When my mother died during open heart surgery at Christmas last year I had to hire someone to move her things to my home and close out her affairs. ideal Movers attempted to take advantage of this situation and charge me $5000 more than what was initially agreed upon after sending pictures to the broker and to the Movers plus having a three-way conference with Ideal Movers and the broker. In the conference, by both of them, I was told "Unless there is a golden calf in the living room your invoice will not increase." on several occasions I asked the broker to speak with the movers and I got the runaround and basically got one phone call an hour before they were supposed to be there from Ideal Movers. in this phone call before the movers even got to my mother's condo they were trying to hustle me for more money, talk over me, steamroll me and intimidate me. Once they were all there they stayed for three hours in their truck arguing with me and it went from bad to worse. They tried to con my uncle into signing an acceptance invoice that they would do the job for $6000 after I refused to pay $8000, and then tried to con me and into sending a text message that I canceled. They told me I would never see my deposit back from the broker and that they had other jobs the next day when they were supposed to be working in my mother's condo that weekend packing and loading their truck. At one point they attempted a $5542 proposal to take only one bedroom of furniture, a few Pyrex bowls and a coffee table. This moving company is a complete scam, the owner is in Israel and good luck reaching him. It is a felony to attempt to coerce and threaten a federal employee. They have been reported to the Better Business Bureau as it was such a traumatic and unprofessional experience rife with racketeering schemes to intimidate and extort money-- particularly out of women. read more

Long story short, Briana quoted out the job with a packing option that I requested. All virtual of course. I chose them for the value and service I received. They showed up at the start of their window, I showed them around and they went to work. I know; I know. But I just have to say it. The experience was really ideal. I kept a storage unit with them for a year, and I could not have imagined better customer service. - I bought a mirror box from them for a framed piece of art, and the guy working personally packaged and secured the piece better than I would have myself for no charge. - My friend and I joked about how this is the best piece of property we could claim stake in for quite some time. It is a completely idyllic setting. Our storage unit overlooked a field with cows peacefully grazing, and the sounds of the passing cyclists wafted from around the corner. Your boxes will have a better view than you ever will. - I actually looked forward to calling to make my payment every month. They were always very efficient, friendly, and understanding, even when I called a day late. (Sorry, guys!) - The move-out was super easy. I just called them the week before, and they told me to come out to fill out a form. Because the last day of the prorated month payment fell on a Sunday they let us move out Monday at no additional charge. They also found some curtain rods that we left behind under the wooden pallets, called us the same day, and held them in the office for pick up. - I received a lovely personal note with my security deposit check, in full, that I promptly received about a week after move-out. I'm not lying. This place is insanely ideal. If only I felt this good about supporting every business. read more

Worst moving experience ever. We were initially quoted $3250 for the move despite me telling the rep on the phone that it's a 3 bedroom house with study/living room/dining room, including backyard. When the movers came in performed an inspection price jumped to $7400 - I tried to call my rep Elijah but the calls went to answering machine. This is blank extortion- you are booked to move your stuff that day as you have a flight the following day. They take full advantage of your situation. Also they said a team of three people will come and only two showed up. It took them 9 hours to load but the truck was short of space and they had to come in again the next day to pick up the remaining 3 items which cost me another $1225. I would stay away from these extortionists and go somewhere else in the future!! I would give no stars if I could! read more

I had ideal move my belongings out of my apartment after I became ill suddenly, so I was not there to supervise their work. I requested several items be sent to me that are unsafe to store in the hot, humid MA climate over the summer, such as lipstick. My boxes arrived battered and with only a semblance of effort at securing the items inside - a few pieces of paper here and there. Several glass items were smashed, making unpacking dangerous. The items I requested were not there, but some truly baffling ones were (half a box of pizza Pringles, uncapped - wtf?) Ideal was rude and full of excuses when I requested either a refund or a discount on services, which amounted to over $600. There are other movers in the area that do a better job and change less. Avoid Ideal like the plague. read more

