I had a very bad experience with this business! I went in for a fitting for contacts and Dr Goldman was so rude (my original doctor was out) condescending and nasty!! He told me the contacts would be too costly for me and that it would be impossible for me to wear them. I had my original doctor and my ophthalmologist both tell me I could get them! I went for my mother and they made her wait even though we were ahead of other customers. I came here for the first time to get some glasses. The doctor was okay and very quick. But... nobody assisted me with the glasses, and they didn't even measure me to make sure they fit my face correctly. They didn't ask if I wanted to add anything to my lenses or make them thinner... nothing. Lazy lazy lazy! They close at 5pm but the lady who works there has already checked out at 4:05pm (beyond lazy). When I asked about my insurance she complained that the store is about to close and it will take a while to find the information, and told me to call. When I told her I will just reorder what I have on record already, she said the same response that they are about to close and it will take a while and she might now be able to help me since the store is closing. Great start, then they dropped the ball! I couldn't see with the new glasses. They said they would reset pupil distance and they would be back soon. It's 2 months, and nothing! Their supposed customer service is horrendous! They can't even get a hold of the store. Supervisor Lisa has yet to get anyone to call me back. Someone called 20 min. Ago, she couldn't speak, and tried to say another 2 weeks. Don't use them if you want your glasses any time soon! They also take at least 45 min. Just to get a rep. I have been going to Vision Works for over 10 years now. I have referred over my wife, mom and sister to this location. I have always found them to be professional, knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating to my busy schedule. During my last visit, the customer service we received was exceptional! The entire staff is phenomenal especially Rachel. She took the time to explain everything to us and made some great recommendations. Initially, I was only going to purchase contacts, but after speaking with Rachel, I got glasses as well. I love my new glasses and wish I would have purchased them sooner! There are many eye doctors close to my home, but I choose Vision Works in Edison because of employees like Rachel and the rest of the staff! Keep up the great service. It is literally impossible to get in touch with someone over the phone. My contacts were ordered by the staff over two weeks ago and they were supposed to be delivered to my home and I still have not received them yet. I should be able to pick up the phone and reach out to the location but it's not possible to talk to a live person. Even customer service was unable to reach them. Going on a vacation to South Jersey in a few days and needed contacts quickly. The location in Howell hasn't been answering the phone for the last 2 days! I tried the Edison location and they picked up immedietly. Not only was Migna able to process a contact order for me, she made sure that I was able to come in and grab a pair for my trip since the order was 7-10 days from arriving. May be a small gesture but I felt she went out of her way to make sure I wasn't going without contacts. Thank you Migna for the great customer service! read more

I brought my prescription from my private ophthalmologist to the Old Post Road Visionworks in Edison. I was "greeted" by Cliff, and stated I was not familiar with the company's process. I handed Cliff my prescription and he was confounded that it was written in the manner it was. I didn't write it and had it filled at a Costco without issue. He kept repeating the missing components and stated he was not confident about the Rx details as it was written but would fill it if I wanted with a note on file just in case it was wrong so they wouldn't be responsible. I tried to inquire about scheduling an exam but he was abrupt, disgruntled, and unhappy about the dialogue exchange. I ended the conversation since it was not a pleasant experience and incidentally left my insurance card. He brought it outside and set it on the window sill for it to blow in the wind. This was a terrible experience. As a health care professional who has been working with the public for 30+ years, this is not how you speak to people in general, let alone in a place of business where you are there to sell a product to support a person's quality of life. It is unfortunate that my insurance uses Visionworks. I'll attempt another location and hope the experience is a positive one and I can get my glasses!! read more

