Their latest gimmick is to charge the customers for polycarb lenses at an extra fee without bothering to ask the customers what they want. This store is the worst store ever. This is the second time I have attempted to use this store. The last time was over three years ago. The first time they made a set of bifocals that did not even work properly. They went unused and I ended up going to America's Best to get my glasses. Fast forward to this job and new insurance that uses this company. The same Tinley Park store. The doctor stated my distance did not change much and I do not really need distance glasses. I said yeah, I am here for glasses to use while at the desk using a computer. This appt was 6/29/2024. Fast forward until today- 1 month later and what did I receive but distance glasses. Talking to the lady at the desk was like talking to a script. We can reschedule you to have your eyes re-reviewed. Did you not do a comprehensive test to show what my script would be for reading glasses? Well, she doesn't know she can't look it up and tell. She wanted me to take the glasses with me. Why am I taking glasses with me that is not the correct product? Answer- so that doctor can see them when you come back. I asked again, why would I take a pair of glasses with me if I cannot use them? You did not call me to come pick them up; put them back and hold them until I come back. The worst customer service- so now I had to reschedule for another week - later in the afternoon so that this process can take what? Another month. I want my money back. And don't bother telling me to go to customerservice@visionworks.com because the damn site will not let me provide my review. You click on it and nothing. Stay away from vision works Tinley Park. I went to Tinley Park vision works. I saw a male chauvinist doctor who "does not listen." I had a Pair of prescription glasses which were 5 years old. The staff copied the prescription and gave it to the male chauvinist doctor. He prescribe the same prescription. I told him that "I could not see" out of that prescription, he told me I had dry eyes And to use eye drops. I wanted contact lenses which were the wrong prescription ...I came back for a re- exam. He told me the same thing again and to wait 30 days and come back to see him ..."I cannot see." The only reason I went to vision works is because of my insurance. I want you to know that I found my examination from another eye care facility clinic. "Not vision works" and the prescription is quite different. read more

This location is absolutely terrible. Why I tried to schedule another appointment here after being treated rudely and constantly up sold for everything I don't know. Today I had an appointment where I was going to be running about 15 minutes late due to an accident on the highway nearby. I called and was told since I was outside of their 10 minute window my appointment was canceled. I left work early today drove 35 miles to get to the appointment was 1 mile away and was told they could not wait for me. I would never recommend this location to anyone ever. read more

The 100 day guarantee is NO guarantee at all. They sold me a defective frame where one of the nose-guards broke off so easily, and they charged me $80 for a new frame. This after telling me that the 100 day guarantee was only good if I was unhappy with the 1st frame. I told them "of course I was unhappy with the 1st frame," but they still would not stand behind their guarantee. Their sales pitches are all lies too, as when you try to buy 2 pairs for the price of one, it is all double talk and lies by typical corporate greed and 'screw" the consumer. Compare it to buying a car from a dishonest salesmen, the guarantees and sales from Visionworks are all lies to put more money in the billionaire corporate owners pickets. You can get glasses for 1/5 of Visionworks prices by ordering your glasses from online glass/vision companies or 1/10th the price from India/China vision companies. The same China frames as the ones sold at Visionworks, who mark these China/India frames by as much as 7-800 per cent. read more

I had a very good experience at Visionworks Brookside Marketplace in Tinley Park. Emily was very helpful in assisting me with choosing my glasses, she took time with me and was very thorough. I would definitely recommend asking for her if you need guidance with glasses. Also I used my vision insurance along with using the funds in my HSA which was great idea and it saved me on majority of the cost to purchase my eye glasses and sunglasses. I was in town for my nephew's graduation. Unfortunately I tore my right contact lenses and I neglected to bring replacements. Fortunately I was able to make an appointment the same day at Visionworks! I was examined by Dr. Opferman whom I found to be very competent and professional. Dr. O has a warm and welcoming personality.We even had a conversation on Peruvian food! Fortunately they had my contact lens in stock and I was able to see my nephew graduate. Haven't picked up my glasses yet, but I wanted to post my review of the service I received working with Jenna. A breath of fresh air. Jenna knows her products and is more than willing to answer any question, give advice and help her customer come to the correct decision. No high pressure sales pitch, no pushing products only ordering exactly what I asked for. Jenna worked extremely well with both my wife and I. Spoke too soon. Left town with my glasses and they are way off. Can't see if I look straight through lenses. Have to look down the glasses. Disappointing because we are on vacation and I will now have to fight with them over the 30 day return policy. read more

