My wife, daughter, and grandson used TRE to go to the State Fair. We left Bell station around 9 am…read morethe last Saturday of the fair. I use a walker as I have had a stroke. I want to thank the staff for making my trip easier than I anticipated. They held the train for 5 minutes for me to walk to the handicapped entrance and showed my daughter how to purchase tickets online after we boarded. We returned around 7 pm and experienced the same service. Thanks again TRE for making an 82-year-old man's day at the fair outstanding.

Nice and useful station on the Orange light rail system. You can easily buy tickets from the…read moremachine, though give yourself a little time to figure it out (first time I arrived it took me a stressful three minutes). This is the closest stop to the Toyota Music Factory, the Irving Convention Center, the Los Colinas apartments, the deceptively named Marriot Dallas Los Colinas, and an easy walk once you learn to look at a real map instead of following Google Maps walking. There's an overpriced convenience store right by the station. In fact everything around this station is very overpriced, so it's a useful station if you're staying in one of the nearby hotels. DART is so affordable, get a day pass to get to the museum district in Dallas, and along the Orange line there are many much more affordable better restaurants than in and around the hotels. Also, this is the way to get to and from the airport though no locals, hospitality workers, or travel guides seem to know about it. From here, right into Terminal A, no hassle at all for a fraction of the Uber price.

I saw lots of DART agents on the trains so I didn't have security concerns (it was middle of the day and rather crowded because it was State Fair season). The one issue I ran into was that I couldn't figure out how to get a physical ticket from the pay stations. I ended up downloading the app, verifying the app, adding a credit card to the app to pay and then buying a day pass (round trip fare). The app is actually really nice. You can map your route and it will show you what time the next train is arriving at your stop. Definitely set the app up ahead of time so you are ready to go!

There were plenty of DART workers when I went, directing hordes of pedestrian, and making sure everything was safe. The fact that there were lots of uniformed employees made things go smoothly, and they were good about telling people to get out of the way or clearing the tracks. The station was well lit, and it was a simple process to get tickets and get a place to sit on the train. The trains were packed when I went, but everything still moved quickly and smoothly. Kelly welcomed us when we arrived and helped us get checked in. She told us how to get our garage parking validated, how to use our tickets for food, drinks, raffle drawings and autographs. She was delightful and we definitely took a shine to her. There was a full 2 hours of entertainment. A DJ provided music and the Chowboys dance team performed. Food was provided. I had the nachos, which was cleverly packed as a do-it-yourself entre. A generous bunch of tortilla chips in a flat box with several toppings that you dump on or dip in as you please. I saw the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches that had mounds of meat but no bbq sauce or other toppings. Two drink tickets were provided, too. A good assortment of canned & draft beverages and margaritas. There were many diehard fans who you would remember seeing at the games and some other special guests. Three current players from the Cowboys football team arrived for the autograph session. It was nice, meeting them, although briefly. The only thing missing were cheerleaders. The trains are relatively clean and pretty modern / up-to-date, and they travel at a decent speed (in general comparable to the BART). Overall the TRE is a great addition to the DFW metroplex but their downside is definitely the waiting anywhere between 20 minutes to an HOUR per train issue. Build more tracks & trains! If they improved in this area I believe they'd have a much higher approval rating.