I get the eye exam here but their glasses are overpriced, so I decided to get mine elsewhere. They refuse to give me my PD value and claims I can only get it if I get glasses here?! You CANNOT get ahold of them over the phone if there is a problem with your glasses. I have one pair of glasses for my son that were supposed to be there by Dec 8ish I STILL DO NOT HAVE THEM. His father went on March 9th they claimed they would call me about my sons glasses. They DID NOT. I'm not finally fed up and on the phone with my insurance. They lied to my insurance and said they texted me on Jan 1st that they were ready. NEVER ONCE have this business EVER contacted me through email. And again his father was there AFTER Jan and they said they had nothing. His fathers glasses are also off and make him feel sick when he wears them. As we are sitting frustrated another person stated their frustration and walked out saying she was never going to return. I can say I am not impressed. This was my first and last time at this place. After getting a "drive-thru" examination, I was shuffled out to select frames. They gave me a return date of 10 business days. I got wrong frame and on time of that got wrong prescription. They said they'd been busy with "buy 1 get 1" sale and replaced the frame. However, I went back to Walmart who I have used for the past 10 years with no problems to get corrected prescription and new set of glasses at my expense. Never again will I go to Visionworks. In what might be my worst experience ever in buying glasses! The eye doctor was very rude! When I picked out a pair of frames the person asked if I was getting everything what the doctor recommended? I said he didn't say anything to me so I don't know what he recommended. After realizing he added a few things to my lenses I didn't want we moved on to the charges. They charges me for a cleaning kit that most places would just give to you for free for buying a pair and then told me I would have to wait two weeks for my glasses to come in...it's almost 2018, who and where are these glasses coming from? Do not go here. These people do not care about you as a patient they only care about your money. We called and booked out appointment weeks in advance and they told us they would call to let us if our insurance was valid. They never did so we assumed everything was ok. When we get there they tell us that our insurance doesn't cover us there. Our insurance messed up on their end because we know for certainty that we have a vision plan, but the way Visionworks handled the situation was just so rude and unprofessional. I have been going to Visionworks for several years. The service has continually gotten worse. Today was the final straw. I called to find out where my new glasses were. I got hung up on and then when they called me back they told me that the lab had broken my frames. (I wonder if they would have called me up at all if I hadn't followed up.) When I went to pick up the broken frames it was obvious that the lab did not unscrew the frames correctly to insert the lenses and had just tried to jam them in the fragile frame. I got my prescription glasses made in January 2018 . I had spend above 200.00 dollars for the new pair. Accidently i fell from the stairs and one of the lens got scratched due to that. I called your store and requested if they can get that lens fixed. I was told that i have to spend another 200.00 or some dollars again to get the new pair. I think it is not fair that on such an expensive glasses no warrant was covered on lens or frames. I am a long time customer of Vision works and was greatly disappointed. I will not be able to spend that kind of money again so soon. Please suggest a reasonable solution to get my glass lens repaired. Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated. PN read more

Got glasses here for my son and husband only to find out that instead of submitting the charges to my insurance which usually covers most of the cost, they charged my visa FSA card the full cost of glasses. I found out a month later when I went to use my FSA card for other medical expenses and found it maxed out because of those charges of almost $600. They said that my insurance never covered them but turns out they never submitted the bill to my insurance. Lazy workers and liars. Don't go there. read more

My husband's eyeglasses broke a few weeks ago, during the pandemic, and he urgently needed them to be fixed. They were not purchased at Visionworks but rather in a mall location which was closed. A few calls were made to other eyeglass offices who did not consider his predicament to be urgent, yet anyone whose eyesight is compromised will understand the importance of wearing proper glasses. I should add that his are bifocals which he has worn most if his life. Luckily he found our that Visionworks in Edison was open for business. Not sure that they would service a pair of glasses that were purchased somewhere else, he took a chance and called. Janelle answered the phone and without hesitation told him she certainly would help him and he made an appointment for the following day. He called from the car upon arrival, Janelle came outside, mask and gloves, and brought his glasses into the store to be fixed while he waited in the car. She came in in a few minutes, glasses fixed, and went back into the store a few more times to adjust them perfectly. She was great! Very professional and very caring, she could not have provided him with a better experience. All this AND she would not even charge him for her time. Needless to say, Visionworks in Edison will be our eyeglass store of choice from now on and we will surely ask for Janelle! Thank you again! read more

This is the closest Visionworks to me, but I was initially scared away by the reviews on here and on Google. I went to the Visionworks in Princeton instead, but at the Princeton location, they were unable to find my correct insurance benefits in their computer system and also unwilling to either trust that the benefits in the brochure that I brought with me were correct or call my insurance company to verify. I ended up leaving the Princeton Visionworks without buying glasses and then decided to try here instead. Here I had no problem. The representative just made a copy of my brochure and gave me the correct prices. Service was polite and friendly and very quick. read more
