I recently made the poor decision to choose one of the many online eyeglass retailers. Bring them a prescription. Select some cute and expensive frames, a few weeks later they send your glasses out. Sounds great right? Not so much I ordered three pairs of glasses I ordered a pair of progressives. I ordered a pair of prescription reading glasses, and I ordered a pair of single vision eyeglasses. Are not one pair not two pair but all three pair had problems with the prescription . Even with the claims of the discounts and the promos and the coupon codes, those three pairs of glasses still cost out-of-pocket $300 . It took me 3 1/2 weeks of daily emails back-and-forth with this company to finally receive a partial refund still leaving me without it a proper pair of glasses . I try to wear them I try to muscle through it I try to let my eyes adjust Today I gave up I got online and in three minutes. I had an appointment at Visionworks in Gresham. I should probably also note this is the first review I've ever left for anything ever in my life because I don't do reviews social media. I put myself online anything like that, but this was such a great experience, and they were so kind and wonderful and knowledgeable and caring I had to get the word out. I've been wearing contacts for 30 years after a 20 minute I exam Dr. Richardson handed me a brand of contacts I had never seen before and said give these a try these are hands-down the most comfortable contact lenses I have ever worn. I have a very difficult prescription I have a stigmatism I have terrible vision. My vision with his contacts is like nothing I've ever seen. Next up, I needed a pair of progressives, not just progressives. I have to have progressives with all the bells and whistles because I'm just so blind that it's not safe for me to drive at night. Are the eyeglass specialist I worked with Ron spent 2 1/2 hours with me finding me the most beautiful perfect hair of such well-made, highly revered gorgeous glasses, I think I've ever owned My last two pairs of Progressive's have been Prada, and I have to say this new brand it out shines Prada and that's not some thing I ever thought I hear myself say So here they are vision works in Gresham Oregon little shop in a strip mall. The front desk staff was awesome. I enjoyed speaking with Courtney and Katie and Rea. I was there for over three hours getting all of this hammered out so that I can see you again because I start a new job next Monday. I'm never going any place else to get GLASSES even if I move to France and you shouldn't either go there it's a Gresham. VERY EXPENSIVE, for progressive lenses & frames, even with their so called sales or discounts

I went here a couple of years ago and had a decent experience. This time not so much. The complete story I over slept and had to rebook the appointment that's on me and I take responses for it. I arrived for my rescheduled appointment 5min early and they had a difficult customer they were working with. They said they would be with me shortly. I said let me know when you are ready for me I'm going to look at frames. She never came and got me 10minutes later I reproached the desk and she said oh yeah I'm ready for you now. She did the pre exam then said the Dr just started with another patient and asked if I would like to wait out in the frame area. I looked at a few more frames then sat down and waited. Then I heard they took someone with a later appointment time in first and forgot about me again. I'm a patient person but I'm now 45 minutes past the appointment time. They get me to a room where I waited for another 10 minutes before I walked out and said reschedule me I'm so frustrated right now I can't continue. I ended up going somewhere else. They are so disorganized the two at the front desk are nice enough but do not talk to each other. I will not be back read more

I went in over 2 weeks ago, had my eye exam and picked my glasses out. The team was really nice. Then after over 2 weeks and my glasses were supposed to be done, I called and they said mine slipped through the cracks, the vendor never reached out to them that they were out of the frames I picked! So they are calling around trying to find someone who Carries them but it would be another 2 weeks at least! Both my sons wear glasses, my husband and my mother and none of us have had to wait over a month for glasses, would also like to point out they never called me after 2 weeks I had to call them. This is the worst experience I have had trying to get my new prescription glasses. I gave them 2 stars because while I was there the staff was really nice but the communication is terrible and now I am left having bad headaches with an old prescription. read more

I am surprised that the amount of reviews do not reflect the experience at Vision Works. This location has a sound and direct system of operation that relieves any health concerns. Not only does this location relieve concerns, but David has a great team that welcomes all customers. I personally visited this location to correct the arms of my glasses and I have to say that David did a great job of asking the right questions, setting the expectations and getting the correction done in a timely manner. I broke one of the nose pieces on my glasses and when I tried to get them repaired at Kaiser, due to Covid their nearest optical repair was Clackamas. Just on a chance I tried Visionworks and the gentleman repaired the one and replaced the other! Very friendly staff and most accommodating. I would highly recommend this store to anyone. read more

I scheduled an appointment to get new contacts. I live about 50 minutes from this location and was very disappointed as soon as I stepped foot in the building. Immediately the girl at the front desk asked me if I wanted to reschedule since it is a longer appointment, I said no, I am already here and made the appointment I'm not going to reschedule. After that, I gave her my insurance card and she wanted a confirmation from my insurance company that they will pay for the visit. Since it's a Saturday the insurance office was closed so she could not get what she needed. I told her I have been to this office before and my insurance paid for the appointment last time. She then proceeds to say I am not in the system due to a provider change and to reschedule for next week. At this point I am beyond frustrated since I drove all this way just to be told to reschedule, like why let me make the appointment if you are just going to turn me away. I will never come back to this location agian after this, a HUGE WASTE OF MY TIME! read more

