They were bent up from poor storage, and the lens would not stay in the frames. The metal is thin, and this model has a double hinge mechanism, making self repair too risky for me to attempt. Mike M. was able to diagnose the issue and reshape them into functional shades, which is impressive due to their age and the condition when I brought them in. I tried multiple jewelers and other eyeglass retailers, but a kind person referred me to this location where my needs were met beyond expectation. I opted for 3 stars as I really thoroughly enjoyed the optometrist office located within the store, 82nd Eyecare, and I genuinely like my glasses. But, like most Yelp users, you're here to hear why it's "only" 3-stars. Customer service wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. I browsed glasses for a good 15 minutes while waiting for a retinal scan at the eye doctor. The same guy approached me at least 4 times to see if I needed anything. Once or twice is fine, even expected. But it got to the point of annoyance, especially when a completely different salesperson joined in for a few rounds. After the eye exam was complete, I was back to browsing, still getting numerous offers to help. I finally selected a pair and checked out. This all went relatively smoothly, and despite it being the guy who pestered me earlier, I can honestly say that it was a very easy transaction. He easily accessed my insurance information, clearly laid out the pricing, showed me the different options--all top notch service. The full price was $605, most of which insurance covered. I paid for the rest with my HSA. So at this point you understand why I went down to 4 stars--after all, nobody likes pushy salespeople. But why 3? Three reasons: it's impossible to get a receipt. He printed one off for me when I left, and when I checked it at home, I noticed it was just a summary of benefits. Because it's a major provider, I doubt my HSA provider will ask for proof, but I still like to have all my paperwork together. So when I pick up my glasses, I again ask for a receipt. They print it off, and I think surely this time it's right. Got home and see it's a statement of the balance owed. It's pretty standard that a receipt will show everything zeroed out. Nope. Doesn't even show that I paid the balance owed. Secondly, the person I picked up my glasses from was the same person that pestered and sold them to me days before. Didn't recognize me at all. I get it, though. Lots of customers, I probably think I'm more memorable than I really am. But that brings up the third point. They hand me my Ralph Lauren glasses, I try them on, and they're like, "Cool, we're done here. See you later." Very impersonal. The case for the glasses is by the manufacturer, so I can't fault them there. But I thought it pretty standard to include a cleaning pad. Nope, not for $605. I ordered a backup pair of glasses from a major online manufacturer ($95) and a pair of trendy prescription sunglasses ($175) from a different retailer. Both arrived at my home in less time than it took LensCrafters to fulfill my order. Both came in cases, wrapped in microfiber cloths to clean the lenses. LensCrafters was a 3-star service. It is memorable for being unmemorable. read more

I came in here on a Monday evening around 6:30 with my prescription paper looking for some glasses. My brother got his here for a good deal and good brand (Armani exchange) and I wanted ones just like his! The gentleman helping me out was really kind and informative as to what was included in the price and what not. My total was $180 I believe for my frame and lens. They had them done in literally 30 min! I am so used to waiting 5-7 days for glasses to arrive so I was shocked that it was that quick. Dr. Han Tran was so great! I used to see "Dr. Fuzzy Face" (try writing that on your intake form, who did your last eye exam) at this same location, I really liked his personality and skill. Dr. Tran made it easy to understand what I should be looking for and didn't push me into purchasing at this location. I specifically asked about Warby Parker, since I did the at-home try-on last year but ran out of flex spending dollars. I also opted for the Optomap (Optimap?), the $29 upsell for eye health. It's painless and involves a very bright camera-type flash. The front desk lady was very kind and personable while performing these portions of my exam. Payment was clear and worked with my Aetna insurance. I was able to take away an itemized receipt for FSA substantiation of a claim, if needed. During the exam, Dr. Tran spoke with me about my images, what they meant and things to look out for, going forward. I know this is "just a mall" optician but I really enjoy this LensCrafters. Also, when they leave voicemails and stuff, it will say 82nd Ave Eye Care, these are synonyms for each other. The map on Yelp makes it look like it's outside by Sinju but it's upstairs, outside of Sears, the LensCrafters. The info desk to check in has the "82nd Ave Eye Care" signage. It really confused me. I went to Sears and Visionworks before I settled on suite 2101 or whatever the suite # is. The 2 part means upstairs. Nice location, still enjoy the new doc and will keep repeating business until my insurance no longer works with them. Parking at Sears is really convenient to get to this location. read more

First off Dr. Clark is great, highly recommend him. He is very thorough and communicates. But I brought in my frames to LensCrafters to update the perception and they destroyed my frames. My mother took a fall and bent her glasses, even the nosepads were flattened, bruised nose, etc. She'd trying going to her optical shop in North Portland but they were never open so she was becoming desperate! We'd met at the Mall for lunch so I suggested we stop in at Lenscrafters, see if they would help us--Oh my, did they! In less than two minutes they were ready to wear and the clerk would not take a penny for fixing them either! VERY considerate service and we do appreciate it so much, thank you! I felt like I was at Jiffy Lube all about the up sale. You can't get a quote until you basically commit to an order without knowing the price. So you start down the path and they tell you the frames you picked out only accept a more expensive lense than you want or need. By that time, their system gobbles up your insurance benefits which now say you have used your benefit for the year. No turning back unless you have time to wait for them to call your carrier. Then you are either back to square one on the frame search or you can pay them with a card and they will call you back later and they'll tell you how much the final cost is. Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember the days when you did not have to pay until you were satisfied and actually accepted the product. Ended up waiting until 11:20 when my appointment was for 11:00. Was not too bad since the person in front of me was my husband. Dr. Kim likes to talk and explain what is or is not happening with your vision. The actual exam was quick once it got started. When we went out into the sales area to pick out glasses it was full of people standing around waiting for sales people to help them. It was way to busy. We eventually got everything taken care of and paid for. Total time between exams and purchasing glasses was two hours. First met with the gal preparing three 'tests' prior to the exam who seemed to take it personally when I refused two of the tests however this initial negative experience dissipated after meeting with Dr. Kim Clark. He is so enlightening and refreshing, it restored my faith in Oregon (having recently moved here). He gave me all the time necessary for a complete exam and then some. Wow - what a guy! The rest of my experience there was without complaint. Sure I had to wait a bit when picking the glasses up as there was only one sales person and one technician available but so what? The important issue to me are being happy with the end result and I am. The Retail Manager, Jessica P. was proficient, knew her stock and on her first attempt, found frames I liked. They're comfortable, look great, and I can see again! What more could one expect? Kudos to this LensCrafters! read more

I came in looking for an emergency pair of eyeglasses or contacts. The man that was working there was really helpful. I told him I needed a basic pair of glasses just to tide me over till I got my contacts and that I would need it the same day. He went and checked around and said he will see what he could do. He wasn't sure if he could get my lens done since my prescription was too high. I asked if they also carried contacts in my prescription. He went to talk to his co-worker who worked at the contact lens room. She said she didn't have any in stock for astigmatism, but a regular one in a higher power. She also said she another one I could try if that didn't work. I tried the first one she gave me and it worked perfectly. She didn't even charge me for the lenses after I asked her how much. They really provided excellent customer service even though I didn't buy anything. I spent all day calling around asking different optical places if they could help me. Nobody could or would help me except for Lens Crafters in Clackamas. I will definitely will come back if I need glasses! read more