The grounds are idyllic and spotless, and the employees are super friendly and attentive. I had a storage unit here for about 6 months. I gave them my notice I was going to move out, and then took the last of my stuff out over a weekend when they were closed. On Monday morning they called me because they noticed my lock was gone and all my stuff was gone, and they just wanted to make sure I was the one who had took everything! Responsive to initial call, estimators spent a good amount of time giving suggestions, hourly rate was at or below other 2 companies, move was on time, careful. I have used Ideal Movers twice for all of the larger items in my home and had better-than-expected experiences both times. Both of my moves were one town over in the Valley and each time the movers were incredibly fast, careful, and extremely polite. I was in the middle of yet another house buying/selling/closing ordeal WHILE they were moving me to my new home and they kindly found places to put things while I was busy on the phone with my agent. They even took apart and then put back together my bedframe when I found that I'd accidentally packed any and all things screwdriver related. It was a relief! I've used Ideal since 2011 to store what didn't fit in my apartment and snow tires. Aside from the tires, I had everything in storage containers but I still requested everything be kept on pallets in case water got inside my unit. That was never an issue. Every fall and spring they took the tires and bolts to my service center and returned them to the unit for me for 50 bucks both ways. I've asked them to help me pack Fed Ex packages and other miscellaneous services. It's been a great relief to have found such a nice, honest bunch of people. read more

Ideal Movers did three moves for me this past year and I have only minor complaints to report (none of which are really even worth mentioning). I did make it clear that I was willing to pay a little more for the movers to take their time and handle my things with care. These were not to be the fastest and cheapest moves possible. I found the workers to be courteous and careful and not at all bothered by the directions that we gave. These men were professionals, and not to mention, incredibly strong! I pumped them with snacks and water, and they performed tirelessly. At the end of the last move they even offered to move things around in the house or give additional help that we might need, so we asked if they would help unload a separate truck we had packed and driven ourselves. So for another 30 to 40 min they helped us move additional boxes into our basement. Hire Ideal Movers, my only advice is state your expectations clearly. read more

The first time I used Ideal I was moving from Northampton to South Hadley - things went great. Given that experience, I booked Ideal to pack the trailer I was using to move cross country with U-Pack. BIG mistake. My boxes arrived in California smashed, my furniture was scratched and dented, and all of my items marked "fragile" were stacked in one large pile - what do you think happened to the items on the bottom? I knew going into it that they would not accept liability for my belongings given that they weren't moving them personally, but I thought they would have taken a LITTLE more care. And the worst part is, my partner and I asked the movers to periodically secure our belongings in the trailer with rope that we supplied, which they said they did. When we arrived in California? No rope. Straight up lied to us. Don't use these folks unless you're traveling under 10 miles. read more

So, we used Ideal again for a local move. They gave us an estimate of what it would cost, which seemed a little high, but we figured it wouldn't get there and since we had used their service before and liked it, we went forward anyway. Our quote was for two guys plus the moving truck. Two guys showed up, and about 30+ minutes in another guy, supposedly a manager, just showed up to help without asking us (even though we weren't moving any more than we had shown them in the original walk-through). This third guy was there maybe 45 minutes and left. When they finished and handed us the bill, we were charged for 1.5 hours of the managers time (who we never authorized to show up in the first place). We were also double charged for travel time on top of the hourly rate (in addition to mileage). Add to all of this that only one of the two guys really hustled the whole time and the other guy was also kinda clueless about how to move furniture properly. Needless to say we were pretty pissed. Unfortunately, I think they're the best option in the area. Just keep in mind that for Ideal 2+2=6 when it comes to billing. read more

The update on my post from 1/6/18: Ideal Movers agreed to give me a $127 refund but only if I promised to remove my negative Yelp review! Ideal Movers only stopped demanding that when I told them I felt it was unethical and that if we couldn't resolve this, I'd be filing a complaint with the State Attorney General's office. Moving is a big expense and consumers have a right to places like Yelp where they can get honest reviews, free of deception. If companies try to strong-arm and manipulate reviews in this way, consumers really lose out! I know that I would have appreciated reading some of those honest reviews. Buyer beware. read more

These guys moved us from Deerfield to Pocasset. It was a two-step process. They came on day one and loaded their truck. On day two they drove the truck to the Cape. We were shocked when they arrived on Cape at about 8:00 a.m. We thought they would leave Hadley at 8:00 a.m. Their three guys worked very hard to get the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible. It was a very hot day but the heat didn't slow them down. The bill matched their quote to the penny, though it took them a bit longer than they had estimated. Moved a house we had lived in for 20 years, so there was a lot to move! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. read more

The employee I spoke to said he put my information down and will call soon so I can sign the lease. Never received a call, and had to call them myself only to find out my storage reservation was canceled and I have nowhere to store my things, 3 days before I have to leave!