Not sure why the bad reviews for this location. I have never had a bad visit here. Would like to commend the staff this morning for more excellent service. The screw fell out of my 11year old's glasses (again) and we drove over to see if we could get them replaced or repaired. This happened once before and they had replaced they screw, but the glasses were looking a bit worn for wear. The customer service lady was able to quickly repair them at no charge and saved me $$$ by not having to buy a new set of frames. Not only was the screw replaced, but she also adjusted something and cleaned them. They looked like brand new. Will be back when the new insurance cycle resets for her next pair of glasses I am sure. read more

I took my grandson to the location in Tinley Park, IL. The doctor was excellent, very friendly explained to him about his vision and came out and talk to me as well. I could not have asked for better service. Then he choose contact lens since he plays sports. He did the practice turn on and so they were ordered for him on 9/26. I had not heard from this location, so three plus weeks later I called the location to see what the heck was the hold up. The young lady told me that they had not come in yet. I asked her why, what is taking so long. When I have ordered glasses or contacts from other locations less than a week I get a call for pick up. After hearing my vent the young lady asked can she call me back after some research. About three hours later she calls me back and states that she has located them that they were there she just didn't know where they were located, not in the location as other orders. So you telling me my grandson contacts came in you don't know when and why I didn't get a call for pick up. They were received and put up some place different then the rest of the orders. So if I hadn't called today 10/17 I still would not know nothing. This is the worse customer service I have ever received from a vision works location. read more

Whoever is the girl not women who answers the phone in the afternoon has no communication skills, is very rude and dismissive especially when you go to visionworks and she's there. This location needs to change management and receptionist. The only helpful employee that filled my son's order was a women named Maryanne. I called corporate on this Tinley park location. I came to this visionworks despite the reviews I've seen on yelp...which are all horrible. I worked with Sarah when i came in for an eye exam. I went in a bit scared thinking i would be treated terribly but she was extremely nice. We even chatted a bit about the weather and how we enjoy going to the water park. She cleaned up the machinery as i watched her, before putting my face up against them for testing. I appreciate that. I got in to take my eye exam within 5 minutes of filling out paperwork. I paid $19 for the exam. When i didn't see glasses that i liked, no one pushed me into paying for anything i didn't need. The doctor was polite and the exam was nothing out of the ordinary. I cant give a rating based on the actual frames since i didn't buy them from here. One thing I didn't like: they are listed on the care credit site but not set up for it? (Seems like a care credit issue) i was told they weren't sure why they are on there when they don't have the capability yet. read more

When will I learn not to come here. My last 4 visits (2 for me & 2 for my daughter) have been absolute disasters. Staff is RUDE. They are more interested in increasing their average sale than what the customer needs or wants. If you don't want their extras(that they claim you must have)-they become argumentative. The first time I visited the store (a Monday), the 2 sales persons were too busy talking to each other and took forever to come sit with us. Then, they weren't able to put my insurance through properly. I was told that they would call me back the next day. I called back myself twice on Wednesday and again on Thursday when I didn't hear back. A different sales person told me they had no idea what the problem was, had to explain the entire thing all over again. They told us to come back to tje store to give prescription and pupil measurements and then it should be sorted. I went back to the store on Friday and they weren't able to finish my transaction again due to technical issues. Again they said they would call me the next day to confirm. I finally got a call back on Sunday afternoon to confirm my order. It took an entire week to just order a pair of glasses! I'm never coming back here and would not recommend to anyone. read more

