As anyone who has followed my Reviews knows I'm a pretty easy going guy.....not easily annoyed or rattled. :) Having clearly stated that I've discovered an EASY way to ruin your day as I did mine. Simply visit the MyEyeDr Store in Amherst Mass. Although I'd allowed myself plenty of time to arrive 15 minutes Early, the Town of Amherst chose the same day to put up roadblocks and detours everywhere. As a result I arrived at MY EyeDr 2 (TWO) minutes late, What was their solution? They canceled my appointment, told me I was 20 minutes late, had arrived at 2:09 and totally Blew me off. I went to my Car, fuming, my eyes popping out of my head and checked the email they'd sent me the night before. Yup...I was 2 to 3 minutes late...which I showed the receptionist. She gave me NOTHING but an expressionless stare. Would I EVER recommend one of the MANY MyEyeDr stores based on the way I was treated in Amherst by a Young Woman with a Bad Attitude?? Nope. I'd rather be stabbed in both eyes with a dull butter knife and have Surgery done at a local McDonald's. In Summary.... Avoid at all Costs. :). Right across the Road from MyEyeDr sits a large road sign....a Brilliant Marketing move by "Eye Physicians of Northampton". As you read that "Unhappy Sign" you're right next to "Eye Physicians" Amherst Office. 3 seconds later I was inside...greeted Warmly by VERY nice folks. I now have a NEW Eye Doctor. Guess Who? :) Why does MyEyeDr have a Zillion one-star reviews? Gee. I wonder.

But a few years ago he told me it would never get any better because I had cataracts. I was confronted with cataract surgery, a very scary prospect. Eye surgery? Yikes! I met Dr Shield who was very assuring and professional. He didn't push this on me, which I was grateful for. Meanwhile, both my husband and close friend had cataract surgery and I saw they were fine...better than fine, so I returned. Dr Shield carefully went over all my lense options till we agreed on what was best for me, eyehance lenses. The surgery, performed at the Cataract Center went well. I inquired with the nurses who worked there to learn that Dr Shield was most respected and appreciated for always being on time and being efficient. Sure enough, I didn't wait long, and all went well. This was life changing surgery! There is no pain, just minor eye irritation which subsides in time. It's not just that I can see, but the clarity, the details, the colors are all amazing. I feel as if I have been reborn. Dr Shield was the magician who brought magic back to my life.

Assistant who did my eye exam was lovely (I feel badly she has to work for the Doctor I interacted with) then I had to wait again to see the Doctor. I explained that I had just been to the eye doctor two weeks ago at UMass and just needed an updated prescription. The Doctor wasn't having it, she insisted that I had to see her too. I explained (and pleaded a bit) and I was blamed, "we tell you to allow for an hour and a half". I reread all my communications with them, nowhere does it specify this hour and a half. A kind woman offered I could go ahead of her. The Doctor was on a power trip and completely inflexible. Now I've left three messages with no response from their office manager so as to ensure my insurance doesn't get charged and have to wait a year. For a supposed healer of the eyes, Dr Gal didn't really SEE a person in a bind in front of her and completely lacked compassion, maybe she was having a bad day but I found her rigid and hard hearted. I left flustered and teary eyed.

Sometimes certain plants sell out fast, and I've visited too late. But geez, if something you're looking for isn't there, certainly there are a zillion substitutes! It's a beautiful, welcoming place with an incredible selection of pots and garden decorations. The garden shop has such unique, cute, and classy items. All the times I have gone to Andrews, I have never been disappointed. Great place!

First off, the facility is very well maintained. Everything is in good repair, the facility is clean and neat, and the property is very secure. The best thing about them in my opinion has been the staff. They were kind and helpful in every interaction with them - whether in-person, by email, or over the phone. As this is my daughter's senior year I don't think we'll have need for storage in the area again, but if we did I would be happy to go back to Ideal!

The space was spacious with high ceiling. I stumbled upon interesting books with unfamiliar authors. The staff were friendly, and they offer engaging activities for kids. I can see the value in this place. No cafe is available but there is a snack vending machine and indoor and outdoor seating. There is a water bottle refill machine. I would advise to grab some food first at Atkins Farms as it is a just a few minutes' drive away. It offers a convenient option. Overall, I had a positive experience and I recommend others to come visit this unique place.

The museum has two galleries, a paint room, a library, and an auditorium. Personally, I could spend a decent amount of time reading through the gallery exhibits, but younger kids can't really see or reach a lot of them, so I think they'd get bored pretty quickly. There are a few interactive activities like creating your own recipe or using the peg boards but they felt a little gimmicky rather than being a core part of the experience. The paint room was probably the highlight for kids since there were lots of supplies and things to create, but I didn't see anything my son couldn't already do at home. With that said, kids could probably spend an hour or more here so it should definitely keep them busy. That's kind of where the museum confuses me. I thought this was aimed at younger kids but many of the exhibits are better appreciated by adults. At the same time, older kids will probably find the children's activities too basic. It ends up feeling like it's trying to appeal to everyone without fully committing to one audience. Admission should be much cheaper or donation based. If you're visiting the area, check with your local library first because many libraries offer free passes, and that's definitely the way I'd recommend going. Ironically, I think I'd enjoy coming back by myself more than with my kids. I'd take my time going through the galleries and learning about Eric Carle's work. With young kids though, I found myself feeling rushed because they weren't really engaged. I could also see it being a worthwhile visit for aspiring writers, illustrators, or anyone interested in children's literature.
