When the receptionist brought it up, I asked if it cost extra; she said yes, and then told her I wasn't interested. You'd think it would end there. After Dr. Breeden finished the main portion of the exam, she made it a point to get up, close the door, and lecture me about the importance of dilation, imploring scare tactics, and comparing it to having vitals checked. This was just insulting. It's my health, and it's my money, and I have the right to opt out. I'd like to think that professionals could take a hint that money is clearly an issue for me without me having to say HEY, I'M FUCKING BROKE, I'M JUST HERE TO GET A PRESCRIPTION SO I CAN BUY CONTACT LENSES. The icing on the cake was not being given (or emailed) my new prescription at the end of the visit. After I emailed them asking for it, there was another little passive aggressive cherry on top -- part of my prescription was left blank, and I had to dig up my old prescription to find the number (the BC, or base curve, which is either 8.4 or 8.8 when ordering contacts online). So thanks, ladies! Very professional.

    I was greeted with a smile by the receptionist and immediately given papers to fill and walked into…read morethe exam room. Dr. Clegg was friendly and thorough in his examination asking me questions regarding my health and eyesight. He also dilated my eyes to check my eye health. The exam took only about 20 mins. The place was clean and tidy and he made sure to wipe down all equipment before it's use on me. I had no insurance but paid an out of pocket cost that was below the average (under $100) of other eye exams in the area. He said I had pretty good eyesight but was a little far sighted in my left eye. I'd had cataracts so my lenses were replaced in 2021 and I've been using readers (2.50) for reading. (I had never worn glasses till then.) He said I would be fine to keep using them and did not try to up sell me but gave me a prescription in case I changed my mind. Because of his honesty, integrity and low cost, I will be retuning in the future.

It…read moreall started with a combative "manager " telling me the benefits I have had for over six years were not my benefits. After talking down to me, she quickly called my insurance and verified that I have two policies. No appointments needed, we all make mistakes, but this "manager" managed to keep a chip on her shoulder during the whole experience. I picked out three pairs of glasses, my insurance covers three pairs, but she had an issue with the third pair. she stated my insurance won't cover them. So I gave them a call and requested an explanation of benefits. My insurance covers anything in the store up to $225, anything over is out of pocket. The "manager" was present for the explanation of benefits, acknowledged what my provider explained, but then explained that it was their company policy for those particular glasses. It doesn't make any sense. If you need eye care, go elsewhere. These "front of house" employees are poorly trained and give off the impression that they do not like their job. We are all struggling to afford anything right now, you do not need to make life harder for the next human because you hate your job. I hope things get better for you

    I called Sears Optical at Clackamas Town Center on 3/7/17, and spoke to Mark, to order 8 boxes of…read morecontacts, which were ordered incorrectly. After a couple of days of wearing them, I realized the prescription was wrong, they were for "near" and not "distance" vision. I contacted Sears Optical on 3/27/17 and spoke to Russell, who told me they could order the correct lenses. In the meantime, I requested a pair to get me through until they arrive, and they said they found one for only one eye, and I could pick it up. I had my friend pick them up since he was going to be in the neighborhood. He was not happy with the error, and asked that they provide a complete set, so they contacted other locations until a "set" was found. On Saturday, April 8th, I went to Sears Optical to pick up the lenses, which were requested to be "rushed" and I thought to my home, like the first set. They did not arrive at my home, nor did I receive a call that they were in. Great Customer Service, right?! The person that helped me,after at least a 20 minute wait, on a busy Saturday evolved into even more of a bizarre situation. I mentioned that I wanted to swap out my current lenses, which I was wearing, that were in dire need of being replaced, and could barely see out of one of my eyes. After he finally realized what I was asking to do, brought by a trash can, when I asked for some saline solution he brought over a bag of assorted lense cleaners that were mostly meant for overnight cleaning, not as a "rinsing" solution, which he ended up giving to me. I found some saline that I had in my purse, so much for a helpful optometrist office! When I picked up the lense, from the package, i noticed it had dark residue all over it, of some sort, and we realized it was from the box of lenses, the felt pen ink that was used on the box to circle the "left" and "right" option. When I looked to him for advice, as I wasn't sure if I should use the lense that now had navy blue ink on it, he said "it's OK." So, no worries putting ink directly into my eye, really?! I rinsed the lense as thoroughly as I possibly could, and tried it, and it seemed to be fine. I would have expected better overall assistance though, maybe even taking a look at the lense I took out to see why it was "dirty", due to an ongoing issue, but the most they offered was bringing me a trash can because he didn't want to be involved with the lense that came out of my eye, which I totally get, and suggested that I put an ink soaked lense in my eye with "overnight" solution, instead of saline, which he couldn't seem to find in an eye doctor's office. Unbelievable!!! As any contact lense wearer knows, you NEVER use that type of solution to rinse with. Wow!!!! Don't even get me started on the extremely eccentric Optometrist, or the fact that they are not willing to try to help me figure out why after one year, I've already gone through 3-4 years worth of very expensive lenses, totaling approximately $2,000 of out of pocket expenses!!! The moral of this story: enter this office at your own risk!!!!!!