I have been going to this location for about 3 years since Dr. Opferman moved from the Chicago Heights location to Tinley Park. I have nothing but good experiences every time I go. Dr. Opferman is friendly and knowledgeable and takes the time to go through any questions I have. When I decided to make the switch from long-term contact lenses to daily-wear lenses, Dr. Opferman was able to offer lenses that would fit my needs and made the process a breeze for me. I don't typically fill out surveys, however, I had such a positive experience with your associates I decided to take the time to acknowledge them. Jenna provided top notch customer service from the moment I entered the store. I was greeted warmly with a smile and fun pink hair which immediately put me at ease. I love that the associates are able to be true to themselves and as a customer this shows a level of honesty that is not often found in the retail market. I checked in at the front desk and expected to wait a little bit before I would be examined as the store seemed rather busy, however, I was quickly called back to have the initial testing done. This was done in a very efficient and professional manor with out feeling cold or disinterested. Shortly there after I was seen by the doctor who finished my exam with a few personalized suggestions to improve the eye strain I have been experiencing and lead me out to the floor. At this point Jenna really "wowed" me with her attention to her customers. As I said the store was busy and there were several more customers then associates none the less Jenna made sure the each of the guests she was working with felt that they were receiving the level of attention they needed. For example there is nothing I find more irritating than when you are trying to shop and make a decision and an associate is waiting for you making you feel rushed or pressured into making a decision. Often times when this happens I will find myself leaving the establishment without making a purchase at all as I don't feel comfortable in the setting. Jenna, however, must be incredibly adept at noticing the different types and styles of customers as she was ready and available any time I wanted to ask an opinion or needed to ask a question, but was not waiting on me to make a choice which made me much more comfortable to look around and entirely more likely to make a purchase at this location. I had collected a few different options since I wanted to make a change to the style of glasses I typically choose and it was at this point that Jenna gave me her absolutely undivided attention. Her ability to shift between customers meeting each of their needs and being available to assist despite an unpredictable / indecisive client (myself lol) is truly a gift and certainly something to be praised. Jenna was extremely patient with me as I shifted between each selection (multiple times mind you) all the while providing me with professional yet honest feedback on which styles worked best with my personal facial features as well as which styles were or were not an option based on my prescription proving herself highly knowledgeable about the product she was selling as well as providing confidence that I was selecting the best option for me. With her guidance I elected to purchase the poly carbonate lenses as well as the anti-glare and "Blue light" treatments as these too would help with the eye strain I experience with my job. This is not the closest Visionworks either near my home nor place of work and this is the second time I have frequented this location. It is because of the care and attention that I have received from associates like Jenna that have had me returning to this location despite the commute. I can definitively say that I have never received this level of attention from any other location. Worst service ever. Tried to make us pay for optional extended testing without even asking us. No one knew what they were doing. Went to pick up glasses per the email and was treated extremely rudely by the "manager" because the e-mail stated to come and get them but he yelled at us saying we needed an appointment. No one ever said we needed an appointment for pickup and the e-mail they sent said to come get them. Extremely rude, yelling at customer and then rushed at me like he was going to attack me but when he saw I wasn't moving he side stepped me at the last minute and ran to the door where he yelled for us to leave. It's been two years but after going to a real Eye Doctor I had to rate this place and hope it will get better. The first two I had gone there the Eye Doctor was the best he cared about my eyes. He told me all the things I needed to know and made sure I got the glasses I needed. Not sure what happened to him but that was the turn to this place. Last time I had gone there they lost my records, had a new person checking my eyes, and the eye doctor was less then happy I was there bugging her. I know I had some special needs on my eyes, she did not address them. Even when I asked her! When I got my glasses they were over $100 and that was after insurance. I didn't even change my insurance and the eye place I had gone too was only $11. Why? I got the same stuff from Visionworks. Thanks to the poor service I've found a better place that is nice and fair. read more