So just an update since we have since received our glasses. We were told when we ordered our glasses that if we hadn't heard anything by the 9th to give them a call. Wife ended up calling them the first thing in the morning on the 9th to get an update. The person who helped her out told her he was busy and to call back in an hour. So she called back in an hour and same person talked to her on the phone and told her that it had arrived in todays mail. Not going to call BS but it honestly sounded like it. Anyways, we go in and I get my glasses adjusted and they told the wife that her glasses had scratch on it and they had to re-order them. They said it would take a few days and they would call when they were ready. So fast forward 8 days and still no word from them she decided to stop by and had been sitting there for a few days. No phone call. Felt like a total "we have your money already so GTFO" place. My first part of the experience there was great it just kind of sucks what happened after was just bad. I'd also like to add that the person who adjusted my glasses did a piss poor job. When he adjusted the nose pads they were crooked so one side sat higher than the other. Instead of going back to them to get it fixed cause who knows what I'd end up with I just went to the Visionworks at the Clackamas Town Center. Overall just what happened after my eye appointment was enough to convince me to not go back again. If all you're getting is an eye exam they are just fine but purchasing frames was a different story. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. They sold my lens info to a doctor I never saw, and since he has retired/absconded, I apparently can't get a refill on my lenses. Which is a violation of federal law, but even the manager there doesn't seem to care. On my third or so call, I was told that the person in charge was out on a smoke break. I also smoke but have never not run inside when the company's reputation depended on it. Clearly no one there cares. read more

Last week my 8 year old daughter failed her vision exam at her physical for the first time and a friend reccommended thus place for both the optometrist and the selection of kids glasses. Everyone was very friendly from front desk to sales rep, but the sales team really went above and beyond. Originally we were told her glasses would be in in ten days, which I understood as they have to send them out of state. However we got a call just an hour later stating their boss (Rob I believe is his name) was able to cut her glasses in house-they made a special exception since she needed them for school today! I was blown away and picked them up yesterday, they are so cute and my daughter was overjoyed. This review is for Ron . When I got my glasses at another location something was right . I couldn't tell the day I got them but figured it out pretty quick . I had already spent an hour adjusting at the other location so I wasn't up for another round of that so I headed to Gresham because I was put there . I was greated warmly by Ron . He genuinely listened to my concerns , compared all my sets of glasses , and adjusted them a bit . He spotted something still was right he phone the other store for the work order , reviewed it , reviewed my glasses again and when to work on them and clear as day fixed the problem. He explained to me that the horizon line was off and needed adjusting. Ron is knowledgeable, well seasoned , able to communicate effectively to diagnose problems and resolve them . His costumer service skills are exemplary . This organization needs more Rons. He is passionate about what he does and was made to do this job . He genuinely believes in his ability to competently fill people's need and does so with pure joy . In the future I will be returning to see Ron and his staff for future orders . Visionworks please take note and figure out how to consistently hire people like this . I'm not a person who wants promises , I expect results when I spend my money and Ron delivered for you . Absolutely incompetent. Traveled an hour to go here because it's the only option with my insurance and the exam was way off my local optometrist Rx. And they damaged the lenses in the process and had to delay even longer. 11 total days waiting for the glasses to be ready only to find the lenses were incorrect. So incorrect I can't even wear them, it makes me dizzy. The optometrist got one of my spheres incorrect and didn't even measure my cylinders or axis?? So incredibly frustrated. I was completely disappointed. I called ahead of time to verify they were in network with my insurance. They assured me they were. I went in the following day. I arrived to wait for over a half hour to be told they can't see me because they couldn't locate me in the system. I had my spouse fax over a sheet from their HR dept clearly stating I was insured with effective dates and plan info. They said they'd only do the exam... It was ridiculous. I went home, and thennnnnn they called to tell me they are out of network and the glasses aren't covered half as much add my plan allows. Takes forever to get your glasses back, horrid customer service! Told me the most expensive lenses you could buy were $199, when I went in to purchase them they were $310 and don't even know What's so special about them the lady basically picked them out for me and said those aren't even top of the line lenses. Did the buy one get one free and it still doesn't add up when I spent over $600 for ONE pair..When I went in just to look at frames there were only two girls working there and both gave me false information and started cussing at each other, and were very very unprofessional. Due to my insurance covering exams but not the glasses (go figure) I purchase my glasses online. Recently I broke my frames. Getting a new frame was the easy part. Once I got them I wasn't sure exactly where I should go to get the lenses switched out. Since I've had such a good rapport with GM David Bruce in the past, I decided to give Visionworks a call. I spoke with Linda who assured me that they would indeed be able to help me. Once again, "Eyeglass Wizard" David had my lenses switched out in no time, and didn't even charge me for his time, thus saving me atleast $30. I cannot praise these folks enough. They're all so very friendly and caring and seem to genuinely enjoy helping people with all of their eye health needs. Their customer service is supurb! I brought my prescription to this location, bought a pair of glasses (expencive lenes) after I got home I noticed the frames ear piece was loose mfg defect. I took them and all my paper work and they said they order a new pair and would contact me when the frames came in. Still to this day not a word. If you are drawn into this business based on their latest promotion - run the other way as quickly as possible! I have to admit I was a sucker. Yes, I ordered the $69.95 clearance glasses - 2 pair. At the conclusion of my visit after adding basic needs I paid $521(including all their discounts)! When I came to my senses the following day I called the store manager for a refund. I endured his Spanish Inquisition and yes, he would grant me a refund back to my credit card. I waited 4 days - no money. Now they tell me it takes 5-10 days to process. As a small business owner I know this is not true - the money should have landed in my account within 3 days. Will I get my money back anytime soon? I'm not holding my breath. Beware! read more

Went in after I had an eye exam at Costco for $85 even without a membership. VisionWorks was $150 without insurance. Pros: They have a big selection of frames. They were done with my glasses within an hour. Cons: They did not mention the $110 for astigmatism until I was already paying. A couple of the girls working there made snarky remarks at a lady that went in to ask if they could repair something on her glasses. They kept talking very rudely about her for 20 min. In all, I will not be returning next year for my next set of glasses. read more

The pads on my mom's glasses were resisting the cleaning, so he replaced them for free. One arm of my glasses got bent back to where it's supposed to be and it's great now. read more
