Downstairs has a small sitting area, a bar, and another room has the long dining room table. My wife and I were comfortable walking into the place and going in and out of our room to activities as we saw fit. We did encounter some of the other guests, but only briefly. There is a small ice machine, which we used while we were there. And there is a mini-fridge next to it that guests had put in some leftovers as there aren't fridges in the rooms (which is all fine because Tiffany handles some of the cooking for you!). My wife and I went outside to hang out for a while because we had been at the zoo during the day and it was 86 degrees -- which is hot for us Oregonians for the beginning of April. We brought swim wear as the first amenity listed on Netherly's site is the salt pool. Sadly, it was not heated and still appeared to have some small branches from the property in it. It hadn't been warm enough for long enough for it to be available. The hot tub adjacent to it didn't have water, but honestly, I didn't remember anything mentioned on the website about a hot tub, so it was not anything I was expecting anyway. We can and enjoyed the back yard for a little bit, but opted to go inside and take a shower to cool off and then head out for activities. The first morning I had paid extra to have food delivered to our room. It is a good thing I put on some pants when I opened the door because Tiffany walked in to set down the food on the table for us. I've been to a couple other B&Bs and it is usually left outside, but I figured I'd not answer in the nude and that was a good idea. We were told she enters to set things up to ensure we don't eat in the bed as it is a nightmare to clean up (and I believe it). We had chopped potatoes, some waffles, and a little bit of fruit. More than enough for my wife and I. The next day we ate at the large table downstairs. We ate with a couple from France that had come to view the eclipse. Tiffany was very pleasant and talkative during that time. I cannot specifically remember all of the food, but it included more chopped potatoes, some toast, and I cannot remember what else. It was good food, though, and more than enough for me to eat. Tiffany also gave us a dessert cornmeal kind of muffin that was pretty good as well. For my personal experience, I look to the front page of Nethery's page that touts "Southern Hospitality Hotel Accommodations with a Pool" that the next page says is open in spring. summer, and fall. I don't think the site even mentions a hot tub, so no worries on that. It may not have been warm enough for the pool to really work out so early in April, but we were looking forward to having a more private pool than one found at a large hotel. The home is beautiful and sitting outside to bask in the sun is nice. Getting in and out was easy and the room we had was awesome. If you pay to have breakfast in your room, make sure you are dressed. You get generous portions and the food is pretty good! But look -- the pool thing aside, which I wouldn't want anyone reading this to make too big of a deal about as it didn't ruin any plans and wasn't the primary reason for my choosing Nethery Estate, we had a great time. My wife was very pleased that Nethery Estate was where we spent our 2nd anniversary together. It is certainly it's own experience and Tiffany is a great host, so if you are considering staying here -- book it.

The…read morehotel itself was very clean, the room was very clean, the bedding was very clean and comfortable. They provided very nice shampoo, comditioner, shower gel, soap and lotion. A hairdryer and mini fridge were in our room and the fridge was clean. Parking was good for us. There was an obvious sign inside, we were verbally advised where not to park, and there was an obvious sign outside, so maybe the parking info has been improved. There was also excellent lighting outside that made my daughter and I feel safe parking. I was REALLY lit up out there. The location was so close to the cute downtown. It took us about 7 minutes to get there, if that. The breakfast was great! Make your own waffles, assorted bagels, breads and muffins, a high quality yogurt with many toppings available, and cereals. Eggs, biscuits and gravy, and bacon. Oatmeal, a few kinds of juice, sparkling flavored water. A really fun coffee machine with lattes, cappacinos, regular coffee, and a mocha coffee. Apples, tangerines and bananas too. The food service area was kept well stocked and was very clean. There is a small store with different foods, snacks and items you might need while traveling, and also a vending machine. The only negative was the thin walls. You can hear quite a bit from other rooms but that has been a common issue in many hotels in my experience (I was a flight attendant for 16 years). Ear plugs would be a good idea if you are a light sleeper. The hotel staff has been really nice to us from check in to the cleaning staff and breakfast staff. We would definitely stay here again.

One person working desk, breakfast, all things lobby and feeling stressed didn't make for a welcoming environment (not their fault). For the money we spent it was very upsetting for the whole stay!!!

At first glance everything looks sleek and modern -- matte black bottles in the shower, minimalist décor, nice lighting -- the whole place gives off a strong "frat bro discovers design blogs" energy. Unfortunately, the details didn't match the vibe. The bathroom had zero outlets, which was a surprise in a space clearly designed around a giant light-up mirror that practically begs you to plug something in. The shower head also had noticeable buildup, which made the whole "clean modern spa" look a bit less convincing up close. The beds looked perfectly crisp until you actually laid down. The comforter filling was bunched into strange, stiff lumps, like it had survived a long and difficult journey through an industrial dryer. Not exactly the cozy experience you hope for. None of this ruined the trip, and the hotel definitely has potential -- the style is there -- but right now it feels like a place where appearance got more attention than comfort and maintenance. I only stayed one night and moved to something a bit more polished. If you're after something that photographs well, this place delivers. If you're after a truly comfortable stay, it might fall a little short.

Bedroom TV kept flickering but after multiple attempts my husband finally got it to work. Living room TV had this error message and we couldn't get it to work. Lighting and design in the rooms is terrible unless you like waking others to use the restroom in the middle of the night or walking through dark rooms to turn on lights. No working water in the whole building for a short time the next day. Later we had no hot water in our sink or shower. After maintenance came to verify they moved us rooms. But only after we were required to pack all our stuff and drag to lobby to lug back up to 3rd floor. New room had no working phone and no mini-fridge. We had no way to keep medication cold. We were never compensated for our room upgrade. Was actually told the hotel was sold out so that's why they couldn't, but the Hilton app would have allowed me to book our same room for the night. Sold out meant 30 cars in the parking lot that night. Manager has not returned our calls. Generic response via email. This is not the expectation as Hilton Honors members who at one point were Diamond members. Exposed pipes in ceiling means you can hear all of the neighbors running water at all hours. A/C unit is louder than usual hotel in a room full of concrete. Stained mattress, poorly made beds, uncomfortable beds, light switches across the room, broken fixtures, dirty showers, no dresser, no mini fridge, no working phone in room - a huge safety issue! Do yourself a favor and not stay here. Even under construction there are things about this hotel that are terrible. Design being the biggest. Photos are deceiving. The concept is modern but it feels like a low end concrete efficiency apartment lacking basic things like towel hooks, mini fridge, good lighting. The elevator doors are enclosed behind a wall with steel doors. Seems like a fire hazard nightmare. We were told there's only one way in and out of the hotel. That also seems sketchy and a safety issue.