We weren't able to take care of what I needed that day (no fault of theirs) and they finished the transfer and followed up with me the next day. I recently visited this Vision Works location with my two daughters. I was very impressed from start to finish. Dr. Sblendorio was great explaining the issues he found after the eye exams. The highlight of the visit was Kenneth S., who walked us through the process of explaining our options for ordering, what features were important for my daughters' new glasses and pricing. Second time here and it keeps getting worse. We have a family of 4 kids and were told to come in early to get paperwork out of the way. When we showed up they wouldn't open the door and said we had to wait outside till they open. When told them we were told to come in early the lady told us that she was worried about robberies and she would not open the doors till 12:00.... 15 min later! Never ever waste your time or money here! It has been a year & still no solution. I have contacted them several times with no resolution. Wrong frames, I ordered 3 different frames & 2 out of 3 were correct &wrong prescription on all 3. One of the associates checked & admitted that he did indeed submit the wrong prescription & the wrong number for the frame I choose. This is after the doctor checked & said the prescription was correct. I have since returned 4 times to get this resolved with no luck. I have 3 pairs of glasses that I have wasted my money on & cannot wear along with the many, many hours in that horrible place trying to get this resolved. I would like to give No stars. I only come here because of my insurance. I have gotten 2 sets of glasses that I haven't been able to where. I have gone back so may times my head is spinning. I came to find out that it depends on who's taking care of you when you complain as to what gets done. The manager says let's adjust the frames and then wear them and see if that makes a difference. I come back again still not being able to wear them. The next girl says let's order new lens. Keep in mind I still can't SEE. The final time I went in one of the girls was shopping for her own frames while customers were waiting including myself. I haven't been able to get back into the office to complain that I still can't SEE due to Covid but I did call today to get the District Managers number. Let's see how this goes. Basically, I suggest opt out for your employers vision coverage if this is all the offer and find a reputable Physician who can back the product and there reputation. read more

Went in there for an eye appointment for contact lenses. While waiting, a former patient came in and was trying to get her contact lense prescription, which they refused to give her. " When I asked about this policy, they said something to the effect of "Unless you come back for the follow-up, we won't give it. We have to see how the contacts fit." I said,'I've been wearing the same contacts forever, of course they fit." Still wouldn't give it and you have to pay for the second appt. (the first is $110) which to me says they're just trying to jam you on the fees. So I ended up leaving before my appt and will look elsewhere. read more

Good customer service, but they don't know how to make lenses. It's like you have a nail shop a few blocks away from your house, but you rather drive a little further to nail shop own by Asain people, so you will be treated good and good service. First lenses I got, a couple months later, both lenses got cracked from the top. So, I returned it to have them fix. Second time after they said they fix the issue, I can't put it on at night time driving because the lenses are so blurry. My daughter was having some issues seeing the board at school so we brought her to get her eyes examined here. I was a bit skeptical because I figured these chain stores might be all about selling product more than customer focus. I had experienced that at Pearls vision center before. Well, we got an appointment with Dr. Opferman and he came out and met us himself in the waiting area which was a nice touch . My daughter did all the exams and and he was very thorough and spent a lot of time explaining to us what was going on and what she needed. He explained our options between glasses or contacts and wasn't overly pushy at all trying to sell us more than we wanted , in fact when I asked if we should get bifocals which I knew would be a lot more expensive he told us we did not need them. He could have made a few extra bucks but instead gave us fantastic honest customer service . After we chose our glasses he came out again and spoke to us about rebate options on the pair we chose . My husband came here to get glasses twice. Both times were terrible. The first time the lady kept arguing that he had to get bifocals when bifocals aren't for him because he drives for his job. The second time they didn't even order the frames with the glasses it took two and a half weeks and all they can say is we don't know why that we didn't order the frames.
